Deryk focused on his job, not really paying attention to what the others were up to. He took a moment, then began his work on figuring out the code to this lock. He had a fairly good start, but he was far from done.
Diligently, he continued. Deryk likely had a more intense look upon his face than anyone around had ever seen him before. This sort of thing was his calling though. He could really get his focus down for this type of work. And in the meantime, Tooley was providing some music in the back of his mind, which was nice too.
"Alright..." he mumbled to himself as he proceeded.
Keeping a determined look about, Deryk kept at it, wanting to bust through as quickly as possible. The sooner he got this, the sooner they can move on with their mission.
Nothing yet. Deryk paused for the moment and took in a deep breath. Alright, what did he need to do exactly to break through this last bit? He thought it over, then got an idea.
And his plan worked! After he had given that a try, the lock became undone completely. Deryk grinned at his handy work, then turned towards Ami to flag her down.
"Gale. Broke through the lock," he said into his headpiece.
"Oh, tons," Evan said as Pasha brushed him off, sarcasm almost visibly dripping from his tone. It was reflected in the expression he turned on Ami, which smoothed out only a little as the others got their orders. Why had Ami even asked him to come here? Locks and traps and puzzles weren't his forte.
Fortunately, someone started shooting at them. This, he could handle. Evan whirled around to face their unseen attacker, Gir materializing in his hand before he had completed the motion. A bullet hit him in the shoulder, and he grunted more in surprise than pain. He stilled for a moment to wait for the inevitable agony of being shot to sink in.
It didn't. /It won't,/ Gir snapped, all trace of the happy-go-lucky pup gone, replaced with an angry, snarling beast. Gir growled in Evan's mind, and Evan echoed it.
Evan couldn't see where exactly the shooter was hiding, only vague movement in the shadows. Even that made it easy to anticipate the next bullet, and he raised Gir just in time for the bullet to ping harmlessly off of the broad blade.
Harmlessly for him, anyway. /Hey!/ Gir yelped, /Rude./
You get an apathetic thumbs up from Ami once the area is cleared. It's a good thing too- had you not gotten the traps, the escape route for leaving the museum would've been blocked. "I wasn't aware the library had pools," she commented snidely.
For now you'll just have to wait for the others to finish. Maybe you should look around the room while you wait ...

The lock makes a soft, technological sound as it rescrambles the numbers on the LED screen. Then the screen goes completely blank. For a moment it seemed as though Deryk's efforts were in vain, but then there was a barely audible beep .... click.
The screen now reads "DISENGAGED."
Ami comes over to investigate your work and looks oddly impressed. "At least it didn't become a portal." She looks over at Jake. "Why don't you two look around a little? Maybe there's something worth taking."

All is quiet. For whatever reason, it seems the mysterious agent has stopped. Perhaps he accomplished his mission? Maybe he ran out of bullets.
Whatever the reason, you kept the group safe. That doesn't mean the safety is permanent though. Best to run a perimeter check.
[ Optional prompt! Feel free to explore the room. You can gm the location as you like- just remember it's an average library exhibit. Think something like this with a huge glass case in the center. Post all important actions in bold red, like usual! ]

"I still have all my limbs," came the dry reply. "Unless you mean my sanity, in which case, I lost that a long time ago."
