((Dang, you guys finished up...

...and I had just come up with a clever way to help out. That has a small entirely probabilistic chance of success.

Oh, well, maybe we can follow him.))

Owle returned her mind to her body, only to find her ears ringing like nothing else. opaj and Angel seemed fine, Rage was still a girl, and there was something weird at his/her feet.

...where had the bad guy gone? And had she really attacked him?

And, suddenly, Owle sensed a familiar mind nearby, from the direction she and Rage had come.

While she was still trying to figure out what was happening, she sent out a message to that person...

"Owle, may I have a word?" opaj said, walking up to the tear gas cannister and kicking it over the fence, covering his mouth and squinting through irritated eyes.

He coughed violently, fanning the air around him to clear away the toxins. Not that it helped much, but it was better than doing nothing.

"Yeah..." Owle said. She hadn't moved from the bench this whole time, and was rather grateful for its support. How was it that she hadn't been harmed in the entire fight?

"I'm sorry I blanked out there, Vahn was dying."

"Vahn?" opaj resisted the urge to ask who he was; it didn't seem appropriate, and he figured it was one of the strangers that were at the bar the other day. "Is he okay?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:24 pm

"I don't know," Owle said. "But he's willing to live, which is more than he was before. There's nothing more I can do for him."

A moment, and she seemed far away. But only a moment. "He's still alive. That's something. What did you want to talk about?"

Gregory came wandering in. He must've been knocked unconscious briefly by any combination of the tremors, the screeching, and the smell. As it was, he awoke to find no one around anymore, and a burnt patch of land leading to the north gate. He had no sense of how long he had been out of it for, and the glazed look in his eyes testified to the fact that he was still a bit addled and would take a minute to adjust to reality again.

opaj nodded thoughtfully as Owle explained Vahn's situation. "I see..."

"Owle," the swordsman turned so his full body faced the shifter. His back stiffened as he stood up straight. With a bow, he said, "Please, I respectfully request training."

"What?" Owle asked, surprised again. That was the last thing she'd expected to say. Well, not the last thing, but pretty close to it.

"Do we have time for that?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:32 pm

"I don't imagine we do," opaj replied as he straightened up again. Letting his hand rest on the collective hilts at his hip, he gazed towards Rage and Angel. "Not now, but later. If that thing had decided to finish us off after that flashbang, there would have been nothing I could have done."

His eyes returned to Owle. "I need to hone my sixth sense. I need to be able to fight an enemy, protect my friends, even if I'm completely blinded, deafened, even numbed."

((Greg... you are... where? sweatdrop ))

Gregory shook his head, trying to clear it of his momentary confusion. It was then that he saw a familiar figure: the man who had introduced himself as Opaj. None of the other people that had been there earlier were to be seen, though, and there was a new girl as well.

Great, must've been out for more than a few minutes, anyways.

With that thought, he started making his way towards Opaj. He moved slowly though, as it seemed the man was in deep conversation with the woman and Gregory had no desire to interrupt. He would wait to be acknowledged, or he would simply move on. It's not like this man meant any more to him than any other.

((Sorry, should've been more detailed. I'm following the path you guys took from Bassken Lake))

Owle noticed the man, and decided he wasn't hostile. If he was, it wasn't like she was going to do anything about it, either.

"Well...I'm not sure I can help you. My telepathy is probably wildly different from whatever it is you do...but I'll do what I can, opaj."

If she was around later.

"They can't be all that different," opaj replied. "When I was in your body, my sixth sense... well, it was sharper than any of my other senses.

"Anyway, we can discuss it further after we've gotten out of this." He paused. "And we will get out of this."

He looked at Gregory and spared him a weak grin. "I see you made it away from that god-forsaken lake okay."

Gregory spared him a quick hand-wave greeting.

"Yeah, and I see the flame spewing maniac didn't get you either. Glad to see you're okay."

Gregory's instincts told him it was okay to trust Opaj, and by his own reckoning, his instincts had never done him wrong before. It was then that he took notice of Owle and offered a half-bow.

"I'm Gregory Dirkham. At your service."

From a range of eighty meters away Gammu laid prone upon the ground behind a small building that looked to be a utility shed. Laying next to the brick and mortar he angled his head so as to expose the sensor array, that doulbed as an atenna, to where he had seen his brother fighting. Taking in a sensor sweep the infared imaging fave him a clear view. Rising up to his knees he exposed his right flank as he aimed a 40mm gauss cannon towards the one that had attacked Gamma(opaj). With a pull of a trigger a whistling noise the air was sundered by the projectiles flight, but he held his fire.
