Arachnae stayed silent, pondering his response. Would it be fair to him for her to say nothing and have him ony his word, staying with her? Or should she release him and face this challenge by herself. Obviously he figured she would be a good mother, as he had not said anything since their little spat. Shaking her head she reared up nd stretched her neck out, grabbing and plucking a juicy apple from a tree branch. She grinned as she bit into the apple, thinking further on his words. How could she decide what to do if she didn't know how he truly felt? But she couldn't ask him. No. That would be bad. Bad idea.

D'von blinked as the mare just grinned and bit into one of the red things from the tree above. "... Those are edible?" They didn't have fruit trees in the south, so he had no idea. They barely had trees at all, for that matter. All of this vegetation, all of this... green was foreign to him.
His thoughts went back to her question. Since she hadn't said anything... did that mean she wanted him to stay, or was she just thinking still? He could never tell with Nae...

Nae cocked her head to the side as she swallowed. D'von's exclamation had slightly confused her. Who didn't know about apples?! "Apples? Yes. They are delicious. Have you truly never had one?" She asked. Deciding this needed to be fixed, Nae reared again and brought an apple down with her and handed it over to D'von. "Try."

"We don't have anything remotely like apples in the south." That was all he was able to say before Arachnae offered him one of these 'apples'. He accepted it and took a bite, blinking. It was... sweet. It was not a familiar taste, but he liked it. He all but devoured the rest of the apple. Then D'von looked up at the mare. "These apples are commonplace here?" He was genuinely curious.

Arachnae took delight in the males reaction to the taste of apples. "Yes. Apples, oranges, cherries, pears and, Oh! My favorite, peaches, All are fairly common to this lands." She laughed and picked a few more apples, building a pile for hem to share from.

That many? "No wonder northern Azrien always seem so happy..." They didn't have to worry about food the way southerners did. He happily partook of the apples Nae had collected. They were good. He wondered what peaches tasted like, if the mare liked them better than apples. And what about those others? Oranges and churries and pors--what did they taste like? His thoughts distracted him enough that he only realized once it was in his teeth that he'd grabbed the same apple as Arachnae. As the stallion met her gaze, it felt as if time had stopped around them. He felt himself getting lost in those pink eyes and he didn't resist. This... this was the mare he wanted. She wasn't exceptionally powerful, she wasn't the daughter of some great southern--or northern--leader. She was stubborn, independent, and sometimes naive. But she was the mare he'd claimed, the only one he wanted to be with. Arachnae was his world; nothing else mattered.

Arachnae began to blush, the warmth starting in the tips of her ears an working is way down to her cheeks and even her chin. The proximity to the male was intoxicating, and she knew that no other male would mke her feel this way. Around him, she had no want to flirt, to run around. Her wandering streak was little, if it was there at all. She had no need to go anywhere. A thought crossed her mind. She had picked him to mate with her first. She had asked him to claim her, to put his mark on her soul, before that brute. Did that mean to him what she was realizing it meant for her?

Reckless. This was reckless. But it felt right. Natural. It was much better than trying to hide everything, to pretend he didn't care about this one-of-a-kind mare. She was blushing and his impulsive side couldn't help itself. He released the apple in favor of burying his muzzle into her mane. "... Hey. Remember when I said... that I couldn't let you leave?" Back when she'd been adamant about wrapping him around her hooves. "I think I misspoke. What I should've said was... I can't leave you now." There was no point in denying his feelings further. He loved Arachnae. No matter how much he fought against it, that wouldn't change. He'd known it in his heart since his battle with Ruin. No... maybe even before that, though he hadn't admit it to himself. He'd been terrified of telling her, of exposing his heart to her... but now the deed was done. D'von would just have to hope that she felt the same. "I... love you, Arachnae. Please don't send me away." He couldn't refuse her requests anymore. He was hers.

Arachnae's eyes widened at his admission to her. He was silent as years sprang to her eyes as she looked away. "D'von... You love me?" She asked, unable to believe it was true.

"Yes." This time there was no sarcastic or witty comments. Just the truth. D'von took a deep, shaky breath. "Would you believe me if I told you I was scared out of my mind?" His frame quivered and he let out a weak laugh. "I can't stop shaking." He was making himself vulnerable. His training screamed outrage. The fear and other emotions he was revealing so freely needed to be caged again. He needed to brace for rejection. But those thoughts were ignored. He couldn't run or hide any more. He was going to face his fear and hand his heart over to Nae like he'd wanted to do for weeks.

Nae was silent as she went over to D'von and tucked her head into his chest. She heaved as the tears fell freely, soaking his chest. She had had to travel to the depths of the Six's lands to find him, and she hadnt even been looking. Se was silent for several moments, emotion keeping her from being able to speak.

D'von lightly rested his head on hers, a few tears rolling down his own face. He could practically feel the emotions surging through both of them, fighting for control. Terror almost gripped his heart, but his resolve held firm. When contesting against Arachnae, nothing was more important. Even his own fear could not shake that. That was the promise that was set in stone when he fought Ruin. He would stay by her side as long as she wished it. When the stallion found his voice again, it was quiet and soft. "Shh... it's ok, sweet pea. It's ok..."

"I... I love you too, D'von." Arachnae said once she gained control of herself and had stopped crying. She backed up and looked at him cautiously. "I heard what you told Ruin..." She said softly, decidin that he might as well know that she had known how he felt for awhile.

D'von's inner terror vanished with those words. She loved him. His feelings were returned. And then she pulled away and spoke again. He just stared for a moment, then sighed. "Guess it'd be hard to sleep with all the smoke..." He shuffled in place, a little embarrassed. "And I was pretty loud..." She knew. Yes, it was nothing horrible, but it had revealed a love of Nae that bordered on obsession. "Once he started talking about you like he did... I guess I just sort of... snapped. Everything just... rushed out." If he hadn't run, D'von might've ended up killing him in that berserker rage. Though he didn't know if that would've actually worked; they said Ruin was from the Underworld.

Nae nodded. "It's okay. I... It was kind of you to defend me..." She said softly. "I... I know I haven't lately been... Myself, and you haven't exactly seen the best side of me... But the fact that... You care for even the bad me... It's hard to believe..." She said softly, watching him behind her water filled pink eyes.
