Avery nodded and followed Traiten. She knew what it was like to lose control and it terrified her. She turned to the new girl, "Maybe we should get jasmine so that she can help her sign in."

FaithOlympius FaithOlympius (enters big house)faith olympius walked in. "i'm here to register for camp half blood. my friend just turned into a goat man when this thing, he called it python attacked me. i killed it by the way, and all i got was this fang. i sacrificed it to my godly parent, and i got this back." she pulled a necklace out of her shirt, it was a small fang attached to a gold chain and a well known, but not to faith, rune on it. " so," she said, chewing on her gum, and blew a bubble." how do i do this register thingy, john, thats my goat-like friend, won't tell me anything. and i haven't even had time to get changed, or do my hair." she had on an outfit of completely leather, including her biker boots, fingerless leather gloves, and her hair reached her shoulders, black with a blond streak on each side of her bangs. Riley followed the directions she had been given by a very helpful camper to a large house in the middle of the "camp." She still did not really understand where she was, but someone had assured her that if she was here, then she was in the right place. Slowly climbing the stairs, Riley made sure to take generous steps so as not to trip on anything. The planks of the deck were smooth under the thin, leather soles of her shoes and the cross to the door was relatively short. Riley let her fingers run across the cool, wooden door before knocking, her knuckles only lightly rasping against the hard wood. She was not yet sure about the policy, but decided it would be polite to knock before entering. Hearing no response, she let her hand drop to the metal knob and twist.
The door swung open and a gust of cool air assaulted Riley's face and bare arms, accompanied by the smell of a stereotypical camp clubhouse--nature and sweaty kids. Still somewhat unaware of her surroundings, Riley stepped through the threshold before shutting the door behind her. She was not sure what the inside of the house looked like, but from the echo caused by the closing door, she knew it was a pretty large space.
In a tone that could taken as a greeting if anyone was nearby, or a call into the house to let someone know she was there, Riley announced, "Hello. My name is Riley Steele. I was told to check-in here."
This was a new beginning for her here, and Riley was determined not to let on to anyone that she was blind. With her dark sunglasses on, it was impossible for anyone to tell that she had no sight. She carried herself with the grace of a seeing person and kept her walking stick hidden in her bag unless she desperately needed it. An onlooker would just see a fair-skinned, blonde, petite teenage girl whose casual clothes showed signs of travel. Unsure if anyone was in the large house, she waited in the entryway for someone to greet her or a lack of a response to tell her to try again later.

{Jasmine Haze} Jasmine entered a little ahead of River. She noticed a girl and smiled at the new camp. Walking slowly in front of her. "You're blind." She led her down to a seat. Moving to the other side of a desk. "I am so sorry. Several jobs at once. Makes it crazy around here." She smiled a bit and moved back in front of the girl. "I am Jasmine Haze. Stable master and daughter of Thanatos. And assistant director at the moment." She took the girls hand. "You can trust me."

Being blind had its advantages--namely hyper-sensitive hearing. Almost an entire minute before their entrance, Riley heard the crunch of grass under two pairs of feet. Aware of the approaching bodies, she stepped out of the doorway and leaned nonchalantly against the wall of the entrance hall, facing perpendicularly to the door. As footsteps sounded across the porch, Riley relaxed her tensed muscles and took a deep breath before exhaling slowly. She was so worried, but she was determined to present herself as a strong, confident teenager.
The last thing Riley did as she heard the doorknob twist was adjust her sunglasses so they sat perfectly on her nose and ears. By the time the door started to open, she was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed under her chest. With the door now open and not muffling the sounds from the two people who had just entered anymore, Riley could tell that in the lead was a girl followed by a boy. Their breathing and footfalls gave it away, really. The first person had light, short breaths and soft footsteps. The second person had deeper and raspier breaths with heavier footsteps, creating more of an echo in the floorboards. The boy and girl were also accompanied by a strange combination of smells. A slight tinge of horses, deep earth, and the ocean wafted into the room as the two entered.
The girl entered in front and slowly passed in front of Riley before resting her hand on Riley's shoulder and guiding the blonde to a chair in another room. Oh my god, she knows, Riley thought, she knows I am blind. Luckily, the boy following behind them was far enough back that there was no way for him to have caught that she could not see. So, only the girl knew.
Riley nervously sat in the seat she was lead to and folded her hands on her lap in front of her, depositing her rucksack on the ground next to the chair. She listened as the girl, who had a surprisingly delicate voice, apologized for the wait and introduced herself as Jasmine Haze, a daughter of "than toast"? And also the camp's stable master. Being blind, Riley never got the chance to read a lot, so she was sure she was missing some sort of knowledge piece that would make this "than toast" thing make sense.
Stuck in her pondering over who miss Jasmine was the daughter of, Riley was oblivious to what was going on around her. Was "than toast" a person's name? Some new cult? Riley didn't know. She was broken out of her whirlwind of thoughts by a soft hand grabbing her own. It was Jasmine's.
"You can trust me," Riley heard her say.
Orienting her head so that the boy in the room could not see her lips move, but Jasmine could, Riley discretely shook her head from side to side and mouthed the words, "No one is to know that I am blind." By not saying the words out loud, the male who had entered with Jasmine would have no way of understanding that Riley was blind. It would be her biggest secret here at camp.
Knowing that she had to fill the now growing silence, Riley actually had a few questions she needed to ask. "First off... who is "than toast" or... "than a toes" or however you pronounced it? Secondly, where exactly am I? Everyone just keeps calling it "camp" and welcoming me even though I just found this place by chance and am not actually enrolled here. Third... I'm rambling. I'll give you a chance to answer those questions before I ask more..."

{Jasmine Haze} Jasmine nodded at her. "I will keep it safe. And it's Thanatos. Than-a-tos. Greek god of death. If you are here this means one of your parents is a god or goddess." She had a smile and tried to treat her like a normal person. "All the kids are like. A parent is mortal and the other is a god of sorts." She kept a smile at the girl. Keeping calm and focused. "What's your name and age and t-shirt size."

River " Ion" Hawkins ____________________________________________________________________________________________ River walked in with a smile on his face. His clothes had dried and he looked a little less like he had been in a fight with a garden hoes. Noticing Jasmine talking with a slightly wispy girl. He cocked his head, as if trying to determind who would pick her. Desiding that he would leave it to the fates. He Noticed that introductions were going around, he thought that he might as well introduce himself as well. "River Hakwins, son of Poseidon, lord of seas, earthquakes, sea storms, and all things water, or rather here on earth if you are going to be literal." he flashed a smile at Jasmine, and leaned against a wall with his hands behind his head. ______________________________________________ ______________________________________________ [ ø ø ϲ :: text ]

Riley decided that she did indeed trust Jasmine. Her words were kind, and she came off very polite. Plus, she was going to keep Riley's secret, which just put her further on her good side. However, she was slightly off put by whom she thought she was the daughter of. The greek god of death? I mean... that would explain why she smells like rich, wet soil like the earth surrounding a coffin, but still. It was a little far fetched for Riley. And then all of the kids here being sons and daughters of the Greek gods? That was even further out in left field.
The boy went along with it, too, though! He introduced himself as River Hawkings, a son of Poseidon--whom Riley had actually heard of before, because there was an attraction at Universal Studios in Florida, which Riley's orphanage had gone to once, called Poseidon's Fury and a guide explained all about the god of the sea. River Hawkings, Riley pondered, What a fitting name to the son of the god of water. That would also explain his smell. The scent of salt, brine, and fresh water. Riley decided to buy into the whole sons and daughters of the Greek gods thing for now.
"Well, I am sixteen," Riley began, answering Jasmine's question, "My name is Riley Steele and... I guess I wear a medium." Riley would probably fit into a small, but she felt more comfortable in slightly baggy clothes, so she decided on a t-shirt size up. "So, everyone here is the child of a Greek god... like Zeus? Does that mean you all have magical powers? Like... can you become the size of a house and stuff?"
Riley wasn't quite sure how she felt about the situation yet. She knew very little about the Greek gods and even less about supposed offspring of them. What unnerved her the most, though, was that Jasmine implied that Riley herself was the daughter of one of them. So now she was not only the outcast blind girl, but she was going to be the weird half-god. Could this day get any weirder? If all of this was true, though, it would explain the freak attacks on her before she got here. She had run away from the orphanage because of them. The weird creatures who would track her down every now and then who were always accompanied by destruction and chaos.

River " Ion" Hawkins ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Hearing the girl ask about powers he sighed. "It depends on who you are, who your perent is and wheather or not you can focus enought to make it happen in the frist place. Otherwise you could be doing harm to yourself. Powers imply a give and take, and you can't take more than you earn. Most here just train for the summer with weapons and the like. Then you have others that would have a glowing red target on their backs if they took one step out of camp. Point is here you are safe more or less." He said looking at the floor crossing his arms over his chest. ______________________________________________ ______________________________________________ [ ø ø ϲ :: how should I go about applying for hydrokenisis ]

Avery had taken the long way to the Big House but she made it there with little trouble. She quickly halted the horse jumping down easily and tied it to the railing of the porch. She yelled, "Is anyone here? I need some help!" Avery pulled Traiten down though she had more trouble getting him off of the horse then putting him up there. She layed him gently on the ground then she ran inside hoping someone was in the cabins main office that could help her.

{Jasmine Haze} Jasmine had handed Riley her shirt. When she heard Avery scream she let go of Riley's hand. "River let's go. Riley stay here." She got up and saw the boy Avery was with. She began to check his vitals. "He has a pulse." She ran back and grabbed a first aid kit. Working the guy as best as she could. "Avery what happened? River hold this." She handed him the kit.

Avery looked at Jasmine fear still present on her face. Avery shook her head trying to clear the thoughts so she could answer, "Im not sure. We were having a picknick out in the strawberry fields as we kinda talked. He decided it would be best to head back to our cabins after we returned the horse to the stables. He helped me up into the saddle and something spooked an animal. I think it was a boar but im not sure. Traiten killed it but it broke something causing him to pass out. I got him here as quick as i could."
Avery felt her anger gripping her heart, "I'm so sorry that any of this happened." Avery couldnt help hating herself at that point. She looked at Jasmine and asked, "Will he be alright?"

Riley processed the information River gave her about how different gods' children had different powers. It made sense. Well... as much sense as being the offspring of the Greek gods could. She liked the idea of being safe here, though. She had never really felt at home anywhere before, let alone safe from the crazy monsters who always attacked her. Some campers even got to stay here year-round. Riley wondered if she would be allowed to since she had nothing to go home to. The orphanage would probably not accept her back since she had run away. She decided to ask Jasmine later if she would be allowed to stay there.
There was a lull in conversation as Jasmine grabbed a shirt for Riley out of a box and handed it to her. During the silence, Riley caught the sound of horse hooves hitting the ground. Within seconds they stopped and a girl's voice rang through the house. A cry for help. The door opened and frantic footsteps tore through the hallway, looking for someone to help her. Jasmine dropped Riley's hand and stood in a flurry, demanding River's help, but telling Riley to stay put.
Riley wasn't much for sitting around during a crisis even though she did not know how she could help. Disobeying Jasmine, she stood up and followed their footsteps quickly through the front door and outside. She could hear Jasmine checking over vitals and Riley focused her hearing on the boy on the ground. His breathing was broken and torn, she could hear his strangled gasps as he tried to get air into his lungs.
"His chest," Riley said, "He can't breathe. Something has punctured his lung. It sounds counter-productive, but you need to collapse the lung so it can re-expand on its own. If not, it won't heal. He also needs an oxygen tank. He should be fine, though. Get him on some pain meds or something."
Riley tried to sound calm and assertive in the chaotic situation. She couldn't see what was going on, but moved her head like she was assessing the damage. Her hearing was the key. Her best friend had fallen off his bike once and rolled down a hill. His lung had collapsed and the sound coming out of this boy's mouth was the same as her friend's had been. There could be more damage, though, which was why it was good that Jasmine had asked the girl what had happened. It could have been a broken rib or the boar's tusk that punctured the lung.
