Ami was busy looking in another room under a tables when Kat called her name. With a sigh, she slid a drawer shut, reminding herself that she could come back later.
With silent steps she walked to the room Kat was dwelling in, finding a relatively familiar scene. A generator room, like some they had back home. Ami never used them personally, but there were a few in the laboratories for testing things like invisibility shields (which usually resulted in a naked hunter, much to the amusement of the lab techs), among other things.
Seeing the screen flicker piqued her interest in the generator. "So it has some juice left in it," she commented, holding up her battery. "I see no reason not to."
She knelt down by the battery slots, staring at the mess of wires and bolts. Ami was no real expert of technology, but with a bit of fussing she got the battery to go in the slot. So what exactly did it do?baneful power cell is in place, shields are go! :'D

Quote: As the battery was hooked up to the system a low hum kicked in, the message on the screen switching to RESTARTING SHIELDS with a percentage bar. Once or twice the machines seemed to shudder and groan with effort, appearing on the brink of not quite making it, but the bar filled and several transparent looking wires lit up brightly with runic energy. The low hum deepened to a pulse like thrum and then quietened. Outside, the barrier daggers along the perimeter lit up and for just a moment there was a glow of blue that overcame the daylight as a dome of runic energy appeared over the facility before fading out of the realm of human sight. It didn't keep the monsters out, but what it did do was make the temperature that much less lethal. The wind no longer cut like a knife, it no longer cut at all. Over the next twenty minutes or so, the temperature within the dome would rise to room temperature and stay that way. The dome's energy was also most agreeable to the weapons present. (Within the defensive shield dome you do DOUBLE DAMAGE and all charges from this point on are reset.)

"S-sorry! Sorry!" Jerry babbled in Dakota's general direction over the ringing in his own ears. GOD it was cold. The skinny man was shivering in his fur-lined trench coat, imagining the horrors of his fingers turning blue and black and unable to play instruments or pull triggers ever again... Stupid yetis. Stupid cold. Stupid Rep and his stupid thick, blubber-warmed skin. The others danced at the attacking creatures, polar bears howling and being slaughtered... He distantly heard the girls shout something about a generator before something in the air made Roar's eyes flare with a bright, enthusiastic green energy. His finger had just barely glazed the cannon's trigger when the blast ripped forth, decimating the howling Yeti and a few piles of rubble behind it in the process. As Jerry wobbled for his balance again, he blinked at the damage that had been done and for a moment, felt sympathy. "Uh... F-fire in the hole! Ahahaha..." He managed dimly over the fresh tinnitus ring before sagging to the snow in an almost-swoon. HP: 54/60 Damage: 17(x2)= 34 (srsly??) Charge: 1/3 Dakota's Yeti HP: I'M ASSUMING VERY DEAD. Kat practically watched in awe as the generators kicked in, resulting in the barriers going up not long after. With the barriers up, it wouldn't take long for things to start warming up a bit. Pushing the goggles back to rest on top of her head again, she moved to Ami's side, grinning nearly ear to ear. "Good thing you found those. I think things might get a bit easier for everyone now. Well, hopefully." Knowing their luck, she probably just jinxed everyone here.chimarii I'm sooo sorry OTL I completely forgot it was my turn to post OTL

It looked like everything in the base was stilled, the shields seeming to make it uncomfortably warm for yetis to exist naturally, interfering with their fear.
But as Jerry's attack dissipated the unfortunate female, a ground shaking roar rattled the snow, audible by anyone in the base.
The male was here, and he wasn't happy at all.

That was . . . not a good sound. She really ought to stop daydreaming so easily, because being brought back to reality by bestial howls was not a great way to go. Snapping to attention with a small noise, she hurried to find the others in time to see Jerry getting smacked by - oh. Oh dear.
Well it had to come out sometime, but still. Should she attack? Let the more experienced hunters go at it first and then take like the back? Defend? Arglkjfklsdfjs.

Jerry gave a yelp as he was thrown across the remains of a tabletop, the world spinning for a moment as he tumbled and re-aimed his weapon at the beast. The force of the blast sent him wobbling back on his feet, but barely grazed the monster. "G-guys! I don't think it's happy with me!"

Though Ami worked in the most technologically sound building in Deus, she'd never actually seen the way the barriers work. It was actually somewhat simple- just turn on and then watch it go. Of course, Ami assumed there were probably switches that needed to be in place, but for the moment she was just going to be thankful.
As the heat washed over her, Ami's lips curled into a content smile. She didn't mind the cold- she preferred it to blistering heat any day- but this sort of room temperature warmth was well appreciated.
A roar split her contented thoughts, jarring her back into their location. That was probably another yeti, and some trainee had probably gotten in trouble. "Maybe not." She nodded at Kat, then quickly headed out the door into the snow.
It wasn't hard to spot where the trouble was. A giant yeti, one easily twice the size of the one they'd fought was barreling into hunters left and right. Well, nothing to do but hit it, right?
With newfound energy, Junpei slammed into the side of the yeti, golden runes pulsing at the FEAR. Don't get too ahead of yourself.
< I won't, I won't! >
She noted one hunter sitting on the sidelines- a trainee, no less. "Stormy get your a** over here!" Nobody got to sit out like that. Not on Ami's watch.

Following Ami outside, she was both shocked and amused by the sight before her. "Now that.. is a big Yeti.." Good grief, she really did jinx her fellow hunters with her careless words. Of course there would be something bigger to follow up after. There always was.
Re-summoning Xedis, she made her way to regroup with the other hunters gathered, aiming both hand guns in the direction of the large snow beast.

"I'm blaming this one on you, Kat!" Ami jokingly called out to the girl shooting bullets behind her. One of them flew dangerously close to Ami's head and she threw Kat a scowl. Not cool Kat, not cool.
With a groan she pulled her glaive around her backside and onto her forearm, adjusting it so she was more in control. Oh yes. She'd take this over a gun any day.

Dakota gave a thumbs up to Jerry.
"Good job brother! you killed it DEAD." Like dead dead.
And then the male came and it was all s**t from here.
"Somebody look out, its a the daddy boss." Dakota hissed as he looked around, either he could moon or attack. "s**t, Attack now, Defend later."

The Yeti roared again in sheer outrage and defiance. No one had ever stood up to it like this before, this was its territory, its land. These small fleshy things had no right.
It was about to attack Jerry again for his painful barking attacks whenAmi and Kat's strikes made it reel back into one of the damaged buildings clumsily, cracking a wall with its immense weight before it recovered and lunged straight for the blonde life hunter.

Ami received a look of sympathy from the sun hunter before her attention was directed back to the Yeti as it stumbled back into the wall from the combined strikes. Things looked to be going fairly well, but it didn't stop the snow beast from lashing out any chance it got, this time going straight for Ami. "Ami!" Raising her weapons to retaliate, she squeezed the triggers only to have nothing happen. "Ah-" :Why don't you try recharging me before you try to attack again, you Jack damned idiot!: Yeah.. that probably would have helped a lot..

Ami would've snarked Kat further if it hadn't been for the massive Yeti arm plowing her way. Gravity gave way, and suddenly she was looking at the sky.
The only positive outcome was the snow cushioned her fall rather nicely. At least it wasn't hard pavement or thick thorns- she'd been there, done that. His thick yeti hands had her pinned down, but she calmed herself down enough to at least focus. Her staff split with concentration, and she stabbed the spear half down, burying it in the back of the yetis hand.
It bought her an opportunity to escape, released from the yeti's grasp. She pulled the spearhead out and moved back to catch her breath. That had been way, way too close.

The shout made her jump a bit. "Cap'n!" Stormy cried out, rushing forward to the older hunter as the yeti crashed into a wall and found a new target. She stumbled a bit in the snow, eyes widening as the alpha struck Ami. Crapcrapcrapcrap -
< < Useless! If you do not have the will to fight, then use that fleshy little brain of yours and think of another option. > > There were senior Hunters here, she couldn't be freezing up like that - scenery notwithstanding.
Running of course wasn't an option, even though the trainee's instincts still hadn't quite been honed enough to ignore the fleeing impulse. She tried the next best thing and weaved in closer to the yeti, remembering to keep light on her toes as she stepped forward sliced . . . the air. But hopefully the motion was enough to try and get its attention away from th blond hunter.
"Here, Goliath! C-C'mere, boy!" Taunting helped too, right?
