At Shun's next question Mitsu nodded. There was no need for her to lie. "You are. The proof is in your relationships. You have friends who care about you. I care about you and you've done a lot for the people we go to school with. Risked a lot."
Her eyes dropped to the ground after. She knew he was asking these things to help him make a decision but she was truly worried this world would change him. Mold him into something more like his father and she would end up losing him in an entirely different way.

She had a point there too. He.. definitely wasn't the nicest guy around, but not much could probably change that bit. But, there was one thing that was in the back of his mind, that kind of reflected what was going on in Mitsu's, not that he knew this anyway.
"As long as I can remember that... though.. I also have you," he mused, turning towards her more, "And you.. we.. you're definitely compassionate.. I think."

There was a weak smile at his words but nothing more. "You do have me though I don't know how good I would be for you in this case." Because the only one she cared about was Shun and in the back of her mind there was that lingering thought. She didn't care who got hurt or burned in the process as long as her reaper was okay. It wasn't a thought she wasn't used to having but it was there all the same.

"I'm not sure how you wouldn't be good for me. You're the most amazing person I could have ever met.." Shun said quietly. Sure, she might not have been raised as he had, but that didn't mean she couldn't help him in one way or another. Regardless of which path he took.
"Maybe I can do this. Find a sort of medium. The Family does have resources.. useful ones, after all," he murmured, "I don't want to turn out exactly like Kaitou. I.. don't think I'll end up like him. That b*****d.."

Mitsu looked back down at her feet at that afraid to voice the odd thoughts that had been going through her mind. It was no relief when she seemed to be encouraging him on this path, taking over the role of his father.
"But how much is something like that worth?" She really wanted him to think about it. Sure resources and money were all well and good but Mitsu knew she would be just as happy in a shabby run down place as long as she had Shun. They could get by without being able to turn down a dark alley to find answers to everything. "And your father wasn't always like this. Shiro said so himself. He changed...."

Shun's gaze shifted towards the ground. Taking in a breath, he shifted his weight in place as well.
"Shiro said that it happened with my mother was lost... I won't lose you. I won't allow it," he muttered. In the back of his mind, he already knew that if he had lost her, he would be going down a dark path. He came close to it once before.

It was then that Mitsu finally stepped closer, her hand reaching out to take Shun's. "I know you will do everything you can to protect me and I will do what I can to protect you. But...there are no guarantees." Mitsu wasn't going to delude herself, not after what she went through, not when she had lost her parents and her brother to who knows what. Shun could make all the promises he liked but it couldn't stop something unforeseen from happening.
"If you decide on this path you need to promise me you won't change. Not like that. No matter what. It's the only thing I will ask."

It was true. There was no guarantee. Though quite frankly, Shun felt that it didn't matter what path he took. Mitsu was an anchor for him in many ways he found. Thinking about it some more, he didn't speak up until she urged him about not changing. His expression softened, and he reached out to try and take both her hands in his own.
"I promise you. I won't become like him. If... I ever seem like I'm slipping, pull me back. If there's anyone, I know you would be able to," he said, staring right into her eyes, but then he looked down again.
"In some ways I'm already like him. I... really don't feel any remorse for my enemies. I'd take them down without hesitation too if given the chance..."

When his hands took both of hers Mitsu looked up into her reaper's eye nodding to his reassurance. If he began to slip she would be there to pull him back.
"People change for the better and for the worse. It's impossible to stay the same I just don't want....the worse, but that doesn't mean I want better either. I do like you the way you are now because everything makes up who you are. Maybe....one day you're point of view will change I don't know.."

Nodding quietly to her, Shun soon pulled her close for an embrace.
"That's a part of what makes you amazing... to be able to accept me.. even with all my flaws," he said quietly. He knew that a few of those had to drive her crazy. And yet... she still stuck with him.

Stepping into the embrace Mitsu rested her head just under Shun's chin. "We all have flaws." It was just a simple statement before she turned her head so that she could bury her face in Shun's shirt. There she found a small bit of safety, pulling his jacket up to block away the sounds of the city not far away. Everything in this place was so hard, loud, and maybe a little too bright compared to the rest of Halloween, but in her little safe haven she had made for herself it was just right.

Letting out a breath, he held her more closely, resting his chin lightly upon the top of her head as she hid her face in his chest. There, he lingered for some time in silence, content and comforted to be like this for a little while. The park was pretty empty right now, as people were mostly milling about the streets not far off. That was fine. It meant it was quieter here too.
After awhile, Shun gently kissed the top of her head.
"It's getting late. We should probably head back. Tomorrow... when we have the chance.. I'll take you around the city some more," he said softly, "I'd like you to have some good memories of this place.. after all. I'll make this work out somehow.."

"Alright..." Was all Mitsu managed to say nodding lightly with her face still buried in his shirt. It took her a moment to pull away from her little spot of solitude but when she did she took Shun's hand and waited for him to lead the way back. She would obviously not get them back to where they needed to be. One she had no idea how to get around the city, two her sense of direction was never all that sound and three she...really didn't want to go back.

Shun took her hand and squeezed it firmly, then began to walk back. The returning journey was a fairly silent one, as he didn't really have much else to say now. It wasn't until they were back on the fourth floor of the building that he said something.
"Are you sure you aren't hungry at all?" he asked. She hadn't eaten anything since they got here, after all.

When they finally made it back to the living quarters on the fourth floor Mitsu looked around again unsure what to think or feel. Would this place eventually be her home?
"I'm sure.." She whispered, turning to look up at Shun. "I think I just need time to...mellow out..and rest." It had been a rather busy day of travel and new things.
