D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren was still kicking himself when she spoke. She'd tell him... later? That made him start to wonder what it was like. Jerome made it sound terrible... and the way she hesitated made it sound worse. "Um...um yeah okay," He said softly. He yawned heavily. "T-to be honest... I dunno why I don't know already. Jerome knows. Others know about a lot of people's pasts. Maybe I just got there too late..." He said thoughtfully. "Well, I'm kinda glad. Ya know? It means that I can get to know it from you. That'll be better," He said, a distant smile coming to his face. He still wasn't thinking about what he was saying, apparently.
Daren blinked at her question. "About... about my family?" He asked, biting his lip. "Yeah. I was wondering how they're doing. Kind of wishing I could see them. But I can't cause they know I died. And I don't think them seeing their dead son would play over very well," He said, a bitter chuckle coming to his face. It was clear that he did miss them. There was a sadness in his eyes and a bit in his voice.

Belle just kind of nodded a bit when Daren said okay before talking about it more, saying he wasn't sure why he didn't know already. She just kind of shrugged her shoulders, not really having an answer to that and just wanting him to stop talking about it. When he said it would be better to get the story from her however, she looked down into her lap and tugged at her hair gently again. "Ya, I guess." she mumbled under her breath, barely loud enough for him to hear. She was beginning to regret saying that he could ask her about it again later, but she would talk about it with him if he asked. He'd just have to be ready for the whole world of suppressed emotions it was going to bring back with it.
When he reacted to her question about his family, she immediately realized she had made mistake. Technically, he was dead. And being back here, but unable to see his family - assuming he had a good family life, which he seemed to - must be heartbreaking. "Sorry for asking, I didn't think about it at first." she said gently, looking over at him. She almost wanted to offer to go check up on them for him, see how they were doing and report back. But she didn't know if that was an alright thing to do, so she kept quiet, wishing she hadn't asked him about it.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren sighed a bit. She was upset. He decided that he wouldn't ask. He would just let her tell him on her on free will. He fell silent again, his family fresh on his mind. "Well, I mean.. I know they're doing better," He confirmed. "I could see from Heaven," he confirmed. He smiled softly. "My little sister has her first job... and they have more money now that I'm gone, of course. Mom's not sick anymore, either. It makes me wonder if I was causing all the trouble," He said quietly, letting out a sigh. When ever he was out of it, he would just ramble. He didn't mean to, though. Part of Daren knew Belle probably didn't want to hear it, but part of him didn't care. He wanted to tell some one that didn't know how much he missed them and the guilt he felt. Belle was the one that fit the bill. He shook his head before the nurse came back in, carrying a plate and a drink for them both.
Daren sat up at last, hiding his dizziness. When she was gone again, he looked at her with a small smirk. "So. When are you gonna want to go check up on Nikita?" He asked in a knowing tone. He suspecting that a busy girl like Belle would get restless sitting in the small room. "You can go any time. Just do me a favor. Don't talk to any one. And if someone seems to be following you, splash them," He said softly. "And splash me when you get back," He added.

Belle nodded a bit hearing that he knew his family was doing better. He seemed to really care about them, which was wonderful. Part of her wished she could meet them, they seemed very nice... but he was technically dead, that couldn't happen. Shaking her head gently when he said he wondered if he was the cause of all the trouble, she said softly "I'm sure you weren't the cause of the trouble, and at least you knew they're doing better." Belle looked up when the door swung open, clutching her water bottle of holy water in her hands a bit tight. She was kind of scared that everyone was a demon now. She relaxed a bit however when the nurse smiled at them and gave them both food and drink. She thanked the nurse as she left and balanced her tray in her lap, sipping at the water she had been given. When she heard Daren mention Nikita, she couldn't help but grin.
"Probably soon, she's most likely back at home freaking out after that whole ordeal." she said gently, looking over at Daren and smiling. Her face became a bit more serious when Daren mentioned splashing people if they started following, but then she just started giggling, the normal, bubbly Belle resurfacing. "I'm probably going to be paranoid and splash some random person." she said between giggles, imagining how crazy the person would think she was for splashing them. She stifled her laughter after a moment and grinned at him before saying, her tone a bit more serious, "I will be careful though and will splash random people if I feel it's necessary." She lost her seriousness by the end however and giggled a bit again, feeling a bit better by letting herself laugh about it.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren huffed. He couldn't shake that feeling though. "Yeah, apparently they got the money from the military since I wouldn't be getting it. I thought that was cool. It helped a lot," He said with a smile. He was pleased that his death had brought them some good. "And they aren't sad anymore, so that's cool too," He said, shrugging a bit. The last thing he would want was for someone to grieve over him. They had for a few weeks, but then life went on, which is what Daren preferred. He looked down at his food and took a bite. He could only make a face. "Hospital food... hm..." He said, looking down at it. "Maybe we shoulda left until you left and you coulda gotten some food," He mentioned thoughtfully.
He looked up at her. "Then tell her I said hi," He said with a smirk. "I miss my buddy already," He pouted, poking his bottom lip out. He then chuckled a bit at how she brought humor into the situation. He couldn't stop himself from laughing when he envisioned her splashing some passerby for looking at her in a weird way. He shook his head a bit as the chuckles died down and drank his own water. "You're funny, Belle. I miss that in people. All the angels are so serious all the time," He said, rolling his eyes.

Belle nodded a bit hearing him talk about his family and how they benefited from his death. It was very strange to hear him talk about the fact that he had died when he was sitting right next to her. She shook the thought from her head however, rather thinking of him as human and her friend than a fallen angel. She still hadn't completely wrapped her mind around that yet. She grinned a bit when he took a bite of the hospital food, mentioning how gross it was. She pushed it around with her fork a bit, not really wanting to eat it, but she did, taking a bite of the toast that she was given. At least the toast was decent, and she was hungry. She munched on her toast and looked over at Daren, grinning a bit when he told her to say hi to Nikita.
"Ok, I'll let you know your missing her." she said with a small laugh, smiling brightly at Daren before she took another bite of her toast. When he said she was funny, she grinned a bit and said "Well, I try." She giggled a little more before taking another sip of her water and finishing off her toast. She stood from his bed and set her tray on the table beside his bed, most of her food untouched. "Okay, I'm going to run home real quick, take care of Nikki, get some stuff, and I should be back in like an hour or so... maybe a little more because I have to get a new phone, mine's a little smashed." she said gently, plans running through her head as she tried to determine how quickly she'd be able to get things done. "I'll be back asap though, I promise." she said with a smile, watching him and waiting for his response before she left.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren smiled at her. "Thanks very much," He said. He shoved back his plate. "Can you bring me some decent food?" He asked her. He bit his lip when she said she'd be gone for an hour or so. "Well... guess I'll just be laying here when ya get back then," He told her with a grin. Though, he was nervous. An hour was a long time, and he was out of commission for the day. What if she did get hurt? "And Belle?" He asked. "Please be careful," He finished, smiling kindly. He put his plate one the table and then drank his water before laying back down.
As soon as she was gone, Daren fell asleep without hesitation. He had been struggling that whole, time, and now he was free to do as he pleased. He was fine, though, because he fell into a dream. In the dream, there was a girl. She was curvy with blonde curls down to the middle of her back. Her eyes were green, and she was in a little white dress. Her wings were as long as she was, bigger than Jerome. Her skin was tan and soft; a band of freckles crossed her face. But more alluring than her body and face was her voice. She was calling out to him, singing almost. She was calling him back to Heaven, but she knew he couldn't go yet. She was waiting for him, asking him to wait for her too.

(( Sorry, I wrote a lot o.o ))
Belle grinned a bit when Daren asked for her to bring him some decent food, nodding and saying gently "Ya, no problem. I'll bring back a book and a movie or something too, it sounds like they might keep you overnight." She gave him a sympathetic smile and turned the handle, about to leave when he addressed her again. Turning to face him, she smiled gently when he asked her to please be careful. Wielding her bottle of holy water like it was a weapon, she giggled a bit before saying "I'll be fine, trust me." She smiled than waved her goodbye at him before stepping out the door, closing it behind her lightly. The truth was that she was scared, but bringing humor into things was kind of her way of dealing with things like this. She knew she could take care of herself, but a demon with superhuman strength was a whole different thing than fighting off a grown man - that she could do. She was only hoping that her year or so of training in self defense could help her with this whole situation.
She gave the blanket back to the desk receptionist and then remembered it was freezing outside and she was only wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top, complete with a pair of moccasins she had thrown on as she was running out the door. Well, this is going to be fun. she thought to herself, cursing herself mentally for being so scared this morning that she hadn't even grabbed a coat. Thankfully her apartment was only a few blocks away. Belle hurried home, not really paying attention to whether anyone was following her or not like she was supposed to because everyone was staring at her anyways for wearing what she was wearing. A lot of stares and ten minutes later, Belle arrived shivering at her front door. Unlocking it with shaky fingers, she stepped inside to be greeted by Nikita whining at the door. Locking the door behind her, she flipped on the light switch and fell on her knees next to her pup. "Aw, baby, it's okay, you're alright Nik." she said soothingly, hugging Nikita and petting her to try to get her to relax. She had obviously been freaking out since the whole situation a couple hours ago and Belle felt absolutely horrible for leaving her there alone. After a few minutes cuddling with her, Nikita calmed down enough for Belle to let her outside. Nikki didn't run around and play like usual though, she just did her business and ran right back in, watching Belle the whole time.
Belle let her back in and locked the back door, realizing Nikita had never gotten breakfast that morning. "Here you go girl." she said gently, pouring her overwhelmed dog some food and refilling her water bowl. She then went to the cabinet and poured herself some cereal, sitting down to eat a quick breakfast. "Daren says hi by the way, says he misses you." Belle mumbled at Nikita, who's tail wagged ever so slightly at the mention of Daren's name. It was like she was already attached to him, which made Belle smile a bit. She ate her cereal quickly then went upstairs, got a quick shower, and got dressed in a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a light pink loose fitting sweater, and a pair of tan mid-calf boots decorated with a belt buckle on the side. She dried her hair out and let it down, not really bothering with make-up. She had been told before that she didn't really need it, so she left it alone for today.
Once she was dressed and full, she packed up her backpack with her laptop and charger, some course work for her class, a couple DVDs for Daren to pick from, money, keys, and some food she grabbed from downstairs. She also grabbed a few water bottles, but made sure to keep on the labels on them. She tore the label off the bottle with holy water and placed it in the side pocket of the backpack for easy access. Once this was all done, she went downstairs and found her broken phone on the floor, watching as Nikita came up to her, her tail wagging gently. She was obviously feeling a little better now that Belle was back. Crouching down and petting Nikita, she looked her furry friend in the eyes, patting her head. "I know I've only been home for a little while Nikki, but I've gotta go back to the hospital and make sure Daren's going to be alright, okay? I'll make sure I'm back to feed you dinner and check on you again, that's a promise." she said gently to her pup, who looked a bit saddened that she had to leave again so soon. She'd only been home for about half an hour and although Nikita was used to her owner being busy, this was different and she could feel it. She wagged her tail and licked Belle face regardless, which made Belle mumble "Yuck, what have I told you about licking my face Nik?" and wipe her face off, giggling a bit as she stood up. Waving good bye to her dog, she left her house, locking her door securely behind her. She then climbed in her car and drove to the verizon store to get a new cell phone. She was there for about half an hour waiting for them to replace her phone, since she had a protection plan for incidents like this.
Once it was replaced, she went back out to her car, checking the time. She'd been gone for a little over an hour now, but she hadn't noticed anything out of place yet. She drove back to the hospital and parked her car in the lot out front. Grabbing her backpack from the passenger seat, she locked her car door and headed back inside. Just as she was about to step in the door, she noticed something that made her freeze and her heart stop for a moment. There was a very tall man with jet black hair standing across the parking lot, staring at her with what looked to her like black eyes. Swallowing hard and making her feet move again, she hurriedly entered the hospital, heading straight to Daren's room, where she walked in and plopped herself down on the seat beside his bed. "One of those things is outside of the hospital." she said simply, looking over at him with an odd expression on her face. She didn't look scared or anything, it was kind of a blank expression.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S ((Is okay. I wish I could write that much. Cx)) Daren was awakened by a rude nurse. He had been dreaming of Rachel, his... Well, she was an angel he was fairly close too, and that woman interrupted it. He groaned when he heard the line 'you can't sleep for another hour and a half'. she sighed as she looked down at him. "Come on, Doctor says you need to try walking again, Daren," She told the sleepy man. Daren could only nod and stand. While his world spun a bit, he seemed fine. He walked to the door and back again, which pleased the woman. He got back in bed by himself and stared at the muted television. He was so bored when he was alone and couldn't sleep. He watched the nurse take his plate away, frowning at how they didn't really eat. Especially Daren. He didn't really even eat his toast, for the fact that Belle was bringing tasteful food made him want to wait.
Daren laid back down, not bothering to get under the covers. He looked indifferent to being in the hospital now. Was his dream a hallucination? Could it have just been a dream? Or was Rachel really talking to him? Why wouldn't she come down to see him like Jerome? All those questions ran through his mind a billion times. That wasn't fair. His friend would visit, but his best friend (or more) wouldn't.
He was letting out a heavy sigh when Belle returned. His eyes first went to her hands, and a soft frown came to his face when he saw she didn't actually get the food. But he didn't blame her. She had to do a lot of things, and worrying about her soul being taken probably took up majority of her mind. His eyes widened and he bolted to his feet when she said there was a demon. He went to go look out the window, but he didn't really see the man. "Gah..." He muttered. That guy could have been any where. "He might have just been a watchdog... He said. "But it could have been the same demon from this morning... but most likely it was a watchdog... cause exorcisms make demons weak. And it wouldn't be a different demon because another one won't make its move until the first is gone," He informed her. He huffed a bit when his stomach growled. "I'll be out by tonight Belle. and I know you don't want to, but I'm really asking you to stay here. You didn't put holy water on the demon... obviously... so how do I know you can do it if one did go to attack you?" He asked, his voice quiet as he laid back down. His dream and being bedridden were starting to get to him, and it was written all over his face.

Belle watched nervously as Daren bolted to his feet to look out the window, not wanting him to over exert himself trying to get up. He seemed to be handling himself pretty well though, so she gently put her backpack on the floor in front of her and pulled out a water bottle, a pack of crackers, and a granola bar, and placed them on his bedside table. "I got some food, not much, but stuff that was easy to carry around. I have some more if you're still hungry." she said to him after he explained that the demon outside was probably a watchdog. She was about to tell him something else when he pretty much told her that he didn't think that she could handle this. I mean, it was oh so obvious since she hadn't run up to a demon and splashed holy water on him when he was all the way across the parking lot. Standing up and crossing her arms over her chest, she said "I can handle myself, Daren. Next time I'll make sure to run across the parking lot to a demon that was no where near me to splash holy water all over him, if that'll make you think I'm more capable."
There was more anger in her voice than most people would ever hear from her in her lifetime, but if there was one thing she hated more than anything, it was people thinking that she couldn't take care of herself. She'd been taking care of herself since she was about eight years old and even though this was a completely different situation, it angered her that he doubted her. She sat back down in her chair and made herself relax a bit, pulling another water bottle from her backpack and taking a sip from it. Once she was a bit calmer, she shook her head gently and ran a hair through her long blonde hair. "I'm sorry, I over-reacted, I just can take care of myself, alright? Please don't doubt that." she said gently, watching him with soft and slightly hurt blue eyes. She was just having a very rough day and her emotions were all over the place.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren looked at the granola bar. It wasn't what he had had in mind, but he shrugged it off and opened it to eat silently. His eye twitched a bit and he looked at her. "I enjoy how lightly you're taking this," He said sarcastically. "In case you didn't notice, a demon can appear anywhere. Anytime. Twenty yards away can become two feet away in three seconds," He announced with a mouthful of granola. He was starting to wonder if she realized the pressure they were both under until he got out of the hospital. He sighed heavier than ever and put the half eaten bar down and got up to lock the door. Then he looked down at her with a hand on his hip. "I sound like a douche, I know. But I'm more concerned with you being safe than you looking crazy. Your image isn't that important right now," He said. "Not to mention you didn't even try to put holy water on me like I told you to. I could have been possessed. I could have already killed you," He said, his voice strained. He grunted a bit and held his head. He was stressed already.
That was when Daren felt relaxing hands on his shoulders. He made a sound of relief and went to look who was behind him, but no one was there. Still, he heard Rachel's voice in his head, telling him to calm down. He'd scare Belle like that. He looked down at her again when she apologized. "No, you didn't overreact... I think I am.." He said. "But you have to understand that for the day I'm useless, Belle. I know you can handle yourself, but you have got to be willing to look crazy. And you have to be willing to do what Jerome and I say. I'm not saying you can't do it. I'm wondering if you will. If you were in a public place, and a demon went at you, would you really take out a bottle of water and pour it on them? What it's going to look like to humans is that you just poured normal water on your attacker. They'll think something is wrong with you," He said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'm just worried that your life is about to change severely. I was supposed to do this without letting that happen... but not everything is possible. I don't want you getting hurt at all and that's starting to make me paranoid," He confessed.

Belle clenched her teeth together when he made a sarcastic comment about her taking this lightly, lecturing her on how a demon could appear out of anywhere, anytime. And how they could move quickly and everything. She unclenched her teeth and swallowed another gulp of water, looking down at the floor and tapping her foot against the floor as she listened to him talk. When he got up to lock the door, she watched him, looking up as he went to stand in front of her, hand on his hip. And then he started lecturing her about her image. She scoffed a bit, then said "Do you really think I care about my image? Honestly? If I have to splash water all over someone that I think is a demon, then be wrong, I'll do it." She just kind of shook her head a bit when he mentioned how she hadn't splashed him with the holy water when she walked in. She just didn't really think he had been possessed, she had this crazy idea that she'd be able to tell.
She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest, sitting there and staring at him. She watched curiously as he suddenly relaxed and looked behind his shoulder, as if there was someone behind him. When he started saying that he had overreacted and that he wasn't sure she would dump a bottle of water on a demon in a public place - which angered her a bit - and then how her life was about to change severely and he hadn't wanted this to happen. Her anger faded and she sighed, the anger fading from her eyes. Running a hand through her hair, she said gently "I can promise you that I'll do what it takes to keep myself safe until this ordeal is over. If it's ever over. I'm not meaning to get angry with you or anything, I just, this is crazy. And you said earlier that the same demon will keep coming for me until it get's me or we get rid of it... and that another one won't move in until that one's gone. So will this really ever be over?" She sounded tired and a little scared, which is why her emotions were all over the place. She was more afraid that her life was never going to be normal again and she'd be dealing with these issues for the rest of her life.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren smirked as he listened to her. She had spunk. That was for sure. He listened to her saying how she didn't care about her image. He knew he had angered her, and it was a very understandable thing. He had kind of insulted her after all. Then he sighed "It'll end Belle. And even if it doesn't, I'll be your guardian angel... so I'll be fighting the demos from a distance," he said with a grin. No, he wouldn't be interacting with her after he got his wings back, but he'd still be helping her. Isn't that what mattered? He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. It was definitely time to change the topic. "Well alrighty. I can obviously walk fine. I've taken my nap. I'd say I check out to go," He said with a chuckle.
He looked at her as he unlocked the door. "Come on. Let's go back and see Nikita," He told her, knowing that the dog must have been freaked out still. he almost pitied the poor creature for having to witness that. After he got her answer, he yawned a bit and led her out of the room. He then decided to walk next to her so no one could snatch her away. They walked out of the stuffy hospital and out into the day. "I hate hospitals," He said for the third time with a roll of his eyes. He then began to walk down the side walk with her. He felt content knowing that he could actually defend her now. He hadn't meant to insult her earlier by saying she'd hesitate. Most humans would in this situation. Fighting demons wasn't something they should have to do. "You're reall brave," He said quietly, suddenly. "What with how you tried defending yourself if the apartment. Most humans would have begged for mercy or ran. You, however, did neither..." He said absently.

Belle looked up at Daren as she stood in front of her, nodding her head gently when he said it would end. She felt a little sad when he said he'd take care of her from a distance later on, since that meant she'd lose a friend. However, she should have realized from the moment she found out he was a fallen angel that he'd have to leave. She smiled at him a little when he placed a hand on her shoulder before he started talking about leaving. Standing up and throwing her backpack over her back, she said "Sounds like a good idea to me." She grinned a bit, then followed him out, laughing gently when he mentioned going to see Nikita. She was going to freak out when she saw him. She laughed a bit when he said he hated hospitals as they walked outside, pulling her keys out and pushing the unlock button. The car beeped as it unlocked and she got into the driver's side, waiting for him to get into the passenger's side door.
When he got in and mentioned that she was brave, she laughed a bit, turning the key in the ignition and backing out of the parking space. "I've had a lot of years to learn running and begging doesn't do any good, so I learned to fight back instead." she said, her tone very serious as she pulled out of the parking lot and started driving home. It was true though, she had a lot of experience with trying to run and hide or beg, but it never worked with her dad. When she learned to protect herself, she was finally successful at not getting physically injured or hurt in any other way.

D A R E N - * - H E I G H T S Daren watched her with a sad grin. He got in the car with a bit of fascination. "They've upgraded a bit," He muttered, looking at the interior of her car. He leaned back, though, and got used to it. He blinked and looked over at her. Once again curious about her past. He was finding it hard to retain his questions. "Hey, Belle... We all have gruesome pasts. So, I mean, I won't outright ask you about yours again, okay? But... but if yours gets too heavy to bear alone, I'm here," He said with a soft grin. He then fell silent all the way to her apartment. When they finally got in, he saw Nikita and smiled brightly. "Hey, girl," He greeted, reaching out slowly to pet her. He didn't know if she'd be paranoid of him now. ((Bad post is bad... but it is something for you. ^-^))
