So ya Nexus needs a new meister, he is an extremely powerful dual dark scythe and him and his old partner won the school wide tournament. He needs someone who can handle his black blood so that they are able to reach their full potential.

I like it a lot because he has very few abilities so there is room for growth but can he handle madness?

Yes, he can. Gokudera can handle any personality, because, like the bio said he had to be able to cause of the evil human town.
