Copper shook his head. "It's ink. I don't think you can eat it." Ca'an nodded slowly. "Then what's it for?" The older male just shrugged. He had no idea...
Zulani followed after Ciel, searching, but not calling out. It would get bad if she raised for voice. Ace of course went in another direction to call out to his son. Hopefully they'd find him soon...

Ink shook his head. “it’s just what comes off me. It doesn’t have a reason. Any reason you have a tail like that?” He rolled his head and headed to he water. The sooner the ink was off the fewer questions there would be.
Ciel kept calling out as loud as he could he took a moment to stop and look at Zulani. She said she couldn’t see well because of the sun? Was she ok now? He felt like he was dying of heat. “You ok Zulani?”

"Because my dad has a tail like this," Ca'an replied almost automatically. "And I think the stars are from my mom." Copper blinked. "You don't know?" The kit shook his head. "Daddy says that Mama's a star, and that's why she's not here." Copper didn't reply, as he caught the sound of someone calling. "I think someone's looking for you." Ca'an perked up and started calling back, but stayed where he was. "Daddy?"
Zulani blinked and nodded. "Y-Yes, I-I'm alright..." She was nearly blind, but she didn't have too much trouble following the sound of Ciel's footsteps. Then her ears caught the sound of a voice calling 'Daddy.' "I hear him."

Ink resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he got in the water and shook around so that he could get the ink off. The water turned darker around him. It would figure the kid had an answer for everything. They always did at that right. At least he was sure they did. He listened to Copper and little one talk no mother sounded bad, but better then a psycho like Copper’s mom. Did the dad mean the mom was dead? It sounded like it. An ear cocked as Ink listened to shouting.
Ciel picked up the pace calling for the little one. “Ca’an? Ca’an! Where are you?” He trusted Zulani to tell him where the little one would be because he hadn’t heard him calling out.

Zulani directed Ciel towards the sound of the kit, wincing when they broke into a clearing. She assumed Ca'an was in front of her somewhere, because the calling had been close and suddenly stopped... Ca'an continued to call out for his father, looking around as if trying to determine where his father was going to appear from. Then a strange pair showed up, giving the kit a puzzled look. "You aren't Daddy. Who're you?"(( Resurrection! ))

The little one certainly didn’t scared but definitely confused. “I’m Ciel and this is Zulani.” He gestured to the shy one next to him. “Um we are looking for Ca'an. His dad was looking for him. Your dad wouldn’t happen to be Ace and your name Ca’an?” He smiled at the kit and flicked his ears causing his little fishy charms to bounce about. This kid was orangey brown and Ciel was pretty sure this was the kid but he wanted to be sure. He was feeling really warm by now and was looking forward to getting to the cave.

"I'm Ca'an and everybody else calls Daddy 'Ace', so I guess so," the kit replied innocently. He looked around. "Where is my dad?" Without waiting for an answer, he called out again. "Daaaaaaaaddy!"
Zulani wearily bumped into Ciel, instantly bursting into a string of quiet apology as she corrected herself. It was hot and bright out... she wanted to get back to her cave... A ear pricked up after a few moments. "... He's coming."
Ace burst through the trees a few moments later, twigs and leaves sticking out of his fur. He swept up to his son, inspecting and questioning him like the worried parent that he was.
"Daaaad... I'm fine! Copper Pawn and Inkling were with me, and then Ciel and Zulani found me." Ace's eyes widened slightly at the name 'pawn', quickly lifting his head to look at the unfamiliar pair. "Copper Pawn?" The orange Gladier shrunk back and nodded. Ace tilted his head. "You're Lightning Pawn's brother?" Another nod. Ace smiled slightly. "You should tell him I said hello." Hugging his son to his side, he added, "Thanks for watching Ca'an."

Ciel smiled at the happy reunion and looked at the water considering a dip. Sadly the water looked a bit dirty for some reason. He nudged Zulani. “Hey where is that cave at?” He kept his voice quite so as not to disturb the happy scene in front of him. It would be best to slip away now while it was quite. He might have to take a dip in the water if he stayed her much longer. It was simply to warm.
Inkling was still hiding mostly in the water. Hearing the reaction and name Lightning his head popped up more but when ‘Ace’ seemed glad for it Ink calmed down and sunk back into the water. Copper was ok and this place was full of very strange others. A bat, some white fluffy thing and the cat and his child.

Zulani jumped slightly at the nudge, but managed not to freak out like before. "U-um... T-This way..." She quietly led Ciel away from the group, heading towards the cave she'd made her home.
Ca'an giggled at Inkling. "You look like a swamp monster when you're doing that," he informed the inky Gladier.
"Ca'an. Be nice." Ace chided gently. Copper Pawn watched for a moment, then hesitantly asked, "Um... how do you know Lightning Pawn?" Ace blinked, smiling sheepishly. "Ah, we grew up together. Zulani too." He glanced over to where the bat Gladier had been, eyes glittering in amusement. "Gone already... just like her."

Ciel smiled at her glad she was kind enough to understand what he was after. He was already so warm that he thought he might end up fainting and that would just be lame. He followed along after her. “Thanks Zu.”
Ink frowned at the little gladier. He stuck his tongue out. “And I know how to make you look like a wet kit if I tossed you in the shallow end.” He would never do that kind of thing of course but he took enough flack from Ithil and his responses were somewhat automated by this point. He moved next to Copper and looked at the father. “So then have you met Lightning’s witchy mate?” His tone was dry just thinking about how much one female could yell and shrieks like her.

Zulani's face was warm. "U-um... you're welcome..." She sighed in relief when they reached her cave, choosing a flat rock to sprawl out on and cool off.
Ca'an stuck out his tongue at Ink like the kit he was, though it went back into his mouth at his father's disapproving gaze.
Ace blinked slowly at Inkling's question, confusion becoming surprise and then absolute disbelief. "Lightning... has a mate?" He had a hard time believing that...

Flopping down he spread himself out on his stomach with his limbs going out as far as they could. Cool rock felt so nice. He sighed in heaven closing his eyes.
Ink chuckled but that stopped when Ace made his statement. So he didn’t know. Ink almost felt a bit jealous for that. “Yes.” He didn’t decide to elaborate just staying close to Copper’s side. If Ace wanted to know more he could go face the witch and find out himself.“Copper?"He looked at the male making sure he was alright.

Zulani remained still with her eyes closed until she was sufficiently cool. When she finally opened her eyes, her gaze fell on Ciel. An unexpected giggle bubbled out from her lips and she quickly covered her mouth to stop any future noises from escaping her unbidden. She didn't want to embarrass the other Gladier. He was friendly, and she didn't meet many friendly Gladiers around...
Copper smiled reassuringly at Ink. "I'm ok," he said softly. Since the bat female and the fluffy male had left, it wasn't crowded or anything. And this Ace character had been raised with Lightning Pawn, so he was probably safe. Hopefully. "We should probably start heading back, though," he suggested. "Otherwise Ithil will fuss."

Peeking up at Zulani he smiled at her lazily. “Is something funny?” His tail wiggled and he rolled over and flopped out like a fish on the rock. Winking at her he showed he knew how silly he looked, but he didn’t care it was so much cooler this way that it was worth it to him, besides Zulani had a nice giggle and it wasn’t at all mean. “It’s ok to laugh. As long as it’s in good fun.” He nodded sagely looking even sillier in that moment.
“fuss or freak?” His sarcasm wasn’t really needed but Ink felt like it. Still Copper had a point. “eh.. Lightning and the family live off that way.” He waved a paw off in the direction he thought it was in for Ace and his kid. “If you want to meet them it’s not that hard to find them. You can catch up and things.” He moved next to Copper’s side ready to go.

Zulani shook her head at his question, a paw in her mouth to keep from laughing again. But then he started doing even sillier things and giggles erupted from around the paws. Ciel was funny.
"Fuss," Copper replied innocently. "Freaking out is reserved for reckless behavior and mud."
Ace grinned at Copper's comment. "And somehow she's mated to Lightning." Lightning Pawn had always attracted both mud and reckless behavior. He shook his head to Inkling's offer. "I'd like to, but I have to go. My daughter's waiting for me to come back with the runaway here." He nudged Ca'an and starting to walk back towards home. "It was nice meeting you both. And thanks again for finding Ca'an." The faint sound of thunder made Ace pause and grin. "Besides... if a storm's coming, I doubt Lightning will be home."
Copper smiled and nodded. That was true. After they said their goodbyes, he headed back towards home with Inkling.
