Thankfully it seemed that his fears were unfounded, even as he thought them a green hatched from the remaining egg. She seemed calm and healthy enough and he breathed a sigh of relief...they had enough meat to hold them over for a while but the healer had brought up a good point and he nodded to her, tearing his gaze away from the green. They had brought some supplies of course - as no one had known how long this chase might take and they had been prepared to spend a couple of nights away from the Weyr if necessary.

"A good idea. We shall send someone back for blankets and hte like..and as soon as they have fed and are rested enough to move we'll make a camp somewhere out of this mist. I don't want to risk taking them back to the Weyr right away, too stressful on a newly hatched dragon and a new bond." D'lin glanced at Narisa to see if she agreed with this plan before he set it into motion.

Plexith rumbled approval at the Gold's words..yes they would someday learn what a mistake it had been to come against the Weyr, to threaten the homes of dragons, but the talk of hatchlings distracted him from the traitors and he crooned at the newly hatched green. 'As they should, fine hatchlings they are to have come through this strange beginning in such good shape.' He remarked.

Thrarothar

He lurked in the background. He had well and truly lost. There was no way he could deny that staring at the brown and Muburine. Of all the sharding.....
Some way. Some how. He would get even.

Muburine

He flushed slightly as the goldrider came over to assist; made worse by the hand on his shoulder. Muburine gave a shy smile to Narisa. "Yes ma'am. I mean no ma'am. I'll cut them small."

He gave a grateful look to D'lin for the knife and quickly knelt to continue cutting. The rules stated for candidates not to have weapons, so he hadn't thought to bring a knife for cutting meat. "Thank you sir. I will." Muburine glanced up as Belith spoke to him. "Right. I'll save some as I cut and feed you." True to his word he set some pieces aside for every couple he fed to the brown. Hearing the sounds of shell being broken he worked faster.

Muburine gave a soft curse as he knicked his thumb. Oh well. He glanced up in time to see a green head peeking out. She was cute. "Yeah yeah I know. You just chew those pieces ok?"

The new rider looked up as Narisa apologized. He shook his head. "No that's alright. He's alright and that's all that matters. You don't need to apologize for what they did. You got us here in time." He gave her another smile.

Belith crooned back at the adult brown. He was glad Hattath had brought His to him. Then he replied to the large bronze. His eyes whirling happily as he gave his wings a flap. There! His was going to feed him.

I am very hungry Mine, but we should save some for my sibling too. He glanced back over his shoulder at the egg. Belith watched the egg form cracks in between accepting pieces from His. He crooned as his rider nicked himself. Be careful Mine.

Soral gasped as the words entered his mind. "Aukoith," he echoed, stepping forward. "Yes, you'll get something to eat, don't worry," he assured his beautiful green hatchling. He crouched in front of his bonded little dragon.

Aukoith rumbled, she stepped toward her sibling and his bonded. She chose to stop a foot away from the two, waiting for Muburine to pass the meat to her bonded, for she would not take it from another hand.

Soral followed her over to Muburine. He could tell already that his dragon was going to be a steadfast partner. "Hello Muburine, Belith."

Muburine

He heard the new dragon approaching and looked up to see who the lucky new rider was. A grin split across his face as he saw Soral walking up with her. Now wasn't that funny? Both of them had Impressed.

"Grats Soral. Beautiful green. What's her name?" Dutifully he passed the meat chunks over to the other boy. "If they're too big lemme know K?" He went back to cutting pieces as Belith waited patiently.

The brown crooned to his sister as she came over with Hers. Hello Aukoith! Mine is working as fast as he can to cut the meat for us. As the green's rider approached and addressed him, the brown looked him over with green eyes, then, Hi!

"Her name is Aukoith," Soral replied, adding a thanks for the meat.

her eyes shone red until Soral gave her a piece of meat, then replied to her brother. She began to eat, taking her time so as not to choke, and also give her more time to think, for you didn't really have to concentrate when you were chewing food, just when you were biting or swallowing it.

Soral waved to the happy brown. "Looks like they both hatched alright."

And with no fuss, the green Impressed, too. The situation may have been strange, but the hatchlings certainly knew what they were doing. Just as well that these weren't the kind of hatchlings to hurt Candidates as t hey went, not even by accident. They didn't need any more trouble, and he wasn't sure they had any supplies with them to treat any injuries.

"Congratulations!" He heartily told the new rider, while Hatteth crooned his approval. As the hatchlings and weyrlings got down to the serious business of feeding the youngsters, J'nes decided to check and make sure there were no more eggs. Who knows, the thieves might have taken one of Sunnath's, too.
He went over to the bush that the green's egg had been pushed out from under and poked around under it, but all he found were egg shards. Thankfully the two eggs's shells were such different colors, so he could easily tell that all the egg fragments came from one of the two eggs, so there were no other missing hatchlings running around.

As he straightened up, he heard mention of someone going back for blankets and supplies. "I could go get supplies if you like," he offered. Heading back to the weyr might offer a chance to inquire how the rest of the hatching had gone, and if the other missing eggs were recovered.

Narisa smiled at Muburine, nodding her head in approval. "Good. I have faith you'll do just fine at this." Something that was heartened by the young man shaking off her apology. Yes, he would make a fine Rider indeed. Her smile turned soft and grateful. "We did, didn't we? I am truly happy you found your lifemate." Leaving the two to bond a little more while feeding, Narisa moved back beside D'lin and J'nes. A frown slowly formed as she caught the last of what the Bronzerider suggested.

"I don't like it, but we don't have much choice." She said after considering it all for a minute. "We might need to have someone do a flyover to see if there is anywhere that's not so... misty. And moist." The Goldrider glanced at the two hatchlings. "Especially so their skin can dry. And we need more oil." She added, glancing over at J'nes with a nod. "If you can make the trip back to get supplies, D'lin can you and Plexith find a spot for us all to camp out? The rest of us can stay with the hatchlings." She was... fairly sure they were pretty safe with Cepheith standing guard.

Her tail still swished in an agitated fashion, but as the second hatchling Impressed, Cepheith settled down quite a bit. A very strange beginning. Cepheith agreed, nuzzling Plexith in silent 'thanks'. I am proud of you, little ones. She crooned sweetly to Belith and Aukoith.

"Congratulations, Soral." Narisa said to the second young man as the large Green Impressed. "You have a fine young lady there." Her attention shifted to those that had not Impressed. Each one of them earned an encouraging smile. "You all have done well, considering how the day has gone. Don't give up, though!" She couldn't promise there would be a dragon for them during the next clutch, but she would do her best to encourage each of them to Stand again.

When the Goldrider addressed the un-impressed Becka hung back, she never expected to anyway, she was here mainly to give the hatchlings a once over but mostly to tend to any human injuries that might have occured, in fact she felt next to useless since no one really got hurt and the hatchlings were healthy and bonded. "If...if anyone is going back to the Weyr could i get a ride back?" she asked of the riders "i'm sure my master would like to know that we found at least two of the eggs and they hatched safely and healthily" she added, not wishing to stand around un-needed and probably un-wanted, any longer than she had to.

J'nes nodded at Narisa. "So I should pick up blankets, oil, probably bathing supplies for the hatchlings, food...anything else we might need? And supplies for how many people? We probably don't need to all stay here, especially the Candidates who didn't Impress."

Becka's question was a perfect example. He smiled over at her and said, "Certainly, I can take you back." He looked around at the rest of the group and added, "Anyone else want a ride back now? Hatteth could take one or two more."

But I want to stay with Hyweth's hatchlings, Hatteth complained, glancing up from watching the two eat.

Don't you want to tell Hyweth about her missing babies, and ask how the rest of the hatching went? J'nes pointed out. The brown paused, then had to rumble a consent. There were other dragonets to inquire after, and while he was sure they were all just as wonderful, he wanted to hear it from Hyweth.

"That sounds good." D'lin agreed when J'nes offered to make the trip for supplies and Narisa asked him to scout the area for a suitable camp. He would far rather stay close..even if the trip between to the Weyr would be quick he'd feel better staying here and picking out a campsite he felt was defensible and safe. Sad that one had to think of such things but though the thieves had left he had a hard time trusting on them to stay away - people who would steal eggs and endanger innocent hatchlings were not the sort of people one could count on to act honorably. "Have Cepheith call for Plex if you even think something might be wrong." He told Narisa "We won't be far away." He promised her, though they would be foolish to try anything with a gold standing guard he wouldn't be able to live with himself if something happened to them.

"Come on Plexith, work to do." He called the bronze away from his golden companion, taking a couple of running steps before using the bronzes offered forelimb to vault into his seat with well practiced ease. With a look to make sure everyone was clear he gave Plexith the command to rise and the bronze took to the air with several powerful downstrokes, gaining altitude before spiraling away to search for a suitable campsite.

Thrarothar

The brownrider's offer couldn't have come soon enough. Thrarothar pushed forward before anyone else could think to volunteer. "Me," he replied sourly. Like shards he'd stay around here after Muburine got the brown. Without waiting for any word, he strolled over to the brown then waited impatiently for its rider.

Muburine

“Aukoith. Pretty name for a pretty green. A pleasure to meet you.” Muburine nodded in his greeting to the large green. He diced some more pieces and passed Soral his share before a grin split across his face. “They sure did. I’m glad we got back in time for the hatchings.” It could have been bad if they hadn’t. But they had and that was in the past now. Belith was his now and forever.

“Thank you goldrider.” He gave another shy smile. Muburine glanced up as J’nes offered to go back for supplies and Narisa gave him a list. The new rider nervously cleared his throat. “And perhaps some better knives J’nes? That way I can be more effective and return D’lin’s to him without dulling it too much.” He glanced at the rider who’d given him the means to feed not only his hatchling but Soral’s as well. “No offence rider, but I figured you’d want it back before it’s cut too many more wherries.” An awkward grin accompanied his statement, hoping the rider took no offence. It was a very nice blade, but not really suited to this task, now a meat cleaver from the kitchens or perhaps a sharp carving knife would be idea.

The little brown gave a reassuring croon to his sibling. No it is not. But as long as we have food, I don’t mind staying. With that he eagerly opened his mouth to receive a small chunk and orders to “chew it”. Belith rolled his eyes but dutifully chewed, setting a good example for the green.

(Someone would be welcome to ask Muburine his new name since he's not thinking about it. ^_^)

A'in and Troiseth stood back watching as the higher colors and riders did their thing. Seemed all he was good for was pranks. Sighing the blue rider walked up to one of the new riders. "Congrats on your brown. Have you thought of what you are going to call yourself now?" He glanced over at the other, the one with a green. "Congrats to you too. She is a beautiful looking green."

For whatever reason, his flits decided now was the time to join him. One actually bringing a rag. "Well thanks for that, little one." He looked over at Troiseth, coming to realize that he had actually grabbed some oil, for just in case. "Narisa, I have some oil. Not much, but probably enough for the green for right now."

She smiled in understanding as Becka spoke up. "Of course you can. No one is being forced to stay here except our two new weyrlings. For it's too dangerous to take the young ones back just yet." Truly, Narisa did understand the uncomfortable factor that those who did not Impress would be feeling. And shaff is she was going to make them stay here any longer. "I would be grateful and appreciate it if you did pass along word to your Master on the condition of these two hatchlings." Narisa added to Becka.

"That sounds about right, J'nes. And if you're willing, I'd feel better knowing the Candidates made it back safely with you." Pausing, she glanced towards D'lin in consideration, allowing him to add anything in that they might need. "Probably some portable tents if possible." She added, looking back at J'nes with a sigh. "We'll probably be here for a few nights."

Hatteth, would you mind informing Suunath that we will join her and Hers soon? Cepheith had settled, lounging near them all with a watchful eye on the two hatchlings. I wish to know she is alright and that her hatchlings have all found theirs.

Narisa nodded to D'lin, glad to have him here with their group. Not because he was a Bronzerider, but because he was a friend. Hearing A'in, her expression lit up and she gave him a warm smile. "That is fantastic. Thank you, A'in. I might have enough for the Brown." She'd have to check her pack to make sure. Looking towards Muburine and Soral, Narisa raised her voice to speak with them. "If either of you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask myself," she glanced at A'in with a small questioning look, "and A'in here. We'll be glad to answer them for you."

As they got higher, the mists surrounding the hot springs dispersed and it was easier to see. It did not take D'lin and Plexith long to spot what looked ot be a suitable location - just outside the mists was a clearing, sheltered on three sides by some trees. They would not only help cut down on any wind that might some through but also keep the little campsite out of view unless one was directly overhead. That was important...the group had not gotten this far only to let the thieves return and wreak havoc now. Of course nothing could stop Wher's from tracking them.

'Circle lower so we can check it out.' D'lin urged his dragon in an attempt to banish these ugly thoughts from his mind. The closer inspection revealed the little area to be suitable..or at least as suitable as they were likely to find within the hatchlings ability to get there. 'What do you think?'

'It looks like it will work, we will only be here a short time.' Plexith replied, his eyes whirling as he tipped his head to better examine the ground as they circled.

'Exactly what I was thinking and it's not to far from the group, the hatchlings should be able to make it after eating.' D'lin stated and the decision was made. 'Send the others the location so they can head this way, we'll go and meet them.'

'We have found a suitable place to set up camp' Plexith shared with the other dragons in the group, sharing with them the location and route, thankfully for the young ones it was not far, and even as they spoke the bronze was wheeling on his wing tip to head back and rejoin the group.

Muburine

He cut quickly to try to keep ahead of the ravenous dragonet appetities. All the easy meat was soon stripped from the first wherry and he pulled the second over and started in. It wasn't long before another rider joined the group and congradulated them. Muburine looked up and gave a grin.

"Thank you sir. Ah.... no I haven't.... " He glanced toward Belith, unsure. That was something he hadn't even considered! A dragonrider now, he needed a dragonrider name.

Belith watched A'in cheerfully. Feeling His' uncertainty the brown crooned. Mu'rine? Mub'ne? M'rine? Yes. M'rine Mine. He loved the way it sounded.

M'rine gave a nod and a grin. "Belith says M'rine sir." He passed more meat to Soral. "How's she doing? What about you?" The new rider considered. Did he have an questions right now? Only one. Glancing between A'in and Narisa he asked, "do you really expect these two to eat all of these four wherries?" He dreaded if the answer was yes. That would be a lot of cutting. Not that he would mind, or it wasn't going to a good cause.

Several bites went down his throat rather quickly. He sat waiting patiently. Belith cocked his head. Plexith and His have found a place for us out of the mists M'rine. I am still very hungry though.
