Merida nodded as she went to the bathroom and filled a small glass with water. "Here, take this." She knelt back down next to Merrick and held the glass out to him. She looked back at Lorcan and sighed. "I'm afraid I don't know much about any of this."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Constance pulled out the hamburger and sausage, unwrapping them and setting them next to Alicia. "You know, it's nice to have someone else in here with me." She smiled at her friend. Alicia was really the only other true friend she had aside from Merida.

Alicia shrugged. "Most people think that magic means we don't act like others, yet sometimes it's acting 'normal' that eases the usual... craziness of life," she said with amusement as she drew the tip of her finger over the cellophane, parting it easily with a slight touch of telekinetic energy.
Merrick smiled slightly. "Arigato gozaimasu," he said quietly as he thanked her, unconsciously speaking in Japanese; he was naturally talented in speaking Japanese, though he'd been raised to speak English with a smattering of Gaelic.
Lorcán tilted his head. "I know a fair bit about magic, but not much beyond the mythology of Japanese lore, so knowledge of exactly what is happening may or may not be close," he said wryly. "I do know that Kitsune, traditionally, fall under the two categories of 'Yako' and 'Zenko', referring to 'malicious' or 'benevolent' respectively. I would suspect from his actions previously, he likely leans towards the latter side. Other supernatural abilities commonly attributed to the kitsune include possession, mouths or tails that generate fire or lightning (known as kitsune-bi; literally, fox-fire), willful manifestation in the dreams of others, flight, invisibility, and the creation of illusions so elaborate as to be almost indistinguishable from reality, though that is only what the myths claim. Reality may be similar or very different," he said wryly, thoughtful; he cocked an eyebrow when Merrick spoke in Japanese, his accent perfect to one of the Edogawa region of Tokyo, to the eastern edge of the city.

Constance smiled and nodded. "Doing normal things is nice." The music filled the kitchen, a soothing, familiar melody. It was a song she had always liked and she didn't know why. She was silent for a minute. "Alicia----do you remember a lot about your parents? Me..I remember bits and pieces. Like the fact that my father loved to read and listen to music. He would read to me all the time. But my mother...I can't remember her that well. Why do you think that is?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Merida nodded slowly as Lorcan spoke. "You know we do have two who might know a little more. Iris and Caroline came to us from Japan. Maybe they know more than we do?" She smiled a little at her second in command. "Last I saw them they were outside."

Alicia frowned slightly. "Unfortunately, I don't remember much about them... I do know I inherited my hair and eyes from my mother," she said quietly, her tone thoughtful. "I don't know, really; sometimes we forget things slowly... though in my case it was more... violent," she said quietly; she knew Constance would remember what she was referring to. When she was six, she'd been found wandering the streets only a few blocks from where she currently was. When they'd escorted her home, the witches were startled to find the house blown to splinters and burning; the largest fragment of the house they found was six inches thick and two feet long. Even to this day she had a blank of the days before and after that incident, unable to remember it at all.
Merrick blinked, thoughtful. He heard a soft scraping sound and glanced down, inhaling sharply. His fingernails had thickened and sharpened into claws a third of an inch long and the tips were scraping along the glass.
Iris tilted her head as she slipped out of the shadows before she spoke a couple of paces behind Merida. "Know more about what?" she said with a slight Japanese accent. Caroline giggled as Lorcán jerked in surprise, his gaze flicking to Iris.
Lorcán was about to speak when Iris spoke, making him jump slightly. He found it both amusing and slightly disturbing that the twins seemed to know when someone was talking about them.

Constance nodded, remember what she had been told about the witches finding Alicia. For some reason nobody would talk to Constance about her own family. She shook her head slightly. "I wish we could both remember." She smiled at her friend. "Well enough about that...let's just get this dinner started. I'll let you cook the main meal, and I'll make the dessert."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Merida chuckled and shook her head. She should have known that the two would show up when she started talking about them. That was one uncanny ability. "This," she said as she motioned towards Merrick. "One minute he looks like any normal human being and then that thing appears on the back of his hand and he looks like this."

Alicia grinned after a moment. "Let's do it, and have a little fun doing it," she said with amusement. She hooked a pot handle with her foot and flicked it as she tugged it out of the shelf, letting it somersault in the air before she caught it in one hand, settling it onto one of the back eyes.
Merrick exhaled, settling the glass on the floor next to him as he looked at his hand, watching the nails retract. A shiver shot down his spine before he felt a tingle on the back of his neck.
Iris blinked, taking a few steps forward and finally seeing Merrick. "He's a Kitsune? But how? The stories say that they're spirits rather than human," she said cautiously.
Lorcán tilted his head slightly, thoughtful. Seems they know little more than us about this, he thought. He blinked, noticing Merrick looking at his own hand before the tails and ears disappeared in a slight ripple of air.

Constance laughed and nodded. "Yeah, let's have a little fun." She snapped her fingers and everything she needed to make the dessert flew out of their places and hovered around her. Her eyes twinkled with mirth as she danced with the music. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Merida watched Merrick silently before turning back to Iris. "What else can you tell us? I must admit it's a little unnerving not knowing anything about this." She crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head.

Alicia laughed as the water flowed out of the faucet, doing a couple of loops before streaming into the pot as she tilted her head, the hamburger seeming to flip itself in time to the music as she turned just in time to catch a couple of bags of shredded Ricotta and Parmesan cheese, which she amused herself by juggling as the water quit flowing into the pot before the eye ignited, starting the water on its way to boiling.
Merrick rose slowly until he was crouched on the balls of his feet, the tips of his fingers slightly brushing the floor. "So it's possible that one or both of my parents are actually Kitsune... though I would think that only one is... least that's what my instincts are telling me," he said quietly.
Caroline tilted her head, tapping her chin with a finger whose nail was painted a deep teal swirled with gold glitter. "Supposedly, Zenko kitsune are servants to Inari, though the stories never say if Inari had children or not. It's possible that he did, though I don't know for sure since the myths never mentioned it and from the looks of that mark, its origins aren't Japanese in nature," she said idly, flicking her finger at Merrick's marked hand. "If the Lord of the Rings were true, I would have said the script was Elvish, but that's just a fantasy tale," she said idly. She had a habit of sounding like she didn't care about much other than her looks, but in some ways she was as intelligent as Lorcán if not more so.
Lorcán spoke ater a moment. "The script around the mark is definitely old Gaelic, possibly as early as eight or nine hundred AD; it appears to be some sort of binding mark, possibly to hide his magic... or perhaps his appearance, I can't be sure," he said thoughtfully.

((was thinking that Constance is part demon...her mother is a demon, but after Constance's father was killed her mother was taken and has been imprisoned...she is a "good demon"..of sorts))Constance turned to Alicia as the whisk moved by itself, stirring the batter for the cake she was making. "You know there's something about that Merrick. He's very cute, but there's something else..." she shook her head. "Never mind, ignore me." She turned back to her dessert. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Well that's more than what we had before," Merida sighed as she rubbed her eyes. "I think we all just need to take a rest. This has indeed been a very long day."

Alede OOC - A benevolent demon, aye.. Alicia tilted her head thoughtfully. "I know what you mean.... there's something magnetic about him, and I don't just mean when it comes to his appearance," she said softly, teasing her. She did know what Constance meant; she remembered when he'd saved her, all she'd felt like doing was blushing, though for the life of her wasn't sure why she had felt that way.
Merrick tilted his head. "No offense intended, but when was the last time you got some sleep? You look like the only reason you're still standing is sheer stubbornness," he said wryly, oddly amused for some reason. As he spoke, a low growl, almost like a dog in the distance, rumbled. He blinked, looking down at his abdomen before he sighed.
Caroline blinked before she giggled at Merrick's joke.
Lorcán chuckled under his breath, amused. He knew Merida was skilled, but also as stubborn as a mule when she put her mind to something.

"Constance....Constance..." "Huh, what?" Constance said as she looked around. She frowned a little. "Alicia...did you hear that?" She looked around, trying to find where the voice had come from. As she did a sharp pain filled her head and she cried out with pain, falling to the ground. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Two days ago," Merida said with a grin. "Maybe you're right. I need to..." She stopped and frowned, her head tilted to the side. Her eyes widened as she looked at Lorcan. "It's Constance, something is wrong..." She spun around and ran from the room.

"I don't think that was magic... but possibly sheer speed," Alicia had turned her head when Constance had initially spoke before she spoke again before she sensed something an instant before she cried out, dropping to the ground. Fortunately she managed to keep Constance's head from hitting the tiled floor.
Merrick frowned slightly when Merida's voice trailed off before he darted after Merida at high speed. To his surprise, it seemed as if his vision twisted and stretched almost as if he had tunnel vision for an instant before he skidded to a stop feet from the kitchen, breathing in short quick breaths.
Caroline frowned when Merida spoke and darted off towards the kitchen; she was somewhat surprised when Merrick darted after her. Her eyes widened when she saw the air ripple around Merrick before it shuddered and he simply vanished. She glanced at Iris, whose eyes widened in surprise. "Kare wo sagashi te nakatta baai, wareware ha ni kidhui te iru daro u utagau," she said in a low voice. Caroline tilted her head, shrugging one shoulder. "Datta... osoraku usui sokudo mahou to ha omowa nai," she said quietly. She wasn't surprised at her sister's confused look.
Lorcán tensed before he went to follow her when he felt a gust of air blast past him before he looked up, seeing nothing. He sighed before he ran towards the kitchens himself.

When Merida arrived at the kitchen, Constance was in the fetal position, Alicia's arms still around her. It looked like Alicia had managed to catch Constance before she hit the ground. "What happened?" Merida dropped to her knees next to them, reaching her had out to touch Constance.
"Don't touch, you'll break the connection. I am only just holding on." Someone else's voice came from Constance's mouth. When she lifted her head her eyes were a deep red, a demon's gaze. Her head tilted to the side as she regarded Merida. "Ah, little Merida. Taking care of my little girl, are you? Good..I always knew your family would..."
Merida's eyes widened. "Wait..what?..."
"Hush, I don't have much time. I finally got through after all these years." Her eyes closed for a moment before opening again. "I have been locked down here since they killed Constance's father. I couldn't help. I couldn't stop them." Constance's body shuddered. "Not much time...You have to be prepared. They are planning something. They are helping the witch hunters kill your kind. Giving them powers they shouldn't have. I don't know who is helping them but..." She cried out and stilled, eyes closing. Constance didn't move and the only indication that she was still alive was the rise and fall of her chest.

Alicia jumped slightly when Constance went quiet, confused, before Merrick spoke. She shivered slightly when she heard him growl, feeling the hair on the back of her neck rise sharply.
Merrick frowned slightly when Merida darted past him before he felt an itching as he glanced down at his hands, seeing them solidify. "Astral projection, although it was focused specifically on her," he said in a low voice as he stepped into the kitchen. He cocked his head slightly, his eyes narrowing fractionally before they rippled with golden light for a couple of seconds. His fists clenched as blood oozed between his knuckles as he gritted his teeth, a low feral sounding growl escaping. "Lance Grayson," he whispered. He remembered the witch traveler who had been headed northward when he was seven, though the man had only spent a single night at the monastery. He recalled that the witch had the ability of astral projection.

Merida looked up at Merrick. "Her mother...Constance's mother...she had the ability too. All demons do." She looked at Alicia and shrugged a little as an apology. "I couldn't tell her. Constance's parents...they weren't supposed to be together. A witch and a demon...especially when the demon is basically a princess in her world. When Constance's father was kill her mother was taken. They don't kill their own kind. They torture them. This confirms she is still alive." She rubbed her face. Merida touched Constance's face gently. "Constance, honey, please wake up."
Constance just groaned and turned her face away, shuddering. She was in a deep sleep and wouldn't wake for a while. It took a lot of energy from her, a lot of her strength, for the demon to be able to come through.
