How was an upstanding, decent man not who Jerry was? Did he not do his best? Did he not get things done? When he wasn't being crazy or drunk Jerry was a good man. He was a man she admired the optimism of, a man she adored despite what she had done to him. "Don't block out the bad things." She said quietly, slowly shaking her head. "What's stopping you from being happy other than yourself? Has anyone made a conscious effort to make you unhappy? If they have, kick their a**. I've seen you fight, you're so good with your weapon. Put them in their goddamn place. You're a Sun Hunter." Candace cupped his cheek, brushing his hair away in the process. "You just need to let things go. Move on. She wasn't enough for you. Don't think so poorly of yourself. You're a good man. You deserve to be happy, you can be. I know you can." She leaned in close but not for a kiss, instead she rest her forehead against Jerry's, closing her eyes. "I think you're perfectly capable of being the kind of man you want to be. You just...you need to calm down, have some quiet time, gain control as you say you want. Do something to clear your head of all this negativity."
There was a pause before she opened her eyes to look into Jerry's. "I'll be here for you if you want my help. Just tell me, I'll do anything you need. I'm sure the same can be said for anyone else who cares about you. Will you let us help you, Jerry? Please?"

Jerry's eyes had closed, just happy for the human contact. Her forehead was warm against his.
He pursed his lips, but his brain still felt like it was drowning.
"I.. I could use a haircut. I guess."

<******** finally. Is his hair such a big deal?He looks like a sexual offender with his hair and that mustache. They've got to go.I think he looks suave....I don't think we can be friends anymore. Atropos cackled. Candace rolled her eyes and then immediately brightened up again, lifting her head to leave a soft kiss against Jerry's forehead. "We'll start with a haircut and then we'll work on finding your <******** Jerryplace. Okay?" She paused. "...And...maybe a shave, too."Bilious I know I said I'd tag tomorrow but ******** it I had words ******** class="clear">

He flushed. A haircut... was a good start. He had tried to give himself a trim ages ago, but his expertise really was boiled down to putting a bowl on his head and cutting around it.
He didn't particularly want that look any more.
Then maybe it would get easier. He had a.... a friend here. He couldn't keep pushing people away.
"Okay."

And he agreed to a shave! Thank. God. Candace tried not to look too relieved. Instead she just ran her fingers through Jerry's hair, smiling warmly. "Your hair's still damp, it'll be easier to work with. Do you want it right now?" They were doing this Jerry's way. He was calling the shots right now.

"I... I guess so. Now or never, right?" He mumbled, scratching at his wet hair as he shifted on the couch. "Um. I guess i could drag the chair from my bedroom to the kitchenette."

"Nah, we'll do this in the bathroom." Candace let go of Jerry and stood, gesturing for him to follow her back to the bathroom. "You can go get your chair. I'll get things ready in here. Oh, do you have any other towels?"

"Um. Just a few. There's a hand towel in the kitchenette..." He offered. As awkward as it was around Candace... it was nice just having company.
Roar gave a rumble.
PEOPLE company, he assured the weapon. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate his mental room mate- it had been a relief to have him back. But they didn't exactly have common interests to talk about beyond women and frankly...
Jerry needed a friend more than he needed a woman just then.
He slumped his way into the bedroom, hefting up his folding chair and what extra towels he could find before making his way back over to the bathroom.
"I think the last trim I got... you did. Ahahaha."

"Okay~." Candace called out as Jerry explained what he had. She was busy looking for the things she needed. She opened the mirror and found his shaving kit, making a happy little noise and digging around for what she needed. Scissors, comb. Perfect. She either didn't notice or just didn't pay attention to Jerry's discomfort and hesitation. He would get over it, he had to. He wanted to be this confident man, he needed to be that confident man.
When he finally joined her in the bathroom she smiled and looked up, stepping aside to let him set up the chair. One towel was taken and put down on the floor where it could catch fallen hairs, the other tossed onto the counter until Jerry was ready to sit. "Geeze, really? No wonder it's so long. That was what...January? February?" One of those 'uary' months at the beginning of the year. She gestured for Jerry to sit. "Do you just want a trim or do you want short hair again?" Please want short hair. Please want short hair. Please, oh please, want short hair again.

"I kind of... like it longer, honestly." He set up the chair, tossing one of the towels down to sit on it. "Makes me feel like a rockstar, you know? Ahahaha. Well, maybe not really but... I mean. My Gram never let me grow my hair out. Figure now better than when I can't anymore right?" He smiled weakly. No need to explain it covered up what was an increasingly-stress-induced receding hairline.

Damnit!
Candace forced a somewhat strained smile and simple picked up the comb and scissors. He really wanted to keep it long? But...but he looked like a hobo. A sexually offensive hobo. "I suppose...are you...set on it being long? I mean, is it important to you?" She was intentionally trying to grow out her own hair but it seemed to be taking forever. Candace was worried for the day she would finally run out of the hair products she'd stocked up on to keep her hair soft and manageable.
"It's up to you! It's your hair after all, not mine."

Jerry glanced up again, his brows furrowed as an anxious expression gripped his face, "Does it really look that bad? I thought longer hair was 'cool', isn't it?"

At Jerry's question she shrugged and leaned forward, draping her arms over the man's shoulders and nestling her head beside his. Her lips were pouted thoughtfully as she looked at Jerry in the mirror. "Eh, it's not for everyone. I mean, it was nice to grab the other day...but.." How to put this delicately. "With the combination of long hair and mustache you look like something I'd rather not call you to spare your feelings. I can give you a trim and..attempt to style it, but I don't have anything to do that with until portals are open." She raised a hand to toy with Jerry's hair, humming as she pondered what to do. She'd made him anxious about his hair now, that hadn't been her intention.
Maybe if she let him keep it and just...trimmed it so it wasn't so hobo pirate-y.
"I'll keep it long if you shave off the 'stache."

"I thought the mustache distracted from the scars," He sighed, shaking his head.

"With as many people that have scars on this island, I don't think anyone's actually all that bothered with them. Do they bother you..?"
