Chad nodded in response to the orders given by Kadaj. He walked over to the space Kadaj had pointed to and pulled his bag off of his back and quickly went through it before finding his tent all wound up inside. He pulled it out after fighting with his bag for a few second and quickly set to work by pinning in the stakes at each corner. The tent was small, only big enough for one person because Chad didn’t originally plan on travelling with someone before earlier today. He’d been planning this trip ever since the death of his father, so naturally he was more than prepared in the event that he’d be travelling alone. What he didn’t take into account was that it seemed like Kadaj was now his partner and that he would need to make sure that Kadaj was well-prepared as well.
Once the tent was done, Chad stood up and wiped off a thin line of sweat that was beginning to form on his brow. He took several steps back and admired his work with great admiration. His father had taught him how to make tents as a child, so he was pretty happy about that. “Alright then Kadaj, I’m done, need help with the fire?” Chad turned to Kadaj and gave him a calm and peaceful look. Being out here in the woods really helped Chad come out of his shell and just allowed him to be able to think about life and where he was going from here, and to be honest, he was really happy with the road he was beginning to start working on for himself.

Chad smiled and stood up, finding it rather funny that Kadaj had basically spat out the doubt he had for Chad being able to start a fire. ‘I’ll show him’ Chad grabbed a piece of flint from his bag and the picked up a rock that was lying on the ground. He then made his way over to the pile of wood and began clicking the two together, creating sparks every time he did so. “It’s just about persistence and trying to get a rhythm going.” Chad did this over and over for at least two minutes before the fire came into place. It wasn’t very big, but then again, it seemed like Kadaj had failed to contain it. “I’m going to get some rocks. You set up your sleeping bag or tent and I’ll be right back.”
Chad walked around the camp site, not making much of an effort to get away since he needed to keep an eye on the fire to make sure that it didn’t escape the wood and land on the ground. The last thing he wanted to do was conjure some sort of forest fire and make the area burn down.

After gathering rocks and encircling them around the fire, Chad plopped down in front of the fire and watched it burn the wood. This was definitely the life. Chad loved the outdoors and the open flames with nothing but sounds coming from nature and of course, Kadaj’s loud mouth telling Chad how hot he was. If Chad didn’t know any better, he’d think that Kadaj was about to compare himself to the fire and say that he was hot or something.
Chad wasn’t fully aware of the other person in the vicinity though.

Chad was thinking about something, he couldn’t really remember what it was since there was an immediate disturbance in their little space, A Chandelure as well. As Chad looked at it, he was ready to get into a physical confrontation with the trainer of it since there was no way his Pokémon could take out this Chandelure and Chad couldn’t exactly punch it since it was a ghost type. “Kadaj!” Chad looked at Kadaj and then looked at the Chandelure before getting to his feet and getting into some sort of crappy stance that he had learned when he was little. It was times like these when he wished he learned something about fighting hand-to-hand, but the only thing his muscles were good for was heavy-lifting.
Chad exhaled a breath and realized soon enough that the Chandelure wasn’t an immediate threat, because after scaring Chad, it seemed to just float there as though its trainer had commanded it to do such a thing. “Kadaj, do you know anything about this?” Chad looked down to Kadaj, half-expecting him to say that he was actually a really powerful trainer who had a Chandelure, or at least something like that. But then again, Kadaj was too brash and naïve to seem like the kind of guy who would have that kind of Pokémon since after all, Kadaj had lost to Chad in a battle.
Chad was still half-tempted to punch someone still. His heart was pumping and his adrenaline racing, yeah, his peaceful state was definitely gone.

Chad’s demeanor calmed a bit after Kadaj explained that the Chandelure belonged to someone else. ‘Well no I wouldn’t get far at all. I’d probably end up in jail, especially for hitting a gym leader.’ Chad calmed himself after a moment of adrenaline. He didn’t fall for taunts so he wasn’t too inclined to take up ‘Dead Master’ on his offer. Instead, he sat quietly for a moment before letting his gaze return to the fire. “That’s a pretty strong Chandelure you have there.” Chad could tell just from its posture that it seemed like a pretty steady and able bodied Pokémon, although there was no way he could take it on right now, especially with his only Pokémon that could harm a ghost being his Nincada, but even that Pokémon would be knocked around like a piñata against that Chandelure.
“So I guess you’re a ghost type trainer huh?” Dead Master seemed like a dead give-away of what this guy was capable of. There was no point in even thinking of a strategy for how he could handle the Chandelure in a fight because its raw power would easily overwhelm anything in this beginner route.
Chad turned his attention back to Kadaj and let out a sigh of relief. At least Kadaj seemed to know him to some extent, maybe he could just let the two of them talk or something and listen quietly from the background. Who knows, he might just learn something about the two of them if he lets them focus on each other for the time being.

Chad thought for a moment before ultimately deciding that it would be best to bring his Pokémon out here so they could see what really power is like. “I should show you my Pokémon since you showed me yours. Now keep in mind they’re kind of weak, but Kadaj and I just started our journeys, so we can only get better.” Chad reached into his pocket and brought out two pokeballs.
The two pokeballs enlarged in his hand and in a blur of red light, a Smeargle and Nincada emerged. The Nincada immediately ran back to Chad after seeing the two stronger ghost type Pokémon while the Smeargle stood there, staring with a rather dull expression. It then tried to touch the Chandelure with its tail and realized it was impossible, causing the Smeargle nicknamed Sketch to sigh. It had really wanted to paint something on the ghost Pokémon, but since it was invisible, Sketch could see that that would be impossible.
“I didn’t nickname the Nincada, and the Smeargle’s nick-name is Sketch. Who knows, since you’re a gym leader, you might end up fighting with us eventually. Would that be cool you guys?” Nincada frantically shook its head no while Sketch frantically shook its head yes. The two were polar opposites, but at least one of them was eager to get the show on the road. Nincada didn’t like fighting things it knew it wouldn’t stand a chance against, which Chad kind of understood, since it wouldn’t really be fair to expect it to take on a Chandelure. “Are your nicknames for the Pokémon Mom and Dad?”
