But luck was still not with the pair as a car impaled them both as they tried to dart threw the next lane. BAM! Glitter buddy was spewed across the lane he was in. And he wasn't much better. He gave a wailing sob as he picked himself off the ground.
He gave a look around to see where his friends body was. Danny had every intention of bringing it back to bury it and make a grave for it back home.

All he could see in the road was a red gem. A very glittery red gem. Oh god it was glitter buddy. It had to be him nothing would ever glitter that much after it died. He ran back into the lane to get his dead friend.
Quickly he grabbed it then ran back to where he was. He was so so sorry.

He was wailing and sobbing glitter down his cheeks as he ran across another lane. He lifted up his head once making it to the safe point and howled as loud as his could for his lost pack-mate.

Unholy Jack, first his ghoulfriend and now Danny? We're they that attached to those stupid things? Maybe it was just a nurse deal.
Either way Mort hissed as Bells got hit again and yanked her oh of the way before a second could come, barely missing it himself. "Take pill," he told her, halfway between suggestion and order in his irritation with this damn road. "C'mon..."
And as for Yin and the three bears? Mort threw up his hands and growled a sigh, both glad he didn't have to go through this and also rather jealous that he didn't.

He gritted his teeth and ran past another lane full of cars making it to the other side. He then clung to his gem with more tears streaming down his glitter covered face. "Glitter...it...it...it was your FAVORITE!!!"He then shook his fist menacingly at the cars and as loud as his could nostrils and all flaring yelled. "I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!!!! REVEEENNNNNGEEEEE!!!! "You have to keep moving Mort," Yin called out encouragingly. Why the zomboil had not just jumped across was beyond him, but there was no reason to just stand in the middle of the road. Status: Why did the mantodae cross the road? Because he wasn't Mort.

Though Belladonna was grateful for Mort's kindness in saving her, the fact that he was beginning to order her around really didn't make her feel any better. Save her from an oncoming car? Romantic. Tell her what to do? Not so much. But he had been nice enough about it that Belladonna only pursed her lips and attempted to follow him. "I shall take one soon enough, don't worry." The witch assured him in a manner that seemed to belie the fact that she would do it on her time and suggestion. Noticing now that a bit of green had joined the purple across the street, Belladonna gave a feeble cheer. "Good job Yin! Excellent work!" Wait, had she somehow become the team cheerleader? Whatever. Once again Mort let go of the witch and dodged forward, a move she tried to replicate, only to, once again, be struck with a car. This time the witch got mad. "JACKDAMMIT!" She shouted angrily, one foot suddenly up to kick at a passing car. It didn't do her much good, but Belladonna at least had the sense to quickly pop one of her pills. So much for luck...

Sin couldn't bear to watch, but her eyes stayed focused on Mort and Belladonna anyway since Yin apparently had no troubles she needn't feel guilty about being the only one on the side of safety. Then again considering the fact that Desu seemed to be leading them deeper into Valentines territory perhaps she was standing on the more perilous side, but anything had to be better than getting run over right?
She was half tempted to try and dart back out and grab Belladonna, the sweet bubbly Reaper appeared to be losing her patience. She was so close...and yet so far! Mort wasn't faring any better, but he was undead he'd be fine. Oops! She had thought her time spent away from Amityville had helped cleanse her of her racism but apparently her subconscious still put undead at the bottom of the social hierarchy. The guilt just kept piling on.
There seemed to be a momentary break in the oncoming love bugs though and Sin gesture for the others to hurry up.
"Quick Run!" She paced nervously at the side of the road torn between guilt and good sense.

Whether or not Sin's shouts and Yin's terribly helpful suggestion actually motivated him, somehow Mort managed to avoid the next few cars through sheer unadulterated sjfigobeheywtjs. Maybe he had at last found a balance he could work with with his normally sluggish pace?
Though the sound of Belladonna's curse soured that small victory. Growling, he brandished the sword in a threatening manner and actively tried to slice at moving cars like he could cut a swarth for her to maneuver through. It bothered him immensely that this was all he could do without losing Fear and dissipating and it showed.

Besides the fact that this was getting ridiculous, Belladonna was also starting to get mad. Not at anyone in particular, just at how absolutely insane this was. And not fair. And silly. In her anger she puffed out her cheeks and tried not to get run over as she waited in the middle of the road. Which was also silly. The encouraging shout from Sin was... Wait, it sounded more worried than anything. And weirdly enough, that concern from the succubus melted all the anger in the witch's heart. Maybe this world was affecting her more than she thought, but Belladonna heaved a sigh before she flashed Sin a smile and darted forward where she narrowly missed being hit with a car. But with a triumphant shout, the witch whirled around and shouted again. "AW SWEET! I'm halfway! OK! OK, Bellsie, you can do this. You can absolutely do this!" The witch told herself, bouncing on her toes to keep herself focused. She could definitely, hopefully do this!

Halfway across the road was good, but all the way across was better. Plus! Two students had already made it, and she was so close now! But Mort was even closer and the witch really just wanted to be done. Sure to steel her nerves, Belladonna waited for a car to pass and then jumped out into the space it had previously been in. Surprised that had worked (honestly she thought she was going to run right into the thing with how poorly she'd been doing this), Belladonna kept on running until she promptly ran into Mort. Thankfully she'd missed his sword swing, but she looked up at him with a smile, as though surprised to find him here on the road with her. "Fancy meeting you here!" And then she winked. Don't get cocky, Miss Witch. "We're half way there! C'mon Mort, was can do this!!"

"Oof!" Mort staggered a bit from the collision and grimaced. "C-Careful, Bells..." But they there almost there! Just one more stretch of road left...
Why the idea possessed him, he didn't know. His limbs ached, his head felt like it was ready to fall off, and the second he hit the other side he was probably going to fall to his knees for a breather. But before he knew it, Mort had scooped the witch up into his arms with a grunt, tilted forward, and bee lined for the other side.

A mumbled 'sorry' was Mort's reply, but the witch still decided to cling to him despite the warning. But they were so close, all they had to do was cross one little more space of road and they'd be free! Free to frolic and romp around Valentine's Town and -- And suddenly Belladonna was in the air, more accurately safely in the arms of her beloved, and being carted across the street. Well, that was certainly one way to get across. Sure to keep from disrupting his path, the witch wrapped her arms around his neck and tried not to make any sounds that might distract him. Namely, shouting about how he could have gotten them killed with his heroics. But they crossed the remaining portion of the road just fine and once they arrived safely onto the sidewalk, Belladonna heaved a sigh of relief. "My hero!" She cooed as warmly as possible before she planted a kiss on Mort's cheek. With an excited wave Belladonna smiled at Sin and Yin, glad they had both made it already to safety. "Hi! Look, our valiant leader saved the day!"Now they only had to wait for the other three. Hopefully they would have much better luck than Mort or Belladonna had.

Mort didn't actually realize they were on the other side until a few seconds after the fact, at which point he finally ground to a shaky halt (which proved more difficult than he thought, so automatic were his legs' movements). He cold feel his body protesting the extra weight and let Belladonna back down with a soft grunt - and then said valiant leader promptly crumpled to his knees to catch his breath for a moment.
He also took the time to thank the dice Jack that they managed to get there without serious trouble. Although he did have to pop a few joints back in place after the event. Popping a pill - he sensed there was still something more after this to deal with - Mort then straightened up and wiped at his forehead, tired but at least looking quite pleased with himself beneath the glitter and blood. The kiss on his cheek could have been a gold medal.
"A-A-Ah, wouldn't say saved day but . . ." Aw hell, he let himself bask in the compliment for a few moments before the inevitable lecture about safety and heroics came up.

It was awkward watching Mort being kissed by someone that may have been tempered with...but Mort might have been tampered with himself. Still, public displays of affection? Yin judged. Yin judged hard. That was probably why they had been injured so much, too busy worrying about displays of affection. Maybe he should point that out to Mort if he got a chance to later, but he knew well from his time with Miss Danny that sometimes it was hard to determine what a ghoul would do. He had several hugs to prove that.
