i imagine the poly part gets quite a few qustions and odd looks

im still not sure if im bigender or just a cis person who really doesnt care. but im married and my husband already knows all the stuff i want to try and has already said no to alot of it so it doesnt matter too much to me

i think it was you in the guild who said they were third gender right? if i have that wrong im very sorry. but ive been meaning to ask what third gender was
Yeh- that's me. Third gendered is kind of a big term because it includes a bunch of things- some of them are other genders from different parts of the world, but those genders usually have very specific names from their cultures. It also includes genders like mine that aren't masculine or feminine but have a gender identity that is outside of both of those- which is also different than people who don't have a gender at all and are called agendered.

I just don't understand why there is such a controversy about it. I think it'd be kinda hard for every social networking site to include every type of sexuality and gender identification on the entire spectrum. Just because they don't have your option to chose from doesn't mean they're trying to discriminate.

But trying to discriminate and having your actions accidently discriminate doesn't change that it is still discrimination- that's why systemic discrimination is so dangerous, it gets ignored because people think that harm is only done by people who intend to cause harm.

It would be a good idea for them to cater to everyone possible. I suppose the real problem is trying not to offend anyone. People are sensitive about their identification sometimes and Facebook could get all kinds of bad publicity for unintentionally upsetting the other genders--and yes, unintentionally upsetting the religious.

The best solution I can think of would be including a neutral option. The person can write about what they are on their profile.
