╚══════════════╝ Asten enjoyed getting piggy-backed and slid down to the ground once they reached the exhibits they wanted to see. Still holding Gunji's hand, she followed him over to the foxes and cooed over at them herself, resisting the urge to actually go pet them. Wouldn't that just land them in a mess of trouble. "They're adorable!" she added with a laugh.
Catching sight of the timber wolves, she perked up and padded over, her usual instinctual fear of predators always gone when she got to look at the animals. The wolves stared back at her, their golden eyes meeting hers for a moment, before they prowled a bit closer. Losing interest when she didn't shift into something they could eat, the animals continued their normal activities. Asten just bounced on the balls of her feet with a giggle. She knew it was weird that she wasn't afraid, but who cared.
"I'm glad you have all the kitties and doggies back at home," she told Gunji over her shoulder. Even if the kittens insisted she was a chew toy.

Gunji smiled when Asten agreed that the forces were adorable. He watched them for a while until Asten moved over to some wolves. Seeing the large "kitties", Gunji followed Asten over to them. He watched as one of them came closer to Asten then walked away from her as if it had suddenly lost interest in her. Smiling at Asten's excitement, he watched the wolves curiously, wondering if they would do anything interesting. Last time he had come here they were marking their territory on the edges of the area they were being left in and a few people had been... Marked.
Gunji smiled when he was told that Asten was glad he had dogs and cats back home. He nodded in agreement. He love his stray pets.
"Oh! They're feeding them!" Gunji said with an excited expression when the zoo keepers came out to dump raw meat out for the wolves, who happily chased went for the food. The wolves tore the food apart and eat it as if they didn't care about the mess... The way they ate their food was awfully similar to the way Gunji are his food.

╚══════════════╝ Suddenly seeing the resemblance between how Gunji ate and the wolves ate, Asten grimaced a bit. Making a mental note not to actually think of how similar it was, the shifter backed away a bit as they ate, not that interested in them while they tore apart their meal. At least they didn't turn and try to eat her, too. That would have sucked.
Looking around, Asten began to walk around the rest of the exhibit curiously. There were lots of different 'kitties' to see and a few had litters for her to look at and fawn over. She was a sucker for anything cute and fuzzy, even if they would grow up into things big enough to eat her. They were still so cute! She had shifted a few times as a baby and had turned out to be a fuzzy little cygnet. Once her parents had stopped panicking, they had taken plenty of pictures, but she hadn't a clue where they would be now.
Asten sighed a little, wishing she'd had a normal life and hadn't been so stupid, but there was nothing she could do about it now. And she had Gunji now, anyway. That was nice. Even if he was a little bit odd. At least he didn't pretend to be normal like everyone else. Who wanted to be normal and boring?

Gunji smiled and watched the wolves eat a while longer before he noticed that Asten was gone. Blinking in confusion, he peeked over heads and walked around aimlessly. He looked at the "kitties" as he walked around, smiling at some adorable "baby kitties". He stills wasn't quite sure where Asten had gone though.
Panicking slightly, Gunji wandered around the "kitty" exhibit and wondered if Asten would run away form him. He felt his chest give a painful tug and continued to walk around aimlessly. He wasn't sure where he was going. Asten wouldn't run away... Especially after telling Gunji that she liked him... Would she? His chest gave another painful tug and Gunji grabbed at his chest, wondering why it hurt whenever the thought of Asten running away from him. He didn't want to think that she would do that.
When he finally spotted his large red hoodie, Gunji's eyes watered a bit and he ran to Asten like a lost child after they'd found their mother. Sniffling softly, Gunji hugged Asten close and buried his face in her hair. "I thought you ran away from me,' Gunji said, sniffling softly as he looked down at Asten with watery eyes. His heart was beating fast from relief and the previous panic.

╚══════════════╝ Asten blinked in surprise when Gunji suddenly came up and hugged her, saying he thought she'd run away. Hugging him back, the shifter nuzzled against him and looked up at him. "I promised I wouldn't run away, Gunji," she told him softly, feeling bad. She'd thought he'd seen her walk around or else she would have said something.
Reaching up, Asten gently touched his cheek and gave him a small smile. "Don't be sad, please. I promised, didn't I? I don't want to leave you anyway, I'm happy with you," she told him firmly. She wasn't just saying that, she meant it, every word. The realization that she didn't have anywhere to go anyway didn't even occur to her, as that didn't matter. Whether she had somewhere to run to or not, she wouldn't leave.
Asten snuggled back against him for a moment before moving up on her toes to give him a kiss on the lips to reassure him. Blushing a bit, the shifter wrapped her arms around his chest and nuzzled him happily.

Gunji blinked back his childish tears and looked down at Asten, nodding softly when she said she wouldn't run away. He clung to her nonetheless, not wanting to risk losing Asten. Again, people stared but Gunji just hugged Asten to himself as much as he could, nuzzling her head as he sniffled and tangled his fingers in her hair.
Gunji nodded again when she asked him not to be sad and promised she wouldn't run away. The words relieved Gunji and he calmed down, loosening his hold on Asten. He couldn't help but believe her when she spoke like that.
Feeling the kiss on his lips, Gunji smiled softly and kissed Asten back. He rubbed at his eyes then nuzzled her head as she nuzzled his chest. He really did love Asten more than anything. Breathing a second sigh of relief, Gunji nuzzled her again then let go of her, taking her hand. Gunji sighed softly then looked around him. "Do you want to look around more?' Gunji asked. He was a little sleepy now and had to work tonight.

╚══════════════╝ Shaking her head, Asten looked around for a moment before looking back at Gunji. He seemed a bit worn down and she wanted to just relax at home too. She'd gotten more excitement in the past few days than she had in years and her body was still adjusting to everything new. The exercise and new things were great, but a bit overwhelming after a while.
"I'd like to go home, actually," she admitted, holding his hand tightly. "We can come back another day, if you want," she added, so he didn't think she didn't like the zoo. Other than getting in trouble with the birds, she'd loved it. It was a lot of fun, way more than she'd had the last time she'd been to a zoo.
It was nice, to actually have a home to go home to, she realized with a smile at the man. Asten kept close against him, leaning up against his side.

Gunji nodded softly when she said that she wanted to go home, smiling at the thought of getting to come back here with Asten another day. He called their driver and lead them to the exit of the zoo. He adjusted the ears on Asten's head and smiled softly, nuzzling the top of Asten's head softly.
Once they were inside the car, he let Asten in the limo first, yawning softly again. When the car was moving, he flopped down onto the seat and plopped his head into Asten's lap. He smiled up at her then nuzzled her leg, sighing as he dozed off. It seemed they day had actually eaten up quite a bit of Gunji's energy. He needed to rest for work.
When the limo arrived home, Gunji was already dead asleep... Meaning it was going to be hard waking him up and getting him off Asten's lap.

╚══════════════╝ The ride home was quiet, since Gunji passed out pretty much right away. Asten was a bit surprised, since he always seemed to be going and going, and had to smile. Maybe he just wasn't used to having someone to do things with and burn off energy. She hadn't thought the day was that strenuous, but he did get excited over everything. No wonder he was exhausted.
When they got home, Asten shook him gently and was rewarded with a snore. The butler that came out didn't know what to do, as this was apparently new behavior for their master. "Maybe we can...carry him in?" he suggested hesitantly, not wanting to manhandle the man and get beaten if he woke up surprised. Asten winced at the suggestion and shook her head, for the same reasons the poor butler was thinking of.
"Gunji, wake up, my legs are falling asleep," Asten told him gently, shaking him a bit more.

Gunji groaned softly when he was shook the second time, yawning as he nuzzled Asten's lap softly. He dozed off a moment longer before he rubbed his eyes and glanced up at Asten. He rubbed his eyes and just stared at her for a while before a grin cracked over his face. Leaning up, he kissed Asten's lips softly before he sat up. "We're home already?" he asked, yawning softly as he scratched his head.
Gunji sighed and got out of the car, waiting for Asten to follow. He headed inside and yawned again. "Do you need anything? You can explore the house and everything... I'm going to take a nap. You can take one with me," he said to Asten. Gunji smiled softly at her before he headed upstairs and flopped down onto his... or their bed. Gunji trusted that Asten wouldn't un away from him. Not after their conversation at the zoo, right?
Gunji as asleep in seconds. He was usually a deep sleeper but managed to wake up on time for things most of the time. He slept until it was about dinner time and he could smell food coming from the kitchen. Food was always the best way to wake Gunji up. He shuffled out of bed to find Asten and tell her they should get ready for dinner. He would tell her that he had to go out and work after dinner as well.

╚══════════════╝ Asten thought about napping, but opted to explore and get some real food in her body before dinner instead. Snacking on some carrots while wandering through the library, which was surprisingly well-stocked, she finished up and headed into the music room instead. She really wanted to get back in the habit of singing and playing again, now that she had the freedom to do it. And Gunji seemed to like it.
Humming to herself, she flipped through the music sheets on the shelves until she found a few pieces she remembered and liked. Settling down on the bench, the shifter did a few exercises to warm her fingers up. It had been four years since she'd touched piano keys, but her fingers welcomed the touch as soon as she rested her hands on them. Her mind might need some practice, but her body was more than ready to get started.
Asten spent the afternoon going through songs, sometimes humming tunes in her head as she did. It was odd to be able to have one song in her thoughts while playing another, but she never got them tangled up. She'd had fun at the zoo, but this just relaxed her even more. Asten had never been able to play songs from memory, but she barely had to glance down at her fingers as they moved across the keys. It was more of a reassurance, having the music in front of her, than actually needing to read it. It just let her focus and daydream while she played.

Gunji could hear the piano from downstairs and followed the sound, knowing that it was Asten playing. His lion ears were crooked on his head from sleeping and his hair could almost pass off as a lion's mane. He stopped at the door and listened with a smile before he moved into the room and sat down with Asten suddenly wrapping his arms around her and nuzzling her neck. He didn't want to scare her but hoped to surprise.
"I don't want you to stop but it's dinner time," Gunji said, kissing her cheek as he sat back and scratched his head, untangling his hair. Gunji smiled and looked at Asten. He was excited to eat, seeming well rested and now energetic once again as he stood and took Asten's hand. He lead her to the dining room, where dinner was set. He sat down and let Asten sit beside or across from him. Wherever she wanted.
As Gunji began to eat rather messily, some of the staff had to leave the dining room, looking a little green, while other were perfectly used to Gunji's habit of eating like a starved animal. He really did look like the wolves when they were eating. Gunji tore food apart with his teeth and hands, hanging it above his mouth to eat it in one bite. Most people would get sick eating as fast as Gunji but he acted as if it was no big deal at all. Eating the way he did was completely normal to Gunji. People who told him it wasn't were called weird or ignored. Gunji loved food.

╚══════════════╝ Gunji had definitely startled her a little bit, but not enough to scare her. Just enough to make her jump a little in his arms. Smiling at the affection, Asten nodded and let him take her to the dining room. Sitting next to him and settling in the chair, she worked on her own food with an appreciative noise.
It was most definitely a good thing she was so used to Gunji's eating habits already. As long as she didn't actually watch him and concentrate on the horrible things he was doing to his food, it didn't bother her in the least. She did wonder why he ate like that instead of with utensils or something, but that seemed to be the sort of question someone would answer with, "That's Gunji." Not even worth asking about, in her opinion.
"You're going to work tonight again, right?" she asked curiously, chewing her own food and staying out of range of anything flown in her direction. She'd probably go back to the music room until she got tired if he was.

Gunji stopped eating for a moment to look up at Asten as he spoke. He swallowed, licked his fingers, and wiped his mouth before replying. "Yeah but I'll be as quick as possible, alright?" Gunji said, smiling softly before he finished off his meal. He wiped his mouth and fingers before he stood up and smiled at Asten.
"I'm going to get ready then. If you need anything, as a maid of butler, alright?" Gunji said, moving over to kiss the cover of her mouth before he headed upstairs to grab himself another red sweater since he had given his one from today to Asten. He quickly sharpened his claws before he put them on, heading out the door once he was ready. Gunji made his way towards where his victim for today was and went right to work. He wanted to be home early for Asten.
This one took a little longer though. Today's guy was bigger than usual so Gunji had a bit of difficulty trying not to get hit but he laughed like a madman the whole time anyways. The most he got was a tiny scratch on his cheek. Usually Gunji would give the person he was hunting down an extra dose of pain for even touching him but today, he just wanted to go home to Asten. By the time he was done, he was still a bloody mess though. He cleaned up the body then headed right home to Asten.

╚══════════════╝ Once Gunji had left, the shifter finished up her own dinner quickly. She tried to help take the dishes away, or do something, as she was in the habit of doing, but got chased out of the kitchen with a laugh. Shrugging and giving up, she headed back to the piano to enjoy her time alone.
It wasn't that she didn't like spending time with Gunji. She loved it. But in the last four years, she had almost never been alone, or even left alone. Having a little bit of time for herself, to get her head straight and adjust to her new life, was a blessing for Asten. Humming along softly as her fingers sailed through haunting lullabies and gentle songs, she didn't even pay attention as servants wandered past the doors perhaps more times than were necessary. They were so quiet about it, she didn't hear them, either.
Asten did want to stay up for Gunji, but after today she found herself more than ready for bed soon after it grew dark. Yawning, she closed up the piano carefully and padded up to her room. She changed into the shirt she'd slept in last night and brushed her hair out. It had dried into curls that didn't straighten out even with her brush, thanks to the braid. Running her hand through her hair with a shrug, Asten stretched before heading out the balcony doors to Gunji's room. She considered flying for a little, but her brain yelled at her to get - in - bed.
By the time he came home, she was already curled up in his bed with a pillow, several of the stray cats draped on or near her.
