Basics Character Name: STRIFE BATTLER
How often can you check/post to the event? Wildly varying between daily and weekly.
Looks: Imagine, if you will, a heroic man. No, not a hero -
the hero. Conviction can be read in his unmarked face, calm determination in blue eyes. Light brown hair, cut short, kept simple, perhaps a little messy. A brief patch of beard under his lip, over a rounded jaw. Simple clothing, a brown tunic atop a blue shirt and pants, simple boots. A dagger hangs from his hip, a spear from his back. His stance suggests confidence tempered by pain and care.
Now throw all that out. This is Strife Battler, and he is a douchebag.
This face bears the same look of conviction, but hollowed of any meaning, nothing but a show; these eyes the same shade of blue, full of something between arrogance and apathy. A face bearing a trite scar from right forehead to left cheek, crossing the nose. Blonde hair, slicked back into nearly straight spikes, a clean-shaven, blocked-off jaw, a single golden earring in the left ear. A white leather jacket with too many belts, white pants with just the one, both adorned with vaguely Asian dragons and vines, both in red. A breast plate and pauldrons, the former under the jacket, the latter atop it. Two blades on his back, two on his belt. His stance tells of overconfidence and apathy in equal portions, drawn up but with no real essence.
This is Strife Battler. He is not a douchebag. He is
the douchebag.
Personality: What greater hero could mankind hope for? What greater force of goodwill and righteousness? Well, it wouldn’t be hard to find one, really, despite his reputation. Strife sees a world that doesn’t quite revolve around himself, but he definitely has the most weight. The common man’s plight means little to him except as a vessel to push his stardom further. Never outright rude, Strife is very rarely particularly polite either.
Was he always this way? It’s hard to say; something somewhere in him tells him that the people around him deserve respect, something that has a subtle influence on his way. Too often it is overridden by his apathy and hunger for comfort and control. More particularly his apathy, in truth; he has what he wants, and is ultimately comfortable already.
Brief bio/introduction: Strife was born in poverty. Through the sweat of his own brow, he learned to wield a sword or four, and learned the magic that would propel him to be a hero. From there he went on to defeat the great warlord Greyskull and his Mighty Thong-Wearing Armies in a decisive battle atop a mesa. This brought Strife great fame, as it was generally agreed he had saved the world. After defeating the great warlord Greyskull, Strife went into retirement, from which he has emerged to do battle for charity, or so we told him.
Describe your fighting style: Strife is what is generally referred to (where he is from) as a “Manablade,” one who fights with the old knightly weapons but commands magic in the process. He lacks the pure, terrifying destructive power of a true mage, but he has abilities that allow him to fight them. The most important of these is his ability to ‘dash’ (more of a controlled, linear sequence of teleports) across the battlefield; he uses this in conjuction with his blade augmentations to close distance between himself and his foe with minimum wasted time, then either slice them to pieces (with any number of swords) on the spot or harry them and move out of range before they can rebalance themselves. When they begin to anticipate the dashes, as they inevitably will if they don't die quickly enough, he shakes things up a bit, juking the foe with false or inaccurate dashes. Should all of the above fail, and retreat is not an option, Strife will either dash straight into his target at great risk to his own life, or simply dash in and stay there, putting his real skill with the sword on the line, and guaranteeing that one of the two so engaged will die.
Describe your weapons: In truth, there is nothing particularly interesting about Strife’s swords. They’re relatively cheap, mass-produced types, without the vigor of a hand-crafted blade. Two of them, those on his hips, are
arming swords, while the pair resting on his back more closely resemble
tantos; these see significantly less use, as Strife is not actually particularly well-versed in their usage.
