Janis and him clean in silence until her stomach grumbled in protest. Maybe eating the whole dear was a good idea. She'd never been so hungry in her lift. And the deer.
Janis snapped to attetion and cures. "I'm sorry, Corny. Can you finish this? I need to cut up that deer before the meat spoils." she said quickly. She jumped up and quickly pulled back her hair before racing out the door.
It would be a weeks waste of work if she lost the meat now.

Cornelius nodded and let her pass by he dash across the floors sweeping his wash cloth along the boards. Every once in a while he put it back into the bucket to soak. As he worked he wondered why she'd called him "Corny" of all things. It sounded like a weird nickname. He worked though in an efficient method for another thirty minutes and managed to get all the grim off of her floors in her small home.

It was around that time Janis returned with several large slabs of deer. She's cut it up and hung it it the cold room it the back of her very large shed. Though she called it the shed it was like her own butcher shop.
Once again, she'd ruined a perfectly good white dress. She should have know better than to wear it. It ruin so easily.
"Care to eat lunch with me?" she asked with a smile, ready to cook them up. "Are you always this hungry? I don't know how you could stand it."

Cornelius put his rag back in the bucket stood up and said, "Okay, let's eat." His eyes targeting the deer. "And, yes, dragons are normally very hungry creatures. Male dragons tend to eat less though."

Janis was sure if she should be happy by that or not. Either way, she really couldn't complain. It was a little odd to suddenly have such an appetite. Still, she was happy that she was taking all this so well. Most people would be freaking. Then again... she doubted most people would try what she was.
Janis through the stakes onto a long cast iron grilling pan. She smiled with satifation as they started to sizzle. She stared at them still lost in thought. It accured to her that she'd never really seen a real life dragon before.
"I've never seen you as a dragon, Cornelius. What do you look like?" she asked.

Cornelius thought for a moment and then pulled out a small painting of himself someone had done for him.

User Image

"I've got hooves for my fore claws, big, thick legs, a really long neck huge wings, and a rather shaggy mane." I'm not sure how to describe myself more than this since I can't see every part of my body. Oh, and I have a pretty scaly tail. I'm mostly a greenish-brown color. Kind of earthy looking." He explained as best he could. He handed her the picture and then walked over to the grill to sniff at the steaks and try to take one.

"Oh, he remembered, we need to determine what kind of dragon you may be once you become one. I'm an Earth dragon it's why I have a large cave that's eighty feet tall, I should show you that, and a lot of strength in my body." He pumped his bicep to show this aspect of himself off to Janis to see if he might impress her.

Janis giggled. "Maybe I should have you do all of the heavy lifting arounf here." she teased, flipping the steaks.
She took the picture from him and stared at it. She wondered how anyone could be scared of him. She could seen the strength in the artist's rendering of him, but... she didn't know what it was but there seemed to be a gentleness too. Maybe she was just a romantic.
She looked at the picture again and then studied himout of the corner of her eye. He bore only a very slight resemblence to his dragon self. Something that probably protected him. But that light in his eyes was still there.
"The artist is very good." she commented. She pulled the steaks off. They were rare, but she was hungry and didn't care. "So, not all dragon have claws? Did your family have hooves? Which with I have them too? or claws?" she smile sheepishly.

"All dragons are different... My mother had hooves and my father had claws I inherited the hooves from you know who. Anyway, you'll look different fro me too, but you will still be a dragon. I really don't know what determines what kind of dragon you are, but that's what I know mostly." Cornelius stated.

Janis handed him his plate. "I see." she said thoughtfully. "I wonder why there are not more of you."
She sat at the table and began cutting into her steak. It was so good. She ate quickly and hungrily, talking in between every few bite.
"Um... I was... ur..." she blushed as a new question came to mind. She didn't know if she really wanted to voice it, but she did anyway. "You said earlier that I had a choice unless I somehow became pregnant. What... did you mean by that."

"Well, all dragons can naturally transform from human to dragon and back again, but when a female dragon becomes pregnant the baby becomes imbedded in the wall of their uterus or starts forming an egg shell around their soft, squish body. Due to the importance of a pregnancy's first weeks if one transforms too much during their early pregnancy they might hurt or lose their baby. Therefore, it's a good idea to decide if you want to stay human or be a dragon during your pregnancy." Cornelius stated as he took the plate from her and set it down on the table.

"You aren't thinking of becoming pregnant right? Because if you do you'll have to do many things if you wish to. You'll need to find a nest of course, but only if you wish to stay in your dragon form. This house would be too small for it. I could let my cave be a nest for you if you ever want to live there in the future. That is whenever you get pregnant."

He felt very weird talking about the subject. It almost felt like Janis was asking these questions more than out of curiosity. He leaned his elbows on the table and plopped his chin between the palm of his hands.

Janis was quiet again, her face very red. She ate the rest of her food in deep thought. Mainly scolding herself
Why had she even asked? Was that even important? She wasn't planning on staying a dragon, just trying it out. So it wasn't important to worry about babies. Right?
Cornelius's earlier statement of his quest to find a wife came to mind. She blushed at the thought once more. Did she want that? No. He was handsome and nice but she still didn't know him. Granted, this was a good chance to find out.
Her mind was only going around in circles. She banged her head gently on the table. "Janis you are hopeless." she told herself, talking aloud once again.

Cornelius ate his food and found the steaks very delicious. "I'm sorry I said some of the things I said. You probably didn't want to hear about how dragons reproduce, although, it might be important one day to you." While he said this he put his for down and said, "I can get the dishes for you."

He reached for Janis's plate and wondered how she'd respond.

Janis looked up and smiled slightly. "Thanks. I appreciate that." she sighed. She knew she had things to do today but didn't feel like it. Still, there was the man in that room she needed to take care of.
She groaned and leaned back, belly satified but feeling lazy. "I wish I didn't have to do anything today." she sighed again. "Will you be getting your books back?"

"I don't need to get my books back, at least I don't think I do." Cornelius stated as he leaned back in his chair "I brought every book I had from my cave, although, I could maybe bring you back some other things to satisfy your stomach or alleviate any pains you might feel in the future." He smiled and looked down at her belly. Underneath her dress it appeared more round and firm than before. He pat his own stomach trying to trick her into patting her own. It was a human trick that he'd picked up sometime ago. If one did something strange like rub their head long enough the other person would either subconsciously do the exact same thing or question why the person who was doing it did it.

Janis chucked. "Yup. More food would be good." she agreed and patted her own stomach. She frowned running her hands over it. She could easily feel the difference. "Wow, my stomach is even distended from all that meat." she chuckled.
She paused, realizing something odd about what he had said. "What do you mean by "pains"?" she asked with a confused look. She suddenly had an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach.
