Nero smiled and nodded at Selena, ready for her challenge. It would be interesting just once seeing how she handled herself. "We'll need to arrange that sometime soon." Nero observed with a chuckle. He kind of wanted to be able to show how good he was, maybe he could impress Selena. No one paid particular mind to the things he did, combat training was regular too at base for whoever was fighting their enemies.
The brown haired boy was glad when his idea was taken well. It sounded so peaceful, being able to relax with Selena and just watch something. The cliche TV scene where the boy and girl are watching a horror flick, and huddle close for each others comfort, passed in his head. He quickly dispelled such silly notion. Selena probably did not even spook easily.
He followed her upstairs, his hands free and laying calmly down against his sides. It was nice returning to her room. He was not so used to her scent yet that it could not register in his nose, the whole room still smelled wonderful, as did she no doubt. Nero observed Selena patiently as she went through the movies. It would be really good to watch on her big TV. At base, he did not even have one. Though any show he could catch online, if need be.
The choice sounded very good and Nero nodded eagerly. All those genres combined did not sound bad at all. Hopefully it would deliver to his expectations. "Awesome." Nero commented happily. It was then she went and got on her stomach on the bed, and he kinda wanted to be able to take such a comfortable pose as well. He could not help but think it might be odd though, and just sat down on the empty space. Selena's bed was pleasantly soft, it was probably amazing to sleep in. And then came the daydreams again. Nero tried to stay in the moment, the movie was starting.

Cyrus clenched the table lightly while he waited for her answer. He heart felt swelled up in his throat, choking him until she spoke. Holding him breathless throughout her uncertainty. And then finally, she agreed. The swelling was filled with air and descended back into his chest. He couldn't remember being happier...or more relived. For a second he feared her shyness would take over and make her say no. Cyrus took the paper and looked at it for a moment before slipping it in his pocket. "Great. I'll give you a call tomorrow." He said. The lights in the room all seemed to be...slightly brighter suddenly. Glowing like the late afternoon sun over the horizon, making her red hair appear like the fire from which she rose.
Cyrus hopped off the table, and headed for the door. He stopped at the entrance, and looked back at the phoenix. "Thanks Yukina. See you soon!" With that, Cyrus turned again and left the office. As his truck was still on the build site, Cyrus called for a taxi so that he would be able to collect his truck, and then drive back home.
Twenty minutes or so later, Cyrus pulled up to his and Selena's apartment. Locking up his truck, he walked inside his home, leaving his keys on a hook at the door. "Hey Selena!" He called out, knowing she was there somewhere as her car had been out front. There was a scrap of remains of food left in the kitchen, and Cyrus helped himself to the last piece of pizza that remained. Looking back over to the door, Cyrus couldn't help but notice the alien pair of shoes. They were obviously warn, so not the result of a shopping spree. Curious as to who the guest might be, Cyrus put down the pizza and walked over to Selena's room. Cyrus' wide frame nearly filled the doorway while he stood there, his eyes falling on the male stranger on his sister's bed. "And who might this be." Cyrus asked, innocently enough, though his eyes carried a darting suspicion aimed right at the boy. Well...it's a good thing he was in a good mood...

Selena was so engrossed in the movie that she and Nero were watching. Despite the fact that the movie had what she liked to call a few "jump scares", it didn't seem to phase her. She was the kind of person who could make fun of horror no matter what level it was on. She did not hear her brother's truck pull in the driveway, nor did she hear him walk in. Perhaps it was because she was too happy to notice anything else besides the fact that the man she was crushing on was in her room with her, on her bed, watching a really good movie.
Too bad it couldn't last. Her brother's voice filled her ears and Selena looked up to find Cyrus's wide frame standing in the doorway with his arms folded across his chest. He wasn't wearing a shirt either, which was a little odd. The young woman rolled her eyes. Here we go again, she thought. Dear God, she hoped he wouldn't chase Nero away. Her brother could be very intimidating when he wanted to. His broad physique was definitely enough to do that.
She pulled herself into a sitting position, put the movie on pause and smiled cheerfully at her brother. "Hey, Cy-duck. How was work?" she said rather innocently before looking over and "pretending" to just notice Nero. "Oh, right. This is my project partner, Nero. Nero, my older brother, Cyrus," she said casually introducing the two of them. She climbed off of the bed and walked over to her golden haired brother who towered over her and clapped him heartily on the shoulder. "So...did you have a good day at work? Why are you half naked? Did you manage to see Yukina today?" The questions came pouring out of her mouth like a waterfall of words.

((Bah! I forgot to put a shirt on him >.<))
Cyrus watched as his little sister pulled herself into a sitting position. He watched this mainly in her peripherals, as his gaze was primarily focused on Nero. Project partner his a**. Cyrus knew the look Selena got when she was crushing on someone. Their mother always said him and Selena always got that same look. Like they had just witnessed an angel fall before them from the heavens. Though Cyrus did not know what Nero's intentions were, which was what worried him. He knew what college boys were like, as he used to be one. He was determined to not let Selena near 90% of them until they reached some sense of puberty. Now if Nero was in the 10%...well that what something boy would have to prove himself.
"There was an accident at work and I had to use my shirt as a bandage." He explained to Selena. "I suppose I must have left it in Yukina's office." That likely sparked more questions then it answered. "So...project partners huh? What's the project on?" Cyrus then asked, looking back to Nero. It was then that he noticed that the shirt Nero was wearing looked oddly like his. Could have been a coincidence of course, which was why Cyrus didn't bring it up just yet.

Selena's features expressed concern for her older brother when he mentioned that he had gotten into an accident at work. An accident? She perused him, her eyes traveling up and down in a manner that was examining him for any injuries and not in a lecturous incestuous way. He seemed all right, but he mentioned Yukina so she must have taken good care of him. "She'll make you a good wife someday," Selena nodded, speaking bluntly, not caring about the fact that Nero could probably hear them. It was very much true. She'd always thought that Yukina would be good for her older brother.
The younger sister noticed that Cyrus was glancing at the shirt Nero was wearing. "Oh...right. About that...Well, you see...I had a clumsy moment and ended up spilling iced tea all over him so I let him borrow one of your t-shirts while I threw his shirt in the dryer." She walked over to her bag and knelt down, unzipping it to pull out the few notes that detailed the project and held them out to Cyrus. "I told you. It's a very very big project. We have to basically design a whole neighborhood of twenty houses by the end of the year and we were each assigned project partners." So you can stop acting like a complete tool already," she thought to herself narrowing her eyes at her ridiculously overprotective older brother.

In the midst of the movie, a rather good movie at that, Nero could have sworn he heard someone enter the house. He gave a glance to Selena before concentrating back to the movie, she did not seem bothered so he was not going to either. It was a very pleasant moment, sitting there with this goddess of a girl and just relaxing. Not much could ruin such a thing, but apparently something was going to give it their best shot.
Nero looked up as a stranger appeared in the room's doorway, his confusion quickly explained by Selena's greeting to the man. "Hi." Nero greeted simply and gave a small wave of his right hand with a calm smile. Her brother was quite bulky, and Nero figured he had to regularly do some very tough labour to build that physique. Selena was quite quick to take the initiative here, introducing them, explaining everything. Her brother seemed a bit worried, probably just surprised to see the new person. Nero wondered if Selena often brought a lot of friends over for work, food and a movie. Frankly he wished he was the special exception.
As they talked, Nero felt no need to interrupt or disturb them, and turned his attention back to the movie. It was of course hard to concentrate, he was curious and eavesdropped whenever the TV did not show a scene interesting enough to maintain his attention. Nero found out there was a 'Yukina' involved in this somewhere, probably a long time girlfriend since Selena mentioned the person becoming a wife to her brother.
When she mentioned the iced tea, Nero felt a need to turn back and look up at the two siblings. He smiled sheepishly, not wanting to show any displeasure at what had happened. He was quickly over it. Nero nodded silently when Selena explained their project to Cyrus and once again, his emerald eyes concentrated back on the movie. It was rather evident that Selena was far more talkative than him, and obviously far more comfortable talking to Cyrus since Nero had never met him before. The brown haired boy felt it would be quite rude to get in between them in any way.

Cyrus saw her worried look. "I fell from a scaffold and drove a nail through my hand. But don't worry, Yukina took care of it." Cyrus held out his hand so that his sister would be able to see and ease her worries. When she mentioned Yukina being a good wife, Cyrus was silent for a moment, and then nodded thoughtfully. "Hopfully..." He murmured. If only he could manage to break through the shell of the shy red haired phoenix.
A small chuckle passed through his lips when Selena explained about the shirt. Okay, props to the kid for taking the clumsiness well. Selena could be quite a handful on her worse days. Moving with her quick paced conversation, Cyrus took the notes from her hands and looked them over. Okay...so there was some truth behind her story. Though he could still make sure no funny business went on with his sister. "You know...I could give you two a hand. To help you make sure your buildings would be weight supporting, safe, and what not." He offered, grinning while looking over at the boy Nero on the bed.
"Hey Selena...could I talk to you for just a second." Cyrus asked, handing her back the notes and lightly pulling her from the room. "We'll be back in just a moment Nero. I just want to borrow my sister for a second. Excuse us." Cyrus said polity, being oddly on his best behavior. Once he had pulled Selena back into the kitchen, he was grinning ear to ear. "So...how about we strike a deal?" He leaned against the counter and pulled Yukina's number from his pocket. "You, come to dinner with me and Yukina tomorrow night, and I won't sharpen my axe in front of the kid. Deal?"

Selena could feel her periwinkle orbs growing larger as Cyrus mentioned the details of his accident. A nail? Ouch. That had to hurt. He probably wasn't wearing his harness or it had somehow snapped. It was a foolish move on his part, but she beamed when Cyrus expressed hope that Yukina would open up to him more and perhaps become something more than an acquaintance. Perhaps if that happened, her elder brother wouldn't always be trying to get in the way of her own romantic feelings.
Selena shook her head from side to side as a way of saying no. "I know what you'll do. You won't let us alone for one minute. You'll be right in the middle most likely giving Nero the evil eye each time he even looks at me," she said bluntly. She knew her brother very well. She had to. She had known him her entire life. Selena was a rather passive young woman with an even temper, but it sometimes did get tiring each time her brother chased away a potential guy and she really felt something with Nero, something stonger than what she had felt with the others. She hoped that her brother wouldn't try to ruin it.
The ebony haired young woman followed her brother outside and down the stairs to the kitchen where they were out of ear shot from Nero. If he was about to give her a lecture on the evils of men she didn't want to hear it. She soon found out why he wanted to talk to her. Her periwinkle eyes narrowed the soft blue turning into a cold storm of suspicion. "Something tells me you're just using me so that Yukina will say yes." She examined her nails casually.
"I have half a mind to say no because I don't appreciate it. However, if you allow me to invite Nero, I won't tell Yukina how you blackmailed me and threatened him." She looked up at her elder brother with eyes that indicated that she was quite serious. "What do you say? It's your choice. Take it or leave it. Yes she might have blackmailed him as well, but it was a dog eat dog world out there. She was not about to be the third wheel at some dinner.

Wow, that sounded painful. Nero did not see any harm on the man though, maybe that scaffold was not very high, and the nail not too big. It was a relief, he would not want anyone close to Selena hurt. The idea of him giving them assistance was not... too bad. Nero had been enjoying the privacy they shared, but he figured at least they would work better as a trio.
Nero smiled back to the grinning man, he appeared quite pleased. The boy nodded quietly in reply when the brother wanted to take Selena for a moment. Not like he could stop them, though he felt less comfortable without her presence, and being alone in her room. Well, it would not take too long, he hoped. Nero turned his attention to the TV, wondering what the two might be talking about, while paying attention to the movie that was still on. Nero was quite sure that Selena's brother was genuinely a very nice guy, there was no reason to believe otherwise. Oddly smiley perhaps, but Selena had that feature about her, and her smile just lighted up his heart. Nero was losing himself in his daydreams while waiting.

Cyrus frowned, he must have really ticked his sister off for her to sinical all of a sudden. She didn't seem to understand sometimes that he was just trying to protect her from all the scumbags out there. He's been protecting her for his entire life...that wasn't about to change now. "Actually I was thinking you loved your big brother and would be willing to do him a favor out of the goodness of your heart. You know what Yukina's like. If I didn't bring you along she would have got scared off." He pointed out. She wouldn't be able to argue.
Cyrus was silent for a long moment at her terms. He didn't like it. But at least...he would be able to keep an eye on the kid, get a feel for what kind of man he was. "Okay fine. You can bring Nero. I just hope it doesn't make Yukina feel like she's in a double date. The dinner was meant as a thank you to her, since she wouldn't let me pay to heal my hand." Cyrus murmured. He glanced over to Selena's room briefly. "Well...I suppose I'll let you go back to your company now. Just remember where his soft bits are in case he tries anything." Cyrus chuckled slightly at that, and kissed his sisters forehead. "Thanks Sis. I'll be in my workshop if you need me!" And with that, Cyrus left and went into the spare bedroom of the apartment to work for a while. With a dinner with yukina looming in the near future, even the presence of Nero couldn't get him down now.

Selena's periwinkle eyes softened as she looked up at her older brother. She knew that he was only trying to protect her like he had been doing their entire life. He didn't want to see her get hurt. She opened her mouth and let out a sigh as he gave his reasonings as to why he wanted her to come along. No...she couldn't argue with him. If she didn't go then Yukina would be too scared to talk to him again.
Her lips spread into a smile when he agreed to let her invite Nero. "Thanks, Cy. Just please don't say or do anything that will scare him off," she pleaded closing her eyes as he kissed her softly on the forehead like he usually did. She chuckled as he reminded her of a guy's soft and most sensitive spots and watched as her brother went into his workshop before turning and walking back up the stairs to her room. She felt terrible for leaving Nero after she had said she wasn't going to leave him alone anymore while he was here.
"Sorry about that," she said as she walked back into the room and closed the door behind her. She walked towards the bed and sat down. "Hey, before we get too engrossed into the movie again, I was wondering if you wanted to have dinner with me tomorrow night. My brother is inviting his friend Yukina and wanted me to come along so she doesn't feel uncomfortable. I kind of don't want to feel like a third wheel so I'd really like it if you came with me. I'd really enjoy your company." She hoped he'd say yes.

Nero looked back out to the door as he could hear footsteps coming up the stairs, and he smiled happily when he found it was Selena. She apologized and he simply shook his head. "No, it's alright." He replied softly, his smile everlasting. Selena came and sat down on the bed, and then offered something very unexpected.
Dinner! With Selena! Maybe a little hurried since it was tomorrow, but great! She even said she would really enjoy his company out there, and Nero did not mind at all that this Yukina and Selena's brother would be present. He was going to be having dinner with Selena. Nero was smiling widely and eagerly nodded. "Y-yeah, I'll come. What time?" Nero spoke quickly, trying hard not to be too loud or too fast with his words. He simply wondered about the timing and place now, where and when would they be going?
But then, what would he wear? Nero noted that he did not exactly have a wardrobe of nice, 'having dinner out' clothes. Could he just go buy some? He did have money on him. Perhaps his own collared shirts, some black slacks, would do though. Nero was quite truthfully just nervous and excited about the coming... could he call it a date? A date with Selena. His heart wanted to sing.

Selena waited patiently for Nero to decide. The wait seemed to last for an eternity. She mentally prayed that he would accept, otherwise she would be forced to endure a dinner alone on the other side of a fancy dinner table while Yukina and Cyrus gazed into each other's eyes all night. It came to a great surprise to the ebony haired young woman when Nero accepted her invitation. "Really? You'll go with me?" Before she could stop herself she threw her arms around him in a tight and happy embrace. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have no idea how much this means to me!"
It was then she realized what she had done and quickly let go of him, a very deep tinge painting her pale cheeks. "Er...sorry about that," she said sheepishly before she slid herself off the bed and walked over to her desk. Pulling open one of the drawers in the side, she pulled out some colored sticky post-its and a pen then walked back over to the bed and sat down. She wrote something down before peeling the sticky note off and handing it to Nero. "This is my cell number. You can call me if you have any questions about the time we're supposed to be going or anything else." She also handed him the post-it booklets and the pen. "Here, give me your number too in case I end up having to call you."

Nero blushed when Selena's arms were suddenly around him. Her warmth and stunning good scent overwhelmed him and left him in a daze, even after she withdrew. He was smiling at Selena sheepishly, his eyes focused on hers, and all he could think about was getting another hug. Selena even said it meant much to her. Nero was overjoyed.
"It's alright." Nero spoke softly when she apologized, thinking it surely was not anything to be sorry for. He watched after her happily when she went to the desk, and returned with a pen and post-its. When he took the note and looked it over, he could only hope it was her number, and then she confirmed his suspicions - Nero grinned happily in reply and nodded.
"Yeah." He agreed and took to hand the post-its and pen, and went ahead and scribbled his number down. He handed it back to her quickly and continued smiling.
"That's it. Call me anytime." He said happily. "Anything else?" The day was getting on, and while he would love to stay, indefinitely if he could, Nero did not want to overstay his welcome.

Selena did not want Nero to leave. She wished he could stay, but she knew that he had to get home and get a good night's rest just like she did, but there was somewhere she would need to go first. She needed something nice to wear to dinner as what she had in her closet wouldn't exactly suit a nice restaurant. She accepted the number he gave her. "Thank you. I'll call you or you can call me," she said with a light smile before shaking her head.
"I don't think so. Do you have to leave now?" she asked wanting him to stay, but understanding that he couldn't much longer. "There is some place I sort of need to be, but I can give you a ride to your house if you want me to," she offered. She didn't know how far away he lived and she didn't want him to have to walk a long distance.
