Telara's eyes did not leave Kinetav's. He would find her measured stare increasingly more uncomfortable as his words did nothing to deflect it. She watched him unerringly, and she hardly seemed to blink. When he was finished, that strange smile still remained on her lips. "I could imagine that he got out of it just like we entered it. Using his legs. It's easy to lose track of objects, especially in the dark. It's much harder to lose track of people. You happen to be a person of great interest to me, Anima. A person who was nowhere to be seen as we massed our banners, even in the tunnel. I expected you to be one of the first here, seeing as you share so much with our Lord; seeing as he spared your life and invited you to dwell among us. We honor your kind here... yet you shied from the conflict completely? Your lack of gratitude offends me."

The Kokoro did not appear offended. She seemed pleased. "Despite your cowardly transgression against my people, I will honor your questions with my own answers. I never trust my Lord's words, only what they lead to. He is a creature of darkness exactly as you are... the difference between you is that when he lies, it is never without just cause; cause that keeps the tribes together and gives us the strength to survive. Your second question deserves a second question. Do you think I was born last moon?"

A crackling blade of energy, crescent in shape and gusting with stormy wind extended up between their faces. It was as though a piece of a storm had been taken and shaped into a weapon. It vanished in the next moment, and only Telara and her strange smile remained. "Do not presume so again."

”From the Shadow, we crawled out….”

*Kinetav's eyes softened a little, pleased that the wilder continued on this little game of his, even with the words that stung true against the lie that the Animae had offered her. His eyes never left hers, and even smiled a little at her naming them creatures of darkness. The Anima owed her from the very beginning, having intended to tell her the truth after hearing her response and seeing that nobody else was around them...the only part that caused him to frown was the instant summoning of her sword, an unneccessary physical threat against his life or honor as he waved it off and spoke non-chalantly:*

"You honor your Lord with your words, my race with your words, and my life with the title you gave me earlier today and your continued interest in me. I do ask you not to put words in my mouth, however, as I never said that I didn't do it, that you were born yesterday, or I wasn't here before my arrival with Lord Krayth. You are wise, and out of all the wilders, you deserve the honor you have shown me to be reciprocated the most, Telara. You're right, I was here, most likely the first on scene along with the stranger, Krona, behind me. We were the first to make the leap into the deafening darkness to find Krayth, and we were hit by Dominic in the chaos...where he fell to my blade, myself sustaining a rather gruesome wound on the cheek and recently healed with Liliana's bandages. Lord Krayth told me to keep my mouth shut about the true murderer of Dominic, and I now pass down that responsibility to you as well. I hope that clears up some of this confusion, Telara."

”….and to the Shadow, we will return.”

Telara nodded once, wordlessly as the Anima spoke. It was now that the Kokoro's eyes glanced back over to the hooded stranger that was with Liliana. Those pale irises flashed back to Kinetav as he mentioned Lord Valdiir's name. That it was he who was behind the lie's nature did not surprise her, but it's context was troubling. Her eyes briefly fell to the floor before returning to the Anima. "I may not trust his word, but I always keep it in trust. What you did to day, you should forget. I knew his death mask before you, and yet his blood is yours. He was weak, and you scar your honor with his death. Still, I spit on his corpse." Her strange smile withered into a grim crack. She spit to her side, towards Ul'Thran. "What they did in there... I don't know why he was here, but he should not have been. Its evil will never be forgotten by this cave. It will never be forgotten by us..."

Telara stopped, and the air passing down her throat hitched in her lungs. In the dim glow of the cavern fungi, her eyes glistened pale.

It was then that the weathered inner door of Tower Ul'Thran growled open. It came to a stop as it slammed into the tower wall, a sound that faded immediately in the wake of the cavern's sounds. Cheers, now. Adellos stormed from the tower, returned to his human form and his face wrapped in the cowl of his tribe. "SAN'AL! SAN'AL! SAN'AL!" The few wilders that remained chanted as Vesyr and Yorda parted for the Last Son. Adellos raised both hands to the sky and the chant persisted. When he dropped them to his waste, so did the chant fall silent. "Valdiir bids you sleep, Tribes. There is work to be done at dawn." He spoke loudly, but there was something in his voice. The wilders did not hear it; his words were enough. The cavern emptied, of all but Kinetav, Krona, Telara, Vesyr, Yorda and the Last Son himself. Krayth did not appear behind him.

The Were-Jackal was quick to find Kinetav. He had been near the tower, and the Soul Eater's scent was both unmistakable and in close proximity to Telara's own unique order. As Adellos approached, the Kokoro brought the back of one hand to her eyes before facing him. He nodded his head to her, but his words were for Kinetav.

"Valdiir would speak with you, Kinetav. The stranger too."

What was in his voice then was much more apparent. Disturbia. Trouble. His face hidden behind his hood of blue, the Were-Jackal lingered no more than that. He departed quickly, moving straight out of the cavern and into the tunnel. Liliana would feel all of Adellos' conflict. Doubt, pride, confusion, betrayal... and at its heart was Krayth. Krayth's words. Krayth's confidence in him. ...one was fated to lead the Desert to prosperity... he said it could not be him, that it could only be Her, or I... Ancestors, guide me in this time of need..

Telara watched him go. Then looked to Kinetav, and to Krona in the distance. "May you find peace in the Desert's night, Kinetav." She too did not linger. She pursued Adellos into Andalusia. Only Vesyr and Yorda remained on either side of the tower's door. They did not look to Kinetav, only one another. The Idol tuned her instrument quietly, humbly, as her lover watched with stone faced adoration.

Liliana watched Adellos go by her, perplexed by his thoughts as she heard them. Krayth had only thought about building up Adellos in the eyes of the tribes. What was this new development? She went back into the main cavern as another went by. It was Telara from the entrance. Her mind held that Kinetav and Krona had just been summoned inside by Krayth. This was getting worrisome now. Sitting down near Vesyr and Yorda, she sighed. "Dear Idol, please play something to take me away. I wish not to think of what will come with the sun."

Yorda's eyes turned to Liliana, and she smiled. Her voice was lighter and more beautiful even than the chords she strummed as she tuned her instrument. "Sit with me, beloved Seer. I will ease your worries." The Idol sat cross legged against in the middle of the cavern's dark, and ran her hands along the floor directly in front of her. "Be still, and breath slowly. Shut your sight, and listen. Let me carry you through your troubles..." She played, and she sang, and it was beautiful. It was a song of hope that ran through streams of cold water bursting with life, flew to the tops of mountains and looked out over the true grandeur of the world in which they lived. It descended low, into the golden sands of the desert, only to erupt upwards as a phoenix wrapped in newborn flame. In those moments, there could be only light, even in the blind world of a Seer. He song filled the whole of the cavern, and it sang within the darkness long after her lips fell still.

Vesyr remained by the door to Ul'Thran, leaned against its old and mossy stones. In the faint glimmer of the fungi's light and his own fire, steam could be seen wisping away from his eyes. In the presence of Yorda's music, the Vestitor wept in awe.

╔════════════════════════╗
"What injustice have you committed?"
╚════════════════════════╝

Krona listen to Kinetav's conversation with the wilder woman with apparent indifference. But her ears were sharp upon every word...and what she heard disturbed her. Deception was at play in the death of this vampire - that was clear - but was injustice also? Kinetav had said he had killed on order of his matron? But what were his matrons reasons? The vampire was dead, that was irrevocable, and that did not disturb her. But the reasons behind his death...that was something of her concern.

It did not matter that he was her only steady informant. It did not matter that the thought of killing him pained her. Justice was absolute; it was not affected by circumstance or emotion. If his matron proved unjust, and Kinetav, was a servant of injustice...she would have no choice but to purge him, without tainting herself, without condemning her soul.

The fingers of her right hand wrapped tight about the handle of Caertais. Her mind filled with images of its red tail, mixing with the crimson of Kinetav's blood as it sliced though his though staining the surface of dark skin with the life draining from beneath it. She shivered. Why did that image disturb her so?
She should have felt nothing, only a warm satisfaction at the thought of executing justice. Only a cold delight, a delicious shiver at the thought of a kill. But there was none of that; only an icy feeling, crawling slowly through her chest.

The black blood shoved the thought side, to melt the ice within. She tore her attention from Kinetav, and back toward the tower. As though her gaze were a key, the door opened, from it stepped Adellos. His face had lost the sharp harsh, edges of a beast, and was now the soft, round contours of a human, hidden beneath the inky black of a cowl.

Krona look on with indifference, as the wilder's around her started in a chant, that rose, crescendo's till Adello's hand lifted, and the chat stopped. Her interest and her ears piqued then, alert for a speech. but only simply words came, no ?

The wilders filed from the cave, leaving a stifling emptiness. Her eyes followed them with disdain, and turned back upon Adello's as he neared them.

Krayth requested an audience with Kinetav and...the stranger? Herself she assumed.

A disgusted scowl flashed across her lips. Being called, "the stranger" irked her, but it was better than them knowing her name. And there was an undertone to his, a dark, shadow behind the harmless words. The way in which in departed, too quickly, with a nervousness to each step. Her eyes narrowed. What was he hiding? What was it that Krayth wanted to speak with them about.

Her blood simmered. She was growing weary of these people of the desert. If she could have found an excuse, she would have gladly killed a few....Adellos in particular. Her gaze returned to Telera, in time to lock eyes with the woman.

Her annoyance completed upon this. If the woman wanted to say something, she needed to say it. The black blood opened her mouth to say so, but the wilder was already gone, drifting into Andulsia after Adellos.

Only two remained, and they paid no attention to her. With a irked murmur, she went to Kinetav's side. Adellos behavior earlier had been highly suspicious. Was the Krayth trustworthy? Under other circumstances, she would have no concern. If the man had proved to have darker intentions, it would have been a simple matter of killing them. But Krayth was clearly above her in power, and a fellow dark avenger. To kill him was to doom herself.

But it is the same for him is it not?

Even so...she would not be so foolish as to step into the council of a stranger.

She turned to Kinetav, her red green locking with his gray. She said nothing, but a cold warning was held in the violet slowly seeping into them. A smile crept across her face.

"You first."

”From the Shadow, we crawled out….”

*Kinetav followed Telara's gaze, the Voidsworn wary that Telara's gaze floated over to Krona and beginning to study the human's reactions more. Her eyes reflected confusion as they dropped to the floor, as was proper to this case, but the Anima relaxed a little as the slight hesitance of Telara seemed to fade partway through her words...after downing the Anima's honor once more. To the Anima, it seemed that no matter what he did for now, that his honor was simply sullied and thrown down into the mud...a fact that he was once again wrestling with whether it was good or bad.

She spot of evil, of darkness...of the fact that Krayth shouldn't have been in this sacred cave at all. This was a fact that made the Anima pleased and yet unhappy at the same time, knowing that his Matron had picked this place to physically manifest a Maelstrom. The darkness, to him at least, was pleasing...comforting...homelike, but the Anima could understand how the others were weary. But his mind continued to wander of what had gone down in this cave now that Telara spat at it and almost seemed wary, possibly even frightened, by the "evil" that would never be forgotten.

Kinetav's body turned back towards the tower's door as it creaked open, steel-grey eyes focusing on Adellos coming back out in a calmed form and overall cloaked face as what few men were left began to chant all over again. Edge continued to watch over Telara's form, the Exodus curious as to what Telara's stance or eyes might tell when Kinetav's body was partially turned away and not watching her eyes intently. Adellos' form was rigid, unyielding as always, almost impossible to interpret because of the formalities of the desert. But his tone...spoke unmeasurable volumes about the werebeast's now fragile state of mind as first he ordered the tribes to sleep before telling Kinetav that both his presence and Krona's presence was asked for in the Tower Ul'thran.

With Adellos' departure, Telara's gaze followed the wilder, the woman clearly trying to observe everything around her. Telara's blessing brought a grin to the Anima's face, knowing that night was indeed the best time to find peace for a creature of shadow such as he was. A blessing of his own echoed out back to Telara as she pursued Adellos:*

"Shadows comfort you, Telara."

*With the wilder's departures came Liliana's return, nearly going hand and hand as the seer came up to the door and sat down to the lyre player he had seen before in the Sky Basin. The song that ensued from the woman spoke of triumph, defeat, and rebirth...the cycle of life itself playing in the Anima's head, but the imagery in his head as to victory was just that of social acceptance. Even that goal seemed to be far off, if not impossible with the rigidity of the honor system in the desert, although the Lord himself was of the same blood and Voidsworn bondage. Perhaps it was just the way that Ba'Shev had in mind for her children, to keep them literally and mentally wrapped in shadow, comforting them in secrecy.

Kinetav's mind was turned from these thoughts with a mental image of Edge's sight, Krona walking back to his side again. The Black Blood's eyes held violet in them, quite possibly similar to his warning signs of red. It drew a thin, somewhat comforted smile from the Anima's face before cracking even more at the sight of Krona's smile and her words. The Anima couldn't place a finger on it, but her continued interest in him as an informant was beginning to become pleased with her presence. Nodding an approval, the Anima walked confidently past the guards of the tower, "holding" open the door for Krona and closing it behind her as she entered.

Edge's eyes turned to the singular presence in the room, the presence that seemed to overflow with shadow compared to Kinetav's aura which had just begun to teem with it, the Adept slowly but surely gaining favor in his Matron's eyes and power in the Void's comforting shadow. Within the silence of the tower, and shadow, the Anima's voice rang out to the elder:*

"What's going on, Krayth? What did you need to talk to us about?"

”….and to the Shadow, we will return.”

Cain the Blade

The trio of wilders walked through the darkness of the outer cavern, up to the entrance of the tunnel to the cave. It was there that the leader threw up his hand in a gesture of stopping the men behind him, spitting at the ground in front of him as a gesture of hatred towards the recent events and the evils of the Blood Barons before stepping to the side and signaling Cain to enter with a sweep of his hand,

"I will go no farther, Cain, nor my men. One march to the Tower Ul'thran is enough for any wilder on any given night, let alone two."

He sat in the heart of the tower, the council room at its ground floor. Amidst the faintest light that came through Ul'Thran's open doorway, his shape was nothing more than darker black. The table in front of him was large and round, fashioned from stone and decorated by the shadows of brick-a-brac. The silhouettes of other chairs could be seen as well. The only light that entered the room was from the opened threshold, delivering only the blue-gray ghosts of the cavern lichen's luminance into the tower.

"Shut the door behind you."

He would not speak again. Not until the door was shut; its heavy stone and steel frame entombed the three Dark Avengers within Ul'Thran. Only then, when the one who would shut the door had stepped away; when the darkness was complete, viscous and impenetrably thick to the naked eye, did he rise from his chair. With him rose the shadows. They physically lifted from the earth around him; his chair; the table; everywhere, and like smoke it rose to the chamber's ceiling. Neither Kinetav nor Krona knew the truth of Ul'Thran. Even now it would remain a mystery, but in this strange area of gray limbo -devoid of darkness yet absent of light- a part of its ghastly history was revealed.

The round chamber they stood in was the whole of the tower's ground floor. At the room's center was a huge circular table of sculpted black basalt, too large for all but the strongest of men to budge. In every facet of the table's legs and sides there were carvings; countless faces open mouthed and eternally contorted with pain. Their silent screams were a testament to the empire that had come before, built upon the foundations of massacre and suffering. Atop its surface were maps and documents scattered haphazardly along the head of the table. Lavish chairs lined the table's perimeter, upholstered in cashmere and velvet each died a rich wine red. Not all of these chairs are intact. A few of them are smashed to ruin, their remains gathered along the chamber's walls. Many more sported large cracks and gouges; visibly hacked into by weapons and claws. There was a certain smell permeating the tower, musty, damp and old. Copper, weathered away through the days since the Revolution but still lingering without wind or rain to wash it away. Blood. It was showered along the walls; painted across the shredded remains of tapestries depicting godless deeds; spattered over the floor; flecked upon the chairs and ceiling in hues of decayed brackish brown. At the far end of the room was a breathtaking staircase and banister carved from the tower rock itself, with naked stone etchings where gold was once inlaid. What lie at the top of the stair was unseen; concealed by the fog of shadows that now swirled above them.

Krayth was standing at the head of that black table, and for the first time since meeting him Krona and Kinetav would be able to see him completely. The were no shadows to shield him now; no blood or fury to hide the truths in his face. He was so young -no older than Krona from what she could tell- and so handsome... but everything about him was old, scarred, battered and broken. A chair could be seen beside Krayth's, turned towards his chair in the way that two lovers might confide around a table. It was empty, and in the cold and emotionless gray surrounding them there could not be a starker contrast between the room and the man within it. He was not empty or devoid of emotion. He was full; brimming with joy and sorrow and doubt and hope and anger and calm and shame and vindication that was topped only by exhaustion. He was leaned against the table, his hands pressed open palm against its cold black surface while his stormy eyes of violet and orange looked between the other Voidsworn. Beyruun lay on the table directly in front of him, rendered to the form of a sword that Kinetav would recognize. It was the long black blade that had removed Sephra's head, and it was still and soundless.

"There is a great deal that must be said... I am not sure where to begin." It was clear he did not. He searched for the words; attempted to craft the dialogue, "Kinetav... you- no. One night ago, my Lady... she, when there was..." He failed in his first attempt. The Desert's Lord looked down at the table, dumbfounded. How could he even begin? His course of life, every fiber of his being, had been radically altered had been altered thrice over in a matter of days. The Anima pushed away from the table. His eyes looked at the woman first. Her soul hid nothing from Krayth, nor did his to hers. "Welcome, sister. You have come during very grim times, and so has Kinetav. Before today, I had only ever met one of my kind... now, I have seen five. I offered the dead and dying to The Black Shev'Axjrum, and gave... I gave them all to her. I brought night never ending to Triwinds... I have sworn war against The b*****d Grix and any creator that would stand against me. Sincerely, I welcome you. If you stay, you shall find sanctuary. This city is a natural haven for our kind. I will not bar you from it. Any questions you have, I will answer... and I do not expect your loyalty or trust. I do not deserve it." Throughout, there was something fragile. A strange energy to his speech that had never been there before, though the stranger could not know the difference. "My name is Krayth Valdiir Tal'Deraz. Yesterday, I lost my wife. Today, I'm told I have a child... and so much... too much has happened."

It was then that Krayth looked to his kin. "Brother, you are new to this world... but you must never be unaware. We may be welcomed here, but they do not know the other nations as I do. I've been around this world, but after my mother's death I was alone. I have not seen another of our kind before, Kinetav... not ever. We, you and I, could be all that is left of the Anima. You truly are an Omen. This day has been filled with Omens. I feel the weight of them in my bones, but yours gives me hope. It lightens the burden." Krayth paused a moment to catch his breath; gauge each of their reactions. He could only hope that they saw what he saw, but it wouldn't be the first time he was thought a vindictive, bloodthirsty monster. He was.

"What say you, Kinetav? When the sun rises, where will you go? What say you, Krona?"

Cain bowed, his rifle resting across his shoulders.

"Thank you, you've done more than enough here."

Cain starts to walk away till he starts to feel a presence. The aura coming from by the tower in the middle....music playing....this presence was familiar. He walks over to the opening of the tunnel and stops. Cain could only shake his head, smiling as he walks forward.

"No doubt about it...that feeling...and your particular taste in music...Lili~"

A gentle and warm smile crosses Cain's face.

Tears whispered down Liliana's face from the song, something growing inside her as something else seemed to die. But she was too tired to know what either feeling was at this point. Her eyes grew heavy, closing to only snap open again when a new presence entered her mental radius. It was Cain, but something was wrong. He was... wrong. But she was just about out of energy and had little left to even get up. Instead, she let her eyes close again, wishing for sleep to take her away.

The pattering of footsteps, and the sudden warmth of two long limbs embrace Lili as she seems to be floating in the air. A single finger runs across the bottom of her eyes and then the familiar creases from a very familiar hand. A gentle touch across her cheek.

"You know I don't like to see you cry."

Familiar things was what she felt. She knew they were all a part of Cain. But where she should have felt happiness and love, she felt nothing at all. Keeping her eyes closed, she said, "I only cry from fatigue. It has been a very trying few days and sleep always eludes those working hardest."

Cain lightly knocks her on the top of her head as he takes off his tattered cloak and wraps her up in it. He picks her up in his arms,

"I swear, you are as stubborn as you were back in the other world. How many times do I gotta tell you to stop overdoing it?"

He laughs a bit.

"Shall we head home?"
