Cathy had been here all along, just simply keeping to herself, standing at the fringes of the many cliches and groups that had naturally formed over time.. Her own friends had long died; the only things that served as reminder that they once existed were the small, plain tombstones in the graveyard and the few photos that they had managed to take and develop, now a little faded and dusty, taped to the walls in her room.
There were familiar faces and she could even name a few of them - particularly the Mists - if she tried hard enough, but even as monsters started to appear from the portal, she kept to herself, trying to distant herself from everyone else as she tightened her grip on her daggers.
There was no way she would put herself through that sort of emotional torture ever again, nor would she want anyone to go through that sort of torture.
As another creature made its way out, she paused, weapons at the ready as she waited for an opening; there were attacks from everywhere, and she did not want to risk hurting an ally... Then suddenly and without warning, she struck out at the abomination swiftly, the same way she had done so many times before...
... Except this time, as she hopped back to put some distance between it and herself, she found herself almost tripping over the foot of another hunter behind her.
"Ah-" She quickly regained her balance, just in time to stop herself from falling on her back, before turning to look at the hunter she had inevitably disturbed - a fellow Mist... Wait... What was her name...?
"Sorry, Gabby," She muttered softly before looking away.

Clint had been heading for the healing station, but of course with his luck, there'd been another monster appearing right after the first. The big black man muttered something dark and hefted his ball and chain weapon, heading back into the fray.
After this, he swore, he'd get healed. His big metal ball hit the monster's knee again. He had always thought that taking out their legs was the smartest thing to do.

 Gabby bit back a snarl when another creature appeared, instead drawing her whip and calling out to some of the other Runics from earlier. "Seth! Dylan! Time to move it!" she barked, knowing she wouldn't need to remind Jamisson. When she turned to face the creature, a fellow Mist Hunter nearly tripped on her.
Tsk. Careless, the both of them. "Save the apologies for later, Cathy, right now we gotta keep these things from getting away." She drew her arm back and let the whip fly, feeling the FEAR energy crackle up along the weapon and into her arm. "But if you're real sorry, you can make it up by watching The Breakfast Club with me after all this is over."
No, Gabby wasn't delusional. She knew they weren't going to make it out alive given who and what they were going to be up against. But. Still. It would be nice to still have something to look forward to. Gray eyes unconsciously darted towards a certain scarred Death Hunter at that thought.

Amy, who had been on the fringes of the group, doing routine patrol type things, was now able to turn her attention to the portal. Or rather the things that came out of it. And her fellow hunters, of course.
Her expression was hard to read as she dashed in to stab the creature with her dagger. It was something she'd done a thousand times before, but wasn't sure if she ever really got used to. Though I suppose I have, she mused as she felt the dagger pierce her target.

As much as it would be nice to be able to survive the mission, Cathy couldn't help her knee-jerk reaction... Which was to look a little troubled and mildly awkward before almost immediately saying 'No thanks'; for her, the lesser 'fruitful interactions' with others, the better... After all, when you're a hunter, you learn that things could often turn ugly and be unpredictable... Who knows? Gabby could be the next one to fall and make her regret ever making that stupid 'watch a movie' sort-of-promise.
Or maybe it would be her who was next to die.
"I mean-" She sighed, sounding a little frustrated as she took another step back, away from the creature, "If I get that chance, then sure." Her eyes had been darting between it and Gabby since she had been speaking to the woman, but her attention was fully on the enemy again, watching its every movement, not daring to look away since might escape in that split second...
Damn. What did she just say? She was a fool.

A corner of the Mist Hunter's lips quirked up, "Heh, good! You'll like it. It's got Emilio Estevez in it. Or are you more of a Michael J. Fox kinda girl?" she laughed before taking another crack at the creature. It wasn't often Cathy ever socialized with her outside of missions. Not that Gabby could blame her fellow Mist.
During missions it was easier for her to shut off the feelings that made her hurt. Easier to focus on the present and on what they needed to do. This was small talk, idle chatter, white noise.
Pretty soon, her arm was going to go numb from the FEAR backlash.

Seth jumped a little when he heard Gabby bark at him to get his butt in gear with another creature had come thought the portal. "Alright here I come, Gabby," he answered. He wasn't going to make any excuses for not doing anything with the last creature, that was in the past and this was now. He wasn't going to space out any longer, unsheathing his machete that was at his waist and booking it to were the creature was. Charging at the creature at quick run and to take a good swipe at it with his weapon once he was close enough to it. But he did take some damage from it and he wasn't quick enough taking some damage. Seth hissed with a smile on is face at the pain but it only make him more focused on what needed to be done and that was do destroy all those dam creatures. HP: 35/40 Damage: 8 Boss HP: 79

Zoey made a little face at Lucas when he approached, rubbing her arms down as if a chill had managed to get through her Hunter coat. "Definitely don't think so anymore," she said quietly, self-consciously pushing away some hair that had covered some of the burned side of her face. "Already went through that phase . . ." At the least she didn't deny that she had acted at one point like one of those "younguns" who could drink and drive and get away with it. Only less alcohol, even less driving, and more "there's a shadowling chomping on my arm".
And then Zoey jumped as she felt a hand go on her shoulder, whipping her head around to see that it was just Cliff, not the aforementioned shadowling. "M'fine," she mumbled, patting his hand a little. "Just wanted a breather before the n-"
Ah look, another escapee - or would-be escapee. "Hold up." Face tightening, Zoey pulled out her hand torch and smacked the horrid looking thing with it.HP: 35/40 Damage: 12 Boss HP: 67

Zoey's words may as well have fell on deaf ears. She was obviously little more than a child, and that she was charging recklessly into battle with Cliff put him on edge. Another damn monster. He hadn't caught up with them, but that was the beauty of guns. You didn't have to go up and hack away at the creature, though in a pinch you could easily bash something with it. He had a rather ridiculous looking holster strapped at the waist and his lower thigh that he kept his gun in, and he palmed for it. It had barely cleared, pointing at the ground a couple of feet in front of him when it misfired. This...this ain't Bessy. "SONUVA" he yelled, staring at the shotgun in his hands. They had lied to him, the bastards had lied to him. He told them he wanted Bessy back as soon as they did whatever junk they did to their weapons, and they had sworn up and down he'd get her back. But now standing here he was obviously not holding his trusty shotgun from back home that would never have misfired. This was one of their damn replacements. Had he really been so distracted he hadn't noticed? Swearing enough to make a sailor blush and a preacher faint he strode up to Cliff and Zoey, close enough that he still got a nice pleasant blast of Fear damage. Yeah, this day was going to be just peachy. HP: 35/40 Damage: Pft fail Boss HP: 67

Taking in a deep breath as he focused on what needed to get done and he wasn't going to fail his job. He was going to protect to the best of his abilities and to remember those that had fallen for the fight they all fought. He didn't want to have any regrets when he did finally did fall.
Gripping his weapon tighter as he charged at the creature once more. This time he had gotten a better hit at it, but he still took a hit from it. Seth could feel the effects of the FEAR taking root, but didn't mind it much as he did enjoy it slightly still smiling the whole time. Seth had backed off from the creature to catch his breath as he looked it over to find a good place to hit it next.

"Neither," She replied quietly after a brief pause, that same troubled and mildly awkward expression on her face, now with a pinch of 'why are we even still talking to each other'. Darting in to slash at the creature almost immediately after Gabby moved to attack, trying to force it back, she soon returned to her original position, eyes on the creature.
"... So... Friends of yours?" She glanced briefly at the people Gabby had addressed just moments before; might as well get to know their names to make communication easier.

Her assault on the monster was an attempt at 'relentless'; the dagger Caelius dropped had helped shield her, but when the monster fought back, snarling, its claws raking across her stomach, she was distinctly aware of the fact that the effect had dissipated. Cursing, she half-heartedly slashed at it, wincing from the pain.

His decision not to head to the healing station in the lull had been a poor one, but Moore still lunged toward the next creature that emerged, throwing his personal safety to the wind. He kept an ear on the conversations floating around him, but didn't try to join any of them, the majority of the Mist Hunter's concentration focused on sinking his dagger into otherworldly flesh.

She might need to see about getting the wound looked over, but first, the monster needed to be finished off. Now it had drawn blood things were personal, and Andy stabbed at it viciously, its anguished scream bringing a sort of twisted grin to her face. It wasn't that she enjoyed doing this, particularly; as a death hunter her favourite task was surveillance, and she excelled at it.
Still, it had been so long since she'd felt the adrenaline rush of a proper battle. Caelius had been right, sort of, when he'd said that death hunters had it a little easier.

Now that he had joined them he actually took aim at the creature and fired. But now that he knew the gun wasn't Bessie it was a stranger to his hands. It bucked a bit to the left as he fired, glancing off the monster's shoulder. "Damn bastards took Bessy from me," he mumbled, and reloaded his shotgun to give him something to do.
