User ImageLee's hands shook as she plunged another dagger in, not feeling even an ounce of relief as it lit up after the number that had failed before the ten relay was established.

All she could hear was the static in her ear, the screams of joy and terror around her. The pounding of her heart. Don't Fear Don't Fear Don't Fear.

It'll just get their attention and then she'd be the next to go. And she couldn't, not until she finished this job.

Becca was late. She was running very late. Her pendant decided to haywire and send her clear across New york and in a Terrain the woman didn't know, that was dangerous. She hustled, worked her way through crowds of people to get back to the two men she wanted to be with for this mission.

Her headset zipped out the closer she got to her fellow hunters before she realized what they we're battling.

"Lord have mercy on us all." As she stared up into the Horsemen of Famine. God she was a sight to see, blood dripped down her muzzle as she snickered at their plight.

And then she saw them, her two boys. They we're stabbing something into the ground, Barrier daggers? They must've needed to block off times square. She rushed over to them, her voice clear and loud as she screamed.

"Cody! Lex!" She scrambled over to them. She didn't pay attention to the other hunters that we're devoured, her goal was them. Her goal was him before something happened. If they died and she never got to tell him. That was it.

"Cody." She sobbed out in relief as she got closer to them, "Lex." Both of them we're okay, both of them we're alright. Vee cocked to her side as she practically barreled into them. Her arms we're outstretched. She didn't have long, she didn't have long. "God the two of you never know when to give it up do you?"

She pulled away from holding them before looking both of them in the eyes. One she always looked to as her brother, someone who just needed to be looked after, the other weedled her way into her heart with his jokes, his comments. Her face gushed with one thing as she looked at him. Love. So simple and so pathetically human of her. It over flowed in heart. She knew today she would die, today they would die. But today she would tell hiim what she had held on to for the bigger half of her hunter life.

"Cody. Cody!" Her voice came out in a choking sob. "I know this is terrible of me, I know this isn't the right time but..." She spoke quicker now. "I love you Cody, with all my heart, with all that was me. I couldn't stop thinking of you when we parted and I know...." She didn't even have time to finish her confession when both of her friends we're cruely and mercilessly slaughtered in front of her.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" She screamed out as they we're dragged away from her, Her hand's outstretched for them as both Cody and Lex we're dragged away, Body's mangled in Famines mouth as she devoured them. She screamed so much her voice died out. Tears flowed down her eye's as she crawled to her friends bodies after Famine spit the rest of them out. Lex's laid there limp, Her heart thudded in her chest as she looked at him. Cody.....

User ImageOh god Cody....

She bent down to his body, tears splashed on her eyes as she clutched his jacket and scarf, She didn't care about the blood, the skin and inside remains that spilled out on the ground near her. She didn't even have time.

There was no time.

They were getting picked off, like flies. Naibi flinched when two more bodies were left for dead. She grabbed another dagger and attempted to set the barrier again. They could not fail.

She was shaking slightly, Ding dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch of death. I shouldn't fear her.... we can do this. The barrier just needs a little more time.

However her shaking ended up with her not getting the Dagger set right. "Damnit." Naibi's nerves were starting to slip.

"Lessee...." Lex held up his fingers, using both hands. "I successfully got my dagger in place...one, two...five...several times." His gaze flickered up to Cody. "You successfully got...one, two...see where this is leading, my dear Librarian?" He paused. "Obviously, I truly was failing so you'd feel better." Not really and they both knew it. At least they weren't cowering in fear, right?

"Whatever, bro. You just don't want to admit that I might be a nice guy-"

Then they were being mauled (not literally yet) by a familiar woman. One that Lex felt a huge part of the tightness in his chest release upon seeing her. Even he didn't have it in him right then to make some snarky remark about her hugging them. Lex hugged her awkwardly back - he still held the dagger in one hand and Mordy partially under his arm! - giving the second person he cared deeply for a smile.

"Glad to see you finally made it, sweetling..." He blinked at Becca. Then turned his gaze on Cody. The one man he probably considered the closest thing to a brother since he lost Rin. And a stupidly huge grin spread. "Well you lucky dog, you-"

::LEXINGTON!::

The amount of fear and resigned sorrow in the shriek that resounded through his mind silenced Lex more than that voice. Oh s**t! Unhelpfully came to mind first. The Hunter felt everything in him freeze and tense at the sight that was before them. He didn't bother to ask 'how' she had managed it. That didn't matter anymore. His heart pounded and for the first time, his defenses cracked and Lex felt fear. Something almost foreign to him.

No. Becca. Cody...

NO!

"Brother!" He tried. It was pointless. And too late. Just like then...too late to help his twin. Too late to save Cody too. But he still tried. With all that he had left in him.

A howl. Long and low filled his mind. It was the last thing he heard. The only thing he could focus on...

Then...

....nothing but the sound of a glaive clattering to the ground. Flickering... And dying.

The wheels were already in motion, she did not want to stop eating. Why would someone leave a bowl of delicacies right in front of them for later?

Famine's stomach churned and gurgled, there were only a few insects left, a few of them.

She wanted them all for herself.

OOC: Famine's onslaught

41- 60 You look up, catching Famine shadow as she lunges towards you, to manage to parry her attack once, twice perhaps even, but soon she easily overwhelms you, impaling you with her claws before moving in for the kill.
61 - 80: You hear wingbeats as you are lifted into the air. It is pure agony as Famine rips your limbs apart piece by piece, you finally lose consciousness.
81 - 100 You are scared, terrified even, or perhaps just lost, and Famine preys on it, whispering to you first in the dark. Eventually, you succumb to her suggestions, death just seems so much easier... as she devours you in one single bite.

She knew her death was coming, and yet still when she pulled away from Julien, looking up into those pale blue eyes that she loved so much, she could only laugh. She laughed long, and she laughed loud, and then she backed up a little...and jumped into his arms. Her legs wrapped around his waist as her lips crushed against his for what would turn out to be the very last time.

When she finally pulled herself away, she was breathless, but still she latched on, trusting him not to fall or to drop her. For all his lankiness, he still had a lot of hidden muscle to him.

"We can do whatever you want, darling." She whispered against his lips, and then she smiled, nuzzling her face against his neck, just trying to enjoy every last bit of him that she could. One of her hands traced it's way down his chest, and to his belt, moving down just a little further, her hand closed on something hard.

She brought her hand back up with a dagger in her hand. "I'm all out, and this is the last one you have?" she made it a question, her eye brow going up. "Sweet Julien..I don't think we're going to make it out of here alive." Her eyes got a little sad, but she swallowed back the pain that the thought of not being with him anymore brought. "But I would do anything for you, I would be whoever you wanted me to be, so of course if we make it, we can be more adventurous." and then she gave him a small, mischievous smile. "Should I call Lucas back and ask him if he wants to joi---"

She didn't get to finish the sentence. She suddenly saw a shadowy figure in the pale reflection of Juliens widening eyes, and she hurriedly let go of him, swinging herself down and whirling with the dagger just as the claws descended upon her. She barely managed to block them from striking her down. "Julien!!" She cried, "GET BACK!"

Was she screaming that last part at him, or at the horseman in front of her? Of course, Julien didn't listen, and they ended up fighting the creature at the same time, Julien with his sword and her with the dagger she had taken from his belt.

They didn't do too badly, all and all, but the horseman was just too swift for her to block and strike in one go. Suddenly she got the impression that the horseman was smirking at her, toying with her...and then the creature turned it's full attention to Julien, perhaps deciding that Mya was not a threat and wanting to take out him first instead, him with his FEAR charged sword in hand.

Things seemed to slow down at that point, and Mya was screaming as she saw Julien block one set of claws even as the other came stabbing towards him. She didn't think, she just moved, rushing forward to knock Julien back and getting herself impaled on the claws instead. She had time to whisper his name one last time, even as the blood came bubbling out of her mouth, then the horseman jerked it's claws up, piercing into her heart, and she let out one last gurggling sigh, and her body went limp.

Her head rolled to the side, her dark eyes looking blindly at absolutely nothing as blood continued to run from her mouth and drip onto the wet pavement below. Slowly her body slid off of the claws only to crumple to the ground in a heap.

And Mya Jones was no more.

"No, I don't." he argued back. Were they really going to argue about this? Yes. Yes they were. "Sorry, I know the difference between nice and when someone is trying to cover their own a**." He pointed out. If anything he was amused at his friends attempts.

He was about to tease him further when a voice so familiar that it brought a whole new fear to the hunter.

"Jeez, Becca, you sure took you're time. Did you go sightseeing or something?" He had a smile on his face as he waved at the female mist hunter, but it was forced. He wasn't happy to see her here. To be truthful, he had been hoping that somehow she had managed to make it out of here and get as far away as she could... but as per usual his wishes never really got far beyond being wishes.

Damn...

His smile faded slightly when she spoke of her true feelings for him. The confession nearly knocking the mist hunter off of his feet as he gaped at her.

She liked--loved HIM?

"Wha--" He started to reply, but was cut off by a woman's voice from behind them; causing Cody to freeze in fear. He couldn't even return Becca's feelings for him, much less lift an arm in his defense before the horsewoman moved in for the kill.

:CODY!: Dimitri yelled into his mind. Which, was not all that unfamiliar to the hunter by now. He had been yelled at by him at least five times a day since the two of them had started working together. However, for maybe the first time since then, Cody heard actual fear in the werewolf's voice.

The first and last time.

The sword, slipped from the now limp hand before it disappeared completely into the black abyss. Dimitri hit the ground with a loud clatter, his blue runes flaring to life, once more. One final time, before they burned themselves out completely.

Yeah, they were going to die. He'd never get to be adventurous with Mya (and others... like Lucas), but at least he had had Mya. She completed his life, and that was all he really needed right now. Not that he wasn't oddly, insanely curious about things. Mya was laughing, and he chuckled low along with her. Suddenly she was leaping, and latching onto him, something that only ever happened in private and typically with less clothing. Her hands trailed, and the pale man let out a loan groan as she grabbed his last dagger instead of something else. The kiss was perfect, and everything he needed.

And yet things were just not meant to last. He was only 27, and she was only 26, but it was their time. Fate would cut their strings via Horseman, and there was nothing he could do about it. With the horrible creature standing in front of them, Julien did the only thing to come to mind. He attacked with everything he had, pale arms swinging as strong and fast as he could. Julien couldn't let Mya die. Not his beautiful, perfect, sweet, wonderful, strong, sexy, amazing Mya Jones. He had always said that he would die before her, and even if he had no chance in hell defeating this monster he was going to do everything he could to save as many of her breaths as he could. His life was nothing without her. Nothing.

He saw it coming, he knew it was happening. Even as he parried and blocked one set of claws with Robert yelling in his mind, those pale blue eyes saw the second set coming in for the kill. He couldn't deflect them in time, and it was like everything was going slow-mo.

Thank you Robert.

And it became a horrible movie. Mya leaped in front of that second set of claws, and Julien's eyes slammed wide as she died on that sharp implemented weapon of hell. The pale man didn't know what came over him. There were no words, no emotions, nothing. He wasn't scared, he was dead inside. Everything cut out of him in one motion as the blood began to pour from her mouth. His love was gone, and so was his mind.

Julien Reginald Bond attacked like only a mad man could. He was screaming his fury and hate at this horseman wordlessly. Robert stayed with him until the very end, giving everything he had with every blow. The blonde man didn't outlast his love even half a minute, as he soon felt the sharp set of claws slice into his stomach, past the muscles and the organs through his spine and out the other side. He held Robert as tight as he could and tried to smack at the arm, but his own hand wasn't swinging. In fact, he wasn't holding Robert at all. He couldn't feel anything, something had snapped in his spine.

Mya....

Julien Bond died with thoughts of his love.

So. It had all been for nothing. The last few minutes of his life he could have been kissing and holding hands and with people, but he had tried to buy them some time. For nothing. They had died moments before him, and as he was lifted into the air he could see where the remnants of their bodies lay in the massacre below. And then she popped off his arm.

He didn’t actually think that there would be a ripping noise when the flesh gave in to the stress, following the audible pop of the bone leaving the socket. But there was. At that point he didn’t even try to hold back. He screamed, the high pitched noise of a creature that knew nothing other than pain. He screamed as his right leg was torn off at the knee. By the time she got to his right arm he was unable to make more than a high-pitched hiss. By the time she got to his left leg his mind had faded to black, lost in the bliss of unconsciousness.

She didn't even have them left anymore. She didn't even have her boys in death. Famine took it all as she smirked, as she stood up there like she had won. b***h.

Vee rumbled at her side, his normal relaxed self hissed with a harpies call inside her head. When Famine took Cody and Lex, She took the only thing that Becca had held on to for her humanity.

She attacked. Mindless, numbness...blindness. I'll Kill you, I'll kill you. Her head screamed, her voice no longer strong from her sobs from the boys before.

She attacked Famine straight on, parrying the woman's claws with Vee before turning the barrel to straight at the woman.

She missed as Famine swirled, striking again with her claws as Becca used Vee again to block the blow. She knew she would die. She knew this was it. But she wouldn't go alone. She'd take the ******** beast with her if she had too.

"Cody...Lex." She hoarsely said as she backed away from Famine before cocking Vee. She had such a clear shot, such a perfect shot. But she wasn't fast enough.

Vee shrilled in her head as she looked down. Blood poured from her body. Her body? When did that happen. Famine smirked in front of her, as if to say, Pathetic human, you were no match for her. Dropping Vee to the ground, she looked amazed at the blood before she smiled. She wouldn't be alone.

User ImageCody and Lex we're waiting for her.

Her eyes closed as Famine ripped into her, blackness was the last thing she saw.

Naibi couldn't set up the dagger, she was having trouble doing anything right. Too many fallen hunters. She'd seen death before, but not in this scale. If they failed....

Her eyes were turned towards the horsewoman as she approached. Naibi wasn't sure why, but she felt small... and perhaps a little frightened. She'd felt fear before, but not like this. They were all falling, it was worse than she'd thought.

Naibi was torn between fighting and giving up as she watched Famine. The Huntress scooted back the dagger in her hand but her hand was shaking. "Why..." She ended up running into a body and squeaking as she drew back quickly from it, looking in horror. So many of them... only half eaten... Naibi thought for a moment she was going to be sick until she realized famine was knocking on the door, so to speak.

"G-get back."

There was a voice, like something only she could hear, taunting her... it would be much simpler and easier if you were to allow me to eat you.

Naibi shook her head still moving away from famine as the voice continued, it'd be less painless, you don't want pain do you?

Naibi was slowing as she was getting to a point where she couldn't scramble backwards anymore. "I just want to go home..." She said softly seeming to ponder how well her weapons would work while they weren't charged.

I can give you home.

Naibi stopped, there was something about that voice it sounded... almost calming that time. As if it was a beacon trying to help her sail a mighty storm. "Home... you... could?"

It'll be painless. I'll give you your last wish.

Naibi finally nodded, somehow she'd been convinced. Something about the warm thought of home, fresh baked pies her mother use to make came floating back to her mind. She wouldn't be lost anymore right? Inevitable death seemed to be taking forever for Naibi's point of view as she was trying to figure how to get away.

Naibi frowned and just as she was about to start crying and fighting her way away from the horsewoman, she was devoured whole. The whole ordeal only really lasting a few moments.

They were all dying.

All of them. Every last one as the creature leapt from one hunter to the next, black clawed hands ripping into flesh, her mouth dripping the blood of her victims. One by one they fell, whether slowly and carefully torn apart or devoured within a single swallow, the monster before him snapping her teeth viciously and cruelly as she move in on her prey.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

And the numbers kept rising. They weren't just dying.

They were being slaughtered.

Everyone except him. He, Warden Victors, the calm, collected, rational person, the twenty-nine year old man who had been a hunter for nearly ten years and who wielded dual sai blades, kept a level head when all around him was chaos and confusion.

He, Warren Victors, who had fallen in love so unexpectedly, with Billie McNamara, who had found something in the hellhole of life to be happy about.

Except that happiness was no longer there. The light had been extinguished.

Decimated.

He stood there, paralyzed, unable to even take a step back. His legs felt as though they refused to move, his feet grounded in place, though his heart was beating so loudly in his chest he was certain that everyone around him could hear it, feel the vibrations.

More blood spattered. The hem of his white coat with its black and forest green trim was stained red, the scarlet liquid making its way higher, his sleeves ripped and torn, drenched in rain and blood.

And still he stood there, frozen in place, while everyone else was taken.

I want to help them.

But there's nothing you can do, came a smaller, nastier voice inside of his head, one that did not belong to Tee. Nothing at all. After all, you couldn't even save the woman you loved.

You are useless.

He swayed where he stood, his head spinning.

...Tee?

Her voice was so gentle, so very soft.

-- I'm here, Warden. --

Don't leave me.

When she spoke this time, her voice was strong, fiercer than Warden had ever heard her before.

-- Never. --

As more of his comrades began to fall, some part of Moore was sure he felt each death as if it was his own. He finally ceased his futile attempts to chain barrier daggers and looked up into the shadowy mist for any sign of their attacker. He noticed the claw too late, and as it withered his arm, then chest, then body, fear burbled through his veins and he struggled.

What a perfect time to feel again. Not.

It was all over in less than a minute. He didn't scream.
