I'ma say no to that because Academy is meant to be a legitimate rank. Since rank no longer determines power, there is no need to blitz though them, and we can take the time to do legit training as Academy students. Have you begin to flesh out the basics of your RPC, make sure that everyone understands the system of the guild in practice. Then have a legitimate test to graduate to Genin, something interesting, not ******** stupid like learn X jutsu.

You don't start with your class, you build into it. So classes have entry requirements. Such as the medical class requiring like 10 in Wisdom(not legit #)
They should grant bonuses, such as the Ninjutsu class giving 1 extra point of chakra for each point you have in your Intelligence stat, efectivly rewriting the equation to stat*4
The Weapon class doubling your equipment load or something like that.
Make them perk like bonuses, but slightly better, and not something we would want everyone being able to do.
We need a good number of base classes, prob about 4 or 5 to start, then we can decide how we want prestige classes later.
Best to just start thinking of s**t and then organizing it later.

What if prestige classes where more like archetypes of Pathfinder. You still prestige into them, but to make them less like you have to prestige they narrow your abilities for example: You have the medic ninja who can do all the s**t a medic does, well a prestige class for them could be like a Vivisectionist, and they don't lose there previous medic ability's, but they lose some ability to learn healing based jutsu and now have a better knack for using the medic jutsu like chakra scalpel.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? To balance this a bit more the Vivisectionist can't learn healing jutsu of chuunin or higher (maybe) and any Chuuin+ healing the have becomes unusable.

well we can take this one of 2 ways. Base classes, and you build your RPC by choosing a base class and a prestige class, such as a ninjutsu samurai, or a Taijutsu Assassin.
That way your character is difined by the two classes you pick, base and prestige. now this method lets us design prestige classes for the sake of them, and not really wory much about what class is "ment" to build into this, and more "What can do with each base class"
That way we have less prestige classes, but more options.
OR
We build training paths for each class. Basically archtypes what would happen is you chose a class. Then you later chose a sub-class or path, like a ninjutsu ninja who chooses 1 element path, or the multi element path, or a nin-tai path.
with this option we must consider what we want the class to be able to do, or what a player may want to do. We must also make several paths for each class.
This method has the benefit of less customization, but more meaning in your class.

It think more customization means more meaning to your class, because you take the time to pick the combination you want.

i meant you class means more in what you can do. Like it will be "ninjutsu can do this, and nobody else" were its "though you cant do this, you can combo with these classes and such to get the same affect."
like if we have paths, you class matter more as to the skills you do, were if you pick Taijutsu, you ARE Taijutsu.
as opposed to the class just being a big buff to certain skills, like if we made prestige, you can pick one towards ninjutsu, and one Tai build, thus giving you a fun little nin-tai class.
both have there pro's and cons.
