That high score was still out of reach. "Jack that was pathetic." he berated himself on the pad and thumped at his head lightly with the screen.
"never playing Afronova again."
Except the face screen pressed the replay option. "Aw jackdammit!"

After flopping over the side of the machine and the hound waited eagerly for the score. he watched that B slowly roll onto the screen and gave a hoot. "Not bad, practice does make perfect!"
and then he found the track known as Max 300. and he watched helplessly as the arrows began to scroll like it was jove running away from potential huggers. "Wha.. dammit, legs react faster."
but they couldn't as the screen blacked out with the words "FAILURE" showing loud and proud for the next combatant. "I will not accept that defeat Max, you have made a sworn enemy today!." he claimed loudly, before falling over in a puddle of dog goo, as it slowly churned its way out of the scarecade.

She hadn't been here in a while, was it still open? Either way she thought to maybe get one or two rounds in, if possible. If not then she'd feel bad about it but! At least she was getting exercise!

When did the DDD addiction start again? Demi had no clue, but that craving for another game kicked in as he walked up to it, shaking like a leaf. "Come on darlin', just one more game."

AAAAAAAUUNNGHH...
YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT.
Pepin whined when the game repeatedly shouted this out to her as she tried to press one of the start buttons. It seemed like the machine literally needed a break. "Well that is just... DISAPPOINT." The glitch ghoul threw her hands on her hips and glared at the device before running over to the plug in switch as someone tried to step on and unplugged it for a few seconds.
"STEP OFF BUDDY," Pepin roared at the poor first year and watched the ghoul stumble back and keep close to the crowd of players.
"Just one minute folks uh... UUUUh..." Fiddling with the back of the machine a little bit merely for appearance (Pepin had no idea honestly how to work the thing other than to hack it) she waited a bit before plugging it back in and letting the thing load up once more.
Soon the high score screen came on and in the top three slots there were:

...the machine had erased all of their scores. Nervously Pepin looked around and smiled. "Oh that's normal. Yep totally perfectly normal and all~" Lying through her digital teeth the ghost ghoul cleared her throat then backed up literally into the scarecade machine and started messing with it. All of the lights on the step pads, the strobe lights, and the screen itself just went completely nuts as she tinkered around with the insides. The announcer was constantly saying bits and pieces from what he'd shout during a player's turn and eventually as if to reflect the piss poor job of what she was doing in there the artificial audience BOO'ED loudly repetitively until finally her face showed up on the screen.
"I'm SORRY I'M SORRY I'M SORRRYYYY!" she cried out and slammed the screen with her fists until suddenly it blanked for a moment and soon a couple of names and scores started to slide up the side of her cheek, flickering in and out. The scores read as:

36 DMI
36 ISR
"Hey there they are!" Pepin chimed excitedly. "I DID IT I DID IT I-" Suddenly her eyes lurked towards Israfel and Demi. "SUDDEN. DEATH." she whispered quietly then leaped out of the machine and perched herself on top of the glowing sign. "ISR AND DMI GET OVER HERE IT'S TIME FOR A REEEEEEEEMAAAAAAAAAAAAAATCH!"

It was starting to be a common occurrence to see green ears and a swishing tail in the scarecade, or at least in one section of the scarecade bouncing away to the beat. He already went through every song the machine had to offer but his score never really hit the top.
Time and time again, there would be one or two scores higher than his own and it at times had him shaking in irritation, or shaking the back bar in frustration. and that's exactly what he did when pepin erased all their scores. "MY SCORE WTJ Pepin?" he backed out at the glitch ghost that violated the sanctity of the scarecade console.
Fine fine, if she wanted a battle to happen, he'd give her a battle. "Then put on Jackronova on heavy, REVERSED for us."

Xander shifted his attention to the machine as it began to spaz out, watching with interest as the ghost ghoul began messing around with it, unplugging it then plugging it back in. He had to laugh when the high scores came back up blank. He quickly stopped laughing, but continued to stand with a bemused smile on his face as the ghoul then went inside the machine and began messing around.
He hadn't really been paying attention to the scores of the contestants, but he knew his was pretty high and might stand a good chance of placing if not getting him first , so it wasn't a huge surprise when his name appeared at the top. His smile widened, though he did look somewhat embarrassed. He still wasn't entirely sure how he even managed to get such a good score.
