[ Felin : Kokiri Forest : Deku Tree's Meadow : Old Tree : Deku Town : Fen's Forest Findings ]

Felin was slightly amazed. She knew the Business Deku such as Fen were quite easy to strike a bargain with, but she herself could never think of anything to convince them. She carefully took the blade, her eyes darting beween the scabbard and Fen, before she had it in both hands.

Music: Felin gets the Swift Blade! It's speed and precision are unrivaled! Plus it has a cute purple motif. Just your style!

After strapping the sword to her back, Felin was overjoyed. "Oh thank you so much Fen!" she said, rushing in to hug him. "You won't regret this!" Before she left though, and seeing Izzy standing there the whole time, she began to wonder; will his slingshot be enough? Slowly, she walked up to him. "Are you sure you'll be fine with just your slingshot?" she asked quietly, so Fen wouldn't hear.
Akin bowed to Fen. "Nice doing business with you." he said before flying over to Felin. "You can thank me later." he told her, sitting on her left shoulder.

[ Izzy : Deku Town : Fen's Forest Findings ]

"What, Yellow Jacket here?" he asked with a grin, placing a hand on the yellow and black slingshot secured at his waist. "Trust me, she's more than just a slingshot. I'll be just fine. Now... Let's go meet this Chieftain."

Izzy left the shelf he had been examining and started walking out the door, only stopping a moment to call back, "Thanks, Fen!"

[ Felin : Kokiri Forest : Deku Tree's Meadow : Old Tree : Deku Town ]

Looking out over the edge, Felin continued to worry about the lack of fences they had up here. She simply made a small grimace and shook her head lightly.
Felin looked up at Izzy. "So where do you suppose this Chieftan lives?"
"I would imagine the largest area up here." Akin chimed in. "Though why don't we go ask Woodbine and them for directions?"
"Sounds like a plan." Felin said. As she walked back down the platforms to the band, she decided to examine the blade of her new sword. Pulling it out, she laid the blade in her left hand. It was a magnificent sword, even for being just a small sword. Felin smiled. She decided to practice her swing, but refrained from going out of control. She made a few noises with each motion, and found the blade to be suitable for the journey ahead. Sheathing the blade, Felin continued until she heard the band. They were just a few yards away now.
When she reached them, they were jamming away, so she stuck two fingers in her mouth and gave a short, shrill whistle. "Anybody here that can give us directions to the Chieftan?"
Akin let out a scoff. Typical Felin, short and sweet, in both stature and looks, and conversation.

[ Deku Band : Deku Town ]

"Well, that was quick," Woodbine said, after signaling for the other guys to stop playing. "And that's a groovy sword you got there. You're looking for the Chieftain?"

"He's not gonna want to see you," the drummer said. "He's really stressed out right now, and I don't think you cats will make it any better. No offense."

"Nonsense!" Woodbine said. "I'll bet you came up here to help the Chieftain, right? I can't think of any other reason you'd come all the way up here, lookin' for a weapon." He didn't even give her time to think before starting again, this time attaching his sax to a short strap and putting it around his neck. "Don't sweat it, faery buds. I'll take you to the Chieftain's pad." He then turned to the rest of the band. "You guys keep practicin' while I'm gone. I won't be long."

The other bandmates nodded, and started up their previous song again. Woodbine waved at the two Kokiri to follow him, and up the wooden road he went.

[ Felin : Kokiri Forest : Deku Tree's Meadow : Old Tree : Deku Town ]

Felin thanked Woodbine and glanced over at Izzy with a slight smile, as if to say 'Toldja I could do it'. "I wonder how far it is..." Though she had no problems with distance, her answer lied in the strength of her own legs. Sure, she could walk far, but if it was realy long, her legs would get sore. She knew though that if she kept walking, her legs would get stronger over time. And since she had a feeling this mission they would be sent on involved a lot of travel, now seemed a good start as any to wonder about it and simply keep going.
She tried to make small talk with Woodbine, just to pass the time. "So what's the Chieftan like? Is he friendly?"

[ Izzy : Deku Town ]

Izzy could only chuckle at Felin's bravery. One minute she was complaining about the lack of railing, then the next, she was swinging her sword around as she walked down the plank road like she hadn't a care in the world. And now they were headed up again, heading for who knew where. Well, Woodbine knew, at least. They could just have a relaxing walk and let him lead, without worrying about where they were going.

"Yeah," he seconded Felin's question, Fen said he was really stressed out recently. It's not going to bother him to speak with us, is it?"

"Well, Iz, Fen also said you guys were going to relieve that stress, didn't he?" Haelo said with a giggle as she played with her hair on her seat atop Izzy's head.

[ Woodbine : Deku Town ]

"The Chieftain?" Woodbine echoed with a smile. "Aw sure, kiddies. He may act all tough and all that jazz in front of ya, but that's kinda his job, dig? He's tall and built, as far as us Scrubs go, so he may look a bit mean too. But don't sweat it one second. He's soft as a Yoshi doll, and twice as cuddly."

He paused for a moment to spit out the empty shell of a Deku Nut, then made a strange smacking sound with his snout as it fell down past the branches. "But hey, don't tell him I said that. Last thing I need is the Chieftain mad at me, dig?"

[ Felin : Deku Town]

Felin looked as Woodbine spit something out (he was eating something?) which fell below the canopies. What was that? she thought. Her ears perked up at Woodbine's last sentence. "Uh, right, dig." Boy, did she just sound stupid right then. Why was she starting to talk like them? as she trying to help understand the way they spoke, or was it influence? Felin shook her head, clearing her mind of such weird thoughts and focused on the task at hand.
"Tall and built? So taller than you?" being from a short race, such a question could be easily excused, as nearly everything else was taller than a Kokiri. She looked around, the town getting busier as they continued. Many Deku were heard talking to each other, and one of them passed their group, though where they were headed, Felin didn't know. Slowly, the feel of the area changed from a tall tree to a bustling forest village, and Felin was surprised to see so much all in one condensed place.

[ Woodbine and Deku Chieftain : Deku Town : Chieftain's Home ]

"Well, you can see for yourself," Woodbine said as they reached one of the higher branches. "Because here we are." The "lawn" around the hole in the ground that led into the Chieftain's abode was decorated with colorful gardens, in which grew many strange, exotic-looking plants. "Follow me," he said as he led the way through the hole.

When he entered, an older Deku was busy looking over a scroll; Woodbine could tell it was old, because it had an aged, yellowed look to it that only time could adequately provide. "Evening, Chieftain, and beggin' apologies for the interruption, but-"

"Oh, nonsense!" the Chieftain said, setting the scroll to the side. He took off his reading glasses and rubbed his head with a long, tired sigh. "I've gotten practically nowhere with this thing, anyway. What's the business today?"

"Well, sir, I've brought two Kokiri cats with me," Woodbine said, glancing up at the hole in the ceiling, waiting for his two Kokiri friends to enter. "They were sent by the Tree."

The Chieftain's eyes widened at this. "The Great Tree, you say? Interesting..."

[ Felin : Deku Town : Chieftan's Home ]

Felin wondered just how far down the hole really was. Suddenly, a weird feeling came over her, and she staggered slightly, trying to get a grip on the situation. Shaking her head and letting out a small grunt, she went back to looking down the hole. Taking in a deep breath, she looked back to Izzy. "Here goes nothing." She then jumped in.
Partially screaming as she descended at a rapid rate, she did her best to brace for impact. The shock of the land made pain surge through her legs, but since she landed at such a weird angle, she began to topple over, flailing her arms as she fell on her back, letting out a groan of slight pain. "I meant to do that." she said, trying to lighten the mood, like she always did.
Rolling over to get up, she heaved herself back onto her feet and turned to face Woodbine and the Chieftan. She gave a small wave before looking up the hole. "Come on Iz, your turn!"
She then turned her attention back to the head honcho. "So, um, hi. I don't know i Woodbine said this already, but we were summoned on a mission by the Deku Tree, and were then directed up here, in a Deku shell." Her face then twisted into that of agony, and she immediately put her hands on her back. With a large stretch, she heard a "pop!" and the pain dulled down. Never doing that again.

[ Phyela : Hyrule Field ]

Some soft music could be heard atop a bluff on the vast plains of the field. Though it wasn't exactly in tune, it seemed enjoyable to some. The creator of this music was Phyela, a young witch, as was evident by her attire and staff, which was resting against a tree, as was she. She lowered the pan flute she had been playing, only to have a frown on her face. Sighing, she put the instrument back up to her lips and tried again, only producing the same kind of music as before. Though she liked music, it seemed she wasn't cut out for it. But that didn't stop her from trying again and again. She continued, the music sounding the same as it always had whenever she played. Well, looks like I'm out of whack today, she thought, getting to her feet and putting the flute away. She then turned and reached down for her staff-Blue Revere, as she called it. Might as well try some other day. Her gaze then shifted towards Lon Lon Ranch, and squnting to get a closer look as to who was in the pasture, still couldn't make out who it was. Shrugging, she decided to head back to Keuredet, her gaze all the while on the person in the pasture.
She was so focused on the person, she didn't even see the river running just outside the town. With a brief yelp, she fell in, drenching herself. Popping her head above the surface, she let out a gasp for air. Her demeanor had changed from curious to frustrated. "Nyuh!" she mumbled. The water seemed to be flowing southbound, and looking up, she could see Keuredet drifting away from her, or rather, she drifting from it. Raising her arms out of the water, she touched the surface, the tips of her fingers glowing blue, as the water slowly began to freeze. Unfortunately, it wanted to wrap around her, and in an attempt to eascape the cold magic she produced, got her leg caught in it. "Nyagh!" she yelled, trying to wrench her foot free. Eventually she did, and in doing so, fell back into the water.
Swimming to the surface a second time, her carefree attitude went down the drain, replaced with a sour frown. She casually swam over to the ice bridge, climbing onto it. She then took her coat and began to shake it violently to get most of the water out. Each time she shook it, a "Fwiip!" was heard. Tossing it over her left arm, she trudged into town, soaking wet. She knew people might ask what she had done, though it would be a little obvious. She decided to head to Emily and Amy's place, just for the hell of it.

[ Izzy : Deku Town : Chieftain's Home ]

Izzy winced as he viewed Felin's painful predicament. Making a note to be more careful than she had been, he grabbed an edge of the hole with his hands and lowered himself down, then let go of the edge and dropped down the rest of the way, landing quite softly on the carpeted floor below. He smiled and gave her a pat on the shoulder as if to let her know it would be okay, then turned his attention to the Deku Scrub sitting behind the desk.

[ Woodbine and Deku Chieftain : Deku Town : Chieftain's Home ]

"Well, looks like my job here is done," Woodbine said with a low bow in the Chieftain's direction. "Good afternoon, your excellency." He turned and walked just below the "door", waving at the two Kokiri on his way. "You two be good, now. I'll catch ya on the flip side." With this, he burrowed into a golden Deku Flower, then popped up into the air, straight out of the hole.

The Chieftain, with a smile, rose to his feet after the sax player's departure. "Well, my little friends, on to business, eh? So you were sent by the Great Tree... If that is the case, then you must be exceptionally brave and talented. Forgive me if I'm being rude, but I must ask a favor of you."

At this point, he crumpled up the scroll he had been reading, and slowly walked across the room, stopping at a set of stairs that led down to his basement. "The thing is, these dratted monsters are just ruining everything for us up here in Deku Town! I know, you didn't see any on your way up here, but that's just the thing. They never appear in the town, but inside the Old Tree itself, which is a sort of "mine" for us Deku. Ah, but listen to me go on! Come, follow me and I'll show you what I mean." The Chieftain chuckled in a rather less-than-friendly tone, and headed down the stairs.

[ Izzy : Deku Town : Chieftain's Home ]

"...So...You want us to clear out the monsters in your mines, right?" Izzy guessed, connecting the dots rather easily in his mind. He followed the Deku leader down the stairs, where he found himself in a dark corridor - a dead-end corridor. There was nothing but a solid stone wall on the other side. He shrugged and picked up his pace, looking back every once in a while to make sure Felin didn't fall behind.

"And obviously, you guys can't take care of it yourselves, or you wouldn't still be waiting. I guess it's lucky the Great Deku Tree sent us up here for a weapon.... Odd sort of coincidence, though, isn't it, Felin?"

[ Felin : Deku Town : Chieftan's Home ]

Felin followed Izzy, looking around the small corridor. It didn't seem inviting, that was for sure. She also got a weird vibe from the Chieftan's last words, and couldn't really explain it. Nevertheless, she trotted onward.
Her trot came to a halt when it seemed like a dead end. Well this is rather anti-climactic, sh thought to herself. She looked to Izzy when he asked her a question. "Huh? Right, yeah, this does seem odd." And it was odd indeed. They endured so much to get up here, just to get a weapon, and were now going to be tasked with a sort of extermination project in the Old Tree? Something wasn't right here. Felin just wasn't sure quite what yet... Maybe ignorance would be best for now. "So how do we get in? This can't be all there is."
