 Bertha thought she saw something to her left and swam fiercely to it. Sadly that thing was a wall. The giant fish is dizzy for several moment, barely able to move. Name: Big Bertha HP: 43/50 Special: 1d20 The OOC Bertha is greatly weakened! You may each attack twice, using stronger rolls. Roll 2 8-sided die, and subtract 6 for your damage!

When the fish slammed into the wall Sin knew it was the perfect chance to attack. She rushed forward...but the floor was like a slip'n'slide, she slid unceremoniously across the ground.

The owl-like demon let out a small screech in triumph as he landed a stronger hit and turned around, attacking again in the hopes that whatever had spurred him on the first time would keep up.
Unfortunately, his claws just grazed the fish, not even scraping its skin.

Thrashing in pain, Bertha's gone mad with hunger and rage! Her already gaping mouth opens up twice as wide...it is now a wide as the chamber itself! Speeding through the water she jumps up at the two students and... Name: Big Bertha HP: 37/50 Special: 1d20 The OOC Bertha's now aiming for both students! Each of you roll 1 8-sided die, and add them up to indicate how high they managed to jump together. If your total exceeds 12, they have both escaped from the fish's mouth! If less...well, at least Bertha will be full. For like ten minutes, but still... circle of life.

Sin saw the fish coming and realized...there was nowhere to go. She tried to jump, she even flapped her wings though she knew they weren't big enough to help her fly yet. It wasn't looking good...gulp!

When Sin jumped, Julian followed and grabbed her around the waist, spreading his wings out to try and fly them up towards the ceiling, away from the fish. But he wasn't used to carrying someone else and his feathers being wet weighed them down. They weren't getting high enough! All he could think was that he'd failed again.

The giant fish gave an enormous belch and quietly sunk to the bottom of the well, where she merged with the floor and became a...large door. The students would wake to find themselves at their hub, in the same condition that Bertha had swallowed them in. However...the smell of fish would remain with them throughout the rest of their adventure in the unpredictable house.

After respawning at their hub, bearing both the burden of defeat and fishy odor to match, the group finds themselves in a great hall. At the far end, two giant stone doors loom over the group. One is decorated with clouds, the other with waves. Beside the door, two giant stone statue, on of a fish, the other of a bird, stand guard. Quote: Upon seeing the group, they speak in unison: “We are the guardians of the way onward.” They fall silent. Then the one on the left speaks, “Both of these doors lead somewhere.” “But it all depends on what you’re looking for,” the statue on the right chimes in, “If it is the way forward -” “Oh! I know that one!” The one on the left interrupts. “It’s behind my door!” The one on the right shakes its head. “No, it isn’t. You just want them to go through your door for your own amusement.” “I am not!” The left statue retorts, “I’m only trying to help! You’re the one who is insisting on confusing them! Besides,” the statue turns towards the group. “Why don’t you lot pick?” “It is your decision, after all,” the right statue adds with a nod. “Though you may wish to discuss it amongst yourselves; you must agree on one door, and must go through that door and only that door.” “And we can’t tell you what’s behind the doors, either,” the statue on the left chimes in. “So don’t get any ideas! Just let us know which door you pick. And you can’t ask us any questions, either.” The right statue says nothing, and watches the group expectantly.

Julian frowned as he listened to the two statues explain the doors and bicker among one another. His wings were wrapped around him like a cloak again, still trying to get over the water and the blasted fish. He hadn't enjoyed being eaten by a fish, especially since he was supposed to be a little bit higher on the food chain.
He didn't like this any more than the last puzzle. If any of these things could be called puzzles.
"I'd rather not side with the fish," he grumbled a little softly, feathers ruffled. His claws clicked rather loudly on the floor as he approached the doors and statues.
"They can't tell up what's behind the doors, one of them is lying about which door is the way forward... I like how school hasn't really prepared us for these things." The last sentence came out far softer than the rest of his thoughtful mumblings.

Another strange room, Sin sighed and started to look about curiously examining everything. She was irritated by the humiliating scent of defeat that clung to her and her companions, fish scent. She glanced again wishing she could find some perfume or changes of clothes. Then she glared at the fish statue and listened to their puzzling words. Choose one? Well there was no way she was boing through a fish door after the traumatic experience they'd had. She agreed completely with Julian on that count.
"I say we go with the bird...Alcie?"
