The kitsune couldn't help a small laugh. "No, but wouldn't that be fun? Some insane secret society that has ghosts with crazy abilities. I wonder what we'd call ourselves? You'll also find that the little fiends do that often, things they aren't supposed to. It's like catnip to them." Merci still couldn't thank the stars enough that her boy was more interested in... well.. the stars, then causing any amount of mischief.

The kitsune cocked one ear back toward the grill for a moment. The smells coming from over there were amazing, and she had skipped a meal in preparation of excellent tidbits that would likely be available here. "So your name is Anais? That's a pretty name I have to admit. You should actually come in the shop next time you decide to happen by. I work there so I'd be happy to show you around. Sometimes Reyna does custom orders too, and everything really is of fine quality.

Vance glanced down at Tek and he tried not to sneer. He knew they were going to be here, but he had to see this little monster enough around the house. He shifted his rather long body a bit and his coils tightened. "Yes, well I arrived with Merci. She said I had to bring the thing here." His head tilted down to what the tentacled creature was holding and he flicked his tongue in and out of his mouth, tasting the air. "What is that? It smells pretty good actually." Whether he was looking at the food or the fiend was up for debate, as his eyes were hidden behind his blindfold.

Coal spun in place as Nell greeted him mimicking the other fiend to a degree, the bits of dark shadow around him flickered almost as if he might be giggling as if he was ticklish.

Theirn tensed as Trivii flattened her ears and moved, he'd spooked her and hadn't meant to. On instinct he crouched down trying to make himself look smaller and hopefully less threatening, however as he bent he found himself bending closer and just leaned and sniffed at one of her flattened ears. Oh shi- was all he could think. Before his brain processed much of anything he sighed and paused categorizing the smell, "lightening - y..."

Tek cant his head to the side watching Vance, Sully is here? I'll have to go find her, Tek once again was either ignoring Vance's remarks or just hadn't caught them. And this stuff is stuff from the table, the host highly recommended it, so I brought you some!

Rhys turned a bit and looked over to Amon nodding slightly in greeting, "I'm afraid that I'm not much help at the grill anyways so I don't mind at all. I do want one of those burgers before they get charred though." Rhys grinned slightly glancing to Ruku and grabbing himself a plate. He might as well try to mingle some since everyone seemed to be gathered.

Nell moved in for the kill, exploring and teasing enjoying the somehow acrid flavor or the other wisps shadows, it became a duel... in so much as a couple of toddlers impersonating pirates.

Trivii blinked and pressed herself back into the bench, was he flirting with her? Or was he trying to intimidate her? The hair along the tips of her ears spiked straight and the skin itched.. resisting a great deal the tip of her tail twitched of its own volition. No human would have been able to scent the storm on her skin.

Uneasy she glanced about tracking her escape route, She could always waive Jasa over.... But the cat girl was stubborn and curious, its the combination that killed the cat of myth. Drawing a slow breath she tried to perk her ears but they weren't listening. Figures. In annoyance and agitation the ear nearest him twitched.

"Uhh... My name is Trivii, This is Nell... and you are?" Fabulous that sounds... so.. ugh.

Nell whirled and ducked down into the shadow behind the bench.

Vance's brow furrowed as he looked down at the plate. "Thank you," Okay he was an a*****e but at least he was one that pretended to have manners. He made an effort at pulling his body around to settle more comfortably where he was reclining against the fence. "I suppose I should try some." Before he took the plate from Tek he pulled the insanely long pink tendril that he grew and wrapped it around his body, a little bit like an organic boa.

The Medusa gracefully accepted the fiend's offering, he lifted it to his face and sniffed it. It smelled odd, and Vance flicked his tongue out gently to brush over the surface of what he was given. He cocked his head to the side, like a wine critic sniffing a glass before actually tasting the vintage. "Hmm.." Well there was really only one way to find out right?

The snake man used a chip to scoop some of the sauce together. His lips parted and he deposited it inside. This sort of things wasn't really to his liking, he was a carnivore by nature. Merci, however, had made them all expand their horizons as far as their diets went. She said 'Just because I live with all of you, doesn't mean I'm going to eat meat all the time. I need some variety'. Vance rolled the food around in his mouth and swallowed. It was spicy, actually it was scorching, but the flavor of the food couldn't be denied.

He didn't sputter around, flail or otherwise freak out. The Medusa looked down at Tek and all he said was "Mm, pretty good actually. Thanks for the food, saves me a trip to the table." With those words he scooped up the sambal on another chip and popped it in his mouth, crunching away happily.

Coal moved back and then dodged around the other wisp seemingly entertained by the game. When Nell dropped down behind the bench Coal darted along the other side of the bench attempting to peek around and find Nell on the other side.

Theirn winced watching Trivii's reaction, the thought that just continuing past would be better then what was happening came to his mind again. Clearing his throat he settled down on the ground by the bench giving the cat girl room. "Nice to meet you, I'm Theirn and the little one over there is Coal," Theirn gestured toward where Coal had ducked behind the bench in pursuit of Nell. "...I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," the tall Roma rubbed the back of his head subconsciously as he spoke,"I'm not really use to having a lot of people with...animalistic traits around." Scrunching his nose slightly he reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out a cigarette he'd rolled earlier in the day, glancing around he thought better of lighting it in the middle of everything and tucked it behind his ear.

Tek watched Vance eat the sambal intently, tiling his head to the side he narrowed his three eyes toward the medusa as there was no reaction as Algie had. Tek straightened himself some to peer over the plate thinking for a moment that somehow the items on the plate had been switched out with something else. The game it seemed was over, the dip had lost it's magical powers on Vance, grumbling slightly Tek looked up toward Vance.

Your horrible at this game,
the little fiend's voice was a mixture of disappointment and accusation. Tek started moving past and away from Vance for a moment stopping near his tail, the medusa loved to point out that his tail was bigger and more powerful then any of Tek's tentacles. Reaching out with xyrs tail tentacles he wiggled them over Vance's tail, and it doesn't matter how big your tail is - my tentacles are better because I have more!

Rutie’s shadows wrapped around Dio’s fingers instantly, trying to hold onto it with surprising strength, as if trying for a game of finger-wrestling. But that bout of strength only lasted for a moment, and then the wisp had already tired himself out.

“Hahah, no, not like Reyna.” ‘Auntie’?! Miranda almost choked at hearing her intimidating co-worker referred to as thus. “Not like Reyna at all, our styles are completely different. Which is why Mr Athan hired me, apparently, he wanted to offer an alternative to the shop’s customers? And something less expensive too.” She nervously toyed with one of her peach-pink strands, unaware she had still some frosting sticking to her fingers from the cake. “I make costume jewelry, essentially.” She blushed a little. “It’s nowhere near the classy stuff Reyna does. She’s awesome.”

Miranda heaved a heavy sigh. “She seems to hate on me, though.” She still wasn’t quite done what she’d done to deserve that. The demoness’ dislike had been pretty much instant. “I’m sorry,” she added. “I’m babbling. Bad habit of mine. You should see my phone bill.” She grinned, and then bent forward to curiously give Dio’s arm a closer look. “That is amazing, really. I wonder if it’s possible to navigate by them.” She hesitated for but a moment, and then tentatively reached out a hand to touch. Dio’s skin felt cool, and soft. It was hard to describe. Different from Nephrite though, whose skin felt like silk to the touch.

Rutie seemed to turn, apparently following Sullie’s movement when she started circling him. Eventually he reached out with a shadowy tendril, sort of ‘pawing’ at her, with enough force to make her spin mid-air. Like an imaginary ‘slap on the shoulder’ – or possibly an invitation to a game of tag, as he promply zoomed off to hide behind his guardian.

Rutie!” Miranda glared. “Where are your manners, you can’t simply go and hit a girl. I’m sorry,” she added with an apologetic smile, directed at Dio. “I think my cat’s behavior is sort of starting to rub off on him.”

Nell not being quite so good at hiding in shadows as coal would be drew her tendrils of darkness in, in an effort to obscure herself... but it was a bit like an ostrich sticking its head in the sand.

His strategy was working, by placing himself at her feet, Trivii did feel less threatened. She glanced over at the playing wisps' and grinned showing all of her pointy incisors, he tail loosened from about her waist and began flicking in a gentle 'ticktock' like motion.

The cat-girls ears started to lift a bit. "Theirn," she flicked a glance back to him. "Not much on tact are you? Most of those present wouldn't have pointed out my feline features."

What was she thinking? Baiting him!

A playful curious edge entered her purring voice. "Its always nice to meet new people, I'll warn you... I'm nosy. I use to right freelance until I got roped into this gig." She tilted her chin towards the wisps.

Her pulse was just a little to thready for her comfort, this new character, Theirn smelled far too much like a predator, but the curious kitty does learn, and didn't outright ask what she wanted to know. "You must have a sensitive nose, almost no-one can really smell electricity."

Attempting to sneak away the orange cabochon flicked a tendril at Coal and retreated deeper into the shadows cast by undergrowth.

Nephrite’s eyes widened. Another gift for her? There definitely needed to be more parties like this one, if they meant she’d get gifts from people she barely even knew. ‘Thank you,’ she said, having no choice now but to let go of the shimmering blue wisp she’d just managed to capture. Admiring, she turned the comb this way and that. She really liked the floral design it had. And it was green. She liked green. Eventually she reached up, carefully wiggling the new accessory into her bun. It didn't quite match her outfit, but it was a gift and needed to be worn, and to be shown off. ‘I like it very much.’

Now, where had Obli gone to? The little fiend looked about, trying to catch sight of the small oval stone. Instead her gaze fell upon one of the pastel-colored cake liners Miranda had used on her cute little cakes, carelessly discarded on the lawn of her garden. Nephrite frowned. Now who would do such a thing, when there was a trash bin right next to the food table? Really, people had no manners.

‘Excuse me,’ she said, gingerly picking up the piece of pastel-colored paper to dispose of it. Curiously she took note of the sparkling bits of glimmer that seemed to cling to it. Like fairy dust.

“I beg you to take note of the ‘the people they choose’ bit,” Amon inserted wryly. “Because I don’t think anyone ever but the overly naïve young lady with the peach hair over there has volunteered for the task. So, it’s more of a support group meeting rather than a secret society.” He hadn’t intended for his words to be quite so cynical. But being responsible for raising a spoiled, manipulative little princess who could walk through walls and was notoriously kleptomaniac – plus using him as the occasional guinea pig to test her herbal lore skills – had never been on his list. “Pardon,” he muttered. “Just … still fostering somewhat of a grudge here.”

“And, that is correct, Nephrite wasn’t supposed to invite you,” he added, looking at Anais with his one eye directly. It had a strange color somewhere in between colors, speckled with hints of gold so close to the fire. “I am glad, however, you decided to come.” If only because the young lady seemed refreshingly normal. Relieving Rhys and Ruku for now, leaving them to roam as they wished, he took over the tongs, flipping the meat and the hotdogs in an expert manner. “If you don’t want your meat to be really well done,” he said to Merci, “I’d pick now. Or, alternatively, wait for the next batch. I also highly recommend trying the sambal on the buffet table over there. The red stuff.” He smirked, hoping Anais wouldn’t give away just how vile said ‘red stuff’ was.

So Merci occasionally worked at the shop as well? Weird, he’d never met her there. Then again, he rarely actually entered the shop, preferring to take a smoke in front of it until Nephrite was ready and they could head home.

Home. He glanced back at the house, small but comfortable and painted in shades of green, wondering at just how quickly their new domicile (and its garden!) had grown on him, despite it being so remote. He’d loathe to move again, and he really hoped no one uninvited would eventually show up to crash the party.

Like Amy, for instance.

Despite the fact he was standing right next to the grill, Amon shuddered.

‘Are you alright?’ Nephrite inquired, almost immediately, attuned to his emotions like no other. Soul-bond. None of his feelings would ever be truly private as long as that bond existed. ‘I’m alright, don’t worry,’ he spun back his thoughts towards her, softly. It wasn’t her fault they’d ended up like this, and he’d long since given up blaming her for it. She was only a child, albeit one of the exceptionally deceptive and manipulative kind.

The teenager glanced down at where Miranda touched his arm, 'I'm sure you're wrong about that. Auntie Reyna is really sweet, she wouldn't just hate you for no reason. You should do what I do and just give her a hug.' Dio really had no concept of Reyna being anything other then cuddly. His voice held an edge of amusement, 'People tell me I babble all the time. You know, It sounds to me like you admire her. I don't blame you for that, Auntie Reyna's really good at what she does. If you like her though you should just tell her, I'm sure she'd be less grumpy with you if she knew that she was hurting your feelings.'

Dio moved his starry arm and reached toward the woman he was talking to. His fingers found the piece of hair she was playing with earlier, 'You're getting frosting in your hair.' His voice was quiet and gentle as he tried to use his fingers to brush the sweet stuff off her. 'As far as my arm, I probably could. Though it's easier to just ask them. Stars are generally very helpful, if you can get past the fact they all wanna talk at the same time. When he was finally satisfied her hair was mostly free of frosting he withdrew.

Sulfur spun in place and seemed to wobble in mid-air for a moment. The little flames twisted around her, giving her the comic effect of looking dazed and stunned for a moment at the "smack".

She was not about to take that laying down, or in any other position. She righted herself and tried to spot the little twister. She was about to charge right over there and give him what-for when a black hand swooped in and scooped her right out of the air. Sully was not pleased with this treatment, and the little fires around her seemed to reflect that, licking the air with abandon at her ire.

The older shadow was obviously not worried about his well being in the slightest. It was obvious the little thing couldn't do any harm to him. 'I said to play nice.' His burgundy gaze moved from Sully back up to Rutie, 'That goes for both of you. How do you expect them to let us all play together if you're going to fight.' It was because of things like this the fiends weren't allowed to congregate in large numbers very often. At least that was Dio's theory.

Merci saw Rhys peel himself away from grill duty and she was quick to reach a hand over and snag him. She pulled him under her arm, careful not to knock the plate from his hands. "Rhys, darling. I have a job for you. Vance is refusing to go home on the bikes. Could you do me a huge favor and see if anyone around here would be willing to give him a lift home on something a bit "safer" as he puts it? I would be really grateful." Her green eyes were looking at her "son", "I'm talking shop here otherwise I would do it myself." She was really hoping he'd help her. She wasn't looking forward to Vance's coiled body crushing the life out of her as she tried to speed home.

Merci's gaze moved over to Amon, and unlike most of the other woman that were here, she didn't seem in the least bit affected by his good looks. She leaned over and sucked her lower lip into her mouth while she looked over the meats available. "Oh can I have that one? Actually you can just pull it off now, It's pretty much perfect just like it is."

The Medusa in question eyed Tek, and the tip of his tail ticked back and forth. He was actually in a good mood, despite the fact that his Merci had tried to kill them on the way over here. The smells of food and the bustle of people was calming to watch, as long as he wasn't expected to join in at least.

Though for some reason, this little monster was trying to get under his skin, "Oh? You know what they say about quality over quantity right? Maybe you should ask your guardian. People always like something that's made better over a lot of something else." He scooped up another chip and nommed it. "What's got your panties in a bunch anyway. I was nice and I said thank you for the food." Vance was just a tad confused at Tek's sudden change of attitude.

“I tried, I really did.” Miranda gave Dio a grateful smile, but it was tinged with sadness, and resignation. “I swear, I’ve got no idea what I did to her. She just seems to have it in for me.” She shrugged, trying to wrap her mind around the idea of Reyna being ‘really sweet’. It simply didn’t work.

“She is good at what she does,” she admitted. That went for the jewelry she made just as well as intimidating co-workers. She very much doubted Reyna cared even the slightest if she hurt her feelings. She probably enjoyed it, even. It did, however, seem like Dio very much adored his ‘auntie’, so Miranda didn’t mention any of it.

“You speak to the stars?” Mir’s eyes widened, only remotely registering the fiend was brushing frosting from her hair. “I mean. Like. You really speak to them? They really speak to you?” She drew in a shivering breath. “That is amazing.” She’d had no idea stars could speak. Like, weren’t they just like, massive, luminous balls of plasma in outer space?

She snuggled deeper into her chair, drawing up her legs and not bothering to try and capture little Rutie. It was an impossible feat, she knew that from experience. Instead she liked the remaining frosting from her fingertips. “Boys will be boys,” she said, not even trying to admonish little Rutie. “He did pretty much the same thing to Bloo, you know? He’s quite a little rascal.” She grinned.

"Thank you." Unlike some people Anais actually did like her name. It was short and yet could be sortened. People often called her Ana or Nay for short. The invitation to drop by the shop made her smile even more. Of course she knew she could just go in, but with setting up her business and her apartment she hadn't really had the time or the spare cash to burn.
"I will most definitely stop by properly. I think I will buy myself a present when I make my first profit. You should drop by my shop too" Anais reached into the pocket of her cardigan and pulled out a business card. X. "I make cakes and pastries I don't know if you have a sweet tooth or not but I can do savoury pies too."

“Who is this ‘Vance’?” Amon inquired, quirking a curious brow upon overhearing the kitsune talking to Rhys. The poor boy looked as if he was about to get strangled. “Being the host, I don’t intend upon drinking more than a beer or two, so …” He shrugged. “I could give people a ride, I don’t mind. Though it would have to be late.”

He shrugged. “Or, they could just stay the night. I have the room. And I need to go into town tomorrow anyway.” Not to mention the fact Nephrite would be thrilled at the prospect of someone staying over, as that happened rarely enough. It would likely entice her into preparing breakfast, something he didn’t mind at all.

He put the piece of meat Merci had indicated on a plate. If he’d noticed her disinterest in him at all, he was simply plain ignoring it. In fact, he very much appreciated people behaving normal around him.

Curiously he glanced at the business card Anais was handing to the fox woman. “Could I possibly have one of those too?”

Dio let go of Sully and he moved his eyes back down to Miranda. He could tell she wasn't comfortable talking about Auntie Reyna, so he let it drop. There were some things he didn't like talking about either. It was killing him to know what made her so nervous about one of the sweetest people in the world, but he reined himself in. He wasn't going to scare her by starting a string of questions, because he wasn't sure he could stop when he started. Instead he moved his gaze down to Sully, 'She doesn't get out much. Her guardian actively hates her. So much so he's tried to give her back, this is her first time out of the house since then really. So I guess you could say she's a little sheltered.'

The wisp moved back and forth, trying to spot Rutie, she wasn't going to let him get away with it. Her determination, however, was short lived. She gave up her little hunt and started to float off toward Vance, she didn't like being so far away from him. Even if Dio was going to watch over her, she didn't want Vance trying to sneak away without her.

Dio watched the yellow wisp until he was sure of where she was going. 'The stars though,' he turned his face back to her, and he gathered his thoughts before continueing, 'Yes, well they sing more then they speak actually.' He turned his face up toward the sky for a moment and he let his eyes drift shut. He started humming, the tune wasn't anything that would have been recognizable. It was somehow discordant and beautiful all at the same time.

After a few bars, the fiend stopped and opened his visible eye again. 'I've been figuring out that there is a difference between what science calls a star, and what stars actually are. My Merci bought me a telescope when I was a child, and I tried to look out into the heavens to see what I could hear. I never found anything though. I'm not sure about all of it yet, I'm still trying to figure parts of what I can do out. I do know they watch over everyone though.'

Anais was pleasantly surprised at Amon's request. Of course she had hoped that she might be able to drum up some business but she didn't want to seem rude. It was not her priority for the party.
"Of course." She reached back into her pocket and pulled out another card to hand him. "I cater for events as well as private orders. And I make a mean chilli chocolate cake. Could even top your sambal." She gave a catlike grin.
