Cellyn relaxed in the bench against the wall, glad to be sitting on a cushion instead of hard wood or a saddle. The tall woman, she had discovered, was the wife of the owner, currently away on a business trip. An idea for another investment of her father's money made her smile as the serving girl brought her lunch - looking like a girl instead of a lightskirt.
"Here you are, ma'am."
"Thank you. Please come back in a few minutes, my friend has just arrived and I'm sure he'll be hungry," Cellyn requested, watched Noj as the girl bobbed her head and flitted away to the next table. She was sure he'd recognize her - she didn't give her appearance that much credence and doubted his attitude would change at all - but didn't feel like hollaring across the common room like some common girl.

Noj scanned the room and spotted Cellyn sitting by the far wall. He had the right place. She hadn't decided to dump the horse and leave he supposed. Poor her. Making his way over he sat down, noting the fancy dress. He expected nothing less from her. either she was from a noted merchant family or a minor noble family. Just enough money to be spoiled but not enough to expect every thing to be given to her, at least if his guess was right. It was probably a funny scene, seeing someone dressed as her sitting with a gruff looking man like Noj, in somewhat dirty travel clothes that were a bit sweat stained. He could go for a new set of cloths, but that would have to wait until he earned some coin tomorrow if he could. For now he could just wash his clothes. In a place like this he doubted they'd be to stingy to not provide him a washboard and a bucket as long as he did the dirty work.

Removing the string that held the scroll of paper together Noj unrolled the map and scanned it, finding the town they were in, a few leagues South from the last place they were, and were still rather entrenched in the Borderlands. "Alright, I got a map for the surrounding area for quite a ways, though if you still wish me to escort you, would you mind if we stayed here tomorrow as well?"

"I paid for two rooms for two nights, we can stay as long as you think we should," Cellyn replied, answering both questions with a shrug. She took in his appearance and shook her head. "There's a tailor just a few doors down with whom I just made a business arraingment with. If you like, you can get clothes there and those can be washed. I had mine washed - we need saddlebags, or at least I do. Everything I had was lost when that blasted horse ran off." A frown creased her face and she heaved a sigh in aggravation. Her mouth opened as if she was about to say something, paused, then eyed him sharply. "I don't mind traveling with you, as long as I'm not going to be preached at the entire way. Hm?"

Noj sighed. "Everyone has their demons, just as I have mine. I may have been out of line, but I wasn't a hundred percent wrong either, and that's all I'll say. I'm happy as long as you'll acknowledge that. And since I have my own room, I'll borrow a washboard and bucket, and wash them myself. The main reason I want to stay an extra day is to make some coin at the smithy, so I don't owe you everything that we may need, and that's where I'll be." Noj glanced back as the serving girl came back, who seemed to be giving Noj an appraising look till she realized that he noticed. Blushing a little, she asked him what he'd like. "I'm fine with anything, as long as it comes with some ale." By the Light he needed it, even after venting a majority of his stress at the anvil.

Cellyn nodded, acknowledging his words. "All right, then. I can spend tomorrow seeing what else there is in this town, there may be other investments I can make if I'm careful about it." She picked a bit at her food, a smile on her face, pleased about the compromise Noj had offered. She nodded, settling some internal debate, before glancing over at him. "We were both wrong and both right, so truce. I'll admit it if you can," she offered with a grin.

Noj shrugged again. "Whatever, I don't really care either way. I hope Light Dancer doesn't mind spending another day in the stables. I'll have to untie him tonight and let him stretch his legs I suppose." Noj was about to lean back till he remembered that he wasn't in a chair but a bench. Sad. "So, since you've heard my sop story, how bout you tell me yours? Only fair."

She batted her eyelashes at him with a short laugh, shaking her head. "Mine, you ask? My mother died in childbirth, but since I never knew her it was never a great sorrow to me," she replied with a levity that belied her true feelings. "I've had a few missteps with a few fools who thought they were going to marry me, but a few days hiding in the woods gave them quite the right impression."
Cellyn flashed another smile, a little too bright, a little too brittle. "So, you see, I have experience but not much sorrow in my life, I'm afraid. I'm a dull, rather undeveloped character. Nothing interesting at all."

Noj laughed, "It's not worth it, trust me. Three and a half decades of one thing after another gets old. The only bright side is that I still look like I'm coming into age as long as I don't get all serious or into a fight. I'm good at putting across the act too, not that it's too hard." Noj smiled to the serving girl as she put down a plate of food, that appeared to be lamb. Maybe the day was going to end much better than it started. It was hard to laugh off Myrdraal, and an Asha'man, and a fortelling, and a Darkfriend who was looking for him, and some girl who could randomly channel Saidar, but hey, he'd been through worse....right?

"You're definitely good at playing stupid," Cellyn agreed with a smirk, working on her own lunch some more. She couldn't resist the backhanded compliment, surprised by Noj's age. He still wasn't that much older than her, but it was just hard to seein his face. "Do have any plans for what's left of the day?" she asked, glancing up from her plate. She liked to call th meal lunch, but it was closer to supper than anything since the sun was going down already.

Noj shook his head, digging right in to the food. He was rather hungry after all. "Truthfully," he said after swallowing his first bite, "I was planning on going back to the room and washing my clothes, maybe catch up on sleep." Make sure his sword didn't malform for some reason or another from the heat. "But eh, I'm up for whatever." He glanced around, noting some of the wary looks he got. He supposed even in the time before Tairmon Gaidin, these villages were more accustomed to seeing makeshift weapons such as pitchforks and hatchets as apposed to a sword, thus making them a tad uncomfortable seeing a real weapon casually at some brute of a man's hip.

Cellyn shrugged. "I was thinking of having a few more dresses made while we're here, most of his things simply need a bit of altering," she mused, thinking back to the gowns the tailor had had stuffed away in a back room. There wasn't much else to do, other than look for supplies, and that could wait until morning. She watched the man through her lashes - there was no noticible change in his attitude, other than being a bit more amicable, and she decided the new dress hadn't made much of a difference after all.

Noj tilted his head from side to side. "As I said, what ever is fine, but it's almost dark. And I personally, need to clean these rags, so I think going to my room is the best thing for me to do." That wasn't the only reason. That Asha'man had told him something along the lines of clearing his mind of emotion. And Noj planned on implementing it, or attempting too, upstairs before he went to sleep. He thought he'd give it a shot tomorrow as well, since hammering at the forge seemed to help clear his mind as well.

Finished with her meal, Cellyn pushed herself to her feet and nodded. "All right, I'll see you in the morning, then. Let me know when you'd like to get some more clothing," she told him with an actual smile. She supposed he thought her spoiled, silly, for getting a few more dresses. But most would be packed, bundled safely against dirt until she needed to make a good impression on a business partner or noble who might get her out of trouble. Light only knew what else could happen on their trip, after all.

The candles were halfway melted by the time Cellyn was finished at the tailor's, having gone through three more dresses to be picked up later the next day. They were both pleased - she with the work and he for the work. She smiled and hummed to herself as she strode back to the inn and up the stairs, locking her door before changing into a nightgown she had borrowed from the inn and hiding beneath the blankets, longing for a candle or the sun to rise. She had never liked the dark.

Noj sat naked in his room, his clothes drying in the corner. He was currently trying just to grab at Saidin through focus. Normally it only happened on and off when he was stressed about something, which was normally when he needed it, but if he knew it was there, that was all the better. Emptying his mind was too incredibly difficult sitting in his room near the fire with the cozy atmosphere, and the glow of Saidin was right before him. He was still hesitant to grab it though. All of his channeling so far and been instinctual, so actually approaching it voluntarily seemed a bit daunting. Hesitantly, he reached out, gripping at Saidin. Immediately he was assaulted by rivers of fire, weighed down by mountains of ice, but he held steadfast. He'd been through worse that this for sure. So, he could grab Saidin, that was good. Holding up a square of paper, he focused, trying to will it to burst aflame for several minutes, eventually giving up for feeling silly. What did he normally do when he channeled. He didn't exactly will things to be, he...molded them so they would be so if he had to describe it. For a moment, he stared at the fire, looking for...something, that he saw in seemingly dancing red threads. Maybe? He reached out with his mind, and tugged one, seeing a red line arch through the Air behind it. It...was something. He would continue, but he needed sleep. Sighing, he released Saidin in all of it's splendor, and walked over to his bed. He hoped that the inn workers would mind him sleeping without clothes. If they did, they wouldn't know unless they broke the door down he supposed.

Cellyn rolled fitfully, clutching her pillow over her head in a subconcious effort to block the dreams that were plaguing her. Nightmares would have been easier, but these seemed too foreboding, too real to dismiss as nightmares. Nightmares involved things that go bump in the night - these dreams had so much more.

She screamed herself awake, finding herself on the floor, tangled in her blanket and the long skirt of her nightgown. Panting, she wiped sweat off her brow and struggled to right herself, the images still flashing behind her eyes. There was a man on a horse, a black horse, in front of an army. The sun was shining so bright behind him she couldn't see anything but his physique. He was facing a shadowed valley, pitch-black as far as she could see, but a chain was wrapped around his neck and keeping him from going forward. Another came from his back. It bound him to something - how she knew, she couldn't explain - and yet she couldn't see where it led to.

That wasn't what scared her. What had made her scream was the fighting, the battle so realistic despite the fact she had never seen a fight other than Noj's attack on the Darkspawn.
"That must be it," Cellyn realized, putting the bed to rights. "I'm having bloody nightmares because of that." It didn't even convince her, but pretending it did was better than dwelling on it. The woman stripped and sank into the cold bathwater up to her chin, closing her eyes with a sigh of relief as she woke up from the chill. It was dusted with white outside, she noted as she dried off a few minutes later, hair once more braided but hanging down her back, and she pulled on the dress from last night. It was heavy and warm, something she was grateful for as she opened her door and walked into the chill of the hall.
