There was so much to do for this city. It had just fallen to war, and was recovering from the destruction that had followed through with the war. Sure, this wasn't the best place for a blacksmith, but this was where he was setting up his shop at this moment. Besides, once the reconstruction was over, he would be able to go back to his normal job.
So there in the marketplace sat a new stand for the young blacksmith that goes by the name Enailios. Sure, he didn't get that many customers right now due to them being busy with other things, but he could at least know that he had a place in this world. He didn't know that many people here because of the fact that he came from an area that wasn't the same as everyone else. Hell, he figured that no one in this world was from Jugdral anyways! But that wouldn't stop him from doing his job as a blacksmith.
So all he did was wait at his shop. Sitting down with his hammer ready, he kept a smile on his face and watched people go by. He figured that sooner or later he would get out there and socialize, but at the moment he just wanted to get a feel of how people interacted with others, and watching from his shop was just one way to do just that. Besides, two people would end up passing his shop, since his was just a couple shops from the tailors shop, so he would possibly get a chance to interact with two people.

You know I can't slow down...
I can't hold back...
*******************
There had been a few months since the hostilities finally ceased. While Lance's own actions were a bit of a blur (he had been drunk, after all), what mattered in the end was that they won! Lance had never let go of his own agenda; to finance and lead an expedition in the search for the solution to his own degrading mentality. All the research were done, he knew what he had to do! But to do so, he would first need the manpower to accomplish it.
Suffice to say, though, the timing before wasn't quite right. A nation in mourning would not enlist at the first maniac's call unless they were quite unstable themselves, and if there was one thing Lance could do without was more people exactly like him. Granted, what with all the research of the quintessence he was created of, he had come up with ways to isolate his insanity, so he could remain in his own control most of the time, but he still needed stability before anything else. So he had to wait, and bide his time, until the city, the people and the wounds had recovered. They still needed to be in desperation, but only just so they would jump at any opportunity. And now the time had come. The Job Fair.
People had set up booths, screaming their lungs out to find that one person that would pay attention to them. It felt like he was back in the Academy all over again. This was not extracurrical activities they were talking about though, it was actual work!
Having a booth was nice and all, but Lance took a bit more unorthodox approach. A set of crates next to a craftman's booth, probably loaded with tools, would serve as an excellet podium! Having positioned himself close to the more popular Watch booth, Lance started his sale's pitch, standing on the crates, ignoring the protests of the apprentice craftsman.
"Good people of Eyris! Greetings! Some of you might know me! My name is Lance Dartel! I know we all got affected by the war, there's no escaping it! A loss of a loved one, an injury, I could go on and on! We have all suffered, but now, we are rebuilding, healing, and growing ever stronger! However, there are still dangers lurking! We all have to deal with those our own way! The Watch recruits so they can patrol the streets, the Guard patrol our borders...but what about the rest? Who patrols our way of life?
Lance made a short pause for effect to look around him. There had gathered a small crowd, some listening more intensely than others, discussing amongst themselves, but a crowd nevertheless. Lance took a deep breath before continuing. "Who do we go to when we have a problem we need help solving? For instance, if you need an escort through the woods, or when you need someone to watch your dog while you're away, or any other issue you might think of, where the Watch or the Guard is unable to help you? Do we have anyone willing to do that?"
Lance opened up his arms and smiled broadly. "The answer is yes, ladies and gentlemen, there is! With my special freelance agency I'm putting together, we might soon have that work force, that take on pretty much any mission with the right payment, and I am looking for any able bodied individual that feel like they have a drive to help others, no matter what the problem is! Whether your skill is in battle, in crafts or any other area of expertise or whether your interest is in adventure, fortune or kindness to your fellow men, there is a place for you with me! Maybe it's you!" he finally yelled out, pointing at a random man in the crowd. "Or you!" he next turned to a woman, still with his index finger stretched. "Or perhaps...you!" There was a brief silence as Lance came to realize he was pointing at a girl not older than six at the most, before hopping down from his crate to approach the girl. The girl stared at bewilderment at him.
"Well...maybe not you, miss, maybe when you're older..." he smiled sheepishly as he squat down next to her. The girl's eyes seemed to shine up with amazement though, but maybe that's just how strange he was acting. He finally jumped back on to the crate, before continuing. "So this is an announcement to everyone! I will perform any duties no one else will take up for you, and anyone that wants to join me is free to do so! So, who's with me?!" he yelled out as if to get the crowd going, before posing with his finger pointing up. But instead of a roar from the crowd, he got nothing. Nada. Zilch.
Not entirely true. He got a question."That sounds great and all but...who are you?"
"Lance Dartel...come on! I helped defeating that crooked Rogvald! Heck, I even dealt the killing blow!" Lance exclaimed, still in his pose.
"Never heard of you...eh, nevermind, I got some other booths to check."
"Me too."
"I was thinking of joining the Watch..."
As quick as the crowd gathered, just as quick did they disappear. As Lance was left alone, he felt empty after his little show. That is, until he realized he wasn't alone.
The little girl was standing in front of his box, arm stretched out in a similar manner to him, her face filled with determination.
Wait...really? Did his words reach someone? A child, but...maybe he could incorporate her into his speech? Maybe use her to show how capable he were with children, maybe... "There you are, young lady! I've been looking all over for you!"
A woman came in half-rushed, scooping the child with her in one go.
"Noooo~! I was pwaying with the funny man!"
"Don't be ridiculous, he seemed very strange! You have to be careful of people like that, darling! Now come, we can play with your new bunny when we get home..."
"Really?! Yaaay! I love my bunny, especially how it says boyo all the time..."
As the last person from his crowd disappeared, Lance sighed.
"Would you mind? I need to get back to work." The apprentice whined, as Lance was still standing on the crate. "Oh, right, sorry. Cheers for being such a good sport." Lance in an apologetic manner, before he slumped down to the ground. He didn't really have any real preferences to what sort of people would come to him, he just needed people really. But he thought it'd be easier than this. His old mentor, when he put together a similar group of freelancers, had no trouble getting people, but maybe it really came down to a question of reputation. And that was a thing Lance didn't have. Or maybe because his group lacked a name. He needed a kickass name.
He sighed again. Maybe someone would've heard him. *******************
Though you know, I wish, I could...
You know there ain't no rest for the wicked... Until we close our eyes for good...

Blaise saw that the towns people's attention shifted to Lance and his amazing sale's pitch. She sighed and with the opportunity she sneaked away to back track to find her lost money pouch. "...ahh... it's gone..." Blaise flinched from hunger pains and took a knee.

"F-flower...?" Mihira blushed instantly. "Oh, I-I'm-" Before she could answer, Zeiss suddenly spoke up and answered for her. She looked over to him and saw the look on his face and then looked back down at Regulus. The level of testosterone doubled. As the man got up to fill out the forms, Mihira shrunk back and nervously chuckled to herself.
When Mihira stood up, she noticed that people had finished filling out the forms. "Oh, um, the orientation isn't until tomorrow, but I-I can give a tour of the barracks to whoever wants one..." she smiled politely. "Just follow me..." "Oh, I wrote the manual, teapot." Vaida responded before Wallace got in her face. So, he was going to join. That was exactly what vaida wanted, not that she would show it. In truth, she needed somebody like him. "Alright, in that case, I propose a personal test of my own." she said as she pushed him back a little with her breasts. "If you can land one blow against me, I'll think about giving you a promotion. What do you say? Shall we take this to the barracks?"

 Regulus
Regulus turned back towards Mihira when she spoke and flashed her a smile, "Thank you again oh beauteous flower. I would very much enjoy a tour. That and a proper bed upon which to rest my weary body. I have traveled a good distance before coming here." He gestured for her to take the lead, "Madame, I follow your lead." ~Melius est habere firmum semper patiatur EX pars malorum quam timens semper eventu~
Wallace
Wallace pushed back against her not backing down, "Just one blow? Gwahahahahahaha! You still are ridiculously overconfident! It would take me but one blow to knock you off of your overgrown lizard! I accept that challenge! Lead the way Viper Lady! I will show you just what it is I can do!"

Jack tried to smile pleasantly at the injured general, "There's no reason to call me, sir, you know? Lemonade sounds delightful." He walked beside her, nodding and smiling to people on the street as they passed. "I'm sorry, I'm terrible with names, he's Leon? And you're missus...?" He trailed off mid conversation.
MEANWHILE IN THE WORLD OF DERRIN
The mage was trying to stop himself from stammering but found he was entirely unable to. "W-what? N-no it wasn't your fault, I-I can pay for it." He was utterly distracted by the way the wind played with her hair and her skirt and turned even redder at the realization of this.
Suddenly she was there, close to him and, she was holding his hand. Suddenly the mage pretty much shut down entirely and let himself be dragged along down the street, somewhere in the back of his mind he heard her saying things, but they didn't register. The only thing that did was the way her smaller hand felt in his and the way she was grinning at him with that look of excitement.
In self-defense from that adorable assault he blushed. It's really his only weapon against her right now.

Amelia just sort of nodded quietly to Jack. She reached up with one hand to brush her hair off of her face and studied the sky thoughtfully, trying to avoid conversation for now. It was sunny, still hot. Very few clouds. ...He would probably be playing with him right now if he wasn't tending to the injured. Amelia tried to gulp past the lump in her throat and kept going down the road, her footsteps awkwardly tapping on the stone. If I'd been stronger... if I'd been able to get back to form sooner, maybe--
"I'm sorry, I'm terrible with names? He's Leon? And you're missus...?"
Amelia resisted the urge to snap at him, taking in a deep breath before nodding and offering a little smile. Calm down. He's being friendly! Be friendly back! You can't be a b***h, Amelia.
"Yes. His name is Leon, the brown-haired man with the purple armor. I'm Amelia. General Amelia." She rubbed a hand against the back of her neck and awkwardly let out a little breath. "And your name is Jack, so... nice to meet you, Jack."----- Blossom shook her head, still smiling brightly back at Derrin as she walked down the street, giving a glance ahead every so often in order to avoid leading him right into some innocent bystander. Or herself. "No, no, it's all right! I'd be an awful friend if I didn't make up for my mistake, right?" She turned around a corner and continued to half-pull, half-lead him down the street. The little Hero seemed to be much stronger than she appeared when she really put her mind to it!
"Okay, it should be coming up soon...!" Blossom beamed at him and passed another street, weaving through the people already on the sidewalk. She couldn't help but notice the blacksmith that had opened up just recently, near the marketplace. Well, I probably should have my broadsword checked at some point...! And Daddy's, to see how much longer it will last.
"Oi!" She shouted to the blue-haired man, idly carrying around his hammer. Probably wanted to just look the part. "If you're still open later, I'll be dropping by with some business for you!" she shouted to him, grinning before darting into the tailor's, dragging poor Derrin behind her.
She let him go, finally, and took a step away from him so he could gather himself once more. "All right! What kind of things are you interested in? I mean, other than a cloak. And the color red. You wear a lot of red."

Oi! If you're still open later, I'll be dropping by with some business for you! Well he smiled at Blossom, who seemed to be dragging some other guy with her. Always nice to see people going about together for whatever reasons they had. Although before he got a reply out, she had darted into the tailor's shop. Oh well, least he had at least one person who would give him some work.
So while he waited for other people to show up, he leaned back against a wall inside his smithy, setting his hammer down right by him. It was a nice day out there, and he felt that it would do him no good to be sitting around here all day. I do need to meet the people around here. It wouldn't hurt if I closed up for a few to do some talking. Besides, who would want to talk to someone in here? Out there is more inviting.
Leaving his hammer in his smithy, he walked out and took a good look at the crowd. Surely he could find someone to talk to. Although he could go and follow Blossom and Derrin, that really didn't seem like a good idea, just by a glance into the tailor's shop, and seeing the two of them together. Surely they would do their own shopping, so he didn't need to interfere.---------------- Regulus spoke again, but Zeiss didn't really pay that much attention to it. He didn't need to focus on that fool, since he had a job to do. Besides this guy already got on his nerves a bit just by the way he was talking with Mihira, though it shouldn't have bothered him too much. He did end up signing up for the guard, and got his horse to come back to him. Surely they would find some use for him here.
Although he turned his head down the street when Lance started to make a commotion. Something about starting a freelance agency that would do any sort of job. He couldn't help but laugh to himself at his antics. "He must really doubt some of us."
Although with Alex here, he soon came to the realization that he wouldn't be needed that much. Besides, he did come to help out Mihira so since she was going to show some people the barracks, he ended up joining them. The way they say it, the more the merrier. Besides, two people of the guard could certainly show more of the quarters they would work in. Besides, he was also gonna keep an eye on Regulus, since he had a feeling that one was a bit too much of a flirt.

As he was walking down the street with the sack of the items Lance had requested of him, Khalid could feel the stares he was getting. It felt as though everyone was following him with their gaze, and it made Khalid's cheeks flare up in deep blushing. This was humiliating beyond belief...that damn rogue, if only Khalid was a cold blooded murderer he'd...
But now he wasn't. In fact, he had grown accustomed to Lance and his antics, so maybe he was just coping with it better than he would have back at home. Or maybe it was because the thief really didn't have much of an opinion unless it directly influenced him. Either way, Khalid put up with whatever Lance made him do. Maybe this was what friends did.
As he arrived to find his friend, the rogue had...collapsed on the ground. He looked completely limp, as if he had lost the bones in his body.
Instead of expressing concern, he just voiced a question. "...what are you doing?"
The thief immediately perked up and went back to his feet. "Khalid! Finally you're here! Now we can start seriously! And you even wore the outfit I prepared for you, excellent!"
Khalid, who had been caught red-handed doing something most people wouldn't, was coerced by his friend to wear a most embarassing outfit. Short skirt, knee long socks with tightfitting long boots, pads to give him some sort of a chest to speak of, a cute blouse, and a wig with a twin-tail hairstyle, Khalid, with his quite feminine features, had been forced to look like a poster girl. "...I don't even know how you know my sizes..."
"Oh, come now, don't be sour! It suits you perfectly! If I didn't know better I really would think you were a girl! And your voice isn't very deep either, you'll have no problem fooling anyone!"
Still feeling everyone looking at him, he sighed. "I brought you the stuff. Can I go now?" Khalid was, when it all came down to it, not much of a warrior. Apart from maybe one offensive spell and a bit of self-defense with the staff, all he could do was healing and, what he was especially proud of, enchanting, along with a bit of tailoring. It wasn't all that rarely that he was told back home that he was a prodigy when it came to enchanting. He had worked long and hard on getting this batch ready for his friend of the merchandise Lance was planning on using in his recruitment speech, but he really didn't want to take more part in his friend's endeavours.
"Go?! We're just about to begin! You do as we practiced, okay!?"
"I just don't get why me!"
"B-because I don't have any female friends that could do the same! Blossom's already busy, and anyone else I talk to get weirded out! Now come on, let's do this!"
At the very least, he seemed more energetic than before. But Khalid was still dreading what was to come...
Lance hopped back up on the crates again, much to the dismay of the apprentice. "Listen again, good people! Some of you might think, 'They do not seem very serious', or 'I don't have enough time to put any effort into it.' I would just like you to these thoughts to consideration."
Lance was getting a small crowd again, so he could be proud of that at least."We may not be as established as the Watch or the Guard. But we're not planning to take over as some sort of supreme order! In fact, you don't need to actively help out unless you want to!"
Now there were murmurs erupting within the crowd again, confusion left on purpose for dramatic effect. "We'll be working by letting our members themselves choose when they're able to help out, which means you can have a regular job, and be on call whenever you feel like you have enough time to do so!"
Now a voice of disbelief sounded from the crowd. "How are we supposed to do that? Some of us have families that we live with, it's not like we can all stay together in some building whenever we're on call."
A smile crept up on Lance's face. "My lovely assistant here will explain to you exactly how that would work!"
Ugh, there it was. 'Lovely assistant'. That was his cue.
With the sweetest smile Khalid could muster, Khalid took out a pentagon shaped object about half an inch thick and three inches wide from the sack he had been carrying.
"Hi~ heart ! Let me tell you about this s~uuuuuper cool thing here!"
Khalid felt like he could already die, but it was now his acting skills would really have to be something, considering he was pretending to be a pinup girl. He had been helping Lance prepare the trinkets they needed today as well, so he had been busy for quite some time up until now.
"What I hold here is the proof of membership~! This nifty little amulet has a lot of uses, but mainly, it helps identifying whether you're on duty or not~!" He brought the amulet close to his mouth before continuing. "Merely speak into it 'Active' when you're on duty, and 'Inactive' when you're not~! If you're Active, the medallion will light up and shine softly whenever we get an assignment, upon which you return to base to find out what to do, and if you're Inactive, it will remain dark and dull like it is now! Also..."
Khalid lightly chucked the medallion to the apprentice craftman, who caught it in panic, before rummaging through the sack again. "If you join us, you also get this cool cloak!"
Holding up a white cloak with a black embroidered emblem resembling characters from some sort of alphabet near the shoulder, Khalid felt proud of his own work, before clipping the the cloak on around his shoulders, modeling how it looked while it was on. "Other than these two items, you're allowed to wear whatever you wish to wear in our agency! Oh, and if you don't fancy white..."
Khalid unclasped the cloak and flipped it around inside out, where the lining had a different color altogether, before putting it back on. "You can have it in black as well, with our cool emblem in red instead!"
As Khalid got some exclaims of approval from the crowd, he turned around to Lance, letting out a effeminate giggle and winking to Lance, to give the word back to him.
Cringing slightly at Khalid's attitude, how much acting it might've been, still made Lance wonder if it was just some sort of revenge. No matter, the thought, as he spoke up again. "What we want is not necessarily that you join us! What we just want is that you consider us, either if you want employment, or if you have some work that need to be done! So please, take a pamphlet, peruse it, and do come visit us if you ever feel like joining or you have a job request! We handle almost any request, and if you are too embarassed about what you need done, you can even send in a request anonymously!"
There was a moment of silence, before someone spoke up. "So...what's this posse of yours called?
Lance froze for a second. He didn't really have a name yet, so he'd have to adlib one...what was something that would be the first thing to strike you if one of their members would be walking down the street? He looked over at Khalid, then at the items they had been showcasing, before speaking up. "We'll be called...Cloak!"
Satisfied for the moment, some people from the crowd came forward to take a pamphlet, before leaving Khalid and Lance alone. Lance slumped down as the crowd dispersed. "Aah~...that could've gone worse."
"...excuse me..."
The apprentice craftsman was once again talking to him. "Hm?"
"Actually, I'm not getting enough work through my Master, so I was thinking joining you might help me with my apprenticeship, if I could start getting some practice..."
His face shining up, Lance placed his hands on the young man's shoulders. "Of course, friend! Who knows if we might get some requests that concerns your particular profession! Khalid! Help this man with his initation!"
"Initiation?"
"Don't worry..." Khalid said, now in his normal voice, "It's harmless. We just need to attune you to your amulet, as well as picking out a cloak for you. Come along, I'll help you..."
The apprentice, now looking terrified and confused as Khalid was speaking like a man again, wanted to pull out, but it was already much too late as he was now getting wisked off by the dark skinned enchanter.
Lance leaned back and now just waited. Someone would have to pass by eventually, and at that point he'd try to snatch up some proper expedition members.

(Quoting the people who joined the Guard)xxxxx"Well maybe I'm weak... xxxxxxxand maybe I really am useless..." "But I will still fight on just the same!" xxxxx "Maybe one day I will no longer be invisible..."
Mihira blushed and turned her head away from Regulus. "R-right.. this way..." She began walking away from the Guard stand, but turned around again. "All new Guard recruits, if you'd like a tour of the barracks, come this way...!" She smiled politely and began walking again. She noticed that Zeiss was also coming, even though he didn't need to, but didn't say anything. The testosterone was high as it was. __________ A wide grin appeared. "Good."
Two two departed quickly and arrived at the barracks. Vaida motioned Wallace into the open training floor as she waltzed over to her office. When she came out, the spear on her back and her sword were not on her. She then sashayed over to weapon racks and pulled down two wooden poles. When she was close to Wallace, she tossed one of the poles to him. "It'll be harder for me to kill you, this way."
She examined the pole, gave a few thrusts, and faced Wallace in a battle ready pose. "Whenever you're ready, teapot!""This way!" echoed Mihira's voice. "Through here, is where we train. We also have a sparring ground outside that you can see just over-" As Mihira entered the room and turned her head to look ahead of her, she was surprised to see the commander and some man with sparring weapons. "O-oh... Commander Vaida...""Ah, an audience!" Vaida smirked. "All the better."

Blaise followed Mihira on the tour of the barracks. She looked around as she felt some what at home there, which is good as she had not felt that way in a while. Blaise was hoping there would be something to eat eventually when they reach mess hall on the tour. She took interest in the the locations where Mihira lead the group and she saw the Commander sparing with Wallace. 'Looks like someone I shouldn't tick off...' Blaise thought to her self. When Mihira greeted Commander Vaida, Blaise was surprised. "That's the Commander...?!"

 Regulus
Regulus dropped down form his horse when they got to the barracks and tied the horse to a pole. He then followed as close behind Mihira as he could and as a result almost ran into her when she stopped in the training room. "That is the commander of the guard? Hmm..." He then scratched his chin in thought. ~Melius est habere firmum semper patiatur EX pars malorum quam timens semper eventu~
Wallace
Wallace caught the wooden spear in his right hand. "Gwahahaha! You couldn't kill me even if you had one of the eight legendary weapons! I'll make it fair and take off my armor!" He then proceeded to take off every bit of armor he was wearing. After a couple of minutes He was clad in his black tunic and hose, his black leather boots and gloves. His armor and weapons were in a neat pile in the corner. "Now we shall fight viper lady! Prepare yourself to be defeated!" He twirled the wooden practice lance with one hand before dropping in a crouch with both hands on the lance, left leading.

"Phah! Don't play with reasoning, lummox, you're liable to hurt yourself. You just don't want to be hampered down by limited movement and speed." Vaida rolled her eyes and then shrugged. "Well, whatever, it's not like armor is essential to wear when using these weapons."
As Wallace took off his armor, Vaida proceeded to remove hers as well. She had been wearing it in town merely for appearance purposes. Army commanders had to always appear ready and able. Once the breastplate was off, Vaida swung the cloak over her shoulders and placed her belongings not far from Wallace's. She then returned to her side and faced the man once more, watching him show off with a twirl of his spear. She scoffed at him. "Prepare yourself for a wake up call."
Now, it had been a while since the two had fought, and Wallace hadn't gotten any younger. Vaida had to see if he retained even the slightest ability to fight and wasn't just all talk. She would settle for half ability, half talk like she remembered him to be. Thus, her approach was basic and meant to be enticing towards her opponent. While the man still crouched, Vaida darted forward and thrust at Wallace's right leg.

Wallace
Wallace knew he wasn't as young as he used to be and that he hadn't been able to fight very often except for the Siege when he had first appeared in Learania. He knew he had to finish the match quickly if he was to win, and to do that he had to use every advantage he had over Vaida and draw on all of his years of training because it seemed that she hadn't aged since the last he'd seen her.
As Vaida charged, stabbing at Wallace's right leg, he ran forward as well. He pushed the point of her spear off track with the butt end of his and jumped to the side and out of her range. It helped that he was much faster and more agile without his armor. He then thrust his spear at her center of mass using his superior reach and, hopefully, strength to keep her from closing again.
