X despised the fact that her weapon had all but turned to ash within her grasp. Wonderful; there was no medic kit either to benefit her if these pendants just suddenly decided to doom all present. The implications of harm coming to the female beta suddenly began to clear her mind of worry. It was apparent that his game had an ulterior motive to simply testing out the command capabilities of necklaces.

This Dr. H wanted to see them all die. In X's mind- it would be best, then, to die doing what she enjoyed. What a delight that she had picked up a red pendant....

Her invisible grin lined her face maliciously. There were many other playing around with their subjects, but X decided to try out something a bit more tasteful. The words vented in a loud and excited muffle.

"To the one holding my counterpart pendant.... I command you to strangle yourself. show me your worth..."

She waited to see which figure would heed her command.

Delta One stood and waited, and watched, as quickly people were beginning to pair up, their 'masters' commanding them, and the 'dogs' doing as they were told.
She even heard one barking. Oh...Dear...God. Her eyes widened, the pain in her head flared. What had she gotten herself into??
At least it looked like Eta Seven and Delta Nine got decent partners. That was good, right? <********. I want a ******** red pendant! she thought to herself. Some a*****e is going to get me killed, I just know it!
Suddenly, one voice, rang out above all others. She felt she would hear that voice from anywhere in the world right now, and it was telling her to..to..to strangle herself!? WHAT THE FLAMING FUC----
She whirled on her foot, her eyes locking on those of the one holding her pendants counterpart. With a snarl, she launched herself at her, arms outstretched. "I'll do some strangling all right! I'll strangle you, you b***h!" She wanted to see Delta Ones worth? Then she could see and feel Delta Ones own hands as they clamped down around her throat! In the back of her enraged, pain filled mind, she thought, This isn't right...aren't you supposed to do what they tell you to? This isn't right....
Of course, she was on opposite sides of the room of the one who 'commanded' her, so it would take some time to reach her first...

"Mugged? Seriously? That's... unfortunate. I don't think I've had it half as bad as you have. I lost a friend..." she shrugged, "He went to the Dark Cove. I don't know if he's alive or not, honestly."

Delta 9 watched as Gamma 12 lifted her hand and made a fist. "Did you watch your squad members fight one another for a pendant?" She shook her head. "I don't want to have to kill anyone," she said in a reedy voice. Maybe this way she wouldn't have to kill anyone.

Maybe this way Gamma 12 would have to do all the killing.

"I hope they don't make me hurt you," Delta 9 whispered honestly before adding, "Touch your toes."

This really sucked.

xxxxxGamma Five listened to the voice on the intercom like a student listening to a teacher. She looked down at her own pendant, to realize it was glowing a bright blue. Did this mean she would have to do things someone said? She felt really limp and ... vulnerable, but so far she hadn't done anything she hadn't wanted to. At least ... not yet? Perhaps her controller (she rather hated that word) hadn't shown up?

xxxxxPerhaps for the better ... or for the worse, maybe she had no controller. Maybe she was special? Probably not.

xxxxxFive looked around at some of the strange actions people were performing. Luckily it seemed most of them remained docile, doing simple things like walking and waving. No one had an uncomfortable or pained looked on their face, so Five assumed it wasn't harmful to perform these tasks. Still, the idea of controlling someone ... it just felt wrong.

xxxxxMeanwhile, Five found a little spot on the wall of the gym to sit. No need to get in the way if her partner hadn't yet commanded anything, right?

"Sure. I trust you to give reasonable orders, anyway," Thyme told Fedora, his voice light with an undercurrent of easy laughter, but just then, he heard another Command pendant holder instruct her partner to strangle herself. Eyes widening in horror, he turned his head to seek out said partner. When Delta One opted to try to strangle her partner instead, he suppressed any laughter but relaxed just slightly into amusement -- wary amusement, mind, but still amusement all the same. So it seemed that these pendants weren't fail-safe after all. That would explain the need for a test.

Wait, gotta backtrack. The Theta couldn't quite grasp what this Pied Piper business was alluding to -- he got the vague idea that he'd have to wear a technicolor dreamcoat, but that can't be it -- but he did notice that his pendant around his neck looked a lot like the others that had been offered earlier. If all the other pendants out there also had its own command pendant counterpart and if the command pendant technology could be perfected by the end of the week, then the surviving thirteen could well become the puppets of whoever ran this operation. Theta Nine frowned, not liking this train of thought at all. But there were a lot of ifs. Or could the doctor be lulling them into a false sense of security by giving them defective pendants and keeping fully functional pendants for himself, or perhaps... argh.

Mind abuzz with conspiracy theories galore, Thyme inched closer to Fedora. He remained vigilant, eyeing the others for any sign of attack. "You know what does worry me? This whole command-pendant thing in general." He shrugged it off. Enough with the pessimistic thoughts already, Thyme! "While we're here, you might as well try out your pendant," he said to his partner. Authority issues aside, he was curious. He really was all about the learning, no joke. "Do you think it can make a...." He wanted to say telepathic connection (what he lacked in fairy tale experience, he made up for in science fiction), but wasn't quite willing to go that far. "Wonder what the range on these things is."

Bee listened to the instructions carefully and then she did the math in the room. 20 people in the room, 10 teams...and 5 pendants per team that would escape. There was a chance she could get herself, Before and Bix out of her alive..but only if she convinced Thor first. Turning to him she spoke quickly but quietly so that they wouldn't be over heard "Look Thor...we both want to get out of here and we can...if we work together - theres enough pendants here for two teams to walk out and we'd do better to stick together then to go it alone"

At the order to watch her partner's back, Eta VII felt a tingle, but not as strong as before. Finding no compulsion to literally watch Theta III's back, she concluded that the devices weren't literal; although she also wasn't feeling a compulsion to protect the other, so maybe something had gone wrong? Either way.

When Delta I launched herself at who could only be assumed as her partner, Eta VII took a step towards them. "Delta I is my friend, and it looks like her controller is trying to hurt her... maybe we should help." So far they seemed to be doing all right though?

Then another announcement. It would take five of the blue pendants to escape, that put Eta VII at risk from anyone else. She turned to glance back at Theta III. "Uh oh... looks like we're going to have to take other people's pendants to get out of here."
