"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

While it seemed that Icarus was calm when speaking of his sister‘s wounds, Andrew was able to see the absolute anger burning from his eyes. Such a look was something that Andrew hoped would never be directed on him. Nevertheless, his personal panic was beginning to recede as he listened to the sylphs assuring words. He seemed to know what he was talking about, and his tone held confidence when he spoke of the surgery being a simple task. Taking a breath, Andrew even managed a chuckle at the mention of Ix killing Rina for her foolish actions; an idea that he had begin to find pleasant…or perhaps she could be locked up somewhere safe, forever

Returning to the present reality, he nodded to the prince and stood when directed to; there was no reason to question his knowledge and timing. Following behind the sylph, they approached the hallway. A single glance toward Ix showed that his pure anger was being pushed back to reveal the expression Andrew was much more familiar with: diplomatic politeness. He gave a simple nod when he was introduced as the patient’s concerned boyfriend, but it seemed the nurse would not be so easily persuaded, forcing the student to consider what might be said on his behalf that would allow him access to the room. Before he’d opened his mouth, however, Icarus spoke again. This time, the nurse seemed to be given a proper answer, and they were allowed to continue walking.

Andrew nodded when Icarus stated firmly once more that he was sure his sister was alright. Although his words sounded lighter now, there was stiff feeling in his posture, something he felt he could easily relate to at the moment. Sparing another glance, he looked to the man beside him. His shirt held stains of blood he was sure were Rina’s. Sighing, he knew that no matter how stupid his girlfriend acted, both himself and her brother would care for her. Perhaps eventually she would gain a lesson in sensibility from her elder sibling. “Yes, I‘m sure you‘re right. She‘ll be fine.” Unable to catch much of the final exchange between the prince and nurse, he waited as patiently as possible for Icarus to step into the room. Watching silently as the sylphs’ gazes met, he took a step inside. His own surprise seemed dwarfed by Rina’s when her brother sat down with only a sigh.

Taking another step, he bumped his shoe against a plastic chair, which caught the princess' attention. After a moment of maneuvering away and around the item, he crossed the few steps left to the bedside. Her question caused his head to slowly shake once; he didn‘t know whether or not Icarus had mentioned his calling Andrew, but he was here now, and ready to speak. "I'm here because you managed to get here. You see, I was told that my girlfriend had been shot in a fight." he pointed out simply. There was a pause before he spoke again. How do you tell someone how frustrated you are with them, while also expressing how glad you are that they‘re alive? "Rina, you worried me terribly. You're an awfully wonderful, foolish woman." he continued with deliberate calmness, one of his hands moving carefully to avoid any IV tubes to meet the closest of Rina’s hands. While his fingers moved to interlace with hers, he leaned down to kiss her forehead, the worry leaving his eyes momentarily as he confirmed she was alright. Nothing would keep her from recovering perfectly, he was sure. "And now, I hope you know that I won't let you leave my sight for a very long time."

User Image And I Don't Want The World To See Me,

Her brow furrowed at the word foolish, but she didn't argue. "It was a stupid kid with a gun. I didn't expect some rebellious kids to have guns." she explained, pursing her lips. The princess glanced beyond Andrew, sparing her brother a glance; he was hunched slightly in the chair, his lips moving quickly and his eyes on something in his hand. Turning her full attention back to Andrew, the Sylph taking his hand gently. She nearly blushed as he kissed her forehead, but managed to restrain herself. "They were harassing some girl." she paused a moment, as if thinking about what to say before speaking. "I know I shouldn't have gotten involved, but I couldn't just leave her like that..." she sighed, hand tightening around his quickly before releasing. "I really don't need a babysitter."

"I beg to differ." the prince's voice broke through their conversation, a shuffle of fabric as he stood. He moved to the bed side, easily bending around Andrew to drop a strange necklace around Rina's neck. The strange pendent began to glow, words in Latin scrolling across the large stone that glowed a soft gold. "I will go see about getting you discharged." he turned, leaving the two alone in the hospital room. The nurse outside didn't seem to pleased by this decision, but the prince insisted on speaking with the doctor. While their words were indistinguishable, it was quite obvious that the two men were arguing.

Using her free hand to touch the pendant now hanging around her neck, her expression relaxes slightly. "See? This is Sylphid healing magic. I'll be fine in no time." she reassured the man at her side, her head turning to the door as the argument outside became more heated. "I do feel bad for the doctor, though. Arguing with Ix is silly, especially when they don't seem to know all that much about Sylphs." she shook her head, moving her hand to carefully pinch and remove the tube attached to the needle in her skin. "Speaking of which, they really shouldn't be pumping this sort of thing into my body. It doesn't react the proper way with my blood." she didn't pull it loose, not wanting to cause a mess; it wouldn't kill her in the short time it would take for Icarus to win his argument.

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

Glancing over when she did, he spared a few moments of time to wonder just what Icarus was doing. Whatever it was should probably go uninterrupted, and he shyed away from any questions. Rina continued to speak, forcing a nod from him. It seemed as if she'd acted as she would any day. How could he complain when she'd defended someone? "Alright, I understand. Just, remember that most rebellious kids will have guns." Her next statement was responded to by the prince, and Andrew covered a smile with the hand she'd just released. When he stood to place something around his sister, he did his best to move out the way.

She continued speaking, her explanation working to reassure Andrew. He would leave matters of her recovery and health to another Sylph who would understand much better than a human. In addition, any arguments with the doctor seemed to be easily handled by Icarus, and he felt no urge to interrupt a heating debate. "I agree with you on that. Your brother is someone I would dislike very much to argue with." He turned from the scene, unable to make out more than a word or two, and sat in the nearest chair.

"Really?" why would rebellious kids need guns? That was silly, especially when it was obvious that they didn't really know how to use them. She knew for a fact that sometimes kids did stupid things, but it seemed that some of them did very stupid things. Frowning a bit when Andrew moved away, the princess released the pendent and allowed it to settle back against her chest. It grew bright in contact with her torso, but she ignored it; healing spells were far from unfamiliar to her. "That's because he's been trained to tear opposing viewpoints to shreds." she pointed out, not mentioning the fact that she had received the exact same training. "There's also the possibility that he'll set you on fire if you push him far enough."

"I haven't set anyone on fire." the prince re-entered the room with Rina's skirt and a shirt strongly resembling scrubs in his hand. Tossing them across the room, they landed none too gently over Rina's face, undergarments spilling out from the bundle that she hid quickly beneath the thin hospital sheet. The nurse, looking fairly pale at this point, followed in behind him to check Rina's vitals one last time before beginning to unhook her. "This lovely nurse will be removing the dangerous object they decided to shove into your hand. Then you're going to get dressed, and the doctor will check you one last time." he turned his back to close the door, but did not leave the room. With little encouragement, the princess slipped her bottoms on beneath the sheet; other than the hospital gown, she had been wearing nothing. "Sadly, they had to cut your shirt off. You won't be getting that back." the prince shrugged, as if he wasn't all that sorry. The door opened behind him, a slightly nervous young man in a white coat entering the room. It seemed that Icarus had instilled fear in the hospital staff, though his very casual expression gave nothing away. The doctor moved across the room, asking in quiet tones for permission to check Rina's side.

"I don't bite." the princess pointed out, looking almost amused. The doctor let out a small, nervous laugh and nodded. With her skirt in place, the princess had no issue with the doctor lifting the flimsy hospital gown up over the bandages, and she used her now IV-free hand to hold it in place for him. The doctor seemed to calm down slightly, focusing on his job instead of the frightening young man watching him like a hawk. He prodded the wound lightly, looking for a reaction from the Sylph. She flinched appropriately, but no blood came gushing out of the wound. "You should be fine. Just don't move around too much. the doctor stood, and Rina lowered the gown. "And absolutely no fights." he finished, moving to accept a clipboard a nurse was handing him. He signed it, offering it to Icarus who signed it as well. "If it starts bleeding again, bring her back here. I'll write a prescription for pain medication." he took back the clipboard, looking a bit confused at the prince's heading shaking in a negative signal, but moved off anyway. The princess glanced over at Andrew, raising an eyebrow. "See? I'm perfectly fine."

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

A single nod was his response. He'd met far too many kids who felt the need to carry an automatic weapon. How they recieved them was anyone's guess, but it was clear that most knew little of how they operated. His gaze was distracted for several seconds when the pendent began to glow, something he was surprised to see. His attention was brought back when Rina spoke up, explaining how her brother was able to hold such a strong stance and tear apart an opposing argument. It made sense, considering they were a royal family. Although being set on fire did seem to be an extreme...

Hearing the prince return, Andrew smiled. His attack on Rina with her garments caused a small laugh, but he turned away politely when she stuffed her under-garments away and dressed. It seemed that Icarus gained what he wanted, and installed a lesson in the staff's minds. They worked quietly, and the doctor seemed just as shy as the nurse when around Ix. He hated to see the princess in pain, but remained quiet when the doctor prodded the wound. His prior amusement returned as she was forbidden from fighting, something he would personally see to.

While 'perfectly fine' was not what he would use to descrive the sylph, he was happy enough to see her standing and acting as stubborn as she would during any day. "Humph. Perhaps I'll be convinced of that in a few days. For now though, I'd like to get you home."

Ducking quickly into the small bathroom attached to the room, the princess strips off the hospital gown completely, instead dressing in her bra and newly obtained scrub shirt. "Don't you have school?" the princess pointed out, walking back into the room. Normally, she might have put her hands on her hips, but she knew better than to needlessly touch her wound. The pendent her brother had placed around her neck hung in the small 'V' of the shirt, continuing to glow a gentle gold. The princess knew better than to flat out argue, instead using more thought out arguments.

Looking across the room with a slight look of confusion, the prince's expression, which had been moving steadily back towards polite diplomacy, turned into a glare once more. "He should have been planning on coming within the next few days anyway." the prince spoke slowly, casting a glance at Andrew. "You did tell him about the wedding, didn't you?" his expression darkened at the innocent expression on his sister's face, and he felt the strong urge to bang his head against the wall. "I swear, were you not my sister, I would have to take back my comment about not setting people on fire." he sighed heavily, looking almost drained for a moment, before he turned to accept the prescription from the doctor. "Andrew is right. Let us get you home."

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

Turning back to face Rina, he shook his head, knowing that with finals over, he was free from his classes. "No. My classes ended three days ago. You have wonderful timing." He smiled at the end, acknowledging her incindent with the lightest tone yet. As a result of classes ending, he had been intending to make his wait out to this area within a week or two. Of course, that would have given him more time for packing, but that could be delt with later. Before mentioning either of these things, however, the prince spoke up, seemingly with the same idea. His brow furrowed in confusion at the mention of a wedding, then raised when his girlfriend continued to hold her sweet face of innocence. "Wedding?" Well, this was quickly leading to a sort of secret. Running a hand through his hair, he managed a smirk for Icarus' comment of fire, but kept silent long enough for the sylphs to leave the room. They would speak in their own terms; after all, Andrew had learned a long while ago just how stubborn Rina could be, and how well she was able to dance around a subject.

Frowning slightly as her one hope was ruined, the princess stood with one hand on her good hip. She mumbled something inaudible, casting a swift glare at her brother before turning her attention back to Andrew. "It's nothing you'd be interested in." she insisted, waving a hand in dismissal. She didn't want to think about the wedding, knowing full well what it meant. Instead, she glanced out into the hallway, as if trying to time her escape. "Anyway, let's get out of this dreary place." she spun on her heel, attempting to escape the room and the explanation she didn't want to give.

Catching her shirt easily by the collar, the prince thwarted the girl's escape. A look of mild surprise crossed his features at the question in Andrew's voice. "Yes. A royal wedding." the prince clarified, releasing his sister's shirt when she gave up on escaping. "Our elder brother is getting married, which is naturally a very big event in our world." he meant within their species, but he didn't quite like the way that made it sound. "Rina will be returning to the capital for the first time in many years." he added, ignoring the obviously unhappy look growing on the young woman's face. "Luckily enough, the day marking the end of Rina's first century coincides with the festivities. So she'll be able to have a lovely birthday with her family." he smiled pleasantly, as if genuinely enjoying his sister's displeasure. "Naturally, she will require a counterpart to attend the event with." there would be plenty of dancing involved, and many Sylphs would have found partners by this point. "I had assumed she would be asking you."

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

Watching with a great deal of amusement as Rina was detained by Icarus, he frowned at her assumption of his being disinterested. He listened with a small nod to the prince's explanation, along with a few glances spared in Rina's direction. Her expressions shared the obvious fact of her unhappiness with the situation, and Andrew silently thanked her brother for speaking up so freely with this information. It did seem that she would have avoided this certain topic for as long she could; which, by his guess, would be a very long amount of time.

"I see." Now that he had the knowledge of whose wedding this was, along with the fact that it fell on the date of his girlfriend's birth, he was much more sympathetic to the princess' concern. She never seemed pleased with how her home had been changed, and hadn't returned in several years, just as Ix mentioned. When the subject of a counterpart came up, Andrew turned to face Rina directly. Admittedly, he was hurt by the notion that she didn't ask him along, but more so by the idea of her being with someone else. Speaking up, he made the best appeal to her that he could think of: guilt. "That sounds like a tremendous celebration, one that would be fun for you, Rina." he paused, as if realizing something, and met her eyes with ones of disappointment. "-but you don't want me there?"

Remaining silent as her brother spoke, the princess crossed her arms carefully. Her brother just had to go and ruin her entire scheme. She turned her head to look at Andrew, her unhappy expression shattering immediately at the expression on her boyfriend's face. "Andrew, I.... that's not it..." she stopped, guilt immediately overcoming her displeasure. "I don't want to go back... I was only going to go for the ceremony and then sneak off...." she tried to explain, desperate to get the disappointment off Andrew's face. A knot began to form in her stomach, and she looked to the ground, unable to meet Andrew's gaze. "It won't be fun... there'll be guards and unnecessarily fancy dresses and uncomfortable shoes and... her." she didn't specify who 'her' was, but it was fairly obvious who she was referring to. Her stepmother was the reason the Sylph had refused to return home in nearly twenty years, and she had had very little intention of meeting her. She opened her mouth to object again until a thought struck her, and she turned an angry glare on Icarus. "You intend to use him." she accused, a slight snarl in her voice. The last thing she had wanted for Andrew was for him to be used by the royal family; no matter how much she loved her brothers, and generally respected her father, she knew better than to think they were above manipulating her.

Looking pleased with himself, his expression straightened when his sister redirected her negative feelings in his direction. He shrugged, his own innocent expression appearing on his features. "I would deny that, but I'm afraid it's true." he cast Andrew an apologetic smile, hands moving to rest casually in his pockets. "My brother and I knew she would try to weasel out of it, so I was to make sure you knew." he knew how it would play out when Andrew discovered the truth, especially if Rina had refused to tell him. "Our brother would very much like to meet you. I'm afraid the same goes for our father." normally that wasn't a bad thing, but it left very little room for choice; refusing an invitation from the Basileus was not a very good idea. "Don't be too upset, Andrew. The capital is quite friendly towards humans, though the Basileus is a little sceptical about the two of you. Though I am sure, should he see you together" he emphasized the word, casting his sister a hard glance, "he will be most convinced there is nothing to be sceptical of." he smiled, opening the room's door. "Now, you two talk this out. I'm going to go see about getting a cab." slipping out the door, he leaves the young couple alone in the room.

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

Crossing his arms as Rina spoke, he listened to her reasoning. She was never the sort of girl to be stuck in a 'fancy dress' all day with 'uncomfortable shoes'; that he knew. He'd also become very aware of her stepmother's prescence being an issue, but it would silly for such a thing to continue much longer. This was, after all, her brother's wedding, and it should be a host to happy people and smiling faces, including the princess. Yet, his attempt at comforting her was pushed back by a sudden change in her expression that beheld anger. As glad as he was that it wasn't to be directed at him, he still wasn't happy to see it.

Wait. Use?

To keep from making a face at the term, he focused on listening to Icarus speak. His frank answers provided plenty for Andrew to learn from, and he allowed a small shrug to answer the request of not being upset. He was beginning to grow accustomed to the way this family thought and acted. Besides, what good would pouting do when it would cause more problems? Sighing, he allowed the older sylph to leave for a cab without question. It would be best to speak with Rina at the moment anyways.

"Nice to know that I can count as one of your weaknesses." he teased, intending to lighten her mood before having to speak of such a serious subject. Meeting his girlfriend's father and eldest brother was possibly the most intimidating thing to happen in Andrew's life; not to mention that they were the current and furture ruler of Sylphs. He flashed a smile to set aside his worries of the moment, and casually wrapped an arm around Rina's shoulders as he continued, making a motion to indicate her wound. "You know, you'll have a great story to tell."

User Image And I Don't Want The World To See Me,

Keeping a careful eye on Andrew's expression, the princess chose to tread with a bit of caution until she knew how he would react to the news. Would he be angry to be caught up in the games of a royal family? To be viewed as a sort of pawn so that people could manipulate her into doing things? She glanced at the door as Icarus slipped away, knowing that he didn't want to get in the way of the two sorting things out. Turning her full attention on Andrew, she was about to apologize when he spoke. She responded with a vaguely amused smile, shaking her head. "Ah, weaknesses. I suppose this is what normal people feel like." she teased back, tugging the hem of her new scrub shirt down as far as it would go. "I could always claim I never told you and intercept any messengers and escorts he sends?" she offered, a dangerous spark in her eyes.

At the mention of a story, she laughs quietly. "Oh, I have plenty of more interesting stories. This should be long healed by that time." she tapped the pendent around her neck, not objecting whatsoever when he put his arm around her. Quite comfortable against his side, she figured they would simply wait until Icarus returned with news about the cab. "Like that time I had to break one of my teammates out of a South American work camp. That left a scar or two." it took a lot to permanently mar a Sylph, but she had a small collection of faded white scars. "That's far more interesting than stupid kids with guns." she glanced off, as if remembering. "The run in with Somalian pirates should be a good one too."

Deciding it best to stop talking about her dangerous ventures, there was no need to give Andrew a heart attack, she immediately changed the subject. "I suppose it will be hard to hide in my room when there's an entire city to show you." she was hardly going to let Andrew hide away in her room when he would be dragged to such an odd place; he at least needed to see the city. "It's quite safe, so long as you stay away from the edges. And there's a nice air bubble around the city for those less suited to breathing the thinner air." she had told him the capital was a giant floating city, right?

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

Chuckling in response to her own teasing, he simply shook his head. Rina seemed to be in a lighter mood, even if it included a few threats. "No, I don't think that would be the wisest idea." His smile wavered for a few moments when she spoke of her previous times in danger. "Pirates? I-" Though it was the past, he had no urge to imagine such circumstances when he was fully aware of how she'd probably acted during the adventures. Shaking his head, he simply shoved aside the ideas for now. "-Nevermind. I'd prefer to hear these stories another day."

He was relieved to hear her change subjects to the future. Seemingly, he took this as her compliance to go. "True. I couldn't possibly stay inside when I have to keep at bay any sceptism." he sighed, a hand running through his hair out of habit. A look of curiousity dominated his expression as he heard her describe the city. Edges? The world is round; "Is the capital along cliffs?" That would explain the thinner air as well. After another moment of thought, his mind flashed to an image of wings, and the hand previously in his hair dropped to his side. Looking down to see Rina's face, he corrected himself. "Wait. Haven't you said...that the city floats?"

Laughing quietly as he pushed off her more interesting stories for another time, she supposed she could understand why; the wound in her side would make them all the more real. She restrained the urge to point out that one would definitely expect the people involved to have guns, so she would have been far more prepared for the situation. She even managed not to make a joke about how the pirates did not wear cool hats or have parrots. Instead, she allowed the subject to be dropped in an attempt to preserve some of his sanity. After all, there were plenty of occurrences and adventures in her life that were better left unsaid. Allowing the subject to drift in the direction she had indicated, she smiled faintly and began to move out of the room; the hospital was starting to make her very uncomfortable.

Nodding in agreement to his statement, she stopped just outside the room and glanced in either direction. It was then that she remembered that she had no idea how to get out of the hospital. Choosing to turn left, she continued down the hall with Andrew in tow. She smirked and shook her head at the question about cliffs, letting the answer come to him naturally. Hearing his hand drop, she looked up to see if the conclusion had hit him. "Just below 40,000 feet, yes." she answered, smiling innocently.
