(( Minipet profile: Daffu )) Gabrian had indeed noticed that Ren had been avoiding him; after all, one day of finding the gryphon asleep was normal, but several? Yeah, something decidedly fishy was going on, and the demon was more than certain it had to do with the barely visible wound mark he carried on his arm. Now that he was up on the deck, he was surprised to spot his friend there (He'd figured Ren would be hiding somewhere on the lower deck, actually, as far away from the water as possible). It was only the fact he was still mid song when he spotted the other boil that kept him from moving over towards him. However, when the song was finished and Professor Blue had finished praising them (in his own way - after all, the nix read that smile as the equivalent of 'good job'), he made his way towards the gryphon. "So," he drawled out softly, his arms still holding the garbage he'd found, "How long, exactly, do you plan to keep avoiding me, Ren?" a pause as he looked towards his right, having found and empty wooden box, where he placed all the garbage, "It's getting quite lonely here," he told the other boil, "I miss my puppy," he let out a sigh, wishing he'd brought his skellyphone with him, though he wasn't entirely sure it'd have had a signal anyhow, "And the rabbit too, actually. And Jack knows I miss you too, because you've not said a word to me since we left and we're on the same boat." He didn't look mad, just... perhaps slightly tired. His head turned so he could look at the other students up on the deck too; in his opinion they had all done a good job together. Granted, singing was not the same as fighting off an elf-in-a-mecha-suit, but then again... baby steps and all that, right? "Anyone have any idea how much longer it's going to take to get to... wherever it is that we're going?" he seemed to pause for a moment, looking out at sea, "Does anyone even know where we're going yet?"

Well, Ren thought, eying Professor Blue with a wary expression. At least I got a silver seed out of trying to make music.
His admittedly pathetic attempt at tapping out a beat on a plastic pail had not gone unnoticed by his teacher, which Ren supposed was a good thing (he wasn't quite sure). Professor Blue had offered him a hand to help him up, but Ren had politely declined with a shake of his head, not willing to open his mouth for fear of puking all over his teacher (which would have been a very bad thing, he decided). Sitting with his knees drawn up, bucket held against his chest, Ren wrapped his arms around his legs, feeling miserable. He was missing LW, Alessa, and Jove terribly, his chest aching slightly when he thought of them. He had not gone this long without seeing them; ten days felt like aeons.
"So. How long, exactly, do you plan to keep avoiding me, Ren?"
Oops. Flinching slightly, Ren peered slowly upwards. Sure enough, Gabrian was standing in front of him, arms filled with a menagerie of old tools, dusty cloths, and other miscellaneous brickabrack. The nix stood there for a moment, looking down at him, before moving to deposit the garbage in a nearby box.
"Your puppy?" Ren mumbled peevishly, his face turning red. His eyes moved to the long scrape down Gabrian's arm - it had healed quite nicely, and was hardly visible anymore, but Ren turned his head away anyway, averting his eyes. He drew circles on the wood of the deck with a finger, quiet for a moment before he murmured softly "I miss them too. A pause. "....andmaybeyoutoo."
This last part was said so quietly and so fast that it was barely audible, and Ren decided he'd deny it if Gabrian asked. He let out a small sigh, looking away towards the rest of the students. "Anyone?" he asked sounding a little bit hopeful. "I'd rather like to know where we're going too." And how much longer I have to be on this ship.

exclaim The sleuth was rather pleased, the trip wasn't going perfectly smooth, but what ever did? The point was all the students were alive, the captain had them (hopefully) on course and she hadn't seen anything criminal in days. Except of course the state of the ship's rigging, no wonder there was a chance of some poor student tripping or getting tangled up!
She clapped her hands and called the 'crew' to order with a smile. Oh she was excited, she was going to get to show them all the importance of a good knot!
"Gather round children! Look the ship seems to have a bit of spare rope from the rigging. I was you each to find a suitable piece...don't cut anything down from anywhere though...you might cause a sail to come loose or worse.
We're going to be practicing tying some knots!"
With that the sleuth demonstrated the common tie, the figure eight stopper, and the complex angler's loop.
"Alright now you try! I'll even give some prizes out to the best knots!"
((Roll 1 D20 1 - You cut rope from somewhere...you better hope that wasn't important. 2-8 - You managed one simple knot and boy was that tough. 8-14 - You managed a simple and medium difficulty knot with minor issues. 14-19 - You managed all three knots, but ended up a bit tangled yourself. 20 - You managed to tie all three knots perfectly! Bravo Sailor!
Game ends after 5 rolls or tomorrow morning (7:00am PST 3/14)))

"Yes, my Puppy," he blinked down at Ren, looking slightly confused, "She's my ghoulfriend, and I think Puppy is a rather fitting nickname. She seems to enjoy it, if her blushing is any indication," a pause followed, "What, why, you want to share? Don't you have a bunny rabbit? I'm willing to bet the rabbit is more than enough. I believe she's quite the handful; should keep you occupied," okay, now he was just teasing him, but in his defense, he was trying to get the gryphon to look anything but sullen and... emo. Because, quite frankly, he was tired of sleeping alone; he'd grown quite used to sleeping in a nice, happy, warm cocoon of a pile back at home when he wasn't inside his water tank. Here on this boat, Gabrian had no warm happy snuggle pile and no damned fish tank.
The demon felt this was simply not fair, and thus, it should be instantly remedied. Or... at least taken care of as soon as possible, "Honestly though, Ren, why are you even avoiding me," he held up his arm to display the healed up wound, "Because of this? It was merely a scratch. It was much more embarrassing for me, than it was for you so... cheer on up and-" he was cut off when Sleuth decided that it was er... time to practice knot tying!
... what an odd pastime.
However, let it not be said that he would not give it a try! So thus, try he did; he sat down near Ren and worked away on a piece of rope. Except apparently, this 'tying the knot' routine was not something he excelled at. He only just barely managed a single knot on his piece of rope, and it quite clear that he only just barely managed it. He offered the Sleuth a silent apology as he set his rope down, "Clearly this was not my calling."

GM EVENT POST: DAY 5The trick or treater had suddenly made a reappearance, much to Blue's dismay. She was doing something up on the deck with his students and other than it involving the students it seemed absolutely boring. Instead of sitting around and watching, the demon wandered off below the deck. Under the deck of the ship, Blue found himself tinkering with things that the demon probably had no idea what he was tinkering with and suddenly his hand hit a hatch. An emergency release hatch.
Up on the deck there was an unfortunate student that happened to be right by the hatch. Poor Ren soon found himself thrown over the railing of the ship and into the water below. Blue was below deck without a clue, it would be up to the students to save him.

((.... oh boy >A> ....))
Gabrian wasn't entirely sure what happened. One moment he'd been pondering getting up to go fetch his guitar (after all, even if he couldn't tie a knot... that didn't mean he couldn't offer the others some music while they tried), and the next he felt the ship move oddly. Amusingly enough, the fact he'd been getting up allowed him to stumble and latch around one of the ship's poles, which allowed him to retain his balance.
Unfortunately, Ren was not as lucky and the demon watched his friend topple overboard for the second time since they boarded the ship. His hand shot out in an attempt to grasp the gryphon around his wrist before he fell, but he was just millimeters away. Despite the fact he felt his fingers brush skin, his hand simply closed around air, "REN!" he couldn't even rush forth and dive overboard again because... well, when he tried, Gabrian noticed that his right foot was, ironically enough, tangled around a mass of ropes he'd stepped in, and he couldn't yank it free, "Oh, Jack damnit! He can't swim! Someone help him!"

[[ REN YOU ARE NOT HAVING A VERY GOOD BOAT RIDE, ARE YOU 8( ]]
"I didn't say she wasn't you ghoulfriend," Ren said, somewhat sulkily to Gabrian. "And no," he added testily. "I do not want to share; Alessa is good enough for me, thank you very much. But need I remind you that LW was, in fact, my best friend before the two of you even knew each other?"
The words were hardly said in anger or irritation; in fact, Ren sounded almost amused by them, or he would have, if he did not feel so seasick at the current moment. He blinked up at the nix, then at the arm that was thrust into his face. Gabrian was right, the wound was barely visible. His cheeks colored in embarrassment. After a moment, he mumbled "...fine. I'm sorry. I won't avoid you any more." And I can quit sleeping alone, because man that sucked. Truth be told, Ren missed the snuggle sleep piles he had with his friends, and since Gabrian was his best friend and the only one on board whom he was close to, he would be able to make do with just the two of them.
Sleuth seemed to be wanting them to tie knots, but Ren did not really have any interest in that sort of thing. Not only that, but he was still clutching the bucket tightly with both hands, as if afraid to let it go. Gabrian, however, sitting beside him, was struggling a bit, but after a while the nix managed to get one knot before shrugging.
"What?" said Ren, bumping his shoulder lightly against the other, looking as Gabrian stood up. "Can't you - "
Something shifted. The boat rocked, an odd tremor running through it. And then, quite suddenly, Ren found himself airborne. What the Jacking hell -
He let out a startled screech, feeling Gabrian's fingers brush against his wrist, and Ren desperately clawed midair for something, anything to latch onto, but there was nothing and within seconds he had plummeted down into the deep, dark ocean.
It was icy - freezing. Ren's wings did not seem to be able to propel him out this time, feeling as heavy as lead from the water pressing down on him. Frantically, he kicked his legs, pushing his arms this way and that in a desperate attempt to reach the surface. His head broke the top, and Ren let out a gasping breath for air just before he went down under again. His heart felt like it was constricted, and he was beginning to panic - panic for real this time. The second time his head burst out of the water he was visibly starting to hyperventilate from fear before he disappeared under the water again.
Someone help me!

(( Rolling for Sleuth's minigame first ))
Mac stared at the silver pumpkin seed he was given; it was so tempting to throw it away. So very tempting. But, on the other hand, it was free money. Free money was great money! The seed ended up in a hidden pocket of his jacket after touching it as little as he physically could. Demon germs. Ugh. Soon, Gabrian was asking a question, but it wasn't until Ren added to it did he really answer; in the mean time, he was zoning out, staring off into the distance as though trying to see.
"No idea, man." Mac sighed, shaking his head a little. "Must be someplace important, if they wanted every student." It wasn't long after that did the Sleuth return, having them practice knots. He loved boats, he loved the water...but knots weren't something he'd ever really given a shot before. So, with a deep breath, he did his best.

Actually, he didn't do half bad! It was pretty good for a beginner!
Sadly, Mac didn't have time to pat himself on the back for his accomplishment, as there was an odd noise...and then screaming. Ren had gone overboard?! That poor, sick Gryphon?! For a moment, black eyes stared at where the Monster once was, and then over to where the green Demon stood, apparently trapped and panicked to save his friend.
He started looking around for something, anything, to throw into the water for Ren. Of course, that was when something hit him; Ren couldn't swim. JACKDAMNIT Ren couldn't swim.
"Bloody Mary!" Mac cursed loudly, moving to the edge of the ship and stepping on the rails to launch himself over the edge, not even bothering to take off his hat or jacket. His hat was torn off his head as he submerged, and once he broke the surface moments later he swam towards the poor, flailing Gryphon.
"Relax!" He bellowed, trying to get close enough to the Gryphon without getting beaten by a limb. It didn't occur to him that he was now in the water as well and would likely need rescuing just as much as Ren would, but at least with him in the water, he could help the struggle to keep the Monster's head above water. An arm snaked around Ren's back and he heaved, struggling to keep them both from going under.
"Pretend you're riding a---ow!---bicycle! Kick your legs, stop---OW---JACKDAMNIT STOP FLAILING!" He demanded, sputtering water when he had to.

Rosc had just grabbed a good bit of extra rope from the rigging when Ren was launched overboard. And the reaper who seemed wary of all the demons dove in right after in an attempt to save the gryphon. Really, the incubus could care less about other people, but he wasn't going to left someone drown, either. He just hoped no one expected him to help out others in situations less life-threatening.
Mac was already in the water trying to help Ren. If Rosc joined them, it would probably be more of a hindrance than aid, so he opted for a second course of action. He knotted the end of the rope, spun if over his head a few times and let it fly, watching it land farther from the other boils than he had hoped. His vision wasn't perfect, after all, and it really was no secret that he sucked at throwing things.

Gosh, more ship stuff - but at least this time she wouldn't be singing or asked to make music. She found a piece of rope looped on a pile of spare and seated herself, legs tucked under her bottom as she worked on trying to make one of the knots that Sleuth had demonstrated.
It was hard work though, her fingers were slender and didn't really have the strength to pull very hard on the tough rope, and it was with some visible effort that she eventually managed to make one knot. It was with a sheepish expression that she held her effort aloft, looking around at the other students to see how they fared. It was as she was doing so that she heard Ren cry out and he was pitched into the water - again...

Arachne got quickly to her feet, rushing to the side of the boat, peering down at Ren that was now being aided..or not by the boil who had given her the coat. She saw in a quick flash that Rosciel had thrown poorly with a rope, Gabrian was tangled in rope and that Ren was by now hysterical and in great trouble.
'Jack.' she swore, and in one movement she grabbed the railing, kicked off the deck and dropped into the water a way from the boils. The water was freezing, but she knew that Ren was too scared to grab the rope and that the other boil had his hands full trying to stop him from drowning. She grabbed the trailing end of the rope as it bobbed towards her and carried on swimming, concentrating on cutting through the water and not the fact that her own limbs were already feeling the effect of the cold.
'Hey!' she yelled, pulling the sodden rope up, treading water near Mac and Ren. 'See if you can tie this around him.' she coughed, a wave in her face as she spoke, spitting out water. 'We get it tied, calm him down and they can pull him back.' Arachne moved up to Ren, trying to avoid his flailing limbs, and shot a hand out to grab on of his wrists. 'Ren!' she spoke loudly, firmly, trying to get him to listen. 'I can get you back on the boat, stop struggling.'

Ren was having difficulty breathing correctly. Each time he opened his mouth to take in air, all he got was a mouthful of seawater. Gabrian's ability to breath underwater would have come in quite useful at this time, but Ren unfortunately was no nix, and, therefore, was in a particularly lot of trouble.
His head breaking the surface yet again, drawing in gasping breath for air, Ren heard a familiar voice. Mac was in the water near him, somewhere, but Ren couldn't see him, only a lot of water and the wide berth of the ship beside him. He kicked out, feeling his leg connect with something (or rather, someone), but the movement only dragged him further down into the water. His fingers grasped desperately for something, anything, and he felt an arm around his waist, dragging him upwards yet again.
It was Mac that was holding onto him, at least for the moment, and Ren clung to the other boil's shirtfront, grappling for a handhold before his flailing pulled him down under again, and he swallowed yet another mouthful of seawater. Up again, coughing, sputtering, and choking, Ren's lungs were burning with the effort to breathe. He heard a ghoul's voice - was that Arachne? - and then someone grabbed his wrist, yanking him back up. Ren spat out a mouthful of water, and with a lunge that could only be explained through sheer desperate panic, he latched onto the rope that the ghoul had brought over - thank Jack. Through the combined efforts of all three, plus Rosc and Gabrian on board, Ren somehow, finally, managed to get back onto the ship.
Where he promptly collapsed in a shivering, coughing, choking, sputtering, slightly hysterical and mildly panicky heap.

As loathe as he was to accept help from a Demoness, it wasn't about him anymore; and besides, his attempts at keeping Ren above the water were futile at best. He never stopped trying to keep Ren afloat, even as he groped out to grab the end of the rope from her, working to loop it around the panicking Gryphon.
It was by some stroke of luck they managed to get Ren back on the ship, and after ensuring that Arachne was out of the water, he was about to climb his way back on board, when he stopped, spotting something green near him, bobbing on the water. His hat! Grinning happily (in fact, Ren's kicking was perfect in lieu of Mac wanting to kick himself for not removing this article of clothing before jumping in the water), he grabbed the hat and finally climbed back on deck, as sopping wet as the rest of them.
"Ren." Mac coughed out, sputtering out the last bit of water. "Relax, man. You're back on deck, deep breaths or something." After patting the other boil's head, the Reaper started stripping off his now very heavy jacket and belt pouches, wringing as much water from them as he could. "You're gonna need that jacket now, I bet." He murmured to Arachne, still clearly being 'chivalrous' and not wanting his jacket back.
Also, ew Demon cooties.
