Journal Entry: In the Beginning
Fallenryde

The sky was clear and the morning was warm and dry, Fallenryde stretched as he rolled over in his bed, a place of straw and cotton his mother had placed down for him shortly after his birth. He was too tired to get up but knew his father would be home with breakfast shortly and he always enjoyed being there to see what he brought for the family, Fallenryde was really proud of his father's strength and hoped that he would be as great as him one day. Resting his paws on the ground, Fallenryde slowly lifted his body from his bed and pawed his way across the room. His home wasn't too big, a mud hut built with nothing more then the very paws that created the village his parent's grew up in as pups. History and ancestors were a very important aspect in the village, the families would go out every evening and pray to the grave sights of their passed loved ones, for luck, protection or event wisdom.

Shaking his head with the blinding morning sun, Fallenryde lowered his body down for a relaxing stretch and shook the rest of his body upon raising it again. Allowing a yawn or two to escape his mouth he went outside the battened door in search for his mother who was usually prepairing for their meal at about this time. Fallenryde's eyes grew excited when her body finally came into view, a black slender body leaning over a trickling stream close to their mud and straw hut. "Has daddy come home yet?" He leaped with excitement when his father was mentioned in a conversation, he didn't get to see him a lot and in the chances that he did it was a time worth remembering. His mother just laughed and pulled him closer to her to wash his face in the cool water, something she always tried to get him to do just after waking up. The splash of cold wet on his face made him chill with the morning breeze and he shook the remaining drops from his face before looking back up at his mother with a smile.

"Your father will be here shortly, but for now can you please make sure the hut is cleaned up before he does?" She had her hands full with her current chores and often asked him for some assistance with her household jobs. Fallenryde didn't mind helping around much at all, in fact it made him feel like he was the mad on the house while his father was away on a hunt or doing his job. Nodding with a smile, Fallenryde bounded back to his little home and began cleaning things up. A few stray pieces of straw and some coal from the fire pit had misplaced themselves from their proper places and Fallenryde was right on top of placing them back where they should be. Sitting on the floor he let out one more morning yawn before walking to the doorway to search for a sign of his father returning to them.

Perked up ears and a long wagging tail made Fallenryde's image obvious his father was home, carrying with him a large buck in his jaws. It's rump was dragging in the dry dirt and it's bust antlers rubbing against the tall black Ulaya's shoulders as he carried it to the house. Fallenryde ran to the other side of the hut, where his bed was currently residing, so to stay out of his way when he came in to rest from his hunt. Entering the doorway after placing the large deer on the ground for a moment, he looked right towards Fallenryde and smiled. "Good morning son, you're up early again I see." He normally brought enough food for him and his mother to eat on their own for a week before returning with another one to feed the family. He was always away with the hunts as the village had only one dedicated group for finding food for the whole community and this leaving his father out to work most of his time, only to return once in a while for a rest.

"I'm always up early when you come home!" Fallenryde pointed out the obvious to his father, making it clear that he was still excited for his return to the family. The large muscular body of his father shook his head with a laugh and rested his body on the ground, placing one paw over the other in front of his chest. "One day, son. One day you will be able to come on a hunt with us and then you will be able to bring your own meals home." Fallenryde's eyes grew wide with excitement as he thought of going on a hunt with his father, all of the time he would be able to spend with him. But it also made him a little sad because then he would be away from his mother so much and won't have mornings like today to look forward to. He didn't mind all of this so much though, for he wanted to be a grown up adult in the family, he was always trying to do his part of working for the family and doing things around the house to help his mother.

His father flicked his ear with the sound of the buck being prepared for their meal, his black body was unique to the other Ulayas in the village. Blue markings covered his features instead of the usual gold ones, this caused him many troubles as he was a child and once Fallenryde was born he knew his times as a pup would be just as hard, if not worse. His special markings of apparent cross breeding was going to cause his life to be harder. The village was very proud of their lineages and was all about pure blood lines but his father was a cross breed and thus everyone in the area turned their heads to him, talking in the shadows about him being so different and impure. Fallenryde had also started to notice these looks and conversations going on around him as it was apparent he was more like his father then his pure blooded mother, he was far different then the rest of them and showed the broken blood more then his father himself.

A young Ulaya came up to the doorway, a soft and shy voice spoke out for permission to play with Fallenryde. This little pup was the only Ulaya in the village that didn't mind playing with him as he is different then the rest and she wasn't bothered at all by it. While everyone else treated him like he had a plague, refusing to even touch the ground he had walked upon, she was making him flower crowns and playing around the houses with him. Of all the Ulayas in the pack, she was the only one Fallenryde looked forward to seeing in the mornings, aside from his father of course. A nod from the large male at the other side of the room assured her she was welcome in the hut to see him, she often spent the mornings his father was here eating the fresh meal from the kill. It was the best time to be around and with her father passed on she didn't get such a treat with just her mother around. She was always welcomed into the house with Fallenryde, his parents knew she was a special Ulaya, one that was kind to their son and thus they treated her with lots of respect and love.

With a playful bound, Fallenryde was out the doorway and on his way to play with his best friend, Stella. She walked elegantly behind him with a plastered smile on her face, she was always proud to see him in a good mood, considering his state and how the rest of the village treated him. "C'mon Stella! Hurry up!" Fallenryde was rather energized from just waking up and he wanted to get to their favorite play spot before anyone else gets to it first. She just shook her head at him and raised her ears as she replied back to his antic, "I'm coming, you're just more awake then I am is all." She didn't always wake up as cheerful as he did for she really missed her father and fresh meal day brought her down a lot, at least until she gets to spend her time with Fallenryde. "I'm gonna get there before you!" He threatened her, hoping it would rush her up and trot up next to him but instead she just laughed at him and almost seemed like she slowed her pace down more. Releasing a sigh of defeat, Fallenryde paused in his place for a few moments until she was up beside him and then he started walking at her rate. "You really are a pain, you know that?" He finished with a giggle and started to bob his tail with his steps, an attempt to keep his energy contained until they got there.

Shaded under the forest's entrance was a tall oak tree with branches hanging off from all directions, low enough for a young Ulaya Fallenryde's age to reach. The two came upon it and almost instantly the little boy began scratching up the tree's trunk, scraping it's bark with his firm claws. Reaching the lowest branch he climbed onto it and looked down at his friend who was watching him scramble up the tall tree. "So how long is your dad going to be in the village this time?" Stella decided to strike a conversation with him, possibly entertaining their minds a little more then they already were. Fallenryde shrugged and gave his usual answer to her, "Probably as long as he normally does." He never really knew what was going on about his parents, especially his father who was always more busy then Fallenryde wished he was.

Three beastly Ulaya boys came up to the tree, two walking a step behind the first. They were always found around each other, never leaving one another's sides other then to return home for the night. The three boy didn't take a liking to Fallenryde's blood line, almost as much as their parents didn't. But these boys were different, they expressed their hatred towards him more then any adult would, they really didn't have morals at their age and thus had no remorse for him at all. "So, hiding in your tree like the normal scaredy cat I see." The leading one said with a laugh after, almost instantly followed by his two sidekicks. Fallenryde and Stella's heads both turned to the boys and his ears perked straight forward as he rolled his eyes at them. "Leave him alone! Don't you three have anything better to do with your day?" Stella always tried her own little attempts at defending Fallenryde but, of course, they rarely every helped the situation any. "So you're still turning to the girl for defense I see." Again his two stooges laughed at his comment as if they were drones in his little game. "Why don't you go chew on a pinecone, I hear it's your favorite treat." Fallenryde knew the kid was proud of his elite hunting family and he rarely ate anything but meat, and he also knew this would be a mood setter for the little male bringing on a fight.

This enraged the other Ulaya, just as Fallenryde knew it would. But as he didn't think he figured being in the tree would protect him but it also made it worse on Stella. "Oh you'll get it for saying that half blood!" He stormed up to the tree trunk and growled up at the branch where the blue marked Ulaya was sitting, waiting for the right time to get at him. "Stop! Leave him alone!" Stella yelled, pushing at the boy to get him away from the tree. Turning his ears back he push Stella right back, slamming her head into the trunk and sending her skidding onto the ground. "Hey!" Fallenryde was mad now, anybody could pick on him as much as they wanted but nobody was allowed to touch Stella. Leaping down from the tree he landed to the ground with a thump, looking up at the other boy he turned his ears back and lunged at him, mouth opened and teeth barred. Snarling at the attacking Ulaya, the boy raised up onto his hind legs and slammed Fallenryde on the side of his face with his front feet, scratching him badly with his claws. Falling to the ground, Fallenryde struggled to stand before getting attacked by the other two Ulayas, now getting a great beating by all three of them.

Almost 10 minutes had passed before the three boys got bored of their game. Standing with blood and dirt dried into their fur the leading Ulaya turned his head back and snorted a laugh in Fallenryde's directed as he lay motionless on the ground before walking into the direction of the village. Stella raised her head from the ground and slowly lifted her body from the dirt, walking over to her friend she looked him over with a shake of her head and a sigh. "Just leave me alone." Fallenryde shivered from the pain and closed his eyes, waiting for her to walk away like everyone else in the village would have. But instead she sat down next to him and rested her head by his own. "We have to stick together in this, and not let anyone defeat our hopes." Fallenryde opened his eyes and slightly raised his head to look at his friend with a wonderous look upon his face. Admiring his cuts and scrapes Stella placed her paw by his cheek and squinted her eyes. "This one will probably become a scar if you don't take care of it right." She traced the 'x' mark over his eye with her finger as he shook his head. "I'll keep it there, to remind me of how you treat me. Of how you're the only one I can look to for guidance."

Journal Entry: Cabbits of Love
Ryo-ohki x Ken-ohki

"Meow! This place is amazing! Thank you for bringing me here, Ken!" Ryo-ohki bounded through a garden patch loaded with carrots that grew further than the eye could see. "Where did you find this place?!" It was the greatest thing she had seen before in her life, her two favorite things in the world, carrots and Ken-ohki, together in the same patch, how could it get any better than this? "Oh, I chanced upon it. I though of you when I saw it and knew I had to show you the garden as soon as I could." He was only half telling the truth for Ryo-ohki had been working on this garden for her since the summer had begun, making sure it had enough orange and green in it to keep her happy until next winter. His efforts paid off as he watched her pull a carrot from it's root and stick the pointed end into her mouth, finishing it off with a giggle and a smile. "I'm glad you like it here." He said giving her a slight chuckle back, his personality always broke through when she was around, not anything like when he was with another ulaya, he always hid his emotions from the world. It was difficult to hide them from her, though, she had this emotional pull on him that turns him into a blubbering fool and he just couldn't understand why.

After snacking on a few carrots, Ryo-ohki went over to her company and wrapped her body around his, embracing him in a hug. Ken-ohki immediately began to blush and stutter his words, taken aback by her sudden actions. "Uh, it really wasn't much, I promise." He smiled at the though of her hugging him, glad his work on the garden had completely been what made her happy, which was all he wanted to do. "You're the best, Ken! Thank you for bringing me here, meow!" She hugged him for a minute or two before finally taking herself away from his body, giving Ken-ohki a slightly sad feeling inside that he will continue to keep from her as long as he could. "I can stay here all day in this field of greenery." She looked into his eyes, hers beaming with light from her excitement and energy, showing him that she was truly glad he had made the effort to think about her.

Ken-ohki gazed into her abyss until she turned away to work on another carrot, leaving him wanting to look into her eyes a little longer. Blinking a few times, he walked over to her and stood by her side, lowering his head to look at her he smiled and asked, "Mind if I have one?" Ryo-ohki giggled at him and pulled a carrot from the soil before them. "Yes, please do!" She passed it to him, the carrot held softly in her mouth, the green coming from the orange dangled towards the ground. Ken-ohki reached out with his own maw to take the vegetable from the brown cabbit ulaya, being sure to not seem too hasty with his actions. As soon as his mouth was withing reach, Ryo-ohki leaned forward and touched her nose against his, freezing the male cabbit in place. Was this a kiss or was she just trying to get him to take the carrot from her grasp? He didn't know what to do at all and was afraid to make a move, he just stood there in shock and stared into her eyes once again, they were beaming with her smile. Ryo-ohki poked the point of the carrot into the corner of his mouth and giggled once again, letting him know he could take it from her. Clamping his teeth on the orange vegetable, Ryo-ohki then released it from her grip and took her head back away from him. Tilting it to one side, she turned back around and bounded off towards the middle of the patch, her ears dragging on the ground with every leap.

Still blinking in shock, Ken-ohki lifted his head to a normal position and watched her move away from him, her fluffy tail wiggling as she moved. He was still wondering about what to think of her actions she had just done before, not sure how to take them. With the carrot still hanging from the corner of his mouth, Ken-ohki started walking slowly towards the female cabbit who was having a ball with the greens growing out of the ground, batting them around like she was a kitten with a play thing. Ryo-ohki rolled onto her back on the ground, her ears wrapping themselves around her smallish figure. Looking up at the sky she watched the clouds pass over head, taking forms and then breaking them apart once again. "Meow! Come lay with me, Ken!" She wiggled her tail with excitement, flicking up dust with every twitch of the ball of fluff. Ken-ohki had just reached her side when she started pointing up at the sky and naming what each cloud looked like to her. "Look! That one is a tree! Ooh! And that one is a squirrel!" Her paw raised into the air pointing at each cloud formation like it would make it easier for him to see where she was looking.

Laying down on the ground next to her, Ken-ohki finished the carrot, a string of green still hanging from his mouth, and placed his head next to hers which soon was followed by the rest of his body, his figure was a little larger than hers was. Stretching his legs out, he tried to align his sight up with her paw but she was moving it around to see another image too quickly leaving him to search for the newest thing she was seeing. "Do you see one, Ken? I wanna see what you see." She looked over to him, her eyes landed upon his, and waited to see what he could point out. "Um. I think I see ... " He couldn't focus on the white clouds above while she was looking at him like that, but he tried his hardest. "I think I see an undulican." He scanned the sky for a quick picture within the puffy figures, leaving her excited for what he would say. "Really?! Where?" She looked back up to the heavens, trying to see where the bird winged ulaya was, blinking at the brightness of the sun above them. "Oh, just there." He reached his own paw out to show Ryo-ohki, this time letting her try an align her sights with his. "Oh wow I see it, meow!" Her tail began to wiggle again because she had seen what he was seeing as well, this made her more excited than ever.

Ken-ohki smiled that he could make her so happy with such a simple thing and then continued to watch her point out figures in the sky. The ground was soft under them for they were now laying in the patch of soil Ryo-ohki had eaten the carrots from before, leaving them nothing to poke into their sides. He looked at her as she had suddenly stopped pointing out the shapes above and wondered what she was thinking of, her eyes still glancing upwards. "Are you okay?" He wasn't sure if she was bothered by something and didn't want her to worry about anything right now, he just wanted her to enjoy herself. Looking back over to him, Ryo-ohki smiled and leaned closer to him, causing Ken-ohki to blush all over. "I'm doing wonderful thank you, today was perfect." She nuzzled her nose against his cheek and closed her eyes, her whiskers brushing up against his causing a tickle that made him shiver. The contact was exactly what Ryo-ohki had wanted, without even knowing it. He longed for her to hug him, to kiss him, to long for him like he did for her.

Ryo-ohki sighed as she rested her nose against the side of his cheek, her eyes still closed and her mind wondering into another world. Ken-ohki stayed silent, enjoying the moment while it was lasting and affraid to say anything for fear that he will say the wrong thing and scare her away. Ryo-ohki slowly opened her eyes and moved away from the male, but only far enough where her breath could tickle his whiskers some. "I never want this day to end, it is the best day of my life." Ken-ohki couldn't hold back his smile, he was really happy to hear that he could make her happy. He rolled his head over so their noses were close to touching and licked her nose, a bold move that quickly gave him butterflies in his belly and made him begin to regret his own actions. Ryo-ohki stayed still. She didn't run away or yell at him, she didn't even blink, she just held herself as she had for the past few minutes before letting out a shy chuckle. Lifting Ken-ohki's head with her nose, she tucked it under his and licked his cheek back before whispering "I love you." into Ken-ohki's ear, leaving him to swallow his own breath. Finally getting some air into his lungs, Ken-ohki smiled with all of the emotions he had ever hidden from anyone in his life and replied back "I really do love you too."

Hearing this, Ryo-ohki's tail began to wiggle again, shaking her entire body with the amount of joy she was expressing. She then rolled over onto her belly and stuck her rump into the air, her tail still wagging and her ears laying all over the dirty ground. Squinting her nose up she shook the dust off her body and looked at Ken-ohki with a playful look. "Come with me, I want to go for a walk." Ken-ohki rolled over and got his own body off from the ground, kicking the dirt off with his hind foot, scratching himself like a dog. "Sure, I'll go anywhere with you." He had suddenly become open with everything he wanted to say with her, finally confident that she wasn't going to be scared off by his foolish words. Together they both went into the distance, Ryo-ohki always a few hops in front of Ken-ohki who was only walking and taking his time just behind her, proud of himself how the day had played out, glad that he had a cabbit that was just as wonderful as she was.

Journal Entry: Motherly Love
Yin x Yang

"If there were many tears falling down, Every heart would become gentle. If everybody expresses what they think, Every heart can be satisfied." A soft voice sang into the peaceful night as she lay the heads of her two children down for bed. "I was frightened by the never ending night, So I prayed to the distant stars." She patted the head of her daughter, looking sweetly into her eyes before turning to her son and kissed his forehead. "In endlessly repeating time, We were searching for love, Because we wanted to become stronger. We look up to the faraway sky." She slowly lifted the blanket over them, making sure there wasn't any way cold air could reach them during their slumber. "The two of us, smiling, meet here, Every heart has a habit of receiving its dreams. Sadness has no effect on us, Every heart gains happiness when it flies." She sat down on the bed and tucked all of the blankets up to them, making sure they were as comfortable as could possibly be. "Someday our souls will unite, We will give peaceful approval. In endlessly repeating time, We know why we are living. We go through the nighttime laughing, Both of us are mourning, yet we walk on." Little eyes looked up at their mother as she continued her song, little mouths yawning as they were getting even more sleepy than they were to start. "Memories of everything has settled, This is a warm place to be. The stars separate us from the future, We are always so brilliant, So shine." The light colored female looked at her dark bodied brother as he rolled over to face her, he had a glossy look in his eyes like he was about to fall asleep. "In endlessly repeating time, We were searching for love, Because we wanted to become stronger. We look up to the faraway sky." Letting out a yawn of her own, the female closed her own eyes and sighed as she fell asleep to dream of another day with the family she loved. "In endlessly repeating time, We know why we are living. We go through the nighttime laughing, Both of us are mourning, yet we walk on." Slowly getting off the bed the mother again kissed their foreheads, one than the other, and walked out of the room, finishing her song before exiting the silent area her beloved children would slumber. The iconic life of a family of gods living the dream in a world made for another, bringing difficulties and trials to face in the future but those were nothing of a thought in their minds right now. They were happy now, happy to be together and proud to be part of this world and sharing it together.

Journal Entry: The Cold Truth
Yin x Yang

Two small quite figures lay curled up in a cave, looking at the entrance with hopes and dreams of one day seeing their parents once again. Waiting for them to come back into the doorway and take them back into their arms like they did so long ago, wanting them to return after so being away for so long. The dark colored male looked over to his brightly colored sister who was curled up with her face in her arms, dreaming of the future to come where they never have to live a life of tears or worries again. Yin sighed in disbelief as he looked back to the outside, dark and cold like the heart growing inside him. Rain pattered on the ground before the cavern, causing the floor to grow wetter and wetter as the time passed on, giving the two childeren chills as the cold wind whipped through their home. Yang shook with the cooling of the air and lifted her head to check up on her brother which she did often, she felt it her responsibility to make sure he didn't turn evil, to make sure he wasn't going to go the wrong route in life. She worried about his hatered for their parents leaving them, he hated how they never came back after they promised them they would always be there.

Yin looked back over to Yang before closing his eyes and resting his chin upon his forearms, closing his eyes and lowering his wings to the ground. Yang moved closer to him in response to his actions, making sure he didn't freeze to death but most of all giving him the contact and comfort that he really needed so badly. "They'll come back, I just know they will." Yang assured her brother as she always did, she liked to keep a positive mind about her and tries often to get him to think the same way, but always fails badly. Yin just snorted a mocking laugh at her and hid his face in his own arms before responding to her cheerful comment. "How could you believe that? The've abandoned us, don't you get it?" He removed his head from it's hiding place and looked her in the eyes. "They are NOT coming back, stop saying they will. Stop lieing to yourself, it's useless and only gives you false hope. Just stop!" He had a the most serious and stern look on his face that reflected in his voice, he believed his words more than anything and would never change it way of thinking. He felt that he knew the truth and that she was just being foolish thinking it wasn't real, that the truth was just a fairy tale myth and they really were coming back.

"Yin, how can you be so sure of that? They always came back before, why wouldn't they do it this time?" Yang sighed, his words were harsh and truthful but she didn't want them to get herself down like they had to him. She worried about if they really didn't come back what Yin would do, how he would react to the truth he had place upon himself in his own mind. What would Yin do when he learns they were really gone forever? Would he cry for the first time in his life? Or would he take back everything bad he ever did and change his way of thinking by hoping that maybe there is something better than their little lives they were living at the moment? Yin shook his head and slammed his paw onto the ground before him, sending dust in all directions. "Because we're different, that's why! We're too much trouble for them to handle, we're too much work and they couldn't take it anymore. They hated taking care of us, they hated to see us every day, growing more powerful than they had been themselves. They just hate us, that's why!" Yang was taken aback by his words, strong and grown up but childish at the same time for a young god to be speaking. "You're lieing!" She yelled back, not wanting to hear about the hatred he had let form in his heart, she didn't want him to speak like that because then he would believe it even more than he already did. "Stop talking about them like that! They took care of us so well, they wouldn't just leave us cold in a cave forever!" Yang stood up and looked her brother in the eyes, trying to see anything but darkness in his soul but her searching would take an eternity if she looked until she saw a flicker of light in his heart.

Yin snorted at her and hid his face in his arms again, he didn't like fighting with his sister for he knew she was all that he had left in the world. He would never trust anyone again, he wouldn't let anyone else in his heart or his mind for as long as he lived. He took a vow to himself right then and there that he wouldn't speak his mind anymore, not even to his sister. She couldn't handle the truth like he could, she just doesn't understand that the future is going to be harder on them from then on. He wouldn't speak anymore, not to anyone, not even to himself for he didn't have to. Yang watched as he lay there silently, breathing deep and obviously trying to calm himself down, shaking her head she lay her body down next to his and wrapped her wing over his body. "I promise, no matter what happens with our parents or anyone else in the future, I promise I will watch over you. That's a promise you know will be kept because I hate to see you hurt like this." She rested her head next to his and closed her eyes, wondering what was going to happen a few years from now. Wondering if he would stay like this forever, sure that she was the only one that he would ever look up to, the only one that he would let near him, close enough to let into his heart. She was lucky to be in such a world with him and he was lucky to have a sibling as caring and loving as she was. Someone to look after him as their parents should have done when they abandoned them to the cold, she knew it really was the truth but she wanted to think about them coming back into their lives, having a story to tell them of travels far away but most of all, their return to the sibling's sides. That was just a dream turning into a fantasy, for both of them ...
