We're doing a Katy Perry theme this year. I don't much care for it, as everyone else in band does, but I kind of have to play it. Then again it might be revenge from last year when we did a Led Zeppelin show. sweatdrop I was one of the only people who liked that one. I wish we could do that again. heart

So, our theme this year is Batman. Pretty sweet, actually. We make the bat logo on the field, and spell out "POW" and "BAM." Working on the drill for our third and final song over the next week, should be on the field for Friday's game. Rain has prevented much marching this past week, sadly, but we sound better than ever thanks to several music rehearsal practices. The only downside is I occassionally get "NA-NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA..." (ad infinitum) stuck in my head, since that's all we (clarinets) play all song, hahaha.

No, but we were supposed to do that show last year. Instead we ended up doing Pandora's box because that show was already taken.

Our show is called, "The Gallery"

It is a cultures of the world-themed show featuring
Afro-Cuban All Stars (192 bpm)
Variations on a Korean Folk Song (104 bpm, then 180 bpm)
Struttin With Some BBQ (180 bpm)
and finally
The Requiem from the movie "The Gladiator" (80 bpm, then 160 bpm, then 60 bpm)

crazy right? I'm pretty excited to put the last movement together!

The mind is its own place, and in itself...

Our band directors write both our drill and music.
Tempos:
Opener - 72, 170
Ballad - 75, 78, 82, 84, 85, 170
Closer - 180, 160, 190

This year we haven't had our first actual performance at a competition yet. Our show is called Something Wicked This Way Comes, and is about a woman who buys a house of her own, but finds the house to not be all the good it was said to be, and the current "inhabitants" want her out. The ending does not go well for our woman. Our band this year has around 180 members overall, and our first competition is next week, and we already have marched and played more than 6 minutes of our show so far, and we just finished learning our drill for our closer : ) Now we just have to march and play our entire show, and learn visuals.

Our plotline is as such: (Something Wicked This Way Comes) A woman gets a brand new job and has to move to a new city. She's so excited for herself, and she buys a house of her own. It's not a newer house, but she doesn't care. But when she enters her new home, she feels as if somethings not right. Weird things start to happen around her; she can't see what's causing it, but she can feel them, hear them. The ghostly inhabitants want her our, and want her out now. Out of fear, she runs to her room for safety, and realizes her ghosts can't reach her there. (Incantation) Our ballad starts off with the ghosts "changing" their mind about her, and we hear a little girl outside her room, begging her to come out and play, to stay there forever with them. Our woman refuses, and the ghosts become even more angry with her. They don't want her to leave, they want her to stay and join them, and our leading lady leaves her room for a way out of her home (Chase). Our closer ends on a sour note, when the woman unwillingly succumbs to the ghosts.

...Can make a heav'n of hell, a hell of heav'n.

Nightmare before Christmas. It's been 4 years 11months 2 days since the last time we out scored someone. Then we had to erase the numbers from the white board, cuz we won.

We're doing the Beatles this year heart we have two shows
The first is the Abbey Road show with I wanna Hold Your Hand, Yesterday, Paperback Writer, and Twist and Shout.
The other show is Sargent Pepper show. We're doing Magical Mystery Tour, Get Back, Let it Be, and Hey Jude.
I think it's really neat cause we actually have a band to represent the Beatles group and they come walking out on Abbey Road. It's really neat.

Our show was called "Spanish Passion" and it tells of a love story between a man and a woman, from a metaphorical point of view of a bull fight. Our drum majors had to act out scenes, it was hilarious!
