Rouge shrugged. "Actually, for the most part, I can do as I please. I just followed him to make sure he didn't get himself killed, or kill somebody."
"Unlike the bastards who imprisoned me there, I don't kill without reason." Shadow said, kicking a stone with his foot, arms crossed still. "I have no idea where I am to go, but anywhere is better then that hell."
"That reminds me of something I wanted to ask you, Shadow. What did you do while locked in your room between missions?" Rouge asked, putting a hand on her chin in thought.

"Like almost hitting me with a hovercraft." Rosemary sighed. She gave a humorless laugh. "You sound no different than me." she said. "I'm stuck in that base. Or, was." She cast a glance at Rouge. Locked in a room? Somewhat related to Rosemary's dilemma. She looked between the two. I wish I was dreaming, she thought.

"Mostly think of how dreadful my life is, or think of ways to escape." Shadow answered Rouge, leaning up against a tree. "Of course, there's the matter of this bracelet." He lifted up his wrist, looking at it.
"I could give you the diamond again." Rouge suggested.
"That wouldn't work. I tried."

Rosemary looked at the odd bracelet. If it were any sort of tracker, then wouldn't the people at his base know he had escaped? She thought she should bring the matter up. "Wouldn't someone have noticed your location?" she asked, motioning at the bracelet. She then thought of ways to rid of it. "This won't sound very intelligent, but ever tried taking it off, gently? Like...pulling Excalibur from the stone?"

"From the fact that he left the unconsious bodies where they were, they won't even need the tracking device to know he's escaped. They'll know where he is, it's just the fact that we're infront of the enemy base, and he destroyed all the other cars." Rouge explained.
"That 'gently taking it off' thing wouldn't work, either. I've tried."

Rosemary snorted. "And why do I find that hard to believe?" she asked. She looked around. "Well, I guess that means I'm safe." She looked between Rouge and Shadow. She sighed. And I got into this, she thought. Then again, I could always leave and forget all about it.

"We have to keep moving. Staying anywhere long is dangerous." Shadow reminded Rouge, walking past her and into the woods.
Rouge watched him go, then looked at Rosemary. "That's Shadow for you. Barely even a hello, and then he's gone again."

Rosemary sighed. Off again, as well as she knew. "Well, have fun being the hunted." she said. And I'll just go back to my cage, she thought glumly. In a way, she envied Shadow. He had the audacity to escape. But then again, he had amazing powers to help him. She stood there, casting a glance at her father's base before sighing. She looked at Rouge and gave a half smile. "This day has turned out to be really weird." she said.

Rouge sighed. "I'd suggest you come with us, but you just met us randomly, and I doubt you'd want to be stuck with me and him." Rouge said, crossing her arms in thought, unlike Shadow, who often did it just because he could or was irritated.

Rosemary smirked. "I can't say that I've dealt with worse. Or anything as odd." she said with a shrug. "But it can't be helped. I'm obviously no use and I'm not like either of you. I'd be a burden." She sighed. She'd have to deal with it. She was normal. So what? Weren't there benifits for being normal? From her point of view, not really.

"In Shadow's world, where compromise does not exist, every step takes the risk." Rouge shrugged. "I don't know. The general always says that. And you wouldn't be a burden." She thought a moment, "Well, to me. Once I leave, Shadow might....er....probably by accident.....most likely get you killed. He'd help you out if you were in danger, but if you died, he'd just go on without any feeling that something bad happened...." she added, twiddling her thumbs together. "In his world, don't fear the fall."

Rosemary gave a short laugh. "Right. Accident." she said sarcastically. It seemed typical of what something like Shadow would act like. Emotionless. Rosemary felt sympathetic towards that. It must be nice to not care, she thought. She sighed and casted a mutinous glace at her father's base. "In my life, it's worth every risk." she muttered.

After a few minutes of walking, Rouge saw him, a bit ahead of them. "Hey, hey Shadow!"
Shadow stopped walking, looking over his shoulder at them. "What? Either you're coming or you're not. Simple as that."
"Well, we are."
"'We?'" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Me and Rosemary, duh."
"Why is she coming?"
Rouge put her hand on her him. "Why not?"
"Fine. But if she gets killed, don't come crying to me." He looked ahead again, and continued walking.
