Caolan woke early, a habit he had developed with the clan, so he wasn't surprised to see that Tamotsu hadn't shown up yet. Well, maybe it was likely the orange fox got up early too...he didn't know.

But Caolan thought Tamotsu should have been there by mid-morning. Or had he taken time for breakfast before coming...?

Shortly before afternoon, Caolan knew enough to know he didn't know what was going on, and set off to try to find Tamotsu. He found the clearing the deer had been in last night easily enough, and, if he wasn't mistaken, some more flesh was missing from the fawn. Tamotsu? Probably--had it been any other predator, the entire carcass would be bare by now.

That only half explained why Tamotsu was 'missing', and so Caolan set off in the direction Tamotsu had gone last night, while wondering what might have happened with his friend.
