gonk Gah - Ravage was NOT a dog! Why do people keep mistaking him as being canine?! Sorry if my response seems overly harsh, but that's one thing that has always really bugged me. Officially, Ravage is a 'Machine Robo' Jaguar. 3nodding
A Jaguar is a canine. Canines is made up of both dog-like and cat-like. I remember seeing a chart of the two trees before. Although, I don't see how some one got Ravage as being a dog. His look and sound resemble that of a cat and a cat's roar and hiss. It was weird though how they had very few animal TF at first. Lazerbeak and Ravage are the only two I know of from the first season of G1.

The Jaguar is most definitely feline, mate. talk2hand

To be perfectly honest with you all, I'd always assumed that Ravage was meant to have been a PUMA as a kid, but I was never of the mistaken impression that he was a dog. I mean, the contours of his cranial casing, along with the lines of his body, coupled with the mannerisms exhibited, all lean towards feline characteristics. However, by the time of his portrayal in Beast Wars, there really should have been no doubt - that is clearly a cat's head on those mechanical shoulders. As for the accent, I guess a heavy Russian intonation just sounds cool. Where he might have picked it up is anyone's guess, as he sure didn't possess such in G1...!

Yep, I don't know where the accent came from but it just works really well.

Too bad for me, Mylian beat me to gathering the scientific catagorization of Canines and Felines. I love all fields of science and sometimes cold hard logic is refreshing. But yeah, dogs have "canines" as in the teeth, as do us humans. I guess that can be a little confusing maybe. I don't remember if the canine teeth car the fang-like teeth in our mouth or not, but that's way off topic sweatdrop .....

I always pictured Ravage as a panther as a child even though he didn't have the body shape of it, but I didn't know any better when I was younger, the difference between a puma and a panther.

Also to say, if you look here, cats and dogs are in the same Kingdom, Phylum, Class, and Order, but seperate at Family.

eek Wow, we might be getting a little too technical even for me now, Kikaryu! sweatdrop Ha ha, but it is indeed interesting, nonetheless. 3nodding Yeah, while a tad cliche, I really liked the accent given to Tripredicus agent Ravage (bad guys often feature a Russian flavour, I've noticed). It's funny that no-one ever remembers his original voice, though...

Fearswoop was a great toy, one of my favorates of the G2 line (besides the mightly Calcar). And Sky-Byte is an established monikre, albeit from the alternate RiD reality. I guess that's your point though, huh Talon? That said, why would the Beast Wars mutants necessarily require known names? Icebird was original, as was Poison Bite, so I think something like the suggested 'Scalewing' would have been a good choice, actually. 3nodding

I'm still trying to decide on good replacement names for the dual pack Optimus Primal and Megatron... although Convobat and Megalligator aren't so bad, I s'pose.

for Megalligator: Skullcruncher (not mine, but hey), OverBite, Gnaw, Clamp, Clench...

for "Convobat": NightScream, Fearswoop, Sonar(wait, was that one used in BW?), Midnight Express(joking), Leatherwing, Divebomb.

just a few suggestions.

I remember my trademark BW character used to be a Transmetal barricuda I named Razorfang. My creation.

Heh, oh the days.

btw sorry for going off the "Ravage was a dog, technically" convo, but that was going back and forth too much. Trying to change the direction. 3nodding

Technorganic reformatted Cybertron, I think, would have been much better received if they'd had the budget to make it look like they'd originally wanted, with biomechanical building/trees and such. I forget where the images I saw came from, some manga or comic or something. Instead, it became a rather dull expanse of vegetative matter.

Personally, I don't mind the concept as originally visualized.

Still think that was an illogical move; vegitation requires certain environment contraints that are adversely detrimental to metals... a techno-organic Cybertron would ultimately destroy itself. neutral

Ahh, quite right. I guess if the machines had some kind of small metallic cells which use Oxygen and other natural resources. Still, it's a little iffy on biological and metallic life forms being and originating on the same planet.
