Malodore turned back to Riley, surprised and a little gratified by her concern. "I... yes. I'm perfectly well... now." Ugh, that had been unpleasant. It didn't want to think about the moment in which it had poofed into little tiny embers.... ugh... "I had a pumpkin pill left. But I'm not going out again. I'm going to stay right here and put my training to use," it said, grimly.

Jamais rematerialized laughing her a** off. That was until she felt the pain, and tears were streaming down her cheeks as she seemed to have appeared sitting on a cot, wings fine, everything was fine expect for the fact it all hurt like hell.

"Ohhh..... it hurts." She couldn't help but give maniacal laughter as she fell over onto her side in the bed clinging to her stomach. She was trying to calm her laughter and aching. She failed to have a pumpkin pill handy or for that matter much of anything else to heal with.

When the laughter subsided she was left laying there shivering. Okay Jackdamnit she was still cold, she'd better not had gotten anything while out there in the field. Granted everything hurt so both from pain and cold she was fit to be tied.

"That was the worst, jack-damned trip ever..." She muttered as she tried to figure out how to get curled into the covers without actually moving too much. "... Anyone feel like throwing a blanket over me..?" She whimpered as she curled up, wings cradled around her, before hissing, "it's still cold...."

Undead things have an uncanny knack for being wary of fire, and generally for good reason. It burns. Especially when provoked by embalming chemicals or old trapped gasses in a zombie stomach. As for patchworks, there is a general instilled fear of the mobs-with-pitchforks that usually accompany fire as well, which usually spreads and consumes stitches and flesh alike. Such is the way of things.

And so it was no real surprise that when Christof arrived (In pieces) in a heap in a bed in the infirmary, he was screaming. Or at least screaming as much as a young boil with his mouth stitched shut could scream. It was a muffled sort of horrific flailing that would have been a lot more of a scene had his crispy detached limbs been responsive in the least. Unfortunately, a lack of Fear to properly keep things tingling and cooperative made it rather difficult.

Finally, he resolved to sit back with a half horrified, half relieved groan, happy at least to be alive.

That'll teach him to keep his shoes tied in times of crisis.

At the mention of pumpkin pills, she recalled that she had one left. She fished it out of her pocket, and held it up for a moment.

Somehow, despite not really knowing how she knew where he was, she turned her eyes and immediately found Aksaja a few cots off. His eyes were shut, and he looked terrible, just as bad as her. She knew the pill she was about to take would take away all of this terrible pain, the suffering, all of it. But it was Aksaja's pill.

And her pain was making her just delusional enough to give a damn.

Malodore. She whispered out, reaching for it's hand to slip the pill inside of it. Give this to Aksaja. It's his.

She couldn't believe she was doing this, even as she did it. She reached out and cupped Luce in one hand, holding her close. At least the little adorable thing would bring her some comfort.

Malodore gave Riley a startled look - she had a pill and hadn't used it herself? That was... unexpected. "Understood," it said, quietly, carefully palming the orange pill and carrying it over to the lightning dragon's cot, stopping on the way over to obligingly flick a blanket over a strange ghoul's shivering form.

"Here - take this," it said, once it reached Aksaja, holding the pill to the dragon's lips. "Riley says it's yours."

Back on Riley's cot, Luce curled more tightly into Riley's side, warming her.

His eyes actually flew open at that, staring up at the plague doctor, and that pill. She was... giving him back his other pill...? That was ... that was ... possibly one of the nicest things anyone had done for him. Especially lately.

Taking it, he quickly downed the thing and groaned softly as the lingering burns healed, and a sensation of pure relief swept through him. Then Aksaja instantly swung his legs off the bed and padded over to where Riley was lying. "I ... thank you," he murmured softly, not sure what else to say or do.

Jamais felt the blanket being flicked over and cuddled into it giving off a slight purr as it was already warming her up a bit. "Thanks." She directed towards Malodore, who she'd seen pass by and could only assume the kindness was from... him?

Her tail occasionally flickered as she sighed softly. This might just be enough to make her swear off train rides. She couldn't help but wonder where Basil had gotten too and how she was fairing in all this.

Malodore followed up with a soft bell-chime, aimed at Riley. Hopefully it would do her some good.

Shifting in his cot, Christof overheard dimly some talk of pumpkin pills. Pills... damn, he had swallowed both of his. Ooooh how he would have liked one just about then. The last times had invigorated him... up until the robots and explosions. No matter. As far as he could tell his mind was sound at least. The pain was.... a strange sensation, really, once you got used to it's jaw-clenching awfulness. Burns, now, those were familiar, those always hurt, and he could smell burning hair. It might have been one of the hairier students nearby, though, it was unclear, the whole infirmary stank of... whatever it was their party had inadvertently awakened.

He shifted his head. He'd need some skin grafts when he was home, just when he had gotten used to this array of patchwork. Great. First thing was first, though, he had to pull himself together. Again. He really hated Christmas Town.

If he had had a mouth, it might have made things a hair easier, but with only one accounted for arm that stubbornly remained joyfully dead and unresponsive, he tried to scoot himself towards it, leaning his head against his unhunched shoulder to try to nab the arm laying across his chest with his chin and at least push it into place. Delirious with injury, it was quite a trying task. Limbs were supposed to MOVE when you removed them! How else could you repair yourself?? This place was ridiculous.

Oh, no. She knew he'd be grateful, but to come over and thank her, when she still felt like this.. she could almost drown him again for it if it were a possibility. She reached out with the hand that was not curled around Luce, and waved him off. Oh, stop it. It was your pill, you have no reason to thank me. Just.. go help Malodore with everyone else, so he doesn't have too much work to do.

She knew it. She just knew this wretched place, this JOY-infested hellhole, was going to have an effect on her. Look at her, so weak, so thoughtful. It would make her father sick to his stomach to see it. She made a mental note to kill or maim something cute later on to make herself feel better.

But not Luce, she amended with a scritch to the little furballs chin. No, Luce was special. Luce was Malodore's. And Luce was special all on her own. Special, and warm, and precious, and... by all that was unholy, what was happening to her?

Her eyes closed tight. I need to get out of here..

She heard the chime, felt a little tingle, and blinked, catching the sight of Malodore holding the bell. Her eyes closed, and her thoughts calmed. Even if it didn't heal her as well as it might hope, it was the thought that counted. It brought her comfort to know it tried.

Barth's claw dropped off the cot.

His effects, apparently riddled with as much fear as he was, had ended up disintegrated and reaparated beside him. He used long fingers to close around the handle of the bell, and move it once.

The bell, entirely used, cracked and fell to pieces. Barth left his arm where it was. He was content to lay there. Others, probably less so.

Rather grateful to be spared having to think or talk about the pill anymore, Aksaja jerked his head in a quick nod and moved over a bit closer to Malodore. He didn't know one single thing about medicine or whatever, but ... blankets. That made sense, and it was easy.

Moving quickly, he started to gather up blankets and cover up the students that had arrived most recently. He was still cold too, but ... at least he was healthy now.

Malodore quickly padded over to Christof, who had arrived... in bits. Quite small bits, in some cases. But the plague doctor hadn't taken sewing for nothing, and those who had attended Nurse Cricket's first class could attest to its abilities in that area. "I have materials," it informed the patchwork, "and with your consent..." It drew a needle and suture thread out of one sleeve, businesslike.

Riley's eyes opened wide as a rush of healing filled her core. She'd been watching Maladore, that hadn't been him this time.. who just did that? She had the strength to lift her head once more, and her head felt clear enough to swivel around and find the culprit. She just barely caught sight of the bell disintegrating in Barth's grip, and her brow furrowed in confusion. He looked terrible, but he'd used his LAST healing ring on HER?

Oh. Oh no. It wasn't because.. no, it couldn't be. No. She refused to believe it. He had just done a nice thing for no reason. People did that sometimes, didn't they? People who weren't her, at least. It had nothing to do with that.. that headbutt. Because that's all it was, after all. She convinced herself sternly that she was just being paranoid, and sat up straight.

Thanks. She sent the thought to him, even as she scooped Luce up in one hand and settled the little thing on her lap. She made sure her thought was as unassuming as possible. I appreciate it.

At the sound of the voice, Christof looked up, dimly trying to concentrate on the beaked face. Master? No- black like a crow's or a raven's, and red all around... that... that student from before! Boil? Ghoul? He couldn't remember, nor see straight enough to figure it out just yet, but his singed brows furrowed in sad desperation at his procured needle- oh thank FEAR there was an expert in the house! The limp wrist dropped from under his chin as he nodded in the enthusiastic way of someone on the verge of collapse.
