((Uh huh, thanks. Time to beat a centaur, for the hell of it. razz ))
Guido's finely tuned sense immediately forced his body in to the direction of the centaur. He had been looking forward to having a sensible conversation, and injecting a dose of tranquiliser subtly, but somehow, he supposed the oppourtunity for such a thing was over. A quick roll to the side was all that was necessary to avoid the onrushing creature, but such an action had the side effect of Guido's hat falling off. Which was bothersome, because he really liked that hat. Dusting off his shoulders, he squared up with his taller, and, apparently, more dangerous opponent. And sighed. "I was going to make this painless. But now, undoubtably some pain will be involved. At the very least, if you're going to charge at me like an animal, I can treat you like one. Yes... I think my conscience is clear on this one." Guido pointed to his hat, which was a few yards away from where he was standing. "I really like that hat. So, you understand I want to finish this quickly, lest it warrant some concern." A smile crept upon the scientist turned hunter's face. "I'll have to subdue you and recieve that hat in one movement, I'm afraid.
The stranger's brash cockiness has struck a nerve in the dark, but mighty, centaur, who flung up his body, finding stability with only his hind legs, before letting out a terrific cry and propelling himself towards the intruder. His mighty hooves caused the earth to tremor, like the rumbling advance of a locomotive. Irritatingly, however, the man who had just shown such unproven confidence, furthered his claims by showing no fluctuation at the centaur's powerful charge. The man was standing there, smiling, not a trace of doubt visible. The half human beast clenched his fists, palms sweating. He had taken his opponents words for mere gall, but it appeared he had some spine as well. He had hoped his words had been mere goading, but his actions now spread the traces of fear which had already begun to blossom in his mind. No... as far as he was concerned, this was his forest and he was king here, his flanks were not as powerful, his arms, although not thin, or weedy, were lacking compared to the powerful appendages of the centaur. He laughed a mere flicker away from trampling the pathetic human.
...
Guido had delivered, as always. He was glad to see years of chasing other pursuits had not dulled his killer, or in this case, hunter instict. A sweep of the leg had set the four-legged animal sprawling, and a mere pounce later, a powerful sedative was running through his bloodstream, a homemade concoction Guido had engineered to last about 12 hours, to a human at least. The centaur was likely to wake up in about 10. Not that throwing a leg into the creature's path had allowed the scientist to get off scot-free. His left leg was badly bruised, but that had been part of his plan too. He didn't want to seem too skilled, otherwise he may have seemed more suspicious than he already did. Finally, Guido placed his hat atop his head. Whilst crouching, and forcing a leg into the beast's path, he had reached out for it. By placing it in the final moments, it added to the drama of the scene. It was a pity no-one had been there to watch. Sigh. It was probably for the best. Guido took a look at his watch, and decided, for a little while, to sit, resting his head against his quarry's underbelly. A few minuites or so, to make the scuffle seem more of a struggle, between an untrained scientist, and a majestic beast of the forest. He took a deep breath, and allowed himself to appreciate the finer things in life for moment.
Hm. That leg actually kinda hurt.
((I'll post again in a couple posts, prolly, how long is a few minutes in Gaia time? smile ))

Bhaltair had been about to speak when Angela showed up. The centaur furrowed his brows & stomped his feet nervously, knowing the woman would notice that Alek was not a member of her staff - she tended to remember everyone. Once she drew the shotgun he'd been trying to figure out how to step in without jepoardising his own guise in the facility. But, as it happened, he didn't need to do anything....
Lilith had looked up rather absent-mindedly when she'd been addressed by the female, not really concerned by her presence. Until she pointed the gun at Alek. The succubus - seeing her best chance at immortality put in danger - shrieked & spread her large wings, rushing towards the door. Bhaltair had not yet closed the cell door so Lilith had a clear shot at Angela. The demon's eyes glowed bright red & she lengthened her claws while baring her rather sharp teeth. Her scorpion-like tail lashed dangerously behind her, a vicous barb extending from the tip. She probably would have connected with the woman, had the massive chest of the centaur not gotten in her way. Bhaltair had leapt in the path of the furious succubus, stopping her from potentially wounding anyone else; though he took a pretty nasty gash across his chest (the horse part). The centaur quickly used his human arms to grab the succubus & pin her arms to her sides, trying to pin her tail with a hoof.

Alek dropped to the floor and rolled underneath Bhaltair, the shotgun having been knocked away by the centaur crossing between him and Angela to stop the charging succubus. The ancient man stood back up beside Angela and adjusted his tinted glasses, catching a quick glimpse of her name-tag. "That is hardly the way to greet your superior officer Angela." He technically was her superior officer, but he had since been removed from his post, he was just hoping that she was one of the majority of workers at the facility that hadn't been informed of his current status as a wanted man.

Adrastos watched the other fly, only moving his eyes, his head may be that of a birds but the mobilty of his eyes was not the same. He stood up, swinging his head around so he was looking infront of him again and started to run. Adrastos knew where a human facility was located and began to head in its direction. He knew it was a foolish thing to do but he wanted to see if he could find out anything about their plans.

The imposing facility came into Guido's sight, presenting a stark contrast to the forest which surrounded it. It had taken a while, but he had stumbled back to civilization, using his cane to take weight off the damaged leg. It was ironic, Guido thought, that the item that he had carried around due to having grown a fondness towards it, had finally been used for the precise reason it was created. As he closed on the facility, he flicked a cigarette butt on to the ground, embers still glowing at the tip. Sure, it was a bad habit, but there were always moments, when the scientist found himself needing some escaped.
Finally, he dragged his body through the door, limping as he went. He could walk perfectly, with a wince, but had decided to play up the wounds of his battle. He was battle-hardened, but he didn't particularly want people knowing. In his mind, the less you knew about someone the better, lest some dangerous attachment finds itself throwing you into danger's path. That was Guido's way of survivng anyway. He lifted the GPS type object out of his pocket, and used it to contact Angela. "I managed to take it down. But it might need to be picked up by some of your people. Its still where you told me to go, so... uh..." He hadn't really considered what he would do now. Guido supposed that, if he were to find who he was looking for, in a worst-case scenario, he'd find them captured. It was as good a lead as any. "I've earned your trust now, right? Can I check out the cells in this place. I feel... it would... broaden my horizons."
Guido knew he could turn up down there anyway, he had the authority, but he was hoping his gentlemanly act was coming off. It was nice to be trusted, and it was always good to have another contact. Perhaps the head researcher could help him out in the future too, somehow. He'd think about t at the time...

Angela had grumbled in complaint to Alek darting out of the way, but when she realised Bhaltair had saved her, she was stunned. The impressive centaur that towered over Angela was holding the succubus still, using his arms, and her tail down by his hoof. "Thank you Bhaltair, it is good to see your training did not go amiss," Angela thanked, it was highly formal - something that had become a habit in the head researcher, but the message behind it was entirely sincere. Her life was still intact thanks to the creature. Angela now turned to Alek and glared at him as his words passed his lips. "Excuse me? Now, removed from post is it? What for?" Angela asked, taking a threatening step towards the male.
Angela, to most, was intimidating, but she wasn't one of the best fighters around. She was intellegent, and yet she had been kept in the dark about Alek being wanted. She had indeed been told he had been removed, but the reasons why and his current status appeared to be a need-to-know situation. Angela jumped and was startled as her GPS/Walkie Talkie buzzed and crackled, and then the familiar voice of her hunter sparked through. "Well done Guido, amazing feat. Right, well I should be able to locate it in a flash." And then her next answer to Guido's last two questions surpassed any other she had given a new staff member "I beyond trust you Guido, at the moment, I consider you a colleague rather than just a plain staff member. You have free will of this place, as do many of my workers that have gained my trust..." she glanced at Bhaltair, "And you may work side by side with some of the top members of my team, in whichever department you wish."
Despite having just been introduced to the man, Angela was impressed by Guido's ability to capture the current most dangerous free creature out there...or rather...the ones that they knew of. Angela then continued "How are you Guido? Did you get hurt?". And then paused, waiting for the verdict of Guido's health.
Falixus had paused to hover in the air, and looked back to where he thought he left Adrastos. But, instead of seeing the Gryphon stood still, the white pseudowyvern glimpsed the male running off in the direction of the facility. Lining up his gaze, Falixus saw the impressively structured building, and let out a loud bellowing roar with frustration. He had made a good job of being avoided, but now he had to get himself noticed, stop them killing the majestic half bird that he admired so. Falixus arched his body and tucked his wings tight in, feeling the grey spikes on the edge dig into his ribs lightly, and started to pummel towards the ground. Nearing the floor at an impossible speed, the wyvern flung out his wings and tail, slowing him enough to readjust his position and speed across the floor in a gigantic lope. "What are you doing Gryphon?" he asked when he caught up. (Sorry, long overall post...)

Adrastos continued to run, neither speeding up or slowing down, as the wyven followed him. He kept his fierce gaze forward as he answered. "I am going to atempt to gather information." He continued to run at a level pace, speed was not of the essence here but stealth was. The Gryphon knew he was fast and agile enough to escape and strong enough to fight off whatever the humans had to throw at him so he had no fear of being captured. Although, he was willing to be taken if it gave him a chance to stop what the humans were doing or at least free some of their captives, he was confident he would be able to escape. Adrastos was a noble beast and could not stand the thought of what might be happening to the creatures that had been captured.

Lilith continued to shreik & struggle in Bhaltair's grip, despite it being obvious that he was not going to let go. Despite the strength she had received from the immortal's life force, she was still no where near powerful enough to break the grip of a battle-hardened centaur. She eventually began to calm down, especially once she realised that Alek was not going to get shot. With a sigh she fell limp in his grip, hissing at him, "All right, you can let me go now Bhaltair. I'm not going to kill anyone."
Bhaltair could feel that the succubus was stronger than before & it was quite a battle to keep her held; he was going to have a word with Alek about that. When she eventually fell still the centaur didn't release her straight away, just in case. The horse-man turned slightly to look back at Angela & Alek before carrying the demon woman back into her cell. He placed her back on her bed & bent one of his legs so that he was down on her level. Her tail was flicking dangerously & she wouldn't meet his gaze. When he spoke to her, he was calm & kept his voice low, "Lilith, it's not a good idea to attack the head researcher. This time I was able to stop you before something happened, but next time I might not be here. The people at this place could make your life hell, just remember that." With that the centaur stood back to his full height, a couple of drops of blood dripping onto the floor from the wound on his chest. He turned & walked out of the cell, leaving the succubus to mope. He remembered to close the door behind him this time, before standing in the corridor & crossing his arms. He addressed Angela now, "Excuse me miss Angela, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't threaten Alek in this manner. He has not commited any crime on the premises. If you like I can accompany him during his stay, to make sure nothing underhand occurs."

Aleksander listened to Angela and shrugged when the woman before him started talking on her walkie-talkie. After Bhaltair spoke, he cleared his throat to get her attention. "I'm the founder of this corporation. I'm sure you've heard of Aleksander, otherwise known as 'subject Zero'... Are you quite finished with that infernal communications device?" He pointed to the walkie-talkie/GPS thing disapprovingly.

Guido was happy to hear that she had gained his colleague's trust, admittedly words which had been Angela's not his, and quickly sought to take advantage of his new found status. "Some damage to one of my legs. Don't worry about it too much: after all, I did bring my cane along" he replied assuredly, leaning against his ever dependable and ever decorative wooden implement. Realising a certain hint of informality had wedged its way into his last comment, Guido quickly moved to stand more firmly, back as straight as was possible, as if he had been struck. "In anycase, I will make my way down to the containment cells now... Uh, but thanks for worrying."
Guido shrugged at his need to break the silence with another dose of informality as he moved his mechanical map back into his pocket, allowing relaxation to dull every tense muscle in his body. He figured that being so rigid and meticulous was something which just wasn't in his nature. In anycase, his curiousities, at least for today, lied somewhere outside such fairly trivial things. He was going to see a bunch of living beings that he had long since come to call "natural abnormalities", the creatures who were seperated from anything like them, despite being a natural occurance. Well, he imagined most were, anyway. Angelus was not an unfamiliar name to the evergreen scientist, in mind, if nought else, and long ago he had tried to keep his distance, but in order to find what he was looking for, perhaps it was best that he kept close. He had always kept his enemies close. Too close on some particular occasions, but it was a bad habit.
And so Guido made his way down to the cells, smiling to himself and reminscing avidly. Memories were underated, he thought to himself, grin growing wider.

Angela turned to face Bhaltair with a rather confused expression on her face. Here he was, subject zero, a.k.a Alek, kicked from his position yet Bhaltair seemed to have a certain element of trust for the guy. With a single nod, Angela then turned to face Alek with a glare. "Alright. It's lucky for you that I have the utmost trust for my team, Bhaltair, ensure nothing goes wrong." Angela ordered, before stalking away and pulling out her 'infernal communications device'. "Guido..are you sure you are okay?" Angela asked. All formalities went down as she became concerned for the male. Angela started to walk towards the lift and to the floor that Guido was on.
Falixus snarled as Adrastos told him what his plan was. "What? Why would you do that?" the white beast asked, bursting forwards and skidding to stop in front of the Gryphon. But, before Falixus could once again talk, a tall, armoured vehicle loomed over them through a line of trees. Falixus span around and slapped his tail on the floor, lifted his head high and let out a loud warning roar, his wings on his front legs flaring menacingly.

Eyero finally woke up. Her senses were a bit blurry, but she stood anyway. Her wings slowly unfurled themselves and she winced as they stretched. "Hello?!" She sat down in her cage, furious. She wanted out. And she wanted it now.

Adrastos dug his talons into the ground to stop himself as Falixus stopped in front of him. A low growl rippled in his throat as he spoke. "I want to stop them from taking creatures that differ from others from their homes and doing who knows what to them and I will do whatever it takes to put an end to it!" His growl increased in volume as the atmoured vehicle came into view. Adrastos came to stand beside the Wyvern and loosed a piercing shriek, flexing his large wings and flicking his tail in anger. His talons gouged at the ground and he tensed ready to leap at the vehicle before them.

(Not a problem Ari, have fun smile )
Falixus snarled, and jumped a little when the gryphon shrieked, but as the vehicle pressed on, the wyvern coiled up his tail, then thrust it forwards, outstretching his wings to glide towards the rather tank like vehicle. Falixus hoped that Adrastos would be okay...no, he KNEW adrastos would be okay. Falixus bit down hard to the cannon of the vehicle, two rows to teeth shaped holes no preventing anything from being fired. Next, he worked on taking off the doors.

Bhaltair nodded to Angela, his deep voice reverberating around the small (well, for him) corridor. "I will ensure nothing goes wrong miss." He continued to stand with his arms crossed until the woman disappeared from view, then he turned to Alek. "Right, let's get you somewhere else, where you might not get into so much trouble." He glanced at Lilith's cell, where the succubus was now back on her bed, hiding from view behind the curtains. The centaur then turned his attention back to Alek, "Also, no more going in Lilith's cell." With that he put one hand on his friend's shoulder & began to lead him away.
