This was an unusual contain, not certain of how to deal with things like this. I probably should've just turtled and nydused an expansion elsewhere.

So these are my placement matches. I was kind of surprised to get platinum, cause I definitely feel like there's been a drop in my skill level since September. I kind of feel like my apm's gone down too, but maybe that's because I've stopped spamming it early game.

Kasper vs Effergy
The Shattered Temple
TvZ

This match was pretty funny. I had no idea what kind of player I'd be facing, so I thought that I might be facing some plat player, but no. I don't think this guy has ever even tried the multiplayer before (he tried to expo in my main, lmao). He left after that, so there really wasn't a whole lot of confrontation except for when he sent a small band of units that were quickly swallowed by my lings/blings.

Freaknasty vs Effergy
Antiga Shipyard
TvZ

This was slightly tougher, but easily won nonetheless. I was kind of confused when I saw him try to wall off his expo, thought he was gonna try and do some sort of FE. I would've sent in my lings earlier if I had seen that his wall had holes in it.

ProjectX vs Effergy
Shakuras Plateau
PvZ

This was much tougher than the previous player. Really caught me off guard when he pushed earlier than I thought he would. Made me rethink my decision to do ling/bling/infestor/ultra.

Resnik vs Effergy
Shakuras Plateau
ZvZ

I told myself I was going to stop relying on this to win ZvZ, but oh well. xp If you know how Destiny's all-in works, then there's not a whole lot to see here.

TigerSKadi vs Effergy
Metalopolis
PvZ

This guy was so much better than me in every aspect that it really frustrated me playing this (probably a consequence of using that all-in). Ling/bling/inf/ultra probably would've worked better in this match, but I decided to do roach/hydra based on my previous encounter with toss.

Freaknasty vs Effergy:

- Worker Rally: You'll want to rally your workers to the center mineral field to minimize travel time. If the center field is already being mined then it's equal distance to either end of the fields. For workers 7 and 8, just rally their eggs to an empty mineral field. After that you wont need to micro-manage where they go.

- Creating The Expo: I've found that if you send your worker out to create the expansion at the natural at ~200 minerals the worker will get there just as you reach 300. If you're planning to expand at 15 and you're hitting your Drone timings right the larvae that will turn into the 15th Drone will come out at ~130 minerals and that Drone will hatch at ~200 minerals. So just rally your 15th Drone egg to the natural and it will hatch and arrive on time (this assumes you're going Hatch first at 15).

- Hotkey Your Scout: Self-explanatory. You'll want to know what's going on where it is as fast as possible and it's easiest to put it into a control group and double tap that number as opposed to searching and clicking for it on the minimap. Also, when you see the enemy scout, unless you know it didn't come from the place you're about to scout, don't change paths. If you hadn't changed paths you would have seen that your opponent was going 2rax and all that crap instead of dieing at the door when you came back.

- Efficient Nydus Drop: When you place a Nydus you'll want your units already in the hub or at the very least entering it. That way you can start unloading them as soon as it pops instead of waiting like you had to in this game.

ProjectX vs Effergy:

- Know The Spawns: I know you've been gone a while, so I assume you didn't get the memo. There are no close spawns on Shakuras Plateau.

- Transfer Workers: It helps with saturation and mining efficiency if you transfer half your workers from your main to your natural when the expo pops. You'll lose a little bit of mining time but given how fast Zerg can set up their mining the efficiency gained in those early minutes are worth it.

- Know Your Timings: Pathogen Glands should be started before you build any Infestors as the research time is roughly twice as long as the Infestor build time. To be sure that all your Infestors benefit from the upgrade you'll want to wait to start them until Pathogen Glands is a little more than 50% completed.

TigerSKadi vs Effergy:

- Again With The Spawns: Metalopolis has been revised as well. There are no close spawns on this map (and for future reference, there are no close spawns on Shattered Temple either).

- Beware The Pylons: When you're facing Protoss, when you go to build your second Overlord (at 9/10/11 supply) you should rally it dead center over where your Hatchery would go at the natural. The vision from the Overlord will let you see if there are any Pylons close enough to cannon rush your expansion.

- Creep Spewing: This is more me nit-picking. If you're going to have your Overlords spewing creep as if to create a highway you may actually want to create a highway instead of just letting them drop it over your expansions. :p

All in all, good play. Just need to work on unit control and little details. :3

Immortal Nobody
There are no close spawns on Shakuras Plateau

So my opponent will never spawn directly across from me? Only at the other end or horizontal to me?

Immortal Nobody
Creep Spewing

I just had them selected and figured, "why not?" Don't think it really hurts.

---

I still feel like my macro's weak, I need to improve on that.

Whooaah~, I haven't posted in here for months. o:
Here's my first 3 placement matches, they're kind of boring though cause they're all against bronze-level terrans.

Effergy vs Bramble
Entombed Valley
- first match is ironically the hardest (so far). Opponent tries to do some drop pressure and then gives up when it doesn't work.

Effergy vs ARTERIAL
Daybreak LE
- this guy does this weird barracks barricade at the choke to his base like he's afraid I'll come busting in with banes or something.

Effergy vs Flame
Ohana LE
- maybe a bit more exciting than the last. I deny his second and then just derp around until I get mutas.

I'm kind of worried I'll get my a** whooped next game, these three were way too easy for comfort.

Looking through my older posts I've discovered that sc2replayed is no longer online. So nearly all of my older links are invalid now.

mesa vs Effergy PvZ
Shakuras Plateau
- much, much, much more intense than the last 3. Player was only silver, but I got thrown way off when I assumed FFE instead of cannon rush.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 21, 2012 7:48 pm

KGtheBrony vs Effergy PvZ
Cloud Kingdom LE
- more cannon play from toss, though I wasn't thrown off...as much xd It was kind of stupid of me to throw down an expo right by his probe, but I felt he would have followed it.
And what's with cannon rushers? Do they not understand that delaying zerg FE gives them the chance to get a huge economic advantage? Are they always so baffled when their cannon play doesn't stop zerg?
My favorite part of this game:
>toss sees roaches destroy cannons
>toss later sees both roaches & hydras at expo.
> Reaction? ZEALOTS AND PHOENIXES ARE OBVIOUSLY THE BEST CHOICE TO COMBAT THIS THREAT, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE HARD-COUNTERED BY BOTH THOSE UNITS, AND PHOENIXES DON'T DO s**t VS GROUND.
It's like cheesers don't even understand the fundamentals of the game. rofl
edit: Thinking about it now though, he wasn't really a cheeser. He just pylon blocked me and delayed my expo with cannons. Wasn't really aggressive with them.

I got into plat btw. 3nodding
