[ Vyn. Oceanside. | Ethan. Petting zoo. ]

The girl seemed to take a moment or two before reacting to Vyn’s announcement of her presence and Vyn almost feared that she had been rebuked or not heard by the dark femme; however the other did raise herself after that moment of hesitation. Her wings that she had previously been walking on scythed through the air in a most impressive manner and Vyn could not help but notice their size. Even when she flexed her bat-like wings to their full extent they could not begin to reach half the span of the girl’s webbed insectile wings. Now that they were facing Vyn could really admire the gothic sense of dress present and in particular Vyn’s eyes were drawn to the other’s head features.

Clustered on her forehead were.... extra eyes. Vyn had once thought her black sclera were peculiar and would attract unwanted attention; however, in light of this new raevan’s features they seemed relatively normal. Each of the perfect orbs glistened with eerie depth and somehow... intelligence. As far as Vyn could tell they were unblinking and a slight tingle of admiration and fear ran up her short spine. The crown belonging to the girl was made up of needle sharp legs reminiscent of the frei’s impressive wings... As the cool words of greeting issued from her mouth Vyn could safely conclude that the spider webbed raevan oozed a perilous mesh of danger and beauty.

Good afternoon to you also.” She responded. The other girl was affixing her with a most penetrating stare and Vyn wanted to break eye contact. The purple stare was incredibly intense and Vyn’s amber eyes couldn’t help but narrow slightly. The positive first impressions formed after simply glancing at her were beginning to peel away and a more edgy opinion was underneath. Perhaps it was the lack of friendliness or her emotionless tone of voice, because Vyn had never felt such an abrupt wariness towards another raevan based on looks alone.

Despite this Vyn felt obliged to continue her conversation and from below the rim of her hat she fought back any intimidation that could possibly have arisen to show mild interest. “What were you doing?” She glanced downwards at the sand that the girl had previously been suspended over but saw nothing but a few scuffmarks and a handful of gashes in the smooth white sand where the tips of her chitin wings had pierced the surface.

Nodding politely and Falthe explained the situation Ekundayo had been through Ethan was surprised to find that more raevans had gone through the rehoming process. In one way it made him slightly aggravated – his experience with Vyn could only be described as positive and why anyone would want to give up care of a beautiful living being like a raevan was beyond him, but on the other hand he was glad that the LAB paid close attention to their creations. Making sure that they were well cared for and in capable hands was important and though he hadn’t thought much upon it previously, with this new enlightenment he could easily picture the considerate Italian individually checking up on the raevans in her own unique way.

In response to the red-eyed man’s comment on raevan age Ethan smiled widely in agreement. “Yes, I never thought I would have given a four year old a trip to Japan for her birthday. Procuring age specific cards which don’t sport childish images is near impossible, I assure you.” He chuckled at this before obligingly answering the other man’s query.

The reason behind me becoming interested in raevans and the work of Dr. Kyou’s laboratory was a chance meeting with Xiu. He was a frei at the time and barely more than a newborn. I met him again a few months later alongside Alex’s raevan Zul. Raevans are such interesting beings that it was unsurprising that I found myself inexplicitly attracted to the prospect of becoming a guardian to one. Thus when I heard that they were conducting a search for a new guardian for Vyn I instantly put myself forward for the role. I was called in for an interview and apparently I was the most suitable candidate.” Evidently he quite enjoyed recounting the experience as a broad grin creased his lined face. “I haven’t got any children, or grandchildren, of my own... Vyn has been my child instead.

(( Arriving, Popsicle booth (Hazaeline and Xiu) ))

With his hair tied loosely back and dressed in only his inner grey vest (he had left the outer white robe and arm warmers back home), Xiu watched the Summer Beach Party quietly from a distance, his stone wings flicking slightly. The party seemed well underway with many humans and raevans (both familiar and unfamiliar) going about. This was it then. The event he had been both looking forward to and dreading ever since Hazeline received a mail from the lab informing her of the summer party being hosted. On one hand, with a Lab related event of this scale, this was the perfect chance to get to know other raevans he had never met before as well as to catch with those he had befriended in the past.

On the other hand…there was that…troublesome explanation to do to those who had knew him. Xiu wasn’t quite so sure he was…ready for that and had stalled and dawdled about the bookstore until his own guardian had dragged him over and into her car. Perhaps she was right and he was over imagining things. He had read books about people being self conscious before and maybe…this was what he was going through. Maybe the lost of his voice and sudden growth would not be as awkward to handle as he had imagined. Beside him his guardian smiled reassuringly.

“We are here to have fun, alright Xiu?” said Hazaeline reaching out to give the Sigel’s hand a squeeze. “Look, I think I see Lazarus over there by that stall; the popsicle booth, I believe…,”

Blue eyes turned to the direction indicated by his guardian and Xiu was glad to notice the familiar figure of the fiery Sigel. There were a couple of other humans and… a raevan (Varun?) around the booth as well. Regardless, the booth was fairly less crowded than the other stalls. Perhaps he would start out there and work his way to the others later.

Still having his guardian’s hand in his, Xiu floated towards the stall. Once Xiu hung back, feeling unsure but his guardian was firm on this. Gently urging him forward, Hazeline watched as her raevan approached the Popsicle booth.

-------------

Having arrived at the popsicle booth, Xiu gave the fiery Sigel a tap on the shoulder and waved a greeting once he had the Sigel’s attention. Manning the booth was Zeke and Xiu felt himself relaxed a little. He knew the man and wondered if his virus-raevan had grown.

(( Drinks booth))

Kenth saw it coming, the shock from the drink booth owner's face. Under normal circumstances the doctor would have the same reaction. Yet, this was not normal, Xuelian was not normal, and she demanded food, in the most uncommon way.

He nodded to Kyou, taking the key in his hands. "Thank you." Kenth replied quietly and was glad the man didn't ask any questions. With no time to waste he grabbed Xuelian's arm and lead her to the back of the counter to the white door. Upon opening the door Kenth felt a wave of cool air flowing out of the little closet. It was definitely a relief, and his subject certainly felt the same. Xuelian floated closer to Kenth, wanting to share the coolness. The guardian patted lightly on her shoulder, then proceeded to enter the room in search for water.

The water bottles were not hard to find. Kenth located them after a few minutes, and carried them out with slight difficulty. He was in a hurry, but Kenth also understood that showering Xuelian at a busy stand was not the best idea. Taking the two bottles between his arms the doctor stepped outside of the room and locked the door. He looked around, searching for Kyou, but found that the demonic man was busy chattering with other customers. Kenth sighed and looked away, he was definitely not the type of man to interrupt someone's conversation with minor things.

Setting the bottles to the ground Kenth turned and hang the key on the door handle. Then, the man turned to Xuelian, who watched him with sleepy curiousity.

"Let's find a shaded spot."

There was no use for Xuelian's response, for the Raevan simply followed her guardian now that she no longer had the strength to reply. The two headed to a nearby shaded area, Kenth, already sweaty all over carrying two gallons of water with him, disregarded himself quite easily and snapped the bottle caps open. There, he raised the container over his subject's head and allowed the cool water to pour down on Xuelian. The dainty Raevan giggled softly as water droplets came in touch with her skin and immediately disappeared, being absorbed into the Raevan's body. When two gallons of water was emptied Xuelian became lively again. Her skin was more moist, and the faint blush retained to her cheeks.

"I am better, thank you." The dainty Raevan bowed to her guardian as she was taught how to act grateful. She then looked at Kenth with an expecting expression. She was full of energy now, could she leave and have more fun?

"..very well." The guardian shook his head, defeated once again by her brilliant expression. "But first..."

It's time to find something for himself to cool down.

(( Arrival - Drinks booth ))

It was a bright sunny day that matched perfectly with Irvine's mood at the moment. The tall man walked around with big grin plastered on his face. It wasn't his first time in such a place but it was with such a different kind of company! A far cry from the usual crowd of teachers who only talked about relationships, problems and work-- the usual routine he yearned to escape from. He had no doubt heard of the Lab before but the second he had heard about it, a fire had ignited inside him. The passionate Irvine became even more determined and focused on his goal. He wanted to know more.

The usually talkative Irvine stayed quiet for now, fighting his natural urges. After all, he had to make a good impression didn't he? He straightened himself up, flattening his white crisp polo shirt and holding his head up high, his trademark smile not leaving his face for a second. Apparently he thought this would made him look more becoming.

He walked around the beach, the warm sand seeping into his black sandals. He watched the people playing cheerfully along the ocean side, chuckling at the carefree children running around. He brushed his dark locks away and tucked them behind his ear as a bead of sweat trickled down his chin. The heat got to him faster than he thought, perhaps something to cool himself off would be nice. Letting his thumb run on his chin full of stubble, he scanned the place. At last he eyed a booth that seemed to offer drinks.

He headed towards the drinks booth, almost getting sidetracked with the interesting animals in the petting zoo as he made his way. He took a mental note to visit that place later.

So, her name was Anita? What a lovely name. Too bad she wouldn't allow him to take a photo.

Well... at least Ronan would cooperate. Maybe he'd snag a surprise shot of miss Anita when she wasn't looking. "You wouldn't have to do any special posing, I prefer action shots, anyway." Leo scratched the dog's ear for a bit longer, a huge, goofy grin on his face. "So your name's Tango? A nice name for a nice dog!"

Leo stood up, reaching his hand out to Ronan and then Anita, "It's nice to meet the two of you. My name's Leonard Gaiten, but you can just call me Leo," he paused for a moment, allowing each to shake his hand if they pleased, "I'm a photography student, freelancer most of the time. If you'll give me your address, mister Ronan, I'll gladly send you copies. And next time I'm in the store, I'll give you yours, miss Anita."

"I'm hoping to eventually start up my own business in photography; taking portraits for people and such. I've been practicing my manipulations. I hope you don't mind me having asked for your photos. Good practice, and you're both pretty photogenic."

Leo found it in his best interest not to interrupt their current conversation, standing back and taking a photo here and there; keeping his attention open for if anything else on the beach could be photographed. There was a lot of life today, making it easy to get great shots of just about everything. He still wanted to go to the petting zoo and get a couple of pohtos, but as of right now, he wanted to talk to Anita for just a little longer.

Glancing over at his original destination, he saw that it was overly busy at the moment, anyway. Too much activity at once was no good for a photo.

The heat of the day had finally beginning to set in, Leo began regretting having worn anything more than a pair of swim-trunks. Taking off his glasses, he quickly stripped off his green overshirt, shoving it down the back-pocket of his shorts. Thank God they were at the beach and this was excuseable, otherwise this would have been awkward. As if it wasn't, anyway.

(( Oceanside - Tag to Neon, Arana and Chrys ))

While watching Leo, Ronan and Tango all interact and speak, her eyes began to wander a bit. They found the petting zoo once more, where three figures were now departing, and one of them was Zul. At first, she wasn't sure he saw her but he turned and their eyes locked; by his expression, it was obvious he could tell she was uncomfortable and was ready and willing to do something about it, but she gave him a halfhearted smile and waved him on. She would be okay, for now. She was a big girl, she could take care of herself and if she got too uncomfortable, she could just walk away from the situation. If it followed her, well... then she would probably go to him for help.

Either way, she smiled a bit brighter to try and silently assure him that she would be coming to see him soon, when he was less occupied. What a sight, though, and it made her laugh quietly. Zul, with a woman on either arm, he looked like a regular pimp and the mental image of him wearing a fuzzy purple hat with a feather longer than his ribbon sticking out was just perfect.

Turning back to Leo and Ronan, Anita realized she missed half of the conversation but nodded along and smiled as though she had been listening. "Thanks," she responded when Leo said he would give her the photos of Tango the next time he was at the store, giving his hand a firm single shake when it was offered. She could use more pictures of him, so she didn't mind that at all. Then Ronan gave his congratulations and she beamed with pride. Was this how a mother felt prior to birth? Maybe, she couldn't say for sure but there was a certain tightness in her stomach that was building from excitement and nervousness. Sometimes she still wondered if she was truly ready for the responsibility or not, but her own mother had told her several times that no parent really knows what they're doing and everyone wings it.

She would wing it, too.

"Maybe you'll see them around here in a few months," she offered to Ronan, and Leo as well. The resulting Raevan would probably be a lot more photogenic than she pictured herself and there was little fear that they would be so camera shy as to refuse. Plus, when it came down to it, she would like to have as many pictures of her charge as possible. Putting her hands into her trunk pockets, she listened to Leo regale them with his future endeavors and she suddenly felt very useless. Here he was, practicing an art that he could eventually use to live off of and she was selling video games. She loved video games, very much, but there was little hope in her mind that she would be able to get anywhere towards assisting in their development, and so she would likely be stuck in game retail for a lot of her life until something she was equally as passionate about cropped up and there honestly wasn't much.

"I hope that works out for you, it sounds like it'd be pretty fun. Get to basically be your own boss and all," she shrugged at him sort-of-apologizing for having asked, but her eyes darted from his towards the waves when he mentioned she was photogenic. Out of the three of them, Tango and Ronan beat her by miles. "What do you do, Ronan? If you don't mind my asking," since she was already beat by one of her customers, she might as well see just how beat she was by a man who sprang out of the water and looked like a model, despite his assurances that he wasn't one.

The selkie accepted the handshake, returning it with a firm, warm grip. Hearing Leo mention that he preferred actions shots, Ronan realized a perfect solution, even if it was a bit of a cop-out. "Action shots you say? Actually, I am going to be paintball contest in a little while, so if you had to you could get your pictures there, along with pictures of the other participants. That is, unless you planned on participating yourself?" he asked, realizing that was a possibility. "There's also going to be a sandcastle building contest later. Even though I don't know if I will be partaking in that personally, you could still get some very nice pictures of the sand sculptures."

"Give you my address?" Ronan's smile faltered for a moment, but it came back when he fully understood what was being asked. "Oh, for the photos! That would perfectly fine. Do you have something I can write it down on? I live here on Gambino, but I think you need a little more than that for a mailing address," he said with a wry grin.

During all of this Ronan's toes continued to play in the sand, the grains making comical little boots as they stuck to his wet feet. Feeling that some of his hair had settled back onto his face and begun dripping again, he gave it another tussle then smoothed it back once more. It was at this point he heard what Anita had to say.

"I wouldn't mind one bit if I got to meet them," he reassured, noticing full well how happy Anita looked. Hearing the occupation question he replied, "No, I don't mind at all! I'm a veteran of the Gaian Navy, but my current occupation is a post at the Gambino Aquarium. I do a good deal of odds and ends jobs, giving tours, cleaning the tanks, taking care of the animals, it all kind of varies day to day. I also help train the seals and sea lions, along with helping out with research at sea, though the latter isn't overly common." Feeling like he had orated for a bit too long, he decided to give the conversation back to his company.

"If you don't mind me asking a question of my own, may I inquire on what type of being you raevan will be? From what I understand all raevans are very different from each other, and I am somewhat curious."

((Oceanside - Tag for Snoof and Arana))

Leo shook his head, "I won't be participating, but I most definately will take photos." He then pulled out a small, pockets-sized notepad, handing it to Ronan with a smile. "Don't worry, I'm not a stalker," he said with a laugh.

Turning his attention back to Anita, his expression softened. "It's more of just a passion. Even if I didn't become professional, I'd still do it." Leo knelt down again, stroking Tango's face. "I'm actually a little paranoid of it, really. Like when you make a job out of a hobby; once it's work, it's no longer enjoyable, you know?" He stood, arching his back to get the kinks out.

"That's a very large occupation change, Ronan. Very interesting, though. It must be great to get to work with animals."

Glancing at his watch, Leo took another look around the beach. People had shifted around, switching activities. The petting zoo had settled down a little, along with some of the other booths. "Would either of you like a drink?" Leo nodded towards the drink stand, shouldering his camera strap. "On me."

[[Oceanside >> Drinks Booth (Rivener alone)]]

Rivener frowned lightly, his chest giving a sharp twang of pain, at the way Zul greeted Cordelia. He nuzzled and hugged her the same way he did to Riv. ...Had Zul ever said I love you to Delia, too? Was Rivener NOT special after all?

Zul turned back to him then with a raised eyebrow, the unspoken words coming through loud and clear, knocking Rivener's breath from him. He frowned, his lips parting in surprised shock. Whuh-? How could this be what Riv wanted?! The Sigel was far from recalling the pool party, his mind much too focused on their more recent emotions, but Zul's confusion and slightly raised temper at least served to dull Riv's sense of betrayal and heartbreak. ...Maybe this wasn't about them not being an item. Zul just sincerely didn't seem to understand. Sometimes the Scorpion forgot how simple-minded and straightforward Zul could be, and Riv's mistake had been in thinking the demon would know that being an item was implied after two people mutually confessed their love?

For now, though, Zul seemed to be giving him some space. Riv sighed to himself, more than willing to have Delia pried from his arms so Zul could escort the two ladies away... But later, Rivener promised himself he'd find Zul and they'd sort this all out. What Rivener needed, more than solitude at the moment, was another drink. Or two.

Riv downed the rest of his creamsicle concoction and then floated straight back to the Drinks Booth, leaning one elbow heavily on the counter and covering his face. "Straight shot of vodka, please! ...no, a double shot. Make that TWO double shots."

While Riv waited for his drinks, he turned and glanced at the first people in his field of vision: Doucette and Pasha. Ruby eyes blinked at Melisande in particular, taking in her not-usual look. Even Raevans were dressing up (or in most cases, like himself, dressing down) for the party. "Hey, Doucette, Pasha," he greeted, unsure if the muse would be receptive to him. Sure, she'd sang for him when he was ill with the virus, but what happened during the virus was usually far from normal. In fact, Riv recalled how he'd rewarded the girl for her song...

[[Drinks Booth -> Oceanside]]

For a start, Isi never really liked starting or keeping up conversations, unless they were with members of his family. As soon as Rivener and Aphi meandered away from the booth, Isikoro did little more than pout at the Drinks booth for another two minutes, order a drink for himself and for Eiry from Kyoupi, thank the Doctor, and sullenly leave the booth to dodge the rest of the crowd until he and his ward found themselves at the beach front. it was quite easy dodging them, Isi found, which was a surprise to him considering that he was hobbling along with the gracefulness of a one-legged runner. Behind him, Eiry followed with the obedience of a page, carrying both his and Isi's drinks as they made their way to the ocean side.

"You wish to sit your weary self down?" asked Eiry after taking a long sip from his mint-flavored drink. He kept his eyes on their surroundings, surprised to see so many raevans milling about. There were a scarce few he recognized, and fewer still that he was honestly acquainted with. Shyness aside and curiosity abound, Eiry watched them all with the silent unblinking gaze of a stone statue, keeping himself a few feet behind his guardian.

"Yeah," Isi said, scouting out the beach for a spot that was out of the way of the sun. Not too far away from the waves was a large pile of driftwood, under which he could sit and tuck himself into the shadow. He made his way to that spot and hid himself in the shade, his crutches lying beside him in the sand. "Can I have my drink, Eiry?"

"If I relinquish your drink, may I fall free to the whim of the wind and wander?" returned the raevan. There was a hopeful hint in his voice. Of all the raevans he was seeing about on the beach, one in particular caught his eye, the red-haired beauty who was entertaining another woman, the ever beautiful Vyn. He hadn't seen her since the trip to the theater, and it was since then that he had received a letter from her he hadn't yet brought himself to reply to. He wished to thank her. So, shoving the drink into Isi's hands, he very calmly nodded a goodbye to him and floated away, his ethereal wings fluttering in the breeze as he drifted over the sands.

((Drinks Booth))

Melisande accepted the drink with both hands, nodding thanks at Kyou. "It looks lovely!" As the Doctor addressed Doucette, Pasha drifted to the side slightly...giving the woman plenty of room to order. Their conversation could wait.

She still hadn't taken a good look around, but Rivener's return was hard to miss. The muse's sapphire gaze traveled up the length of him behind her wide sunglasses...not in a sensual way, but taking note with an almost absent curiosity. The fear that so used to cloud her face when she looked at him was absent from her eyes, and her small smile seemed truly genuine.

"Hello, Rivener." The Sigel's tone was pitched much differently than when she'd been speaking with Doe. Pasha spoke softly, words meant only for him. The way he'd covered his face, she wondered for a moment if he had a headache. Balancing her coconut drink in one hand, she looked as though she might reach for him, but her slender fingers curled and stopped short.

"Are you...in pain?" If she remembered that night, and the song, it certainly didn't seem to be concerning her. Pale feathered wings opened slightly in empathy.

((Approaching Popsicle Stand, redirect to Drink Booth))

At the scorpion’s less than stellar greeting, Cordelia couldn’t help but pout. Hadn’t they gotten past all the awkwardness? She thought their last meeting had gone swimmingly well, but maybe she was wrong. Zul’s greeting was of course much more of what the girl had been hoping for from both males, yet being the young, one track minded Frei she was, Cordelia couldn’t easily push aside Rivener’s highly distracted and negative expressions, leaving a tainted nature on the demon’s hello.

With her own distractedness, Delia uttered a soft hello towards the unknown human woman. Unknown because she wasn’t listening carefully to Zul, not that she really cared since a strange human wasn’t top priority in her book. Before the black snake could even utter another sound though, she was being dragged away and the Sigel stalked off on his own. Immediately the energetic female started fidgeting around to see where the other was going before finally slithering her arm free from Zul. Flashing a fond smile, she quickly patted his tanned cheek, her silent apology and promise to see the baphomet later before dashing off after Rivener.

It wasn’t hard to find the Sigel again, yet she was a little unsure whether she should approach him now or not. Delia had lots of experience when it came to expressions and body languages, having had to embellish her own a lot when she couldn’t speak English. Rivener’s muscles were tense and his face showed tired exhaustion, which usually meant high-strung emotions being bottled up, a familiar sight to someone who lived with Ebony Shade.

Slowly and carefully, the female Raevan floated up to one side of the scorpion. “Riven?” she asked quietly, her smoky voice nearly a whisper. There was a brief pause before she continued, a dark nail aimlessly tracing over a still wet ring on the bar counter. “Are you okay?”

[[ Popsicle Stand ]]

Varun watched silently as Zeke tapped each paper and explained the sign up involved for each event. The Leviathan had absolutely no idea what any of the games were, or if they were even games at all. Seashell game, okay, that was fairly self explanatory. The redhead's eyebrows knit together as he pushed his bangs away from his face, distress apparent as he tries to piece together sandcastles and paintball. If there was ever a time Kinsey was useful, Varun was forced to admit, it was situations like these, in which she could explain things she failed to introduce to him prior to the uncomfortable situation.

Clearing his throat and shifting awkwardly, Varun tapped the sheet for the seashell game. How hard could it be, right? "That one. For Varun." He eyed Zeke expectantly, only to realize he'd left off Kinsey's 'magic' word. If the lab's employee was watching closely, he might have noticed the faint shade of red tinting the Frei's checks as he cleared his throat and muttered, "Please." After a moment of further thought, he nodded towards a second sheet. "And paintball too. Please." Stupid word. As long as Zeke didn't actually ask him to write his own name, Varun wasn't entirely sure that he could, he would be fine.

At least, until, Xiu and Lazarus showed up. The seasonal Raevan flittered to the side, watching the first Sigel appear. However, before he could really react, he spotted a very familiar white Raevan. He knew that Raevan, he'd kept him from Prajna and-

"You grew," Varun pointed out flatly, buzzing to Xiu's side as he inspected the Sigel. It was only after a few moments of silence did he realize he'd forgotten any form of greeting. "Xiu. It has been a while."

Thoroughly enjoying herself in the presence of such great, eclectic company, Lette returned the female Raevan's soft hello before being turned away and led off to sign up for games. Laughing at Zul's response to her request for protection she left it be, preferring to take the time between moving areas to scope out those that were at the beach. Man. Such a large amount of people had arrived, Raevans and humans alike, while she had been chatting with Zul and Riv, the latter having disappeared to some random place. "Wow. There sure seems to be a lot of Raevans. Makes me wonder why I haven't heard of y'all before now. And a lot of humans as well. In fact, there seems to be just about an even ratio of humans to Raevans. That's interesting." Glancing back to the direction Zul was leading her, she caught site of their destination.

"POPSICLES. That sounds heavenly right now. I hadn't realized how thirsty I was. What's your favorite flavor, Zul?" Eyes fixated on the tantalizing icy treats, she wondered at who the man behind the counter was.

[[Drinks Booth (Rivener)]]

Rivener felt a wave of relief wash over him. Oh, good, Melisande didn't hate him. Maybe she didn't recall the kiss, and Rivener certainly wasn't the one who'd bring it up. It hadn't really meant anything past a thank you for the song anyway, but Riv didn't want word getting back to Zul about it. That would just be one more misunderstanding added to the pile.

The Scorpion watched Pasha reach for him and stop short, asking if he was in pain a moment later, her wings fluttering with concern for him. Riv had to admit it felt nice to be worried about, especially by someone he'd once treated so horribly. "...not in pain, no, Pasha, but thank you." He, like she had, reached up to perhaps place a hand on her shoulder in gratefulness, but his action was interrupted by the smokey whisper at his side.

Widened red eyes turned to spot Delia, of all things, hovering at his side. He blinked at her in sheer confusion. Hadn't she just been with Zul? Rivener didn't want Delia here with him, she was supposed to be with Zul, distracting him so he wouldn't think about their little tiff too much! But gah, she was too nice for her own good, had seen "Riven" was upset and followed.

The Scorpion sent Melisande a small smile, motioning her closer so that all three could share the shade. ...It was getting harder and harder for Riv to keep feeling depressed with all these friendly, concerned people around. "I'm alright, I just got into a bit of a fight with my-..." He hesitated, wondering if he was selfish for saying it this way. Shaking his head, Rivener decided that yes, damn it, he'd be selfish. He could be, once in a while, right? "...with my Zul. It'll be fine, it was just a bit of a shock at the time. You two are both so sweet to be checking up on me, though." He smiled at both ladies, the expression devoid of his usual sultriness. He'd be keeping that for only one person now.
