Right, we definitely do need to talk about the structure for the main competitions (which is separate from the RP factions), I think we are almost all agreed on where this is going anyway, storyline wise.
I really do think a fun rules type event like the one Woe illustrated with her post would be awesome for some of the serious competitions, I wanted to incorporate it into mine, but to be honest I was so tired (especially due to the real life problems going on), I just sort of went with flat out RP for the last competition.
Arg I have to go to work 3:30am biting my a**!!!!! Later folks!

Looks like I got confused.
With all the RP talk and like, no contest structure talk, I thought you guys were combining it, and I offerred a game mechanic that could do so.
I mean, I signed up to basically just throw you guys my gold and a few drawings.

Woe - Haha.. throwing gold and art is soooo much fun!!
I think we are pretty well agreed:
- Fortress in the middle of where three nations join.
- An underworld that all the RP managers can rule jointly and can be designed by all/or someone who takes up the mantle
- The neutral zone in the middle
Still to be decided:
- Why do people from other worlds come here
- Where do they drop in?
- What political/war/whatever event is going on in the fortress at this time
As for something else, just an idea popped into my head, maybe we could make people sign up for the factions either in teams or single without team and sort them according to what would work best and their preference? Have we covered this and I missed it. XD

Haha, that sounds good... no one knows why they appear... the ultimate and easiest plot coupon - and the mystical portal thing sounds good, like Jitsu recommended.
Maybe they appear in the town center, in which there is maybe the Inn, heck it could even called the Worldspanners Inn, which was set up ages ago when the people of this world realized that they were getting random visitors XD.

Well the criteria could be simply that they are chosen by the Universe. XD It fits with the plot much better that way.
Haha, Worldspanner's Inn, love it! XD <3 Maybe it's that the portal is opened only for the contest? Probably part of the contest for the three factions is 'who can attract the best people'. They could have opening parades and shows and things to show themselves off to all the newcomers...?

I guess I'll try to type up my ideas for my faction so far, if anyone wants to see them? I'm just kind of brainstorming the internal things going on and then they are totally adaptable to whatever the wider plot is. I'm also working on something with Jet and Kim on what might be going on with certain suspisious people, and Zien on stuff between our factions. Of course we still need one more faction before it can be complete. XD

It all sounds really good so far, perhaps the portal only opens for a certain amount of time every X number of years, and the factions all vie for the newcomers to join them as the faction which gains the most supporters rules until the portal open's again?

No worries Woe, it was getting piled under all the RP discussion, which made it confusing. I'm gonna open up a thread soon for it.
Kim, what I really could use some help with is thinking of ways we eliminate players for the main contest. OOC did well in that area, so I bow to your expertise.
I'll try to draft something up tomorrow regarding the neutral land using all your ideas. It's my study day, but this is far more interesting to plan, lol.
