The moment he felt his unwanted companion let him free, he looked down at the looming dark water not far from him, and felt a moment of panic as he all but scrambled to the surface and getting closer to shore as fast as he possibly can without looking like something had him spooked.
He broke the surface and swam over at a normal pace, soon touching his feet to the bottom and feeling that wave of panic disperse. He looked over to her, and not being able to help a smile, he sat down in the water, a few feet from her. "you ok? he asked making sure his little maneuver didn't hurt her too much

A bit relieved to see him surface and make his way over, she returned that smile as he settled down near her. Leaning back as much as the water would allow her, Kay nodded her head with a sincere expression. "Of course, I'm a big girl, remember?" She jested, feeling that she like when she was human dwarfed a lot of the females around. "Just taking a breather, I haven't been swimming in ages and I'd be lying if I denied being tired!" She supposed it was the drawback of sitting at a desk painting bowls!
However, she seemed to be lost in thought for a moment, before looking his way with curious glance. "Personal question Banes...have you ended up being attracted to locals here? Sorry if its out of line, but....seeing as you were also a human and well; does it change along with the body when you were transformed?" Of course being curious of the long term effects of being here, and he did have many a more months on him than she did.

Once more he decided to lean back and allow his body to float serenely in the cool lake water, chuckling a little at her words. "I would call you a liar if you didn't say you were tired" he mused as he momentarily closed his eyes. Not for long though
He couldn't help but sit back up and plant his rear on the sand below the surface. "Truth be told, I was a bit of a skirt chaser when human...and you can say I still am, but..I haven't been attracted to many...." he paused wondering if he should add an awkward comment, but before he knew it he was already saying it
"I can't even imagine how sex works"

Shooting him a mocking look of hurt at his comment, she stuck out her tongue before laughing, noting he sure was a funny fellow; but quickly pushed the thought back when he responded to her serious question.
"I can see it." Kay grinned, resting her chin on her paw as her legs came up so she could in turn rest her elbow on them. She was usually a pretty good judge of character, and was sure the chasing wasn't completely one sided by his actions today. "So, I guess it turns around when you accept what you are and start seeing others as your kind instead of a whole other species...right?" It was her theory anyways, still curious to see if it had any truth behind what she thought.
Nearly choking on her abrupt laugh, she smirked ear to ear and shook her head to herself. "I'd assume it would be like sex ed back in high school....or well, biology lessons for the foxes who remain on their fours. I guess that's why I have my job though right?" Good thing, too; or else she had no clue what she would do with her time here.

he stuck out his tongue and then snirked a little bit to show that he didn't truly care, but was still just playing around.
"Well that's what it should be like...but...I haven't really seen that. I think that's why I haven't made any advancements to any girls...I still feel like I'm a human...even though..I'm not" he couldn't really put it in any other words, short of being obvious and blunt about the situation that was. He had plenty of opportunities to fall in love, but...he never gave it a chance because he would be falling in love with a fox
He chuckled lightly." I guess doggystlye would give things a whole new meaning then?" he knew he would have been slapped for that comment

"I see..." There was no use lying that she knew exactly where he was coming from as she tilted her head on her hand in thought for a moment or two. Although everyone seemed like they had pretty much human personalities and mannerisms; she admitted it wasn't the same... "Who knows then. If you figure it out before I do let me know alright? I'll let you in too; maybe if you're good." She teased and winked in that same playful banter; but it didn't last long as she sputtered out in laughter.
"Banes!" She mockingly scolded and splashed some water in his face before standing and making her way to the cooler with a giggle still in her throat. "At least foxes are prettier than most dogs..." She mused, and took a fleeting glance left and right for any unwanted company before feeling comfortable and grabbing her towel once more and drying her fur off.

"Fair enough" he said with a nod of acknowledgment. He leaned back and let himself float once more, disregarding her teasing and not noticing her little wink. He did however react a little to the splash of water. "Pfft" he said as he wiped the water from his face, really not going to take offense to it. He deserved it. "True I suppose...I can't argue with that" he grinned lightly as he picked himself out of the water.
"Are you calling it a day?"

"Mmmm, I don't know!" She called from the bag as she ruffled her tail till it was nice, poofy and dry. It wasn't late in the day, yet she would have an early day tomorrow heading to the shop; yet she wasn't sure if she wanted to stay out here till it was dark. "What do you think? I heard its going to be nice tomorrow, if you're not busy we can always come back. However i'm thinking if I want to save grace and not show up with a full body afro I should call it a day for the water at least." Scratching her head she gave a sheepish look, and draped the towels over her shoulders.
"Did you have any plans after your prior sitting in the sun all day? "

"ooh" he acknowledged as he too started trudge out of the water, deciding he was soaked to the bone and didn't need to be anymore drenched. Then he heard all the talk of plans for the next day and such.
"Well tomorrow, I'm actually going to be going over those mountains to the beach. Not for fun though. Someone from our reconnaissance team recently returned saying he found evidence of possible homicides...I have to go investigate them" he said with a more serious tone. He still had a hint of the lazy bug as there was no easy way to get out there and he would be camping in the forest as it was a 2 hour hike.
"I would offer an invitation, but I'm sure you have better things to do....that and it's not...very safe...but what isn't anymore?" he said rubbing the back of his head. He wish he could have some company, but he wasn't going to ask it of her

"The beach?" Immediately her interest was perked, as much as she loved the lake to swim and preferred it...there was just always something magical about the ocean. Well, until she heard the part about homicides; and as much as that sounded appealing....it really didn't.
Ahhh but the ocean! ....dead bodies....warm sand...possible maggots....spending more time with Banes...
"Hey now...I'm a big girl. Who says I can't handle possible homicides!" She mused, obviously in a playful manner due to the serious implications. "I have a meeting to go to at nine, shouldn't take more than an hour if you don't have to leave at the break of dawn? I could use the time away and to see the lands. Well, if you'll have me..."

He watched as her obvious train of thought looked at the pros and cons of his future destination. He could only secretly wonder what exactly she was comparing.
"Well I would enjoy the company. Stop by the station when your done tomorrow and I'll get you some protective gear...mainly just body armor and a gun.....if that is I can find one" his expression of one that predicted future problems.
"Just be sure to tell the AI at the front desk you are looking for me...He's gotten......weird lately...but..You'll see what I mean tomorrow" he cautioned, rubbing the back of his head and grinning nervously.
"You know where the PD is right?"

"Excellent!" The vixen chimed, glad she had come to the decision to go after all; it would be great to go exploring. "Is this an overnight trip or will we be back same day?" She inquired as immediately she knew she'd have to add packing into her agenda, yet when me mentioned body armor and a gun; she seemed to falter. "A gun? Are you sure that's necessary...I might be safer without having one in my possession..." Kay sheepishly grinned, not putting past the possibility she'd shoot herself in the knee or something like that.
"Weird AI, got it! I'll come right over when its done." She put a thumbs up and saw that he was soaked, holding her towel out in case he wanted to dry off. Then of course, realizing she didn't know where it was.
"Ah....yeah about that...no freakin' clue!"

"Trust me..you'll want a gun. Even if it's just loaded with bean bag rounds, it's still better than having nothing" he nodded knowing full well that if it weren't for his, he wouldn't have an arm.
"It's a week long observation. They built a temporary cabin in the forest nearby, so all you would really need is food and whatever you want to bring with you" he explained. "but..food is provided and we have a runner who checks on us every few days, so it will just be stuff that you may want for comfort food" he added with a nod. He fluffed out his hair in trying to get the water out, bu as for the rest of his body he could care less
"It's not hard to find. Just take the farthest left path when you leave the shop entrance and follow it...you should see a Police station about a mile in, and it's easy to find"

"Well, Beanbags I think I can handle then!" She gave a bit of a sheepish smile as she crouched down and rummaged around the cooler for her candy and popped one into her mouth as she listened. A week hmm? She was sure she would be able to get it off before starting her hopefully full time position, so she didn't see much problem there.
"Comfort food? I guess that means half my pack should be chocolate hmm?" Kay laughed, shaking her head and folding her towel neatly on her lap.
"Well, I think that sounds like an adventure to me! I'll make sure to be ready...but then I should probably head out now or I'll be packing and getting organized well into the night." Hopefully she wouldn't get lost, as she knew she'd write it down once she was home anyways. Zipping the bag up after putting her towel in and heaved it over her shoulder. "See you tomorrow then, Banes?" She couldn't help but smile with the excitement, since it was going to be her first time heading out since she arrived.

He chuckled at her comment of chocolate, and he smiled. "Shouldn't be too bad then?" he said as he fixed his hair to be slicked back. Just how he liked it.
"Yup..No problem. I'll get your stuff ready tomorrow when you come...remember, rampant AI." he reminded her as he walked over to where he had discarded his things from when they arrived, picking them up and preparing to leave
