She shrugged for a small bit and thanked the waitress, munching on her hard-boiled eggs. Nothing like a bit of egg to get you jumpstarted, really (although it could have used a bit more salt)! "Hn, in any case, once we get you some new clothes and such, we're going to get some more info. Do you like beer by any chance?" Penn ate another hard-boiled egg and thought about it for a moment.

Salna may know something about disappearing ships; she regularly converses with people who are rather unsavory, and some only drop by at the Cove to hide from the police or from other pirates. But airship pirates... they struck fear into the cold hearts of even the fallen angel at the piano or the group of kirin in the corner playing mahjong. Especially, according to rumors, a particularly vicious airship pirate who was supposedly "pulled through dimensions". Not a shred of mercy or sanity and whatever is left of his heart might be black, shriveled, and smelling of brimstone.

In the process of putting the last egg in her mouth, she accidentally bit too hard and drew blood. "Mrf," was the only thing she could say at this point. Those looking on from outside Penn's head would notice her face being very serious, almost a grimace, if she thought about whatever she was thinking any harder.

“Uh yeah, of course I like beer.” Well sort of…it never really affected him anymore pretty much like how food works. Beer just tastes a lot more like piss now; harder stuff is better. He was already bored and lazily munching on the lettuce leaves. At this point Sinsario thought it to be okay to look at the customers again; see how they’re reacting now.

Just a lot of hushed voices, sometimes a loud word then back to a low whisper; nothing interesting.

Did notice a young tired looking man though, he kept tapping at the table. The lad took out his own pocket watch and peeked at the time; that was interesting. Sinsario could hear the many ticks of the watch from a distance, but no one else paid any heed. He likes watches, the gears of a good watch were always a pleasure; he basked at its sounds for a second longer before the lad closed it. Too bad.

“Mrf”

His head snapped toward Penn’s direction, she looked way too serious. “Hmm? Something wrong?”

She took her fingers out of her mouth -they were bleeding, but nothing serious- and chewed on her egg. When she was done, Penn answered Sinsario's question: "Rumors. Thinking about those rumors, like the ones I hear near my home. A strange man, very strange." And in as low a voice as she could manage, "A golden claw and eyes that reveal nor reflect nothing. I'd hate to be right if this was the guy that took your tree."

Her eyes rolled to see her fingers. They still bled, but not at the intensity of the original bit, which wasn't much in the first place. Still... Penn thought about another thing, a scenario: let's say she was right, the man with the golden claw was the same man that took Sinsario's casimir tree. And the same rumors of this man having strength coming close to even the demigods was true, or that his claw has poisoned tips... and the final rumor, that even his own airship was a monster... she was no opponent for this man, whoever he was, and Sinsario was lucky to survive, if this was the same man he escaped from.

"Looks like I got a second reason to talk to Salna." She chuckled, her face loosening up. "One for info, another for a nice drink."

(General response to Fylk)

In all the confusion and all the commotion Amy hadn't noticed the young man tapping his fingers on his table. It wasn't that she was intentionally ignoring the man she had customers that sat down before him. If Lin and Sarah were coherent one or both of them would probably give Amy an earful about forgetting to pay attention to other customers.

Amy went over to the table with the young man tapping his fingers. She could tell he was a bit impatient because she had taken a bit too long to notice he was there. Amy put an apologetic look upon her face and held her notepad to take his order.

"I'm very sorry sir. In all the confusion and commotion I must have missed seeing you come in," Amy apologized, "Now then, what can I get for you sir?"

Even with all the commotion over, Penn didn't notice the man walk in, sit down, and tap his fingers on the counter. He didn't seem noticeable enough. But she did catch the sound of gears and cogs moving in a pocket watch. The clicks sounded a little too... perfect. Yes, all of them had a flaw and this one sounded like it had none. But she ignored it, labeled the effect as a kind of hearing slip-up, and continued to think over those increasingly horrible rumors.

Petite had managed to get lost shortly after leaving the tavern. At the present, she was now just poking her head in random buildings, windows, or stalls to ask if it was home to some sort of medical official or specialist. Of course, as soon as she entered the current building, the scent of noodles, tea, and other deliciously scented delicacies forced her to stop.

She stood in the entrance, watching the current patrons, some of whom were in the tavern earlier. Including the strange, drunken man. The atmosphere was little different than the tavern, but at least it smelled better. With current employees busy, Petite weighed her options. Remain for a decent meal or continue her search for the mysterious marvels of modern medicine.

"Oh, what a bother." Petite muttered, standing to the side of the doorway to allow anyone else to exit and enter undisturbed. Her eyes fell on a peculiar looking man, who looked rather...rotten. Literally. She couldn't help but stare and attempt to come to a logical conclusion to his condition, but nothing came to mind. Not once did it occur to her that she was being quite rude, standing and staring at the man, though...it wasn't often that one came across an individual with rotting skin.

She looked at her empty plate for a few seconds, and then at Sinsario again. For a brief moment, she wondered of how he would look if he were still alive. No flesh colored blue and smelling of the deep sea, or a single eye poking out from a dark circle (the other dark circle didn't appear to have an eye, and if it did, it might be gone or sealed shut in its lid), and no hair smelling of seaweed and maybe a scallop. And in that same brief second, Penn spotted a girl behind Sinsario who looked at him with the curiosity of...

Of a doctor-in-training looking at her first cadaver. If that wasn't a pun, you could hang me by the leg now.

"Is there a reason as to why you're looking at my shipmate like that, miss?" Penn looked at the newcomer in the restaurant with a deep kind of emotion; it was either the cold, objective heartlessness of a judge or the silent fury of a newborn banshee.

‘A golden claw and eyes that reveal nor reflect nothing’ Comical, he was in deep thought now debating on how to respond to her. Yes the golden arm was there, but he never paid much attention to his eyes, Sinsario was too preoccupied with defending his ship and tree. ‘It is the same guy, I can’t tell her if the poison or strength rumors are true or not. If they are, he definitely didn’t use them on me. Was his ship a monster? It was monstrous but a beast itself? It was slightly hidden and I couldn't quite get the best look.
Is he the one that got to her friend? Must be, there isn’t any other reason why she’d care so much, I guess.’ All the while in thought he stared at Penn’s bleeding fingers.
‘Wow. What a nice little wound. When did she start bleeding? I wasn’t paying attention.’

He heard the door open but he didn’t pay any heed, it better be just another customer, he didn’t want more worry to reach the other patrons. Whoever it was, he could feel their eyes staring at him and it was not uncommon, just another person in shock to see a dead man. ‘Oh he’s ugly, he smells odd, why is his skin blue, is he really dead…blah blah blah, their usual thoughts.’ Sinsario didn’t feel like turning to look at the person unless they spoke to him or something.
Ah Penn spoke; not the other.
Which should he look at; the other or at Penn? Or should he look up at Penn and then the other? Maybe he should just keep focusing on the table.

Nah.
He glanced at Penn to check the direction then looked at the other. Ah...someone pleasurable to look at; she’s cute.

((I link a better descritpion of the character once he's done. I'm going to use the previous avatar.))

"Something Warm, something easy." He said, slowly, locking his eyes with those of his waitress. He placed two gold ducats, of the old and ancient make the airship crews sometimes carried. From the makings it was ancient, centuries old yet still it held the shine of a newly minted piece. It held a soft gleam that seemed to echo his eyes. For a moment it was as if they two were joined in some soft, ancient song that was already worn when the world was still young. With this moments passing the world seemed more dull, like tired leather that awakes the oilmen's rag to bring it back to life. "This should cover my bill. But tell me, what news is there of the port. I have been long away from these lands and news travels slowly."

Petite continued to stare, half ignoring the woman's question, though not out of disinterest, but lack of proper response. She set her bag down and took a step forward, managing to pull her eyes away from the fascinating sight and looked at the woman thoughtfully, "I'm...sorry. I've just never...seen anyone so...blue."

'Blue?' Petite scolded herself inwardly for the silly explanation. What sort of response was that? She'd seen plenty of blue skinned creatures in the world. She considered leaving, collecting her belongings and preparing to leave, but a thought stopped her and she turned back to the woman and blue man, "Are you afflicted with Aging? Is this a result of the disease? Or..." She placed a hand on her hip, "...wait...did you say shipmate?"

A rare occurrence that Petite lost her words, but she'd managed to become so baffled and so fascinated that she couldn't keep her thoughts straight. All she could manage were vague questions and an awkward expression of mixed excitement and embarrassment.

"Afflicted with..." Penn herself was baffled at the girl's response. She seemed human. She looked human enough. Her gut wasn't responding to the sight of this girl, so she had to be normal. Why, then, was she acting like a person from another universe marveling at Gaian things?

...hmm.

"To answer your age-related question: I do age, albeit very slowly, and aging in and of itself is not due to disease... so far as Gaians and my own kin know of, at least. And yes I did say shipmate. I would have gone with crewmate, but there is no crew other than myself and my lovely friend Sinsario."

Penn noticed that the girl sported a facial look that mixed excitement with embarrassment. The demon's own face lit up, a smile with prominent incisors (if you didn't know any better, they'd be fangs) and shiny white teeth. Her left eye winked, and she told the strange girl, "If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them. To the extent of my knowledge, at least."

As cute as she is apparently she is one of those not-so-bright girls? Okay maybe he shouldn’t think as such. But she is stumbling on her words and asking in strange fascination. “Uh…huh…” He nodded after Penn offered answers; he’s not so good with answers though.

“My skin is blue? Well by golly I never knew…” He couldn’t help but mock her slightly “Okay, okay, I’m dead, I drowned. I came back.” Sinsario rolled his single eye; he has said the same thing so many times, he used to joke about it until he realized that some people don’t really care for jokes…it earned him a decapitation once; that was interesting.

He wondered if this girl is one of those people who will drop to their knees and pray to their god over a walking dead man. Probably not, she seemed too excited about it.

“Anything else?”
PostPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 12:59 pm

Petite nodded in understanding. She herself had no one else on her ship, as no ship was required. Oh, how often she was called Captain.

"Well...I know aging isn't due to disease. It is a disease. An epidemic! It's my personal goal to find a cure for..." Petite stopped speaking abruptly, "Never mind. You age slowly, Miss? But you do still age..." Petite focused on the lady, uninterested in the pointy pearly-whites, pretty as they were. Perhaps she had a stronger immunity system?

"But, you..." She turned back to the blue man, "You said you came back from drowning? So...you didn't Age?" This caused Petite's excitement to take a full turn into disappointment. Yet another dead end.

"Well, anyway...uhm. Sorry to bother you. Thank you for answering my questions..." She nodded her head for an impromptu bow, "I was actually looking for some medical officials, though after smelling some of the food in here...I think I'll stop for some." Her eyes had wandered towards the roof, "Haven't had a decent cup of tea for a while. The tavern isn't exactly a world renowned teahouse. I suppose I'll be leaving soon, anyway..." Once again, she stopped, "Sorry...you don't care."

Once again, she bobbed her head and slid into the nearest empty seat away from the pair. She immediately began rummaging through her bag, producing a proper notebook, pen, and a rolled up map. She began writing away in the journal, marking the strange blue man and slow-Aging woman as points for further study.

"Oh. Well, aging is a natural process, if that's what you're looking for. It's the endless cycle of life. Birth, life, death, rebirth... there is no known cure for a natural cycle, although there are..." The strange girl had taken a seat elsewhere, and she had also taken out something to write on.

Penn coughed, and her faced became more relaxed. "Hmm. I've always wanted a ship doctor..."
