Zacharai, or Z'ai as he would now be called, wrapped his strong arms around his dragon's neck, hugging the creature close. "Brath, you are amazing."

"Nice of you to think so, Mine. Now, let's eat."And with that, the piabald brown nipped at his rider's shoulder and hopped along the sands to the table holding buckets of wherry meat for the hatchlings. Z'ai watched his dragonet sniff each bucket before choosing the one to his liking, snatching it before any of the other hatchlings could.

"Mine, come sit with me. We shall watch my siblings hatch,"the mottled brown said with a grin, and so he sat on his haunches, a look of beckoning in his whirling blue eyes. Z'ai smiled warmly and sat beside his dragon, feeding Brath the chunks of meat slowly as they both watched the remaining eggs hatch and Impress.

Avery grinned as the green chose her boy. She was an interesting little thing, well poised for a hatchling and undramatic. Definitely not for Avery.

If there was one for Avery, that was. The bet-taker's brow furrowed at the thought and she briefly entertained thoughts of her options, if she failed to Impress yet again. Perhaps she would leave the Weyrs for good, go back to her family's ways of breeding and betting. She was good at that. No, great.

Rolling her shoulders, she tossed her head again, focusing back on the eggs yet to move. She would be fine, fine, fine.

No, she would be devastated, but she would survive. Damn that Uuni and her Makereth.

Ahh, so the warbling blue had Impressed, after all. At least, Fellendar could only assume that the girl who'd stepped up to pry him out was His. He smiled, he knew that girl. That was Lilah. They weren't exactly friends, but the former Harper was fairly certain she was a nice girl, beneath the snotty sleeves. Besides, he took a certain pride in knowing dragonriders. Knowing people with more power than himself could always lead to something helpful.

The green nosing around the girls had also Impressed, and suddenly a third green burst forth, wasting no time chosing Hers. Fell didn't recognize the candidate that green approached either, but he smiled anyways. It was turning out to be a pleasant hatching indeed! Much less dramatic than those past, which was something the black-haired youth was absolutely fine with.

Veyes was quite happy to see so many easily impressing. There hadn't even been a real incident to speak of and that made things look promising. Although, he tugged on the edge of his robe as the dragons found other partners wishing he was one of the lucky ones. However, if he could make it through this hatching without incident that would be a good start!

He didn't know any of the folks that had impressed but he was sure in time he'd hear their names about the Weyr as the dragons got bigger. Hopefully, the choices made would be good for the Weyr in the future.

Even so, the dragons always caused his mind to drift in curious ponderings about the future. As the greens wandered and found their own for a brief moment, he had to think for a second about what sort of dragon might suit him. Sometimes those thoughts were more vague with many colors roaming through his head and other times when things were fairly calm his needs became more apparent to himself. Although, one could never tell why a dragon might choose a human as a partner. It could be for very simple reason but since he hadn't been lucky so far, maybe his needs were a bit more complex than he might have originally thought.

Of course, even as he wondered about that, the last green hatched had found her partner. Heck, this hatching was going so well that Veyes might have missed her entrance to the world had it not been for the drifting of his eyes across the eggs.

A blue hatched, to Weyard's interest. True, it would mean having a male dragon, but blue WAS her favorite color. And a dragon was a dragon after all, boy or girl. Oh, poor thing looked stuck! Luckily soon enough a girl (aha!) moved forward to free him. He was a rather fetching shade, though he seemed troubled. Wouldn't anyone though? Surely if she'd been trapped by the foot first thing at birth she wouldn't be in the best mood either. She offered a polite applause to the new pair and watched as they left the sands...the blue seemed calm enough. Really this clutch had been grand so far. No maulings...that was always good.

The clutch was turning out plenty of the smaller dragons, and the next to hatch was no different. A...rather big green, actually! It looked pretty calm, but there was no sign of impression yet... Maybe me? It stood to reason that, being near the end of her time to stand, Weyard was becoming a bit more anxious, watching the dragonets mill about. Hopefully she had a few years left to go though. If not, she could always get work in the Weyr helping out otherwise. No big loss. Right?

Jessalie almost didn't notice the green's hatching, so quietly and quickly it happened. What striking markings! Jessalie traced the stripes on the green's cheeks, even as she impressed a boy. She would have to congratulate him later, he had what seemed like a very nice dragon.

All of the dragons to have hatched so far seemed like nice dragons. Wasn't that wonderful? Take that Telgar, High Reaches had the good hatchings! She bubbled with pride at this thought, proud of her Weyr and home, and more importantly, because it made Telgar look bad.

The Delicious Cookie Egg begins to wobble once Bayeth is safely out of the way of the clutch, the egg shaking almost violently as the dragonet tries to get out. It rocks left to right, left to right before the egg practically shatters around it, shards flying into the nearby eggs. The spotted green that emerged bounded out from the remains, shaking bits of egg off of her as she moved. She was free! Finally!

Bellowing her glee she trotted through her clutchmates, pausing to snuffle about in a few egg shells left behind by her clutchmates. When she came to the Coffee 'n Cream Egg she bumped it gently with her nose and gave a startled squeak when it wiggled in response. Wings tucked against her body she circled the egg as it too began to hatch, a little more neatly than the green. The egg split cleanly in two, allowing the pale brown inside to step out and onto the Hatching Sands.

The green greeted her brown brother with unrestrained enthusiasm, bouncing around him and nipping at his face. She almost looked like she was asking him to play, bounding around and around. The brown merely blinked at her, watching her movements with a kind of quiet amusement. He let her continue for several moments longer before finally nudging her towards the waiting candidates. The green squeaked, nearly tumbling over her own feet as she hastened to compensate for the shove. Play time was over already? Aaaaw...

A brown and a green! Either could look to Veyes, but the green would be best of course. She looked like quite the excitable little thing, full of life and joy. That sounded like it could work very well for his friend, but L'thor knew very well that the subtleties of her personality couldn't be observed, and even if he knew her inside out he wouldn't know what she would want in a lifemate. It was all either too simple or too complex for a human to understand, he didn't really know which... Still, all he could do was hope, and hope he would. Veyes deserved this. Let one of them pick him.

Millet watched with glee at the hatching dragonets as they played together, loving how the green seemed so eager and full of life right fresh from shell. From the stands she hadn't been able to watch them interact with one another this closely so it was a thrill to watch them at play. The brown looks so sleepy and the green was so cute! She hoped whomever got them would be quite happy, as the young girl was pretty sure this wasn't her time on the sands. After all, she was just starting right?

Good luck!

She cheered it mentally to both of them, willing them on to quickly find theirs. The sooner the better, the sooner they could be together!

After a lull that had Lala shifting from foot to foot, uncomfortable on the heated sands despite her boots, another green burst forth, quite magnificently from her egg. She seemed a lively little thing, especially when joined by her brown clutch mate. He seemed to be the more stolid type though and soon sent her on her way. Lala watched with gray eyes, waiting to see if she would head for the girls, or yet another towards the boys.

Tanda grinned at the newest green's antics and the brown's good-natured stoicism. She couldn't help wishing that her brother had Impressed a dragon more like that brown. Of course, she had to assume Sakneth knew what he was doing, and no one could deny the honor of Impressing a bronze, but the semi-abusive nature of their relationship worried her. She doubted her little brother would ever be happy with that dragon, though. Not that he'd notice, probably. From what she could tell, B'shir had never been truly happy in his life. At least he didn't know what he was missing.

"I won't let that happen to you," she crooned to her stomach. "I don't care if you Impress, take up a craft, or decide to be a pot scrubber. You will be happy if it's within my power to make it happen."

Thinking some more about her brother, Tanda wondered if maybe a dragon like the green wouldn't be better. The stoic brown probably would have reinforced B'shir's dutiful tendencies. That exuberant green might have forced him to enjoy himself. She sighed. Sakneth was a fine bronze - and didn't he know it - and B'shir claimed he was pleased with the life he led with Sakneth, but she couldn't help wondering. Too much maternal instinct. Well, soon she'd have a child of her own to mother, and maybe the urges to look after B'shir would diminish. He'd probably be grateful.

Olla's eyes widened at the green's actions, what a silly little thing! She laughed somewhat loud and obnoxiously at the dragonets. The candidate was starting to relax, things were going smoothly, no violent or terrible hatchlings, and none that had gone between she shivered at the thought.

Her laughter grew as the pale brown seemed to tell her it was time to find hers, playtime was indeed over.

"You go girl," Oilla mumbled.

Faranth's sake, they were adorable [if such awkward, strange-eyed, knobby creatures could be considered so, anyway]! Avery stifled a laugh, like many candidates as she watched the playful green work-over her amiable brother. A push from the larger of the two and the green was on her way.

Hazel eyes moved continously between the two dragonets, teeth sinking into her bottom lip. She could feel the excitement thrumming through the youths around here. Two chances on the stands, and shortly after that, two less chances, for each and every candidate. And who wouldn't want such friendly creatures?

For his part, Iden -- I'en? -- was so absorbed in feeding his well-mannered, patient Salth (his Salth!) that he barely noticed the hatching that was still going on all around him. He was adventurous, but having that patient, still mind settled at the edges of his own was such a new sensation, even compared to the faint light touch of sleepy little Fern at the edge of his awareness, or the mellow arrogance of Pips --

Fern? Pips? Salth questioned curiously as she primly licked juices from her muzzle. Who are they? Her head tilted eloquently, one wing shifting softly.

"Oh! Fern and Pips are my flits," Iden laughed sheepishly as he cut another fist-sized piece of meat and offered it on a flat palm. Ponderingly, Salth leaned in and took it, chewing almost daintily. "A green and a bronze. You'll meet them when we leave... We weren't supposed to bring them, or you'd meet them now... Oh!" Looking over, Iden caught sight of Zacharai and the little brown that had been Iden's first touch of hatchling hide (it certainly wasn't going to be his last, he thought with a pleased grin). "Hi there. Amazing things, aren't they? ... Ah, dragons, that is." His smile was warm and luminous and crookedly happy.

Oh dear, now that was cute. Such an adorable, playful little green. It was almost too bad her brown brother didn't want to play but...he was probably right, they should find theirs. They could always play afterwards, right? Though she held no hopes of impressing the brown, she didn't swing that way, she watched the green hopefully.

A cute little green girl, Jessalie was sure she'd make someone's life an adventure. Still, she was energetic, a bit enthusiastic, and being so young, likely a bit clumsy. Jessalie stayed on her toes, ready to dodge if the little dragonet lost her balance or fell once she came over, if she did choose a girl to be her rider. Jessalie didn't plan on being in the way, getting wounded during a hatching just wasn't her cup of tea; and she would prefer if this whole ordeal stayed bloodless.

Find yours, please, she urged the two of them, holding her breath a little as she did so.
