Now don't be quick to judge cannabis. It's the people who use it in excess and have serious problems that give it a horrible reputation. Such as those terrible houseguests we had a year ago. One of them used to smoke pot all day every day. Once we finally kicked her out, she promptly OD'd and then died using
other drugs. She obviously had issues, and often heavily used pot to shut out the world and ignore her responsibilities.
I am not "quick to judge" pot. I had to do a debate on why pot should be made legal to use by everyone, even though I hate that s**t. I'm not quick to judge any of them.
Unfortunately, like I learned in the debate class, words mean s**t when someone is dead set on believing something is good.
And yes, it is a gateway drug. Once you start to love the feeling you get and want to get more of it, you start lacing the weed with other stuff, which leads to flat out
doing the other stuff. Many people have said before and again that had they never touched weed, they never would have touched heroin, crack, cocaine, ecstasy, or any derivative between them.

Used responsibly however, is a completely different matter.
However, the people who WOULD use them responsibly, don't want anything to do with that s**t because that's all it is, s**t.

It has absolutely no negative side effects, and there's a reason why it's used in medical practices.
Except perhaps the munchies that you get, and when you're stoned you're not thinking about stuff you're allergic to, or if eating sugar will put you in a diabetic coma, or if the two week old chinese food is still good to eat, despite the fact that it has a heartbeat of it's own and is paying half your bills while you sit on the couch stoned.
Except perhaps the 'calmness' you feel when you're driving.
Or perhaps the 'happy' feeling when you're taking hits at work, at school, or anywhere that you have to be HUMAN to function, instead of a giggling floor swimming moron.
Quote:
The only reason people see it as a harmful drug, is because of a test on a monkey several decades ago, which was given huge quantities of the smoke at once. It was suffocated. Any brain damage that was recorded was from lack of oxygen. Not a direct effect of the smoke. The entire 'Marijuana is bad' hype was merely propaganda that was blown out of proportion, and carried on to newer generations.
No, I'm not looking at that, didn't even know about it, nor do I care about that. I'm looking at what it DOES to a person. What it does to the people around them, and what it does to the people that are even indirectly related to them. I'm looking from personal experience mixed with what I've learned in several classes on the subject (of drugs, the effects, the access) and the stuff I researched for various reports on the matter.
Who gives a ******** about some stupid monkey? I'm thinking about the PEOPLE who's lives are ruined by the 'happy plant'.

I've smoked pot. Several times, and only occasionally. My mom lets me use it to relieve cramps.
Nothing happens. I don't see anything. I don't freak out. I don't even get hungry. I can think just fine. I can speak just fine. I'm still a fully functional person. In fact, it allows me to focus. Pain? I'm aware of it. It just doesn't register. Just like generic pain relievers. Except it won't eventually kill my liver. I take a few drags, and then go about my business.
Well that certainly explains the argument for the legalization then. Perhaps you should actually do some research and not just look at national enquirer for studies on the subject.
That said, yes, I do agree that it should be legalized FOR MEDICAL USES ONLY! As in, no, you don't get to toke up just for the hell of it. I have personal interest in AIDs patients being allowed to use it to encourage the munchies so they can gain some weight.
No, not me, my uncle. He got it ten+ years ago, went full blown, and nearly died from it. At first, the cocktail wasn't working. The cocktail is working now, his disease is even reversing and going into recession.

I don't feel I
have to use it. I use it when I need it. Which is very rarely, if at all.
It isn't addictive. It doesn't damage braincells.
It just depends on the people who use it.Like I said, do some research before making this claim. Because you've been proven wrong already. Even if the average person only tokes up once a month, he loses a braincell with each puff. Fortunately, it's CELLS and not IQ points, and cells (as we know) are tiny. Just because you don't feel yourself growing dumb doesn't mean it's not happening.
And yes, it is addictive. Everything is to some extent.

Hemp, a close cousin of marijuana, was banned because of it's relation. It was the most cost effective renewable resource. It was used for clothes, paper, and a number of other household items. One of the reasons why people aren't going to bring it back anytime soon, despite the recent 'green' movement, is not only because of it's relation to pot, but because certain industries would lose money. So they support the campaign against pot.
What rock are you under? Hemp wasn't banned from anything. There's plenty of Hemp products for sale everywhere. Have you never been to walmart? Maybe it dropped out of mainstream for awhile, but with the blend with cotton and other products, it's been found to be safe, even when lit on fire.

Perhaps one day they'll legalize it. Regulate it even. Have a legal smoking age, if they're that concerned about young carelessness.
They can't even regulate alcohol and keep it from minors, how could they regulate dope?
However, there is an argument that says "Once made legal, weed could go the route of cigarettes, being something that only the 'cool' or 'bad-boy' types would want to do." It's possible that when it's legal to gain access to, no one will want it anymore, since the 'danger of being caught' factor will go out the window.

Keep hating on the stoners. Keep hating the people who don't care enough about themselves to want to realize they have issues, or get help for them. Keep on hating the vicious cycle of man-made drugs and turmoil. Keep on hating the escapists.
I hate on anyone that doesn't take responsibility for their actions and live with the consequences, whether they seek alcohol, caffeine, dope, or stuffed plushie kittens as an escape.

But don't diss the cannabis. D:
All things considered, I WILL diss the cannabis. It's still a vile plant when not used by MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. When it enters the home of someone without some form of cancer, AIDs, or otherwise life threatening disease (Parkinson's Disease for example), then I will diss the cannabis.

I didn't mean to ramble, but it upsets me when people hate on it, since it's been pounded into everybody's heads that weed is just as bad as meth or coke and will destroy everything if one so much as sniffs in it's general direction.
I hate on it because I hate what it is and what it does. I don't care what you do, I don't care what you try and kill yourself with, just DON'T GET THAT s**t NEAR ME.
I also hate that when stoned, NO ONE REMEMBERS I SAID THAT!
Oh, and I'm a pissed stoner... Ask Sam, I get very pissed off and very easy to explode when I smell that s**t...

It's only my view, you don't have to take it seriously. It just upsets me is all.
I understand if there's a specific reason to hate it though.
Isn't it nice to live in a country where you can have your point of view and have someone debate it with you?

I hate the people who give marijuana a bad name.
I hate when people try and make weed sound like a god given gift to their problems.
