After reading all of the post, i have become confused... eek
I am beginning to think that we are all right. We all just use the elements in a diffrent pattern that suits us each diffrently. Weither its my 7 base, or Ivy's 5 base, or Galdrea's Physical and Elemental Base, we all seem to be able to do what we need to do with what we use...
So, that means we are all correct in our own beliefs! 3nodding oh absolutly. There are so many different ways of looking at the elements. There are the pysical, the spiritual or attributes associated with each element. Mainly this disscusion was invesigating what makes and element, and what is an element. There was no right or wrong answer. We just went through different ways, I know some got complicated. In all societies and cultures around the world they all had there own elemental system. All are very intresting, well at least to me. If you don't understand take your time and go back through the last 3 pages and look at all the different views. I know I like how Sucellus added in the non physical aspects in the middle of the mainly physical converstation. I would have totally forgotten that there is an other completely different way of viewing the elements. I also thought it was really nice because it was a very educational experience for me, and helped me organizes my own thoughts and beliefs and comfront me with others peoples ideas to give me a new perspective which in the hole helps me understand the elements better. I love discussions like this when so many people get involved and really make it intresting.

BlizzardRaine Your zodiac sign tells yeah what element you are That I strongly disagree with... However, there are some how just happen to fall into the element of thier zodiac sign. How we are 'givin' our elements, I don't know... But, i was born in Feb, and i am most certainly not water element...

Yes, I personally don't believe in fortunes since I follow the principle that no matter what you know about the current state of events, you cannot predict what will happen. This holds true in science. Not only are we (humans) unpredictable by thought and will power, but the very subautomic particles that make up the world around us (and us) are also unpredictable. No matter what the situation, you can never assume an outcome all the time there for I don't see how the zodiac can help nor do I see how it assigns you with the propper element. True that the stars we see are stars of the past and its like looking into the past but to actually decide something like that...I believe its more a matter of personality.
If you are ambitious you are fire, if you are fluent and emotional you are water, if you are curious to know more and easy going you may be air, and if you are strong and willfull you are earth. Now I can see that we all have different ideas of where the sub-elements fit in...but what I want to know is if its possible for someone to be a sub element such as the clouds or ice.

My element is Earth, because I have a strong connection and most of my magic is done so with the aid of herbs and plant life. My favorite past time is sitting in the middle of the forest talking with the trees. And I'm a virgo born in the year of the rabbit. -_-; wow how girly am I, lol j/k

I'm fairly sure my element is wind...I've always had dreams of flying high into the air, feeling the serenity of the apex of the rise, then slowly falling down only to wake up... ^^; Also, I always feel calmer on windy, cloudy days...Though, I'm still not quite sure I'm not water. Then again, since I tend to think I have a very good male/female balance of energies, could the two elements represent my masculine and feminine alignment? I used to think I was water, and I do have a fixed water sun sign, which has always seemed to reflect my personality.

RainyAndrew Honestly, i have no idea what my element is. My astroligy sign is Virgo, and chinese zodiac is Dragon, but i dont know what either of those represent in elements. Thinking about it, i could have a reason for any of them. I am absolutley fascinated with fire. The fact that it is there, and you can feel its heat, but you can never actually touch it makes it so appealing to me. To me fire somewhat represents rebirth, as in the pheonix that is reborn from its own ashes. But yet i love water. Water is one of the things your body could never ever live without. Water represents purity, cleansing, and second chances to me. It runs continuosly but never truly changes, its cycle goes on forever. Wind and earth i cant think of as many reasons though. I've always loved the feel of the wind, and the life it spreads. And earth, nature itself is the mother of all things. I am fascinated with all these things, for so many different reasons, but yet i dont see that as enough to make one my element. Wow, i just took alot of space ^_^; sorry. Lol, I think you and me are the same person. I'm a Virgo as well, Chinese Zodiac is Snake though, and I can't really choose, I'm debating between fire and water at the time, I absolutly love fire and am a huge pyro, but at the same time, I love water, the coolness of it in my hands, how it flows, it's just amazing.

You are both fire and water. Each person does not have to have just one elemet to them. Im willing to bet you have diffrent energies on diffrent sides of your body. Fire might be right, Water might be left, or vice-versa. Try focusing on a bowl of water and a lit candle and see if something happens. If nothing, then switch the bowl with the candle. To focus, sit down with your legs under you and out streach your palms and try to make the fire AND water move. See what happens. It may be very slight, but thats where you can begin to understand your element(s).

i dont know if this has anything to do with this .but i had this dream recently ,i dont really know what was going on ,but i can only remember some parts of it .i was sitting down at a table with someone and for some reason i put my hand infront of me and a blue flame just appeared on my hand and just engulfed it . so i started to play with it a little and moved the flame to my finger tips ,as i was doing that a heart appeared in front of me too , so for some reason i reached out to it with the flame in my hand and lit it on fire ,the flame didnt change ,it was still blue .then someone was walking up to me and when i looked up from staring at the burning heart ,i only saw their eyes widdening from pure terror at the sight of what i did , and then i just woke up .but when i woke up the first thing i said was "the blue flame the heart of the red flame ."i dont really know what that was all about but i thought that since fire was an element i should post it here just in case it was a sign of my element ..or something like that sweatdrop
any ideas of something else it could mean ? confused
