Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Watching Masaki practice, his eyes tracked the log which launched towards him carefully. As it neared, a swift roundhouse kick launched it upwards as he slowed the leg and stretched it outwards and the foot sideways. As he waited patiently, the log landed upright on the leg as he wagged a finger at Masaki with a smile. Lowering his foot, he launched the log slightly so that it would land on the ground. "Hey, that was pretty good there. You almost got me there cause honestly I wasn't paying attention for a bit. It's good to know there's someone else in the village with my affinity for the wood release....village....HEY, THAT'S WHERE LUO WENT! He probably trotted off to send out an official message about the Memorial Festival of Lights! Tell you what, after we get through with all the boring stuff, I'm gonna teach you my signature jutsu. If you're able to master a high level technique like that, you and I can go to the Memorial Festival together and I'll show you the lanterns for the past Mokuton users of Kiri in the shinobi area. Agreed?"
Without waiting for an answer until the boy learned the next jutsu, Sarutobi held up two fingers and then held up the third one as he exclaimed, "Alright kid, number three coming atcha. This is the branching fist. After forming the necessary three seals, by holding your hands out you can form them into branches with sharp points, or just thick wood. Each variation sprouts four feet of wood, and you can even just do it to one arm. You can use large blunt pieces to inflict blunt force attacks, or even use as stilts to go over something. As for the branches, those are for piercing attacks."
Forming the seals, Sarutobi's arms sprouted towards Masaki, one with a blunt thick piece of wood, and the other with piercing branches. He attacked to boy so that he had a better grasp of how the jutsu worked....and because he liked to play a prank or two on people he enjoyed being around.....enjoyed being around. Perhaps the young Masaki was growing on him in this short period of time.
CP: 180/180 Mokuton: Branching fist. A purely offensive move, the user turns one or both their arms into a brick of wood up to 4 feet long. This can be tipped with a pointed end, or used to "punch" the target from a distance. The blocks are however hard to move quickly, and may hinder the user's ability to block as well as perform seals for jutsu.

When Sarutobi launched a punch at him he simply grabbed the branch he was standing on and swung back to the ground, effectively escaping the punch. It was kind of an awkward attack, probably not too unlike Masaki's own a moment earlier, though the man could have probably landed it if he wanted to.Masaki glanced at their new training field. It almost looked like some people had tried to settle it, there was a nest of bamboo, several logs sticking out of the ground, It was unusual how quickly they had transformed the area with just a few jutsu. The only person Masaki had ever known about that used Mokuton was some Konoha ninja ages ago who could sprout a forest wherever he pleased, even on rooftops, to change the arena in his favor every time. Only now was Masaki beginning to realize just how much potential he had in him, and it made his blood run that much hotter. There wasn't much of a sealset for this jutsu, so it was pretty easy for the boy to remember, but he practiced them a couple times just to be sure. This was his type of jutsu, It seemed to be an all out offensive jutsu, you could probably block an attack or two, but it would be really difficult. When you use this jutsu you are devoted to it 100% It also seemed to have a lot of potential since the strength was based on your own strength before hand. A jounin with this technique could probably be just as deadly as with some higher rank jutsu. [post 1]
His hands flashed as he concentrated his chakra and then he held out his right arm, It promptly filled with chakra as if he were using the earlier jutsu but the log would be coming from his arm instead, with a pointed end to skewer any unlucky soul to be on the receiving end. Several sprouts burst from Masaki's skin almost painfully, but other than than a couple useless twigs on his fist nothing happened. It was as if he had held it contained too long and it just burst free. A frown crossed his face as he shook off the jutsu, the sprouts receded back into his skin and he rubbed his fist. He stopped quickly however, he didn't want to focus on the pain. [post 2]
((Sorry Sorry Sorry!!!!)) ((I think I need to play around with that description it's not quite right. However the Mokuton jutsu are up.))

((I think I need to make some changes to Masaki's personality after this. Since there have been a few small changes because of Luo's murder training.)) He was determined to keep going, as always, and went straight into attempt number two. He performed the seals then pooled chakra into his fist, this time staying just under that "boiling point" he had reached earlier. Finally his fist slowly turned to wood, and then branched into a log, but it was very slow, nothing like what his sensei had demonstrated moments before. After a bit of practice as the log grew he was able to make it move a lot faster than it had until it reached it's final point. He was confident that he could do it again almost as quickly as his sensei had. [post 3]
Now he had a problem, His arm was now a long block of wood and it would be incredibly difficult to continue learning without said hand.He needed to put it back. It was difficult, he needed to reverse the whole process in a way. He stood there staring at his arm, as he tried to "suck" the chakra back into him, but that was doing nothing. Eventually he started simply canceling out the Mokuton chakra with his natural chakra, and that seemed to do the trick. The log reverted into a hand that at least resembled his original one. He looked at his sensei as he waited for him to continue. He was still unsure what he thought about the man's proposal so he kept his mouth shut for now.

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l As Masaki seemed to grasp the concept, Sarutobi nodded a bit before muttering something and frowning for a moment. He had received no response about his proposal, but he gathered that could wait at least until this last jutsu was completed. Holding up three fingers, his pinky flew up as he stated, "Alright Masaki, you're in the final four now. This next one should be a cake walk compared to some of the others since you already know a shuriken jutsu. This one is different in the sense that you create a branch from the ground which launches off bark shuriken towards the opponent. Of course you can create multiple ones at once, or even use the bark of existing trees if they're around."
Snapping through five seals, Sarutobi went through all three methods of the jutsu as he held the last seal. First one branch formed, and then several. Soon, pieces of bark rocketed off of trees all around, headed straight for Masaki from all sides. He then spoke once more saying over the slight commotion of bark peeling, "See, something along these lines is how the jutsu works. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's just bark, it's just as deadly and sharp as any shuriken."
CP: 180/180 Mokuton: Shibu Shuriken [Wood Release: Branch Shuriken] A skill where the user has a branch emerge from the ground and swing towards the opponent. Released from the branch is bits and pieces of bark, that spiral off and transform into shuriken.

Masaki dropped low to the ground to dodge the shuriken, then stood back up and considered the jutsu. All this did was exactly what the suiton jutsu did except with wood, oh joy. It would be a bit harder to master because wood was less pliable than water, but the end result would be the same. He practiced the handsigns and reformed his chakra (A process that was becoming second nature) then decided to take things one step at a time. Create a branch, launch some bark, then figure out how to make the bark into shuriken. [post 1]
First he sprouted a branch from the ground in front of him, and reached out a foot or so from the ground, he concentrated so that the branch developed a really thick layer of bark so that there was enough to create the shuriken. It was unusual, and difficult, since he was forcing "nature" to do something unnatural. that amount of bark was disproportionate to the way it normally grew. He had it flick it's bark which did manage to go flying off of the branch, but it was just bark, and so it dodn't travel anything like shuriken and wouldn't do much more than annoy whoever it hit. With a frown he gave up and asked. "Umm, I know you said this should be easy but how do I get the bark so that it is anything like shuriken?" It was obvious at his tone that he hated having to ask for help, but there was little other option, especially since the more time they wasted on any one jutsu the less he would learn before they had to return for the tournament.

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Watching two birds play, Sarutobi seemed almost aloofly startled when the boy asked him something, responding without thinking at first. "What!?...Oh, sorry. Huh, well it's your chakra in the first place. The branch, the bark, all of it is you. Therefore, enriching the branch with your chakra to make it stronger, sharper, and all around sturdier is within your grasp. Mold it to your liking the way you'd mold water to be sharp and sturdy. That's one of the reason's Mokuton requires suiton to be an element. You have to be able to take wood and make it malleable. See what I'm saying?

He shook his head. "Not a clue sensei." The most sense he could make of it was that he needed to make the bark into shuriken... which he already knew. Even so, he decided to try some more, since that was all that he knew how to do. He proceeded to reform the handseals and channeled the chakra through his feet into the ground, another branch burst from the ground several feet away. Masaki had the branch launch a series of "shuriken" at the post that they had created earlier. Shuriken would have no problem sticking to the post and hopefully so would the bark. This time he had made the wood thicker and tried to make the bark break off in such a way that it would be sharp, While they flew much better they bounced off of the post without leaving so much as a scratch. [post 3]
Masaki reached into his pouch and threw a real shuriken at the post as a control test, and as expected it hit perfectly embedding itself into the wood. Then he pulled out another to look at it real quick, as if searching for some hidden answer. He threw it at the post and it landed with a satisfying thunk. Eventually he tried the jutsu again, starting with the mundane processes and then when he began forming the branch he influenced the bark, he broke it into several pre-defined pieces as it grew, hardening the bark, and shaping the edges into blades. Once more the branch flung the shuriken at the post, but unlike last time several managed to embed themselves around the real shuriken. Masaki approached and pulled one of them out, touching the edge he noticed that it was indeed sharp. It wasn't quite as sharp as the real things, wood simply couldnt get that sharp, but it was certainly something you wouldn't want flying at you any more than the real thing. Dropping the piece of bark, he turned back to his sensei. "Umm, maybe I get it a little..." he said. His mind briefly remembered something the man had said that didn't register before. "Wait, what signature jutsu?" It was perhaps a little late, but as good a time as any to ask.

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l As Masaki learned and seemed to at last grasp Mokuton as a whole, Sarutobi's hands clasped together for three slow claps. "Congratulations kid, you got it down pat. I guess I'll answer your question then." Rolling through fifteen hand seals methodically so the boy could see, Sarutobi ended on the ram seal. As he did, the ground beneath him seemed to rumble before rapidly breaking apart. A large tree trunk sprouted upwards, and as it rose branches and leaves formed quickly, one of the lower branches picked the man up as the tree stood in its full splendor.
"Mokuton: Chakra Akyo Ki no Jutsu [Wood Release: Chakra Drain Tree]," he muttered with a grin. "This is my signature jutsu, and the beginning to the ultimate jutsu of Mokuton, birth of dense woodland. This tree is in tune with your chakra entirely, essentially allowing you to move or stand on it in any way, shape, or form without using any chakra at all. Not only that, but since this tree is living and a living part of you, you can communicate with it in one specific way: You will always know where an opponent is on this tree as long as they're touching it, essentially allowing you to see in all directions. I'd suggest using this technique on Luo tomorrow when he tests you, I don't think he's ever seen it in all his travels and it'll be sure to surprise the guy. Lastly this tree has one awesome ability: It saps chakra from people standing on it or touching it in general. This jutsu is a three pronged attack rolled into one. You have created a source of wood, a way to see everything, and a way to disable the opponent without even touching them. Just watch out for Katon. Let's see you try this one."
CP: 180/180 Mokuton: Chakra Akyo Ki no Jutsu [Wood Release: Chakra Drain Tree] Creates a large tree out from the ground approximately fifty feet tall and having a diameter of fifteen feet. This special tree stays in tune with the users chakra allowing the user to sense any who touch the tree. The user can walk on the side of this tree without even using chakra, however any other shinobi that touches this tree in any way will have 7 points (a B-rank jutsu's worth) of their chakra drained every post they touch it.

He had to jump out of the way when the tree burst from the ground, there was no other option. The tree was massive especially for a jutsu. That had to use an enormous amount of chakra. The handsigns were more complex, and the end result more impressive than anything he had even seen before. This jutsu might have even stopped that zombie giant that he was unable to even interest before. His smile was unmistakeable, this would be a challenge, but it would most certainly make him stronger. So he practiced. First thing he could think to do was try just putting more chakra in the ground than before, so he did. However the end result was a couple small trees about his height that were brittle and dry. This jutsu was beyond him and he knew it. "Ummm... Mind giving me a little more instruction?"
((Kinda haven't been tracking his chakra, but we'll probably need to stop mid-training to rest/eat or something.))

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Sitting on the branch as he looked over Masaki's progress, he noticed the same mistakes he made the first time he attempted the jutsu. It was then that he looked up at him seeming to scratch his head with a question. "There is such a thing as nature chakra, and in fact very few in this world have the ability to control it. This however, is not your end goal. You must learn to recognize that this chakra is there, and in turn mimic its style of creation in a quick manner. The trees around you are ever growing, always moving. They are constantly full of life, and your chakra in itself is a living representation of that same natural rhythm in quick succession."
Pausing for a moment to let that bit settle, Sarutobi continued on. "Learn from your surroundings, learn from what you have already learned about mokuton, from the living constructs you can create, most of all learn from yourself. Think of this tree as you would a clone. Just as you have been able to create a wood clone capable of thinking and acting for itself as well as communicating with you, you must think of the tree as something that is alive, that is apart of you, and that is indeed sentient in every way. It is one being, not many. That is where your initial mistake was, you tried to create too much at one time. Try again this time, but focus on just one tree. Shape it to your liking, feel every inch, every crevice, every leaf on this tree. It is apart of you."
Leaning back on the tree, Sarutobi crossed his arms and rested on leg on the sturdy branch, the other resting upright with his knee up as he continued to watch. Hopefully his explanation was good enough for Masaki to learn from.

So he tried it again, to see if he had any clue what his sensei was talking about. Handseals, chakra molding, then focus. He focused on one tree, giving it form, he didn't pool so much chakra into it this time he figured it might help to build it slowly at first. The tip of the tree broke through the ground, and it grew slowly, as Masaki sculpted it he put more and more chakra into it. He tried his best to mimic the nature surrounding him, though it was difficult. the wood twisted here, branched there etc. It grew slowly, and he was beginning to wonder how to give it the unusual nature that would allow him to walk on it and drain chakra with it. It now stood a little taller than he did, but he was lost again. [post 2]
Not liking the idea of asking the man and potentially annoying him into giving up, Masaki decided to try a little on his own. He "inspired" the chakra he was infusing the tree with into remembering his chakra signature and attracting it. He weaved the tree a foot higher using this method and then reached out to touch it. If it worked out correctly his hand would stick to it like a magnet, at least a little, but all he felt was a light tingling in his fingertips. He gave in. "Ok, um how do I get the walk on the tree thing to work..."

Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Looking on as Masaki seemed to grasp the initial concept, he could tell he was still growing frustrated with the whole process of the jutsu. It became even more apparent when the boy seemed to breakdown and ask. "Oh that? It shouldn't happen constantly, more at will really. Think of your chakra as electricity, and then think of magnetism. In that respect, every living thing emits a biorhythm, or bioelectricity."
Touching the tree he rested on and flipping up and back to stand sideways on it, he continued. "So just as I said earlier to remember that this tree in itself is a living thing, and a living part of you, tap into its biorhythms to allow you to 'stick' to it. So, meld your own electric chakra with the tree's innate natural chakra to create a magnetic pull. As I said earlier, you have to be able to recognize natural chakra for what it is for this to work well." Flipping back down to his original position, Sarutobi motioned for the boy to continue trying.

It would take him a while to understand it, and a longer to be able to pull it off.)) Masaki stopped. "Natural chakra? that doesn't make much sense." Then he glanced at his tree, the top of it had already begun to "wilt" and dry up, as if it were dying. He stopped poring chakra into the tree and stepped back. The tree was dying before his eyes as soon as he broke the chakra link. It couldn't survive without it. He frowned and sat on the ground. He was going about this all wrong, that much was becoming clear. He crossed his legs as he considered what the man had said, rocking slightly back and forth on the ground. "What did I do wrong?" He muttered to himself. I made the tree grow with my chakra didn't I? what did sensei mean about Natural chakra? Why did the tree die like that? Sensei's is still alive and well. Sarutobi Mokkuzai Redwood of the Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Mokuton| Earth l ANBU l Flipping down from the tree, Sarutobi saw sadness in his face as he watched his tree begin to wilt and turn brittle. Walking towards the little one, Sarutobi held a finger up and reached into his back pouch, producing two boxes of sushi within ice containers to keep them cool, he handed one to Masaki holding a finger to his mouth before whispering, "Don't tell Luo I gave you food." He couldn't help but feel a connection to the boy, afterall they were two of a kind in many ways. Opening his container and scarfing down three pieces, he said in a muffled tone through chews, "I undersphand how fiffifult ith isz thu learn thishth. Buth, you'll get it."
Hitting his chest with a closed fist repeatedly to allow the food to go down, Sarutobi spoke about his experience with the jutsu long ago when he first learned it. "When I first tried to learn how to perform that jutsu, the same thing happened to me. My sensei at the time was a bright man and a very adept user of Mokuton. He told me that rather than forcing the tree to grow by pouring chakra into it, help it to grow fast and strong. Guide the natural flow of nature chakra to help it on its journey upwards and out. He compared it at the time to nurturing a child, something he was doing at the time before his untimely death. But that's a story for another time."

Masaki ate his helping of food gladly, enjoying every bite as it filled his empty stomach with it's awesomeness. He had indeed become very hungry from the training and the delicious food was much appreciated. As he ate he listened to the man, "And who is this tree wizard then?" He asked between bites. "anf how thu I hake thethe three gwow withouth makinth thethe tree gwow?" He asked, it didn't make much sense. He took a drink before returning his thoughts to the problem at hand. "Why did it die like that?" He asked before sticking more food into his mouth. The man seemed to have a much less groomed set of manners than Luo or LT did. It was a little relaxing that he didn't have to bother with such things in front of this man. [post 5]
