Raine flushed, "Ah." She blinked startled at being called mother as the word finally started settling on her. The pack always referenced to her being their 'mother', but she figured that they saw her more as the peace maker not an actual mother.
It was weird. How could a word have more than one effect on her? Raine bit her lip and slowly nodded, "It sounds...nice." She remarked looking up at Blake shyly, "I'm okay with it."

Sighing with relief, Blake gave a small nod. "Okay. I'll probably mix between mother and friend for now to get her used to it, but mostly, you'll be her.. mother." But now, how would he introduce her in relation to himself? He was Nina's father, and she was going to be Nina's mother, but they weren't together. So, would just 'friend' apply there?
He gave a mental kick. 'One thing at a time Blake!'
"So, you said you raised the twins." He started, refocusing his mind. "Are there any others you raised?"

"A-alright." Raine nodded, her gaze thoughtful. Would it be easier on Nina to see her as just a friend? Raine smiled faintly, probably. If she had a random stranger coming home and randomly saying that she was the mother without being the father's mate - well it definitely was odd.
"Well I haven't really raised any others as my own. The twins were about teens then..." That had been a trial there. Raine grinned, "But in my old pack I always helped the aunts with the children while the rest hunted." She nodded, "That was before they found out about my talent as a tracker and about my direct aim with a bow."

Blake smiled gently. "She's an older child, almost ready for teen years to come. The change should be smoother since she'll be able to understand what's happening."
"Your old pack? Aunts?" He said, tilting his head. "You mean, your family and family friends? What was that like? How many were there?"

"True." Though Raine smiled she still worried. Just because a teenager would realize...didn't mean she would like it. The wolftaur mentally smacked herself for all the worry. It'll be fine!
"Ah. My old pack we used to call all the mothers and older wolftaurs aunts." She smiled, "But a lot of them were actually family. Aunts that is. Gah, they were terribly protective of me and I never realized what personal space let alone what privacy was with all the other wolfs around me." Raine's hand fiddled with a strand of hair as she walked along.
"But I was raised mostly by my aunts, because my mother was killed in a hunt. While my father had been some random wolf that had just hooked up with her long enough to have me. They say he got too bored and left before I was even walking on my paws. Who knows?" Her blue eyes flashed with mixed emotion, "And they say my coloring comes mostly from him. Though I do have my mother's eyes." She laughed lightly, "Another reason my mother was over protective of me in that short time that she was alive. Because of that there were no hunts for this wolftaur until much later."
Raine shrugged, "But that's all passed now." She smiled lightly, "I'm in Riker's pack now after all." The wolftaur bit her lip oddly silent. Why had she rambled like that?

Blake listened quietly, his ear twisted toward Raine. His eyes dropped when she started talking about her father. Nina's mother had been like that, leaving her behind for whatever reason before she was walking properly. Should he be more protective of his own daughter then?
"Riker's is a good pack to be in." He said softly, inclined to say a little extra himself. "Nina has my pattern, the gray back and bit of yellow in her hair. She's brown though, fur and hair, from her mo- the woman who birthed her." His cheeks pinked slightly, as they nearly always did when speaking of Nina's birth mother. "Do you think it's a bad difference, being raised alone compared to within a pack, like you were?"

"Ah, she must be a cutie then!" Raine smiled and bounced a bit as she walked. Her eyes were already flickering back to a sparkling gleam despite the sad memories of her family. "A bad difference?" Raine paused in mid step and shook her head.
"Not at all! Why? Do you think it's a bad difference yourself, Blake?" She clasped her hands together, "I mean, sure it's different - but there's nothing bad about it. As long as there's someone to hold onto, family or a friend to help you grow then it's okay. I mean..." Raine flushed and giggled, "Even a pack has it's disadvantages. No privacy and such at all." A faint smile full of tenderness flickered over her features, "But there's support too there..."
Raine shook her head and sent a small smile to Blake before growing silent again.

Blake flattened his ears in embarrassment. "Actually, I don't know. Really. I was raised pretty much by just one woman, plus a male who came and went like the seasons, but then I met you and your pack, and you're talking about your old pack..." He shook his head, scratching the back of his neck. "I wonder if she made me paranoid. Always wondering if what I'm doing is right, raising her like I am."

"Oh." Raine flushed lightly before nudging Blake lightly. "It's fine." She looked over to Blake and grinned, "Worrying is a part of parent hood!" Her tail swished in the air behind her like a banner as she walked forward.
"If you don't get paranoid, no telling what type of parent you would be!" Added Raine lightly as she pulled back a strand of stray hair. "I mean that too. Some don't ever seem to care what happens to their children after all."

Blake smiled, giving Raine's shoulder a quick pat. "Thanks. That does help." Feeling a little better, he was able to notice a familiar scent, his nose lifting into the air. The sound of children shrieking filtered gently through the trees. "Almost there. Ready?" He asked with a light smile.

Raine nodded nervously. "Ready." She replied though she scooted a bit behind Blake as they approached. So many sounds! The wolftaur wasn't used to being around others outside of her pack and was taken by surprise.
Though it was a nice surprise. She did enjoy the company of others after all. A butterfly of excitement rose in Raine's chest as she followed Blake.

Breaking through a line of trees, Blake and Raine emerged into an open lawn, the trees cleared for a large garden. A log home set the center of the area, the shrieking coming from inside.
Noticing Raine fall back slightly, he turned to give her arm a squeeze. "Well, this is-" Suddenly, the door opened and a flustered looking male wolftaur opened the door. "That's it! Everyone out! Before you shake the house down! " He snapped. Right after, four children ran out screaming endlessly. Third in that little row was a girl matching Blake's description. The adult shook his head at the children, then noticed Blake and Raine. "Blank, my man! If I'da known you had a girl on your arm I'da had the missus make an extra plate!"  When the sitter called Blake's name, Nina's ears instantly perked. She broke from the other children, spinning in circles to see her father, though too fast to clearly see anything. "Daddy? Daddy?" Soon enough, she got dizzy and fell over, shaking her head.

"Wow." The word left Raine's lips in a surprised whisper as she watched the children spill from the house. Her smile grew though as she spotted the male wolftaur who had chased them outside. Though with the greeting her cheeks flushed violet. "I'm - I'm Raine." She spoke softly suddenly shy.
Her eyes looked to Blake for comfort before her attention was taken immediately by the girl. Nina. Raine laughed lightly as the girl fell over. With graceful movements the older wolftaur sat near Nina and offered a hand, "Need help?" She asked smiling warmly at the child.

Hearing the male's call, Blake snatched his hand back from where it was headed, waving them in front of himself awkwardly as Raine went to check on Nina. "Wait, she's not really- she's just- not exactly mine. I mean, not at all!" He scratched his head, watching the girls meet before heading over to the other male. "Sorry, but no dinner today. I think we'll be eating at home today." He then started talking a little about what the deal was.
Nina, once she could see straight, looked up at Raine with large eyes. She was so blue! She looked at the extended hand, frowning curiously at it. Who was this about to touch her? But..... She did smile very nicely. "Yes pwease." She said softly, sticking both of her hands into Raine's waiting one.

"Alrighty. Here we go~" Raine grinned as she helped the child to her paws. It was more of a swinging motion and the wolftaur had to fight in order to not grab the child in a hug. She gazed at Nina in a secret silence. Even though they were different, Raine could easily pick out the resemblance to Blake.
"So what's your hurry, little one?" She asked softly while sneaking a glance towards Blake. Her mouth curled up into a teasing smile, "Were you looking for someone maybe?"
