Alex laughed with Kira. Of course he didn't need to protect her, but she didn't want to think about that right now, so he would keep up the charade. "Yes, I will defend you bravely from various ogres and fiends. None shall draw near you while I am on the job!" he said, miming a sword fight with one hand. He gave her a mischievous smile with the gestures.

He caught her wistful glance at the crowd on the dance floor, then her look to Rawrshark. He raised an eyebrow at her. "Are you sure you don't want to dance? Cause, the haunted house will still be there later. I can dance, y'know. Old school Waltzes and the like. I could teach you what I know," he said in earnest. He let the question drop and moved on, and she could pick it up if she wanted to.

He grinned without an ounce of self-consciousness as he drew the fork back. "Told ya," he said cheerfully. Without a bit of germphobia, he plunged the fork into his cake and took another bite. He sipped more soda from his cup and remained silent for a while. Alexandros wasn't the kind who needed words to fill up silence, he was quite comfortable in his own thoughts, but he wondered about Kira.

"My own personal bodyguard... Something good came of this after all," Kira replied with another grin, her elbow settling upon the table to prop up her chin. Her eyes moved, watching his imaginary swordplay with a bemused smile. Though, it faded a little as he brought up dancing again, and she shifted a bit nervously in her seat. "I told you, I'll step on your feet... are you sure you want to risk that?" she mumbled, already looking embarrassed. "You said you didn't want to before," she added pointedly. Though, a tiny little part of her was curious. It was a dance, so shouldn't she experience dancing? But at the moment, the possibility of embarrassing herself was outweighing the little urge she had.

She watched as he resumed eating without the slightest hesitation or thought over the act, and decided that she needn't think too heavily over it either. So she leaned back upon her palm, peering around the dance floor before peering toward him. But this didn't last, and soon she'd reached down, plucking the rose from its spot upon her lap, and once again she began twirling it tenderly between her fingers. For a second, she even nudged it toward her nose and gave it a curious little sniff, but she likely assumed he wouldn't see it.

"Well um..." she spoke up after a moment, most of her attention still upon the rose. "I'd.. be willing to try, I guess. Maybe..."

Phae realized that everyone was going to dance. This seemed to be a popular song. Far more of the students were leaving the refreshment table then before. It was obviously a slow song, though a bit upbeat as well. She'd never heard it.

Kira and Alex seemed to be tiptoeing around the idea of dancing or not. Phae was hoping for them to dance. She could tell Alex really wanted to. Kira hesitated, and seemed to be looking at something though Phae couldn't tell what it was.

She wasn't even sure why she cared. She didn't know them. She had no desire to know them. But here she was waiting to see whether or not they would join the others on the floor.

Tilting her head back against her seat she sighed. She was bored. She had half a mind to just leave. It wasn't a bad party. She could tell that the school had gone through a lot of effort. The other students seemed to like the music, and she couldn't deny that the food was great. But when you refused to talk to anyone, things just didn't seem very fun. This was her fault and she knew it. She sighed louder. If she left now she'd be being rude. She didn't want that. She'd stay for a little while longer, curled up in her chair. No one really noticed her anyways. She could observe. Observing was fun.

Ristuka hald up her hand in a stoping motion and siled at Aki thoughtfully. "Vampyre. Rember?" Ristuka could eat human food but decided she didnt need anyway sugar as of yet. Her arms fell to her side and then came up again to hug herself. It wasnt cause she was cold it was just because she still felt exposed.

People kept walking this way! Keila sat like a rock in her seat nonetheless, watching the couples that went over to the long food table, and those that were already seated. They were so close to her it itched. She wanted to say something so badly! But what are you supposed to say in a situation like this? 'Hello, I'd like to be your third wheel?'

She mumbled to herself and sat back down, unfolding a small piece of paper in her hand and looking down at the name in it. "Keila Rehturrie, matched with Ru Mason." her brow knit together in a bit of confusion. "I know these are supposed to be blind dates, but what happens if I can't find the person I'm supposed to be.. out on a date with?" she blushed a little at the thought, shaking her head. A date? Really? That would.. have to be.. her cheeks turned a little redder.

Just the first date I've ever been on. But it's okay. Deep breaths. It's not really a real one, right? Right?! It's just.. a blind one. With someone you don't know. It's like that speed-dating, thing. But for friendship. And you only get one shot.. but it still has to do with dating!.... glowering, Keila sank further and further into her padded chair with a suddenly wary eye, looking to all the boys she could find in the room with small, subtle glances. Which one? she thought nervously.

With a blink as the table beside her wobbled and shifted as someone began to crawl out from underneath it, Keila's eyes glimmered with surprise and curiosity at the furry-eared pirate that crawled up. His face even seemed to be sporting a bruise-- something she figured must have been either applied make-up or magic. At first, the boy seemed gruff by his appearance, but it quickly gave away after her surprise faded and she was able to notice the nervousness he had about him. He finally met his eyes to hers and she gave a small smile in response which grew as he introduced himself. "Ru Mason!" she exclaimed excitedly, scooting somewhat toward him to extend her hand to his for a handshake. Her thoughts were scattered by the suddenness of all of this, and suddenly her earlier worry about her date didn't seem to matter-- although the blush on her cheeks hadn't quite left yet.

She stared at him curiously for a long moment, and her green eyes remained stationed on his, taking his accidental bumping into her as a purposely done action. Look at him. He's cute. she thought to herself with an inward giggle. He's so mysterious!

"Keila. I'm Keila." she smiled broadly, the little fake bat earrings clipped to her ears dangling as she shifted her posture slightly, tilting her head as she warmly said, "Nice to meet you."

((I apologize if it's a little hurried... I wanted to put it out there by now and I have lots of stuff to do. @_@))

Varon walked his way towards the Dance where most of the students were meeting up. An eerie and unnerving smile crossed his face as he’d approach the building. Reluctant at first and furious over being forced into a situation where he’d have to attend an event such as this by the headmaster, Varon now embraced the situation- he even relished the whole plot. Schemes ran through his head, ‘My, oh my… who to torment? How or when? It’s like a buffet around here… so many women; so little time.’ The look in his face could be described as nothing short of predatory as he’d debate on whether to make it a quick one-night stand or a longer bout of humiliation- the higher the road, the harder she’d fall.

Crossing the shadow cast by a mere tree, his figure utterly changed in an instant: his features grew slightly plump and color flushed back into his skin. Cheekbones were not as prominent as before and the rest of his frame ceased to be almost skeletally-thin or unnaturally pale. Wilted white hair took more volume and a pitch black color, taking on a more greasy and manageable form. His eyes shifted from a red hue to the blue-green color of the sea- the coup de grace to his new charm. While his form was still somewhat gaunt and cheekbones still held some providence over his facial features- it lent him the charm of a nobleman. Varon donned the vestige of the Red Death while excluding the mask- hiding his face took away some of the allure he’d otherwise hold.

Instead of a grand entrance, Varon slipped through the doors unnoticed by most of the students, who were too busy with their own dates to turn their heads a few degrees. Relying on his photographic memory, his own assignment seemed to have defaulted, though it didn’t take long to notice a stray lamb- Raphaela. Gracefully striding towards this girl who had been looking strangely into the doings of another couple- all the while dodging fluidly the other attendees, Varon made a theatrically low bow at her side and spoke in a charismatic low voice, “This realm must truly be a sad one, if such grace would have passed unnoticed. It pains me to fathom how your hand might have gone through all this time without knowing countless requests to escort it for a dance.” Having been raised in the noble household, Varon had acquired a particular skill for the silver tongue and natural charm that had done much to serve him in his recent life, “In light of this situation, allow me to introduce myself: I go by the name of Lucien Lachance, and the profession of the Illusionist. What, may I ask, is your name?”

Aki jumped slightly, staring up at Ritsuka as if she'd just said the most crazy thing imaginable. She quickly plucked the cookie from her lips and cleared her mouth so she could properly speak. After all, this was a matter of great importance. "...you can't eat food?" she asked, her eyes suddenly wide with horror as she stared up at the taller woman. That was the most terrible thing she'd ever heard! She had read that vampires drank blood, but... was that really all they could drink? Or eat? One of her favorite things about humans was that they had a wondrous assortment of sweets and snack food. They also seemed a bit pudgy at times, but she'd overlook that for now... But Ritsuka was saying she couldn't enjoy it?! Aki's expression fell, and as if making up for the both of them, she promptly stuffed a cookie into her mouth, nearly swallowed it whole, and then followed it right up with another. No cookies would go to waste on her watch! "Wha doof oo liffee oo eaa..?" she asked, again with her mouth full. She was trying to ask what she liked to eat.

At first Phae paid him no attention. She'd never been addressed by anyone other than her mother all those years ago and Hitomi. So no one could actually fault her. Then she realized that this person was in fact speaking to her. She allowed herself to look at him. He was somewhat gaunt, but with the air of a nobleman. His eyes were a sort of blue green hue that she'd remembered seeing in a documentary about the ocean. His voice was somewhat pleasant. It definitely wasn't harsh or anything of that manner, but she knew however he was mostly talk. This was a sweet talker who just said things to get a girl to like him. She'd seen his type in TV and movies, and read about it in books.

"Yes?" was her first reaction. It came out a bit cold and Phae mentally kicked herself. One thing she prided herself on were her normally good manners. She would not be involved with people but normally she'd at least be polite about it. She shook her head. "Excuse me." She nodded her head one more time to clear her thoughts and continued on. "Raphaela.". She spoke in short sentences, and gave him her full name and not her nickname. Nicknames were something that a friend called you. He wasn't her friend. He wasn't going to be her friend.

Varon nodded his head in acknowledgement and accompanied it with a theatrical arm gesture- spinning it three times forward and extending it forward slightly at the end of the third circle, "It is a very good honor to meet you." As he'd straighten up, Varon faced her slightly to his side rather than head on and kept his right hand lightly closed and inches in front of his chest. It was a common gesture of elegance among nobles when addressing women, "It would seem that you are not a lady of many words. It's a shame, for the expression of language suits your very visage."

"However," He raised his voice in exclamation, raising his right index finger in the gesture of a sudden notion, "It appears that we both find ourselves at a loss of company and thus submit the notion that I steal your hand for a dance, if only for a swift moment."

Ristuka mouthed the words to herself watching Aki shove more cookies in her mouth. It was like a game. Trying to figure out what Aki was trying to say around the cookies. Another repeation. Finally an answer, "I assume vampyres can only drink blood but again I am different and since as a child I ate a lot of sugar in many different forms it seems that sweets are the only thing I can consume when it comes to human foods. Conclusion being I was only kidding." Ristuka smiled when she was finished her tail wagging in a joyfull manner and her ears standing erect.

"...kiffink?" Aki garbled around her mouthful, before she finally caught herself and tipped her head back, swallowing it down in one large gulp. Once composed again, she was smiling, looking almost relieved by this discovery. "So you can?" she confirmed, beaming up at her, watching her tail wagging from the corner of her eye. She missed her own, but it was currently 'gone'. Or rather, it was hidden via the technology that was hidden within her little skull necklace, perfectly disguised and tucked away.

"A-ah..!" Aki jolted suddenly, her back arching and pushing her tummy forward, as her eyes widened a little before she burst into a little fit of laughing. She reached beneath the cape she was using, and when she pulled out her hand, a tiny vampire bat was hanging from her pointer finger. "Look! This is Zexon. I almost forgot I'd smuggled him in here~" she grinned happily.

Ristuka sniffed the bat, "You are so cute." She said to the bat then looked up at Aki, "I can hold him?" She asked eagerly showing her hands openly and looking between the bat and Aki. "Oh wait..." She mumbled to herself and smacked her forehead for feeling stupid. Looking at the bat she stared 'Can I hold you?'She smiled even though she was just staring at the bat not speaking.
